Joe our waiter was amazing, he knew the menu very well, had great suggestions, and even had jokes! Hama toast and the Osaka roll were highlights of my lunch, but not to down play the go-san and the Royale which were very good. Everything is good here and you will leave wanting to come back as soon as possible! read more

Wow great food and great service. Everything we ordered was delicious. We came at lunch so no reservation required. We got the chef choice for the nori and it did not disappoint. Each dish brought out was amazing and bursting with flavor. read more

WOW I'm very impressed by this place! The first time we went we sat in the middle of the restaurant and were sort of in a rush so we just grabbed rolls. It was new at the time so I don't think they had their bearings yet. I can't remember what we had at all. This last time was a totally different experience. The fish was amazing. Everything that you would want in a tasty bite no bigger that the size of a half a snickers. I'm a big fan of letting the chef control my meal! I had the 4 piece chef's choice and each piece I could tell was made to perfection. There was no need for soy sauce and I loved every bit! I'm looking forward to our next trip. I'm definitely going all in with the 7 course chef's choice! This place has a key to my soul! Love it! read more

What a great experience! From the attentive and friendly service to the delicious food and drinks. They were able to accommodate a party of 5. Making a reservation was easy. The restaurant is nicely lit and cozy. The food was absolutely delicious. Especially the truffled scallop nigiri. All the fish was fresh. I will definitively dine here again next time I'm in town. Great spot! Highly recommend. read more

Without a doubt this is the very best sushi and Japanese inspired restaurant in Omaha. The only close second (or nearly a tie) is Koji, the chef/owner's sister restaurant. Yoshitomo serves food that is inspired, innovative, and delicious without compromising anything. The service is professional and attentive and could be a model for all other restaurants. They have always been trained and knowledgeable and make the guests feel welcome and wanting to return soon. Found in the Benson neighborhood the interior respects its Asian inspiration without losing the casual ambiance Benson is known for. I have only one suggestion for Yoshitomo (and Koji), offer or make spoons available because the absolutely delicious sauces and dressings are so good you'll want to lick the plate. Spoon? Yes, please. read more

Stellar food and great service! We sat at the sushi bar and ordered based on recommendations from the server and the chef and everything we tried was out of this world. We are moving to Omaha and can't wait to make this a regular spot to eat! read more

Hands down the best sushi I've ever had. It tastes SO fresh (probably because they fly in fish in 3x a week). I had the opportunity to attend one of their tastings and got to try all sorts of dishes I would never order on my own and every single one was AMAZING. The Go-San sushi was my favorite. Great service and really cool vibe. It's different from every other sushi restaurants in town! read more

Still one of the best sushi places in town. Yoshitomo does sushi rolls much better than nearly everywhere in Omaha (in my opinion). They seem to have much better product/ingredients and the overall preparation is always top notch. While the Happy hour prices are no longer $5-7 for a roll anymore, I still think Yoshitomo is worth it (all day HH on Sunday is nice). The highlight of the meal was the sablefish. The black cod melted in your mouth and had an extremely buttery flavor/texture. Highly recommend the yaki gindara. The service is always great at Yoshitomo and I think this place is one of the best in Omaha. I still like Umami a bit more for the raw stuff but Yoshitomo is excellent as well. I'm about to try the Omakase here and am very excited. read more

Ok this place is amazing !!! Went when first opened and it was good but it's only gotten better. The bites and small plates are all out of this world good. You really can't go wrong with any of them. The Aburi Wagyu, the Yaki gindara and truffle scallop are freaking so delicious! The Tom Kha is so velvety yummy! Seriously everything is amazing and fresh. Get on down there sushi lovers! read more

Hands down my absolute favorite restaurant in Omaha. Food: 10/10- The sushi is exceptional. I mean, you'd think - 'really? Awesome sushi in Omaha?' The answer is YES! High quality, creative rolls. Note this is more like high end sushi- you won't be getting sushi and wasabi on your plate that mask that subtle, delicious flavors. Atmosphere: 10/10- Cool, small, intimate- perfect for a date night. If you want a group bigger than four, I'd recommend checking out its sister restaurant KOJI. read more

Yoshitomo - Sushi bar and friend - Sushi Bars Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

Food was amazing, services was amazing. Best sushi I've had since living in Hawaii. My new favorite spot for lunch.

Surprisingly very good sushi place. Surprising as in not just that it is about as far away from the ocean as a sushi place can be, but also because it is in what is considered to be the less nice part of town. But don't let those observations fool you: this is very good sushi, and at that price point, better than what I've had in other metros. You can drop $200 (or more) and get an omakase experience in DC or LA, sure, but for under $50, this is very hard to beat. I had a sable fish item, a dish on some sourdough toast, and the yellowtail nigiri. All were good but the dish on toast was the standout, wow, delicious! Definitely a place I would visit frequently if I lived in Omaha. read more

This place solely depends on if your a California roll kinda girl or a raw sushi gal. The cooked rolls were okay, but the raw sushi ones were apparently better than most sushi places in Omaha. The atmosphere? It's dark and WARNING don't scrap your nails on the wood paneling. My nails took the stain right off when I feeling the wood LOL. Also be prepared to wait awhile to receive your sushi. We waited for almost 30 minutes during lunch and there wasn't many folks there. BUT you can tell the rolls were made with love! Somewhat pricey, but it's a cool sushi place to try. Some of the rolls are hit or miss, but give this place a shot if you wanna try some new sushi in town. read more

First timer here. The overall experience was outstanding. Our server was excellent. She made suggestions, advised her favorites and set our dinner up for success. Every course was delicious. Everything was beyond fresh. The cucumber vodka drink was crisp and refreshing. The sesame drink was bold and different, it grows on you. All the sushi was packed full of flavor and the fish was beyond fresh. Highly recommended and I'm so happy I was able to enjoy a night here. read more

I had a magical experience at Yoshitomo. This place delivers fabulous, high end Japanese cuisine for a very fair price. The ambiance inside is quiet, calm, and decorated in warm lighting. When you enter you can grab a seat at the sushi bar and watch the chef's delicately prepare sushi pieces as you eat or sit down at a table. The service was a little bit slow due to it being busy when I was there, but I did not mind at all because I was able to sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs work their magic! Our friendly waiter gave us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine- which was so nice and not at all necessary, and I think maybe it was because of the wait. It's best to create a reservation at this place because it is small inside and so can get full quick. We started our order with cocktails which tasted brilliant, but there is an extensive saki, wine and beer menu to choose from as well. The sashimi I had here was the most fresh fish I've tasted. The sushi rolls had a combination of interesting flavors and ingredients that molded seamlessly. For example, they have a wagyu sushi roll! The sushi is delicious and the best sushi I've had. Omaha is lucky to have this restaurant here. read more

What a 31st birthday to remember. My hubby and I sat at the sushi bar and it was like sitting up at the Chef's Table with Chef Mandy! She was so fun to chat with. She explained all the things she was making when I asked and we ordered 6-7 more things as we saw them made for a total of 13 courses. Everything was DELICIOUS but some of the bites I will dream of forever and will keep going back for (& wanting to try almost everything else in the menu) included: the oyster, Aburi miso, Uni, Aburi Wagyu, Hama Toast, Hamapon, Crudo, Barinaku and the Carbonara...which is just about everything that we ordered! The Toro and Sake are classic nigiri that you can never go wrong with either. I cannot wait to go back! Sushi is one of those things that you can't make at home, especially like this, so it may be one of the only places we go to from now on when we can snag a date night without the kiddos. read more

Creative Japanese fusion cuisine that actually works! we ordered the Scallop carbonara, Foienagi, Baraniku, Mizukosho 2.0, and Tom Kha 2.5. Each dish was unique, perfectly cooked to the right texture and temperature, and plated pleasantly. Very well deserved James Beard Best Chef nomination. My favorite was the Tom Kha 2.5 served with seared sea bream on a creamy coconut sauce. Baraniku was also a bite to remember - melt in your mouth Wagyu with a kiss of smokiness. Their sushi rice also had the right balance of acidity and sweetness. The sushi moriawase was decent, though I'd prefer fattier cuts of chutoro and salmon belly. Our server, Basna, was very attentive and friendly. She also provided us with additional restaurant and bar recommendations around the area after our meal. Ambiance was hip and casual. The restaurant was full of patrons when we dined which is great! Highly recommend checking Yoshitomo out when you're in Omaha. Their dishes are one of a kind and your taste buds will thank you after the meal. read more

The Yelp community did not disappoint on this one. I will start by saying that I have no idea why it took me so long to get down to Yoshitomo. Everyone raves about it. Rave they should, this place sets the bar super super high for all the other sushi joints. The food is to die for, probably the best that I have ever had. The service was top notch as well, she new everything about the entire menu and the drinks too. I do not think that I have been to such a simple place that served such complex dishes. Them menu isn't expansive, there isn't 85 rolls to choose from. There is however several well thought out tasty offerings that will satisfy even the most snobby sushi freak. The drink list keeps it real as well, several Japanese whiskeys, a few beers and lots of wine and a great selection of Sake. My experience here was Amazing. Everything was on point. It was heavenly. Each dish was unique and stood on its own, the Hamachos started it off for us. Crazy good spin on a Nacho, kinda. The chopped Yellow tail on a rice crisp really let me know that we were in for a treat. The Omaha Crunch, Go-San, and the Gojira rolls were delicious. Each ingredient was as fresh and crisp as the next. Everything seemed extremely well thought out and very well prepared. The Royale roll almost seemed like a mess, a well prepared mess at that. It stands out as the spiciest of the evening. We also chose to order the Moriwase which is 5 pieces of Nigiri of the chefs choosing. The chef did not disappoint, King Salmon, Amber Jack, Striped Jack, Sea Bream, and Spanish Anchovy!!! Wow. Each piece was a stark contrast from the next. Spanish Anchovy was a new thing to me. I loved it. The King Salmon is cured in house and the attention to detail is obvious. Striped Jack, Amber Jack oh My. I can not say enough about everything here. Of course I have to try the Himachi (yellowtail) Nigiri I can't help it. I Love Yellowtail. They don't serve the dish with a side of "wasabi" soy and Ginger like almost everywhere else. Why? Because the fish here doesn't need it. Each piece comes with soy slightly brushed on. What a relief, not every single piece of sushi needs to be slathered with fake green wasabi and Soy. You don't need ginger either. At least I don't. After everything was gone and the last of the Sake was poured, I decide we needed eel for desert. Our server suggested the Foienagi. Smoked Eel, Foie Gras, Topped with a Cherry Boshi . Just when I thought my evening could not get any better, just when I thought that I couldn't achieve any more sushi bliss, this creation appears. It melted in my mouth the combination of Froie gras and smoked eel with cherry capped off an amazing experience. One that I will not soon forget. I am certain it will not take me very long at all to return to Yoshitomo read more

Amazing food! The tasting menu was a true experience. I felt like I was in a very renowned restaurant in a big city .

THE BEST sushi in Omaha and personally I don't think it's close. All three of us ordered different items and on first bite all three of us looked at one another with that look of OMG. My wife nearly cried with joy, our son said "this is fire!" and I'd tell you more but the waves of ecstasy washed it away. Rodeo, Kobayashi Maru, Royale, and Omaha were favorites of the night, and though we didn't try it I have it on good authority that Khaleesi is pretty fine too. So yet another reason to return. Trust but verify, right? Very cozy space, too. The rare feeling of intimate even when in full view of others. Put it all together with quality service and you have our new favorite sushi spot. Excellent. read more

Best sushi I've had since leaving California. Great atmosphere with gorgeous lighting and a nice intimate feel, just be sure to make a reservation well before if you're going on a weekend. Omakase is available for real connoisseurs but a regular visit will give you plenty of tasty food with variety. The drink menu is impressive, with wines from all over the world (surprised by the Slovenian wine and the Field Recordings) and a sake list a mile long. We started with some oni eggs, but there are small plates and "bites" in addition to the nigiri and signature rolls. We got the Omaha Crunch, Khaleesi, Osaka, and Royale rolls, which were all great. Khaleesi was definitely an interesting twist, featuring salmon, sundried tomato, avocado, and thin slices of lemon on top that were torched. Really nice acidic flavor to balance the other heartier rolls. This was our second time in, and I'm excited to try the new dishes when we next visit and maybe some small plates too! read more

I've ruined myself on sushi forever. Still running on the high from our amazing omakase dinner, which was also my first visit to the restaurant. 15-courses of bites so tasty I wanted (and did) fist-pump for joy as we were eating. I wanted (and did) brag to passers-by... who absolutely couldn't hear us... that this was the most important sushi table to be at in the city on that evening. Dining at the Chef's table here is really a treat. You're totally separated from the main dining room (which is intimate in its own regard). But yet illuminated to the outdoors of the Benson streets cape. If you're a sushi-lover who's willing to leave your palette up to chance, I can't recommend the omakase table here enough. Can't wait for another seating and to dine in the main restaurant ASAP. Wish I had better captions for these photos but there were also - amazing - wine pairings involved so maybe I can blame my fuzzy memory on that. read more

This little spot in Benson is the perfect place for a date night or a quick bite for lunch. I got the Omaha crunch which was really good and I liked the texture of this roll! It was so exciting to find good sushi even in Nebraska. At the waitresses suggestion, we started with a shared plate, the Mizukosho. It was smaller than we expected but the adventurous combo of fish and fruit was surprisingly delicious. Then we shared four rolls, the Royale, Hama Saba, kobayashi maru, and the rangoon. They were all lovely but the saucy Royale roll was my favorite. Also our table liked the kobayashi maru read more

This restaurant deserves all the love it gets and more! First timers and absolutely loved every single thing we got which is not often for us. We sat at the sushi bar where we had the opportunity to watch our food and others prepared. The chef made the work place seem like a big family and honestly the service industry is tough and knowing that we are getting our meal not only from a local business but one that treats their employees like family and is inclusive makes it all that much better. I will for sure be back and spread the word about it! read more

BEST SUSHI IN OMAHA AND MOST SURROUNDING STATES!!! Definitely FIVE stars for food and chefs!! Sadly, I can't say the same for same for service. I can only give 3 stars. Would give less based on the 1/2 owner & Manager, Dave. He is avoidant, indifferent, and downright rude during every encounter I've had w him being front of house. Same with the server red curly hair. Said server acts of a very pompous nature- "I suppose you're worthy of my time and trouble for the next hour (scowl)." Speaks quickly when presenting the menu as if the customer should be familiar with all of it, since they are there. CANNOT (deer in headlights) if you ask for a recommendation for a drink pairing! Does NOT know saki's! --These 2 would bring the service rating to 1 . They Alone drag the rest of the incredible staff down because, with their pretty small intimate crew- you're unflikely to encounter one of the 2 above mentioned folks I just spoke of. It's an AMAZING sushi, amazing chefs, such positive energy and vibes behind the sushi kitchen/bar!! Just look over, they WANT YOU to order and enjoy what they do! The best marinated fish- market exclusive top notch seafood! Perfection!! -- This particular server, along with an indifferent and pretentious manager- don't do nearly enough lift up what the magician sushi chefs, mad stock of sakis, and dedicated Japanese tradition Yoshitomo is dedicated to. Don't be mistaken!! There are SOOOOO MANY WONDERFUL WOMEN (In my personal experience it's always the women servers) that know their shit and take their time to give you the experience you came for!! Still ALWAYS THE BEST TREAT, BEST SUSHI! Such a downer when you have to see the part owner- have the pretentious server, whom they've kept there FOREVER, maybe part owner could look past the end of his own nose to retain talent- and let others find another path.. just a long time coming Yelp review. read more

We hoped everything else would live up to its promise. We had the pork belly bite, scallop bite, chef's choice nigiri, umeboshi roll, veggie roll and shrimp tempura roll. Especially given the take-out nature of the modern world, this place is spectacular. Tasty sushi, a wide selection of sake, an interesting interior and a very cool staff. While I can't wait to be able to dine inside, the to-go menu was great. If I was smart, I would have called ahead. Impulse leads to patience. There IS seating inside for the patient.
