Sweet Potato Roll Steamed Edamame Sparkling Oolong Tea (Passion Fruit)

The inside is so cute! I love the graphics and the handwritten menu. Theres also physical laminated menus and a menu on a big flatscreen. Very accessible. The guy at the cash register was so kind! He greeted us when we came in and he had a very pleasant attitude throughout our interactions. We were also waved goodbye to when we left by another one of the employees. Everyone inside was smiling and joyful! It made for a pleasant experience. NOW! Let's get to this food! I got the sweet potato roll... DELISH. It was so flavorful, and the potatoes were the perfect texture. Good combination of crunchy/flaky and soft/tender. They also give you pretty generous helpings of wasabi and ginger, imo. I also got the edamame. Great texture, not too salty. And my goodness the portions are HUGE!! I got like a whole little carton of edamame and my friend got the side of fried rice which was so gigantic it was basically a meal. Overall, this was one of the most pleasant dining experiences I have had. From the vibes, to the service, to the yummy food and large portion sizes, it was a delight. I will definitely return here when I come back to Boston.

Hi guys, this is the Seacoast Food Blogger back in action, here today at Pick-n-Roll in the Emerson College area next to Boston common, stopped here for a quick bite before going to the theater today , and I must say "this place is the BOMB"!!!!!!! I am fairly critical of a good poke bowl and I was not disappointed, so good, with a capital G. I rank this in the top 2 bowl places I have ever been to. I am sure the rest if the menu is just as good, but that will need to wait till next time!!!! Can't wait to come back!!!! Check this "Hidden Jem" out just off the south end of Boston

I was guided to my party right away, offered warm or cold water, and immediately felt welcomed -- the kind of service that lets you settle in and enjoy your evening. Our server was gracious throughout the meal -- answering questions, checking in at just the right moments, and making sure we had everything we needed. Now let's talk food -- because Zaku lets you choose your own experience. If you want to keep it simple, grab some sushi. If you want to take it up a notch, go for sushi and combo plates. If you're in the mood for something hearty, the entrée options deliver. They also offer wine, beer, and other spirits, so you really get to decide how you want to take flight. We ordered a variety: orange chicken with rice, a combo platter filled with everything from edamame to octopus, and I enjoyed shrimp tempura maki with bibimbap (they kindly removed the beef for me), plus miso soup and a Sprite. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The space is cozy yet lively, giving you room to relax and enjoy your meal. The menu is robust -- so many choices my guests had trouble deciding! Zaku gave great food, great service, and a great experience. I'll absolutely be back.

Extremely fresh fish with generous portions in a casual, underground space…read more I think this is a reasonably priced establishment for the level of fish (phenomenal) and service (reasonable and attentive, but not like a fancier sit down restaurant) that you get. I am always surprised at how full I am when I leave! I'm stuffed every time. There is complementary miso soup with all of the bowls I've tried, outlined below. I really loved all of the bowls I've tried but my favorites are probably the Sake Aisuru Don and Kuromon Don. I just prefer more salmon to more tuna though, and they're all very good! Food: - Sake Aisuru Don: their classic all-salmon bowl! I loved the larger cuts of salmon, and I was pleasantly surprised that even the more pulverized salmon was flavorful! - Kuromon Don: loved the yellowtail in this! Each fish comes with two pieces (except the mackerel for which there are four), and I liked the sampler style for the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and izumidai. - Maguro Toro Don: so much tuna! And all such high quality. The otoro was so fatty that it practically melted in my mouth without chewing. - Sake Maguro Hamachi Don: a mix of salmon, blue fin tuna, and yellowtail. I liked the yellowtail in this a lot and found that it stood out the most from the other two fish in this particular bowl!

Came to Boston for a work trip and really wanted to eat something light and healthier. I loved it…read moreso much I came back twice! I came during lunchtime on a Monday. It was adequately busy but still had seats open. The lunch menu is very affordable! If you can, I'd highly recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Service was really quick! Received my meal in like 5-7 mins after ordering. Fish was super fresh and I really liked the different textures in the Hoseki Don. I also added in negitoro. They gave me a big clump of it! The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!
