We were offered multiple sauces and recommendations for burrito favorites. It was really hard to choose! It has a folk art style decor complete with bottle cap mural molding around the room. I plan to try all their menu because the burritos we got were so big that I had two meals from one! Bonus!

That's fine, but much of the street is for resident parking only so I'm not sure what to suggest if the lot is full, but don't let that keep you from coming to this wonderful little restaurant! Yesterday my wife wanted to go here again for some reason. Remembering my last visit I didn't order anything but she ordered a hotdog and onion rings. When we got home the onion rings were good but the hotdog was burned. I'm not talking slightly over done. It was scorched to the point it resembled a piece of charcoal. Fully one third of it was inedible and the remaining 2/3rds was barely edible as it was dried out and over cooked. Needless to say I'm not going to be in a rush to come here again anytime soon. What's annoying is that in the past the food has been good but this place isn't cheap and after throwing away good money two visits in row for lousy food I'm not looking to make it three times in a row.

Fast, efficient, food hits, no major complaints. But after my most recent experience, I'm dropping it to 3. I ordered online, paid ahead, did the whole "I'm a responsible adult" thing. I get there, give my name, pull up, and suddenly I'm told my total like I never paid. Then someone loudly calls out from the back, "OH! it declined." First of all... what? Second of all... inside voices?? Here's the kicker: it did NOT decline. I had the confirmation email, and my bank showed the charge (I didn't know this yet). Instead of verifying, she told me matter-of-factly that it declined, so I handed her the exact same card I used online, and she ran it again. Boom, double charged. And at that point, I'm starving and not about to fight over a fast food order, trusting that staff are doing their due diligence, not just assuming and casually charging a second $30 like it's no big deal in this economy. I had to go back through the drive-thru line (again), wait (again), and deal with it while my food sat getting soggy (not again, unfortunately, just once was enough). To their credit, the refund was issued and it did hit my account. So yes, they fixed it. That matters. But... this shouldn't have happened in the first place. It's a training issue. If an order is confirmed, don't assume it declined. And maybe don't announce someone's "declined card" across the building like it's a group discussion topic. Still a decent location... would be smart to verify before you charge people twice (maybe my expectations are too high?) and I will never order online again because of this, lesson learned first time around on that.

Why is it when you desperately need to eat it is so hard to figure out what to feed yourself? This dilemma is how I finally ended up at Yoshi's. Going as high as 3 stars for them does give me pause. But I think I'm gonna go for it. After all, I got EXACTLY what I expected. I've passed by this place a zillion times and thought to myself, what a crappy little dive that must be. But, then again, it is still open after all this time so there must be something there worth checking out. And if I didn't get some food I was going to pass out! I see that the egg rolls got some good reviews. I don't eat meat so I got stuck with the spring rolls. Just like the kind that you find at a buffet, you know, awful chewy and lacking in filling - and flavor. Once the person behind the counter and I figured out how to communicate (okay, it was mostly me finally actually reading the menu that made this work), I loaded up on cucumber sushi, the aforementioned spring rolls, and a small bowl of steamed veggies. The place definitely gets one of its stars because they were willing to fix any of the dishes with tofu instead of meat. I finally realized why I couldn't get a plain avocado roll - there was no sushi chef. Seriously, what was I thinking? I got 4 inside out cucumber/avocado rolls that were pretty damn good for coming prepackaged. (No, I don't believe Yoshi's has a special sushi chef that sneaks in in the morning to make rolls!) It is a good thing I got 2 orders because 4 rolls is not much of a serving. The wasabi sauce was a joke, though. Wasabi sauce for round eyed people and not much of it. The bowl of steamed veggies is exactly as it sounds. Boring and lacking in flavor. Some soy sauce and hot sauce later, well, I had a bowl that was boring and lacking in flavor. BUT, other than the no-excuse-to-exist-except-for-grease spring rolls, I got to feel like I ate healthy. And I was full. And the 2 sushis, 1 spring roll, and 1 bowl of veggies came out to $7 so I felt like I got away pretty cheap. Can't say I'd go there again, but knowing they could make me up a tofu stir-fry might lure me back. read more

However, mine came about 10 minutes later. ( in my experience if there's two people sitting at a table you bring their food out together and not 10 minutes apart) I ordered lunch special shrimp with snow peas and asked for it to be cooked with the white sauce. What I received instead was shrimp and peas in brown sauce. Even as they dropped it off I said this is wrong sauce although there were a lot of shrimp but the gentleman turned around and walked away. The woman came back out, and I flagged her down and told her. She looked at me and said do you want it with white sauce? And I said yes that's what I ordered. So she took it in the back and had them remake my meal. This a completely different meal came out. This was definitely moo guy Pan and not shrimp with snow peas on top of that there was only three shrimp. Now I personally have to really be in the mood for moo goo guy Pan. Because I don't like some of the vegetables that's in it. So that meal was an epic fail. I don't understand why canned soda is so expensive when they don't even give you a cup of ice to pour it into. And I don't understand why they brought my lunch special accoutrements eggroll, etc. separate from my guest. Normally, these things should be served at the beginning of the meal with the soup. But they really came at the end of the meal instead. And this young woman kept coming out and checking on us every four minutes or so. It got frustrating when I'm trying to have a conversation with my guest and she kept interrupting unnecessarily So in the end, I would say it might be worth going back to this place one more time to see if they can get their service corrected. And get a better flow of getting the food out at the appropriate times and in the appropriate order. I would make sure I have plenty of time to waste, because if they keep bringing out one dish at a time, it's silly that one person can be finishing up their meal when the other person is just getting theirs. I really wanted to love this place because the reviews are so positive and the restaurant is adorable, but based on this particular takeout experience, the food just wasn't for us. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but unfortunately, I don't think I'd be rushing back. Cute restaurant, but the food definitely missed the mark for us this time.
