Talk about great lunch specials for sushi and bento boxes in the Aksarben area. I had the Kalbi short rib bento, which came with multiple short ribs, Mac salad, rice, a gyoza, and miso soup for $15. The flavor on the Kalbi was slightly sweet and thick which coated the meat nicely. The Mac salad wasn't a huge hit for me but as a whole, this was a great lunch meal. Came in around 11:30 and we were one of two tables. Service was speedy and very friendly. The sushi chef even gave us a sample of a side dish with cilantro and jalapeño which was really tasty! It came with a spicy salmon roll, a crab Rangoon, miso soup and Mac salad. I also ordered the tempura broccoli appetizer. This appetizer was delicious but you ONLY get 4 broccoli florets. Kinda disappointed for the price point. My only other complaint would be the bbq chicken itself. Zero bbq char on it. I've had this dish in Hawaii many times and always grilled with lots of Carmelized sauce . This chicken not so much and it lacked flavor. The restaurant was really cold and they were playing not family friendly music. There was definitely inappropriate songs playing when you paid attention. Our server did admit it was his first time, but he did great considering that. Everything was correct and came out quick. We were the only ones when we came in. The first thing we noticed was it was terribly cold in the restaurant. I ordered a hot tea just to hold, and I'm glad I wasn't planning on drinking it because the green tea was terribly weak, even after steeping. It wasn't worth drinking but the warmth was appreciated. We got a mix of sushi, bento box, and plates. Everything came out around the same time, unfortunately I didn't get photos of the food. Friends said the friend rice was a bit bland and the chicken appeared to be large boiled pieces, which some people like but it wasn't appetizing to me. The sushi looked good and everyone enjoyed it. Discovered a new restaurant at least for me. Located at Aksarben place strip mall where other food stores have come and gone. Easy access and parking. Fantastic and courteous service. A lot of good choices. The takoyaki was delicious. The katsu chicken curry was served quickly and nicely presented, with a veg salad and mac salad. I enjoyed it. I have eaten and enjoyed a lot of good plate lunch in my life, and this place was a miss. I ordered the curry katsu plate because it's a pretty good litmus test for how good a plate lunch spot is. The pricing was correct, and the portion for the katsu was great. However, I immediately noticed that the Mac salad looked weird. Not only was it weirdly watery, but it was bland and wayyyyy over boiled. The katsu kind of tasted like it was sitting under heat lamp for a bit or something. Japanese curry was fine bc that typically comes straight from a powder packet that you mix with water, but cmon add some carrot chunks or something. The biggest sin of all imo is putting the katsu on a bed of iceberg lettuce. This dish should be served on a bed of finely shredded cabbage so it's nice and crunchy and refreshing after such a heavy meal. Instead, I got to enjoy some soggy, hot iceberg lettuce. Maybe I got a dud and this place actually hits the spot, but I did not have a great experience. read more

I decided to keep it, rather than make a deal about it and send it back. One piece of meat was very tough (but it was edible). The other piece was almost entirely composed of fat and not edible. I did like the broth...so I can see how some customers may be happy with their experience. I told them about bringing the wrong food...and explained that I was fine with being brought the wrong food. However, I was disappointed that when I showed them the meat that was nearly all fat, the response was to thank me for letting them know. My fiancée is Japanese...so we have been trying a lot of ramen and noodle places...and she thought her food was okay, but not anything special. It was a little bland, and both had A LOT of rice that got wasted. We also got a couple rolls. The signature Las Vegas roll was good. They also do 2 rolls for $10 of the more basic rolls.
