Placed a Togo order online and it was very cold when I received it and honestly just not what I expected based on the reviews I have heard . The manager reached out to me immediately and I totally didn't expect that and followed up with a refund which was again very unexpected . I will be back to try the ramen next week. Another Poke Place in the books for me! I got a Make Your Own Regular Cold Proteins with White Rice, Fresh Tuna and Salmon, Corn, Seaweed Salad, Red Onion, Sriracha Mayo, Tobiko and Jalapeno - which is typically my "go-to" range of flavors give or take a few things. I enjoyed it and it was fairly fresh. The one thing that my coworkers didn't like was you couldn't mix the hot and cold proteins which we didn't know about until we got there, so they were super bummed about that. Unlike a lot of places, this Poke place charges an extra dollar for Fresh Tuna, which I think is silly since almost none of the others do. It was a tasty poke bowl and filling, as is every poke bowl I've consumed to date from all over the country. As far as poke/sushi burrito places go, this place is only ok. The big issue they have is that their rice doesn't seem to have any seasoning. It's standard to put sushi vinegar (which contains rice vinegar, sugar and salt) in rice used for sushi. I don't think this place does that, so their rice is really bland. To compensate, they end up dumping a ton of sauce on everything. This is both less healthy than using some sushi vinegar and also doesn't give the dish a good balance. You end up just being able to taste the sauce instead of the fish, vegetables and toppings. Other than the fact one of their key ingredients is lacking, it's decent. I was excited to have a poke location close to home but They have a shortage of toppings to add into your bowl (granted you're limited to four) and the protein doesn't taste as fresh as what I've had at other places. Also, they barely add sauce to your bowl so it's lackluster protein without a sufficient amount of sauce to mask this issue. That being said, Ill head to pokeworks in Davis Sq. It looks dark and gloomy looking in, but dine-in is definitely an option and I wouldn't worry about social distancing. We saw other customers walk in and out, or do take out. Their specialty seems to be sushi burritos, which I have to try next time. That being said, I opted for a poke bowl (first time!). To sum it up, it's pretty much a sushi in a bowl. Really disappointed. Fish didn't taste as fresh as others we've had, maybe because it was the end of the day. We ordered the mambo combo and the salmon. The girl that helped us was obviously new and didn't know how much to put on or wrap it very well. You have to learn somehow so no big deal, but she kept looking at the other worker for help which she didn't get. She put a lot less protein than the other worker gave and dropped a few more when attempting to roll it. The worker was nice and I'm sure will get better with practice. There is a reason why they say to stray away from empty places... Upon first sensory utilization of Yoki, I was slightly apprehensive. Against my better judgment, with three additional starving party members, we walked in. Despite being the only customers there, we were still waiting +10 minutes to begin our order. We each chose the custom poke bowl in hopes that we were too hasty in judging the book by its cover. Unfortunately, we were not. I noticed the server pushing fallen food items on the counter BACK into the serving containers and then proceed to scoop those very fallen items into my bowl. The raw fish options were very few and did not appear too fresh (only salmon and ahi). The seaweed looked fresh, but looks can be deceiving as we all know... The first bite of my seaweed salad was a frozen spoonful of disappointment. The other options did not taste its price at all (limited to only three toppings and two proteins???). I could not even finish my bowl in fear of food poisoning. We were also too ambitious and ordered their boba. AVOID. It was only after ordering that we noticed my friend's boba tea was labelled to be days old- clearly not freshly made as advertised. Additionally, the boba pearls themselves were mushy and clumped together- clearly also not freshly cooked as advertised. In short, perhaps there are better poke places you should consider going to. Ahhh! Was in the area and saw that they had poke bowls and sushi burritos which I haven't seen since I moved from SF! I opted to make my own poke bowl, and was overall satisfied. Two scoops of fish ends up being $11.50, which is a little pricey considering that the portion size isn't big by any means. The fish is fresh though! I had salmon and tuna and was pleased by the chunk size and taste of the fish itself. Again, the scoop size is a little on the smaller size. They give a wayyy larger ratio of rice:fish than most places. They do have a pretty large selection of sauces, including ponzu, sweet soy sauce, spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, etc etc which makes the bowl so much better. Let me say that the fact that I asked for brown rice but was given white and then failed to notice that it was actually white rice is ON ME. However it did contribute to my dissatisfaction. Portion sizes across the board were SMALL. Sauce selection is WEAK and were heavy and mostly mayo based. Not to mention they ding you a dollar per tiny scoop for avocado and ahi tuna. Rice in both was mushy and did not taste like sushi rice. Salmon in both was absolutely discussing. It was all white fat cut up belly junks. I am stunned they serve that as salmon. Asked for refund and was told they can't issue a refund as their manager was not there. This is purely about grubhub order with Yoki. In grubhub, they allow you to add salmon to the large hot 3 protein salad. And charge you extra for it. However when I arrived to pick up, Yoki employee said that that combination is not available and insists that grubhub did not charge me extra even though it's clearly on my grubhub bill and my credit card statement. What's worse, the Yoki employee insists that this has been happening for a long time now, and blamed it completely on Grubhub. And told me I need to speak to GrubHub to get this fixed for them! WTF, I really didn't care about the extra $1 charge, nor the fact that I had to ask to get tofu added to my three protein order that included tofu. I would have been fine with all that. But the attitude that I, the customer has to fix an issue a restaurant has known about for a long time and did not bother to do anything about is just ridiculous. I mean the only conclusion can be their incompetence and/or greed. After all, most people like me who got taken this way probably would never bother calling grubhub to get a refund for a buck, just not worth the time. You can build your own bowl or sushi burrito (maki roll) and 2 scoops of fish are $11 and 3 scoops are $14, which I think are not cheap considering how small the scoops are :( They don't have as many topping options as some other poke places (for example, Pokeworks), but the bowl I built with half rice/half salad tasted decent and was pretty filling. My workplace has ordered from here a couple of times now. The poke bowls are solid and full of fresh, crisp veggies. I agree with other reviewers that it's a little skimpy on the fish. The tuna that was in my bowl however was delicious and buttery in flavor. Not fishy tasting at all. My favorite thing to get from here though are the sushi burritos! I've always been skeptical about how well this concept works but they're like a giant hand roll with more veggies. They're a messy endeavor but they're delicious. I especially like the shrimp tempura one here (I think it's called the Ninja?). The shrimp are heavy on the breading but they don't skimp on the shrimp overall so it feels more substantial than the poke bowls. Prices are reasonable. The mambo combo was the first poke bowl I've ever had (in my life- so sad). SO DELICIOUS. I asked for a rice bowl and watched the guy make it. Looked simple enough. Greens, radishes, some purple cabbage and of course a scoop of salmon and tuna. I thought the scoops were small but honestly it was enough fish! He mixed the fish with spicy mayo and sweet teriyaki sauce and that was that. A little masago to top it off and I was off. Since it seemed so simple I couldn't believe how delicious it was.
