I know they say eating too much sushi isn't good for you but neither is binge-watching MTV reality shows and here I am still kickin it. I'm already craving my next sushirrito and visit to Yoki Express and I was only there a few hours ago. The staff were quick to take my order and very helpful in helping me decide toppings. "Well... do you think this goes well with that?" I had newbie written all over me. They were very patient. I ordered the Yoki Amor (Albacore Tuna) burrito which comes with Albacore tuna, cucumber, purple cabbage, mixed green, tempura flakes, fish roe, jalapeno with spicy mayo and sweet soy sauce covered in seaweed. You can opt for a rice bowl if you're feeling that instead. I went with brown rice and I was nervous my sushirrito would come with too much rice. I'd sooner die! But it was perfect. I absolutely loved the seaweed they used, from the texture and taste, and the fish tasted incredibly fresh. Everything was evenly portioned out and rolled up so that each bite consisted of almost every ingredient. I'm salivating on my keyboard just writing this review. I work on the same block as this store and it was such a blessing when it opened as it added some much needed lunch options to the area! As for the food, you can choose either one of their preset sushi burritos or choose to create your own burrito/poke bowl. There are salmon, tuna, grilled chicken, pulled pork, pulled beef, and tofu for the protein options. Veggies include purple cabbage, cucumbers, corn, seaweed salad, avocado ($1 extra), etc. You can the choose from about 6 different sauces and finally top it with items such as edamame, tempura flakes, and tobiko. There are also miso soup to add on but other than that, I'm not sure if there are other items. I would say you get a bit more food from your bowl, so if you're feeling a bit hungry go for the bowl. Depending on what option you choose, look to spend around $12-15 here. A welcomed addition to the Seaport area and definitely in regular rotation for lunch! read more

I am extremely pleased with my meal from Yoki Express and it will be one of my new favorite places to get poke! They have so many protein options - shrimp tempura, grilled chicken, teriyaki beef, BBQ pulled pork, salmon, albacore tuna, chicken salad, tofu, crabstick, or fresh tuna. Now that I've tried them all, I can truly say that YE is on the higher ranked side. Are you looking for a place that serves fresh albacore tuna (Pokeworks no longer carries and New Sushi unfortunately cooks their albacore)? Do you want unique and flavorful sauces besides the normal soy, ponzu, or spicy mayo? What if you're not into raw fish and want something else like teriyaki beef or tempura shrimp instead? YE is the place for you! The place was clean, service great, ingredients fresh, and price reasonable for the amount of food you get. I like to customize my bowls but they do have some preset selections if you cannot decide! Thumbs up for the fresh pineapple and tempura flakes as toppings and the delicious mango pineapple sauce! It's sweet and tangy and I like to mix mine with the sriracha aioli for maximum flavor. My one suggestion for the restaurant is to slice or shave their red onions even more thinly. I love red onion paired with albacore but they were a little too thick and got too strong at one point. Just a heads up, ahi tuna and avocados are an upcharge. Inside is pretty nice with large windows for natural lighting but as for the food theres Nothing really exceptional about this place but the sushirrito is tasty enough. Fish seems fresh though they don't give you alot but that's to be expected in a poke shop. They do however give you a good amount of the toppings you choose like seaweed salad which is a plus since most places don't let you do that in Boston. They also have different proteins available like tempura shrimp, chicken and I believe beef. I went with a typical salmon and white tuna option so in comparison to other places that offer the same type of food it was pretty standard. Overall, nothing special but by no means bad. A solid place to get a poke bowl. The tuna and salmon I got were fresh and the siracha mayo and yoki vinegrette were a nice pairing with the fish. The serving size is a bit smaller than the sizes of other poke places in Boston and they limit the amount of toppings you can get but all in all the food was fresh and tasty. There are some workers who are super generous with portions and some who aren't, so your experience can really vary. One thing I will say is that they don't offer ginger, only soy sauce.. so if that's as big of a deal for you as it is for me, it's worth remembering. read more

This is my favorite poke place out of the other two I've tried: Poke Works in Somerville and Love Art Sushi in Fenway/Back Bay. At all three places, I got a custom spicy salmon poke bowl with very similar toppings: pineapple, seaweed salad, corn, lettuce, imitation crab meat, etc. What made Yoki's poke bowl better was the freshness of its salmon which made it very refreshing and enjoyable. Yoki also serves protein other than seafood like their chicken and beef which I find a little odd. If I added chicken or beef to my poke bowl, it'd be a chipotle burrito bowl which, funny enough, is right next door. One thing I didn't like was their rice (white rice). It was too heavy/thick for my liking. If you like something sweet, make sure to try their mango pineapple dressing! If you want to choose different dressings, request to have it packaged in a mini container so you can try as many as you want. :) read more

Decent rice bowls that are packed with toppings - I ordered the Casa Tokyo ($10.50), which comes with grilled chicken, a generous spoonful of avocado, radish, mixed greens, cucumbers, cranberries, walnuts, wasabi mayonnaise with a kick, and savory Thai sauce. Instead of making it a burrito, I chose brown rice bowl (other option is white rice), which looked more like dull white rice, but overall the bowl was delicious and had a good amount, leaving me feeling satisfied and not overly full after eating the whole thing. The signature bowls are cheaper than custom bowls and do not require thinking about what ingredients to get (can choose up to 4 in custom bowls), and I would definitely order the Casa Tokyo again. The worker who made my bowl knew his stuff and quickly put ingredients together in less than 5 minutes. I'll need to come back for the raw fish for an actual poke experience. Inside, there is plenty of seating with metallic chairs that could be more comfortable. It is located in Seaport, and close to Taiyaki NYC as a dessert option after your hearty meal. read more

Yoki Express, the Japanese/Asian addition to the "Around the World in Bowls" block in Seaport (consisting of Aceituna, Tikkaway, Yoki and Chipotle), is awesome. The staff has always been really nice and the food is way better than I ever expected it to be. The fish is surprisingly fresh and they pack a lot of food into their burritos/bowls. It's actually a good value when you consider the cost of a large maki roll dressed up at a traditional sushi spot. My favorite is the #2. The salmon is always really fresh, and the avocado, cucumber, purple cabbage, radish, mixed greens, and sliced jalapeño make for a really refreshing bite. The sriracha mayo gives it the perfect amount of kick and helps hold things together a bit, and the tempura flakes add a nice texture. If there was one thing they could do, it would be find a way to seal the burritos better, but it's kind of impossible with a traditional-sized piece or nori. I've eaten a bunch of their burritos and I'm starting to develop a reasonable strategy for getting through it without much spilling out, but the wrapping paper they serve the burritos in can only do so much. It's a minor thing, though. Just grab a fork on your way out! I prefer the burritos to the bowls due to the fact that the bowls aren't mixed up, so you have to go through the "hassle" of mixing things thoroughly in order to not get to the bottom of the bowl and only have rice remaining. It's a little difficult to do with sticky rice, though. The burritos give you a bit of all the goodness each time without the need for any extra effort. Overall, you can't go wrong with Yoki Express. It's a fairly healthy choice for a quick lunch or dinner, the staff is pleasant, the restaurant is clean, the line moves fast, and it's a smaller local chain/business instead of a huge chain (as is Tikkaway and Aceituna), so it's a great place to checkout and support! The portion was large and it sounded like it was going to be ok, however, poke bowls are best received fresh on the spot and I am afraid this dish suffered from delivery exhaustion and was sort of a let down. This is my favorite place for a sushi burrito/bowl now! This was our second time and we can't help but fall in love more and more each time we try something new on the menu. Everything is so fresh-- we ordered some to go for some friends and they loved it. The shrimp tempura was delicious. It's a must try. That special sauce is so delish. The salmon burrito was really fresh. This is the first time I can eat salmon without having to worry about a odor. The staffs were so nice! 5 stars for their conversations, smiles, professionalism and kindness. This doesn't seem hard to do, but a majority of restaurants lack this the most. This message is for the management and owners: please add the option on your computers to let us tip your staff with a credit card. They are friendly and attentive. Most of the people that go into this restaurant are paying with a card. Lots have corporate cards, and most people that are in the area not only can afford it, but do it willingly to show gratitude. So there are a lot of poke bowl/sushi burrito places out there. This is another one in the Seaport area. As compared to poke works, new sushi, manoa (now closed), love art sushi, it is last on the list. Portion was small for $13 + tax. Note that fresh ahi tuna is an extra $1. Limited add In and toppings. I didn't get an garnishes since I wasn't given the option. The woman in the assembly line put a lid on my bowl and passed it to the cashier. One of the assembly worker saw this exchange and offered to help, but I didn't bother. It would have been too much work to get the lid off and then put it back on. Fish was okay- small pieces. The sauce didn't have much flavor and wasn't enough to mix in with the rice. What did I mix with the rice? very wet and slimy seaweed salad. I got a good helping of it. This is never homemade and they buy in bulk and it comes frozen. This wasn't my first choice as I wanted to go to tikki way that was next door. But it was closed due to a burst pipe. Excellent poke bowls and sushirritos. The Yoki Amor has great balance: Cucumber, purple cabbage, and mixed greens all combine to give it a basic crisp coolness. The tuna is soft and savory, complimented by the crispy and salty wonton strips. Everything gets pulled together with a mix of a spicy mayo and sweet soy sauce. The sweetness of the soy sauce counteracts most of the spiciness of the mayo in a beautiful blend. The Sakura Del Sol is similar to the Yoki Amor, with a couple swaps such as tuna for salmon, and soy sauce for a sesame ginger sauce. Same accolades apply. The fish is always fresh tasting and never smells fishy. I thought the amount of fish in the bowl was reasonable for the price; you're not getting ripped off, but it's not necessarily a bargain. The rice is moist and perfectly slightly vinegary, making it great just by itself. All in all, I genuinely look forward to going to Yoki. read more

My boyfriend and I waited in line for quite a bit while an unmasked woman proceeded to order & also shut down one of the employees who offered her a mask. When the employee told another worker, the worker proceeded to state how he didn't believe COVID was real and didn't see the need for her to wear a mask. This was truly disheartening to see as the pandemic has deeply affected many families. My boyfriend and I couldn't stand to hear the fallacious conspiracies the worker and customers were speaking on and decided to leave. I actually like Yoki Express a lot more than I expected. They not only offer the cult obsessed poke bowls but also fun sushi burritos which I haven't seen in Boston before. It was nice that hubs could quickly pick it up after work on the way home and he wouldn't have to go out of his way just for some poke.
