This review is tainted by the fact that we went there on NYE without reservations because Charlie's On The Lake messed up our reservation. Shame on them. Kono Grill saved our evening! The parking is easy. Being at Village Pointe means bountiful parking for them. Navigating to it is likewise easy. They handled the flood of people far better than I had expected. It was very crowded. Still, the bar was packed and seating was very comfortable in our booth. Our server was awesome. Definitely earned his tip. Food was alright. Again, they were slammed, so we weren't expecting high cuisine. We do want to try them again under normal circumstances. Thus, we will return! read more

We came here despite seeing poor reviews of the place because I wanted to give it a chance. It was overall a pretty disappointing experience. The food was subpar and very overpriced for what it was. Service and ambience of the place were okay; it was not busy at all when we went on a Friday night. This was our young kids' first time doing hibachi. I called day if and luckily got a reservation. We knew the fire would be enough to keep them entertained and focused (which can be problematic with the little one) so we said, let's do it. Our chef was Keo and sever Lily. They were both fun and attentive. Keo made sure to keep the boys engaged and gave them extra tries when they didn't catch the shrimp in their mouths the first. Lily kept our drinks full without us asking - which prompted my older son to say "he loved her" Out table mates were celebrating their daughter and an impressive academic accomplishment and they were so pleasant and understanding of our "newbie" sitch. My husband and I had a reservation last Friday at 7:30 pm. We were seated in the patio area at 7:40. Our server greeted us promptly and took our drink order. It was another 15 minutes before he took our appetizer order. The appetizer came 15 minutes after that, and he took our food order. That was around 8:10/8:15. We finished our appetizer and our drinks, and sat waiting for refills on drinks and for our entrees to arrive. We had seen our server stop at other tables, but not ours. In fact, another table arrived after us, and had gotten their drinks, appetizer, entrees, and finished eating while we were still waiting for our food. Around 8:55, a different server stopped by our table and asked if we'd like her to clear our appetizer plates. My husband said he would, and that we had been waiting forty five minutes for our entrees. She said she would go check in the kitchen. Our original server never came to our table the rest of the night, after taking our entree order. We saw him in passing but he never stopped. At 9:00, 90 minutes after we'd arrived, we finally got our order. The young woman who had noticed our empty appetizer plates had checked on our food and brought it out to us. We paid our check at the table. This was the third visit we had that was lacking, but this was the worst. I'm not sure when we will return. read more

The food was great, however the price for this place is not worth it. For two people getting a poke bowl, filet dish, carrot cake and two drinks we came out with a bill of $161. And the portions were so small neither of us left full or even satisfied with our hunger. That's $60 less of a bill than our night at Yoshitomo, and these places aren't even close to the same level. All of the dishes and cocktails were good though! So kudos to the chef! Based on cost and portion sizes, this place doesn't make my top 100. I had not been here in years and forgot that it was mostly sushi. I had no recollection of the music, but the music from my visit this week was completely horrible and totally annoying. The music nearly wrecked everything. But for my fabulous girlfriend, the dinner would have been a disaster. The music - if you want to call it that - was exclusively autotune vocals. I'd sound good with autotune. There was always a constant beating drum that fairly well drowned out the other instruments. If this music is what is popular with today's young people, they are really being cheated. The carrot cake was the star. Sushi and pot stickers were good. But like I wrote supra, the food was overpowered by the music. Switch to Bocelli for real background music and watch business improve. read more

Came in late August for lunch & sat inside the patio for lunch. It wasn't busy at noon. Their menu prices increased considerably since I was last here, we're talking $20 plus for lunch. I ordered the Power Lunch that has a few choices to pick from. I got the Asian salad, avocado chicken club, fries & brownie. Asian salad was good, but had chopped regular lettuce at the bottom-did they run out of cabbage? The dressing was bomb so that made up for it. The chicken was thick, but bland. The bacon looked like microwaved bacon, but at least it was cooked and not fatty! The fries are pretty good & a lot of them! The slated table was horribly sticky & something gross splashed on my leg & on top my shoes-not sure what that was from! Gross I wasn't pleased with my choice here. Wife and daughter went back yesterday Wednesday and had the 3 course fried chicken power lunch and once again ordered one to go to bring home to me. Last week when they went and had the same thing it was great, this week not so much. The French fries were absolutely delicious, the soup was good, the fried chicken sandwich was very bland, with very limp barely cooked bacon. The one that they got to go and brought home for me was such a disappointment , it was basically a bun, limp bacon, and a plain chicken patty, absolutely no condiments at all, and they also forgot to put the salad in the bag. I put the extremely limp bacon in our air fryer to crisp it up put the bun in the microwave to freshen it. The same food last week was fantastic and this week a total disappointment. I went to Kona the other day with my SO and they really killed it. The ambience was great, service was great, happy hour pricing was great. Adam is an awesome server, 10/10! We got the Kona Sliders, Angry Edamame, Shrimp and Lobster Roll, Pad Thai, and the Poke bowl. The Pad Thai and Sliders both had just the right amount of moisture, which is great because both dishes can quickly be ruined by being too dry. I also really liked the Shrimp and Lobster Roll because the lobster flavor really shines through while the shrimp (not fried) adds nuance to the bite texture. It's like ceviche in a sushi roll. My hands-down favorite was definitely the Poke Bowl. Just look at it, it speaks for itself. The Angry Edamame is very spicy but also addicting. I usually love Kona Grill, and the staff there takes great care of the people who work in the Village Pointe area. My co-workers and I stopped by for some drinks and food after work. The vibe was great, and there's plenty of seating, which is always a plus. My food was great, and the fries were amazing. I Can't say enough good things about their house margarita. It was pretty slow inside, and our food took longer than expected. We were hoping to be there for about an hour but ended up staying for two. Some of my co-workers ordered drinks and didn't get told they weren't available anymore until others had already received their orders. Kona is a solid spot to go, but be ready to spend some money because their menu is pricey unless you're going during their happy hour. read more

Ordered the Macadamia Chicken and A cheeseburger for delivery. Sadly the burger didn't come in my order. The chicken however was fantastic. I loved the slightly nutty flavor and the sauce with the green beans and mashed potatoes. I didn't care for the pineapple marmalade but it comes on the side so it's easy to avoid. It's a fantastic dish. Is it worth $33? Not sure. But it was enjoyable and I would probably give Kona another try sometime soon. Im sure the prices in store are also cheaper than delivery. Came here for my birthday in December and the service was definitely the star of the show. That and the bento box they do for their children's menu. Ny daughter loved the variety of things included in hers. As far as the rest of the food goes, it was a little underwhelming. But, the carrot cake is still as good as I remembered! read more

Overall a decent meal was had recently at Kona. Speaking for my meal. I got a Bama sushi roll and it was great. I think I have had it before here. I also got the oriental salad which I don't think was great at all. Very bland salad. Needed a better dressing. I'm not even sure there was a dressing in mine really. The waitress was great with our larger party and patient with us all. She was top notch. I feel like every time I come here, the prices go up more and the portions get smaller. These things make me visit less often..... and it will stay that way unfortunately. I mention it often..... and this is another place that charges $4 for normal drinks like tea and sodas. Compared to other restaurants in the Village Pointe area, there won't be a long wait at this restaurant during most evenings. Service started slow and became better. The potstickers are overpriced, 6 dumplings for 20 dollars. The Pad Thai is decent, and if they could spice it up, I would have given this a higher rating. I've been a huge fan of Kona since I learned of its existence over a decade ago! I've had countless birthday parties in their private room - which I highly recommend! I've eaten in their regular dining room, bar, and their semi outdoor patio (which is awesome if the weather is perfect btw) There is a cool vibe here, you walk in close to the bar which has pretty modern music playing usually. I usually immediately feel 10 years younger but that's just me! There is a small sushi bar where you can sit and eat or watch the sushi chef work his/her magic! Directly behind the sushi chef is a huge saltwater reef aquarium. The menu here puts an Asian/island inspired twist on quite a few dishes that are likely near and dear to your heart but they also have regular pub food. On top of that, they have great sushi. I have tried a lot of things at Kona over the years and I don't recall ever having a bad one. read more

Although the cost is a bit higher for an appetizer it's definitely enough to feed 2/3 people comfortably! I'd probably order this as a meal in itself; the flavor is great and had been spiced wonderfully. The passion Tea is caffeine free and the flavor is amazing! Had to save the name of the tea bag so I could enjoy this at home. The service was great . We only had this appetizer and or waitress came over about 5 times to ensure the food was enjoyable and the drinks were filled. My only complaint was we almost turned around and walked out from the smell of the place especially by the door; walking further into the restaurant it wasn't quite as bad. I've been before and had never had that problem; the smell of rancid fish. Hopefully it was just a one off. Definitely will be back . read more

We stopped here at a random time of the day (3pm) to be seated promptly. We mostly just needed a kids meal for our little guy who needed to eat before our dinner plans later in the evening. The place was decorated really cute for Halloween, and they offered a small sample of Jones soda as we walked in. My two children each had one. When my youngest son ordered his meal he ordered the same Jones soda that he tried. For one cocktail, a small bowl of edamame that was way too spicy to eat, a soda and a kids meal it was over $50 without tip. The single Jones soda was $9! Had I asked the price ahead of time I wouldn't have ever let him order that. (My fault.) I could understand $4 or $5 for one, but when you get a pack of 4 at the grocery store for $7 this is robbery. I visited this location with my team about 9 days ago. We were a party of ten and were sat in the back at a few tables that were put together. We do not have Kona here in Palm Beach anymore so I was really excited to have dinner here. Everything pretty average from the service to the food. It was really humid/warm inside which made it a bit uncomfortable. We had a later reservation so the restaurant wasn't packed. I couldn't imagine eating there with 10-30 more people in-house. I had the stir fry as an entree and for my appetizer I ordered the sliders and edamame. My cocktail of choice was Patio Bubbles which tasted more like patio than anything else. When I visit again, this may be a place that I will stop by again for a meal. Maybe I'll enjoy my drink more. read more

Kona used to be my favorite spot to get sushi with friends especially during happy hour. It seems like now they have very limited options on their happy hour menu and the prices have gone up (about $20) per roll. Their prices are a little more expensive than other sushi places in Omaha for the same quality of sushi. Be prepared to spend easily $40-50 per person. It used to be so busy when I visited all the time years ago, but my most recent visit had empty tables everywhere during dinner time! I talked to others who have been there recently, and they all seemed to agree that it's hard to justify the price of their menu for the same quality & experience found at other restaurants close by. Overall, I'll give this place 3 starts because the food is good, but I can't say I'd come back due to better options in the relative area. read more

Last week, I decided to order delivery from Kona, grabbing a handful of their burger specials for the fam and their Macadamia Nut Chicken for me. My family couldn't stop RAVING about the burgers, the perfect amount of char on them and how huge they were. The meat was cooked perfectly, the toppings were fresh and the burgers practically melted in their mouths. Their MNC is always so delicious and this time around was no exception. The cream sauce and the marmalade are really what make it stellar and make it so iconic. It's savory, sweet and has the perfect textured coating on the chicken without all that oil or grease. I also ordered a slice of the carrot cake and we split it between the four of us. It was the best after-dinner bite to finish a wonderful meal. Major kudos to Kona because sometimes when you order meals for delivery, you don't always get what you ordered or it's lukewarm by the time it arrives. The Kona team made sure we had everything we ordered, even down to the one little note I made on the MNC, and everything was packaged perfectly so it arrived still hot. It was such a HUGE hit with us all and I keep getting asked when I'm going to order dinner from them again, which will definitely be soon. read more

I had the pad Thai and a vodka martini. The drink was 17$ which seemed a bit steep almost as expensive as my entree. The pad Thai was cold and gooey, sort of pasty. The flavor was like pad Thai but the texture was sticky and not good. The service was so so and the restaurant was loud you really had to raise your voice to be heard just across the table. I've been to Kona and had better experiences before however last night was mediocre. read more

I took my family here for Thanksgiving..The food was sub par for the amount we paid..everything was unseasoned/underseasoned..I ordered the filet Oscar style and got a dollop of canned crab on top of my steak..I couldn't even eat it..the calamari was cold and rubbery ..completely inedible..not worth the $200 plus we spent..very disappointing..also our waiter was nowhere to be found we had to a manager for help he disappeared after taking out order and never came back.. read more
