We were in the area and were looking for a quick & easy lunch. We saw the signs outside for 3 hand rolls for $10 and we were sold! We ended up getting 6 hand rolls each, with a total of 12 handrolls. The handrolls are pretty small. If you've been to some of the handroll spots in the city such as Matsunori, Mai, Nori nori, etc, these are much SMALLER but I did like that they kept the rice minimal! Note: if you're not a fan of wasabi, they do put wasabi + very salty soy sauce inside the roll w/ the rice which isn't noted on the menu. I personally love wasabi though! We had asked for some soy sauce since we didn't know they put both soy sauce + wasabi in the handrolls lol. I think that the 3 rolls/$10 is a great deal. Quality of fish is not bad. Handrolls we got: - Alaska (salmon + avocado) -hamachi (3) - spicy tuna (2) -spicy yellowtail (2) -spicy salmon -eel - baked salmon (2) I would definitely come back for the handroll deal but would avoid getting the fried calamari. It took the longest to arrive to the table & we believe it was just frozen calamari that they dressed up slightly. The rings had no squid flavor or texture & made me question if it even had squid inside or just fried batter LOL. Wouldn't recommend the fried calamari. read more

A pretty sizeable sushi restaurant on Boylston Street. It's dimly lit and there are other colored light strategically placed in plants and other spots. The Thai tea looked bright red until I realized it was just the lighting. The place is big which is nice. Plenty of seating. They offer a list of handrolls which can be sampled for $5 each or 3 for $10. They're pretty average but if you want to eat cheap, 6 handrolls for $20 isn't bad. The more upscale selections, for more money, include Toro and uni combos and a tuna with jalapeño and dried shallots... that one was my favorite. Recommend it. Their sushi rice is on point though. Really well prepared. Service was friendly. Overall, it was decent. It sits somewhere in the middle.. not being particularly cheap if that is what you want and not being high end with better ingredients. The Nigiri were a bit hacked up but still tasted good. Not bad at all and if you're in the area, it's worth a stop. I have so many go to sushi places on my short list, but this won't be added since it kind of doesn't fill a niche for me. read more

We had a bad experience here. The food overall is 3 stars - my lunch nigiri bowl was very skimpy and the fish was poorly cut. The flavors were barely there and I left hungry. My friend liked the lemon grass chicken. The spicy sushi roll was mostly bright orange mayonnaise. What really killed us was that my husband ordered toro nigiri along with some other sushi. We eat toro frequently, the king of tuna, and it is always decadent and appetizing. What my husband received was a thick, shapeless, crooked, grey lump over rice. It was the color of boiled beef tendon and NO FISH looks like that. I wish I'd taken a photo. We asked them to remove it from the plate (they didn't apologize or acknowledge how unacceptable this was - how could a sushi chef even plate that?!), and my husband was so put off by the experience that he couldn't eat the rest of the meal. Thankfully they recognized this and didn't charge us for his portion. The cocktails were fine. We've been going here for years, particularly because their white sangrias are definitely something to write home about (and I literally have). The sushi had always been good, but maybe not amazing. The most recent time I went for food I noticed some of their dishes (namely calamari and spicy tuna crispy rice) have slightly changed which I didn't love, but, again their sangria and maybe a side of sashimi is enough to bring me back every time. We've been enough for staff to recognize us (yes, that's slightly embarrassing) but they're so kind! Even offered us a shot on the house when we were celebrating a birthday! I particularly love it here when it's warm in Boston because you can sit in the patio and enjoy? I really wanted sushi and the place had good reviews and it was walkable from where I was staying plus the menu had squid. Squid is my favorite and not many places have it on the menu. Well they ran out of squid and I should have left at that point. So I order the sashimi sampler. The fish tasted ok not the best but I like to bite it in half when I eat and that wasn't possible. So not great fish. The back bay roll had avocado in it and it was so brown. At this point I didn't want to order anything else. Sushi Burrito $13 Big sushi roll with lettuce, avocado, gobo, kanikama, sesame seeds, tangy kabayaki sauce with your choice of protein (Shrimp Tempura!) Unagi Buns $10 two pieces, broiled eel, cucumber, oshinko, yama-gobo, kabayaki, and steamed rice buns The shrimp used in my sushi burrito were about pencil thin, so definitely not one of those shrimp cocktail sized creatures. However crab surimi filled in the role of meat in the burrito. I did however think I spotted (and tasted) a bit of wasabi tucked in the burrito. The steamed buns were filled with a colorful hodgepodge of matchstick vegetables and TWO slices of eel apiece. What more can you ask for? I ordered takeout here for me and my boyfriend on a weeknight. Overall, the experience was pretty average. We both ordered teriyaki bowls (chicken for him and tofu/veggie for me). His chicken bowl was "mediocre" and nothing to rave about. The tofu in my bowl was pretty dry, and I was disappointed to see that the veggies were mostly mushrooms & asparagus stems (not many tops). The sauces on both bowls were just okay. Portion sizes were slightly below expected: it's about the size of a Panda Express bowl if you're familiar with that. I LOVE creme brûlée cheesecake so I think that's what really pulled me in but it was $9 for this tiny slice and it wasn't even memorable. We started with the Shrimp Rangoon which was well prepared and not greasy, with an amazing chili sauce. A generous amount of salmon cooked beautifully on top of fresh steamed rice with a delightful homemade teriyaki sauce.
