Enter parking lot off of Palo Verde Dr. most of the time you can find parking in the multi-Resturant parking lot. Micro Plaza Venue 5/5 This plaza underwent the current concept change when I lived nearby. I was excited as it announced the initial tenant line-up, and It became a big hit after opening. A favorite Italian restaurant which stands empty today had a fun modern concept and excellent food, and a micro-brewery operated in the space Mensho Ramen now claims as its Phoenix location. There are other nice eatery's in this plaza so you can find something to enjoy. Mensho Atmosphere 5/5 The bones of the former micro brewery were utilized however the design and brand concept was implemented exceedingly well. The restaurants centerpiece bar was maintained with nice design eliminates that sets the concepts theme. This is a beautiful eat at bar. The space is very comfortable with modern Japanese Cultural touches throughout. Service 5/5+ My host and server today was Ms. Cass. I was seated at a window booth to enjoy the plazas foot traffic. She walked me through the upscale menu. Between the menu, Cass's input and the review from Yelp friend @Emma N. I knew what I wanted to try. Cass had my drink order starter and Entree order and off she went. Cass was at my table often, her visits always timely making my experience perfect. Food 5/5++ I just visited Ramen restaurant in Gilbert recently which was lacking on several fronts and wanted to try more than I could eat. Leftovers were in the plan today. Starters Corn wings were a unique and clever creation from the cob. Served with a thin cob backing with the corn grilled to a slight char. They are served with a chili powder to add to suit your level of spice. Karate Chicken was served in small bite style making use of chopsticks easy. The texture and crunch was very nice, the flavor made this standout must try! Entree Mensho signature GKO spicy Ramen was excellent. I ordered extra spicy which they accommodated with a side of diced red chill paste and chili powder. The both was rich, flavorful and spicy. Fresh ingredients were skillfully placed for a beautiful presentation. The noodles were perfectly cooked and hearty. I loved this bowl. Eggs are an add for this bowl. Desert Pudding with strawberries was a the perfect complement to a superb Mensho dinner. Leftovers I didn't take much home as I expected the food was that good. Mind you, these are simple appetizers that should not take anywhere near that long to prepare. When we asked for the third time, we finally asked that the appetizers be cancelled since we had already finished our meal. At that point, the gentleman working the front area , tall, with red hair, loudly yelled from across the restaurant, in an extremely rude and confrontational tone, "It's already on the grill!" There was absolutely no reason to speak to paying customers that way. His response was unprofessional, unnecessary, and honestly created a very hostile and uncomfortable feeling during what should have been an enjoyable dinner, especially while our group was on vacation and simply trying to enjoy a meal together. When the appetizers eventually came out, we left them sitting there because we were already done eating and ended up taking them to go. He eventually told us they would be removed from the bill, which we appreciated, but that did not excuse the way the situation was handled. Again, the food was good, but good food does not make up for poor service and especially not for an employee speaking to customers in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. Management should seriously address how customers are treated, because the interaction with this particular employee overshadowed what could have otherwise been a good dining experience for our party of 12.

I booked a solo seat at the bar just two hours before dinner, which, in hindsight, should have been my first clue. The night before, my plans at Chilte had evaporated after I arrived to discover the owner was hosting a baby shower and the ceilings were being painted instead of dinner being served. I wasn't eager to go 0-for-2 on my Scottsdale food pilgrimage. Pulling into what looked more like an aging roadside motor lodge than the home of a James Beard-recognized restaurant, I wondered if Google Maps had developed a sense of humor. I parked around back, followed the sign to the dining room, and found... a locked door. Naturally. For a brief moment I thought the Arizona restaurant gods were playing another practical joke. Then I spotted another entrance simply marked "Bar." Inside, Hai Noon revealed itself as a tiny oasis. Phoenix met Tokyo somewhere in a dimly lit room with clean lines, warm wood, and mellow music humming through the speakers. Three other guests occupied the restaurant--a couple finishing dinner and what appeared to be a delightfully intimate two-person baby shower. I took my place at the bar. The server welcomed me warmly. When I admitted I was in town for work and wanted to experience the restaurant rather than order safely, he smiled and took control. A few menu staples were unavailable but he confidently selected four dishes. The grapefruit avocado hamachi spoons arrived first and immediately justified the trip. Rich, buttery fish balanced against bright citrus acidity with avocado quietly stitching everything together. It's the kind of bite that reminds you why chefs obsess over simplicity done well. The white fish carpaccio followed with a little theater. Hot sesame oil was poured tableside, barely kissing the fish into submission. Fun presentation. Beautiful execution. Though once the spectacle faded, the dish itself never quite reached the same emotional high as the hamachi. The garlic butter mushrooms arrived... in a plastic bag. It shouldn't have worked. It absolutely did. Deeply savory, unapologetically rich, and refreshingly unconcerned with appearances. The house chicken, unfortunately, couldn't keep pace. Twice fried and topped with egg salad alongside a chili vinegar, it sounded far more exciting than it tasted. Sometimes clever combinations simply refuse to become memorable food. Cocktails, however, were another story. My first choice--the Kosho--was unavailable, so I settled on the Japanese Moss, a gin cocktail topped with yuzu cold foam. The foam leaned aggressively tart but never overwhelmed the drink. Later, after finally coaxing the bartender away from his phone, he suggested an off-menu serrano-infused rum cocktail with miso. Complex, vegetal, spicy, balanced. Exactly the sort of drink you hope to discover when you stop ordering from menus. By 7 p.m., I was the only customer left. Summer in Phoenix is merciless. One hundred thirteen degrees has a way of convincing even adventurous diners to stay home. I watched two reservations cancel while chatting with the bartender and server, who explained that between May and August, three tables can qualify as a good night. Location doesn't help either. Hidden behind an unassuming hotel, Hai Noon isn't exactly benefiting from walk-in traffic. The chef emerged from the kitchen several times during service. Each time he glanced at the empty reservation book, quietly acknowledged another cancellation with a shake of his head, and disappeared back into the kitchen without speaking to anyone. There was something heartbreaking about it. Here was someone capable of creating award-winning food, still chasing perfection while circumstances far beyond the plate slowly worked against him. Hai Noon isn't flawless. Service occasionally drifted. One dish missed the mark. The room felt almost too empty. But I'd rather spend an evening in an imperfect restaurant full of ambition than a polished dining room serving food without a soul. I just hope Scottsdale's relentless summer doesn't prove too Hai for many more Noons.

The flavor was there, but the temperature made me nervous. Maybe order: the yams. For me, it had way too much topping in a small bowl, which made it overwhelming. Some of the yams were undercooked, but there is a lot of potential for this dish!

We ordered the Super Crunch Shrimp Roll, deep-fried, wrapped in soy paper, with shrimp tempura, avocado, cream cheese, crab stick and eel sauce. My favorite but all are so good it's hard to choose. A nice sashimi of yellowtail and albacore that was fresh, delicious, could've had more: the seaweed garnish was fresh and crunchy.
