The decor of this place really stood out to me. It's ambiance gave me perfect date night vibes or even a girls night out dressed up. I went for lunch, so the vibes doesn't hit the same but I can see the evenings being amazing. I met family for an early lunch before I caught my flight back home. One of us has a nut and shellfish allergy and they were able to accommodate as best as they could, which I appreciate for an Asian restaurant. We ordered tea, which I enjoyed. We were started off with a cold cabbage in chili sauce and I was pleasantly surprised. It's got vinegar and chili oil, so you have the mix of tangy, spicy, and add to the crunch- Wow. I went home and tried to look up a recipe because I loved it so much. We also shared the wonton with chili sauce which was delicious as well. The boiled chicken wasn't bad but it is a simple cold dish- so don't expect boiled chicken to be a warm dish. The sweet and sour pork was good. Next time, I'd like to try the steam egg and truffle. I probably wouldn't order the chicken again, but give me the cabbage starter and wonton in chili sauce all day, everyday.

It's a high end intro to more traditional Chinese food for the American palate. We waited 40 mins late Saturday night so definitely jump on the waitlist and then wader Boston Commons. My favorite dish was the braised pork belly with black tea sauce. It was sweet and savory with hawthorn berries. The mapo tofu was spicy and numbing without being too spicy. The sea bass with pine nuts and sweet and sour sauce was very nicely presented in a squirrel cut pattern. I liked how they kept the head and tail. My least favorite was the beef and tomato fried rice. The rice was mushy and there are definitely better fried rice elsewhere.

JiangNan had some great dishes! I didn't try the peking duck on this visit, but the house specials were still excellent. The braised pork belly was prepared really well; the sauce was decadent without tasting like a pile of sugar, and the meat itself was very tender. The crispy tofu was also great, lots of spices and a nice golden breaded crust made for a good vegan dish (but that's why I didn't get to try the peking duck...). And the pineapple beer was a fun drink, it's about 50/50 beer and pineapple juice so it was more of a cocktail than an actual beer. The line for a table was a chaotic experience. I know that popular restaurants are always a bit of a mess, especially those that don't take reservations. But this place was especially disorganized, it took a while to get seated fora party of two, and even then, it was a consolation bar spot. I hope they can get more organized in the future!

Come for the Peking duck! 10/10. This is an elevated version of a Chinese family-style restaurant located in the heart of downtown Boston. Exactly what we needed after a trip of lobster rolls and fried food. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive! They also have a selection of dishes that incorporate black truffle which was intriguing. We got the chicken and truffle soup dumplings and it was so good! I'd recommend!

Came here for a work dinner and had a fantastic time! Delicious cocktails though not the strongest! The food was even better!! Overall we ordered half of duck, pork soup dumplings, ribs, boneless chicken and mapo tofu! My personal standouts were the soup dumplings and chili wontons! Service could have been a little faster / we would have liked them to check on us more but overall the food was delicious and came out fast and we had a great dinner!!!!

You had to get their pecking duck! Not only that it's authentic but every component was made to perfection. You also should make reservations if you plan to eat here, and plan to come early because stress parking is really hard to find. It feels grand inside with all the chandeliers, however the bathroom situation is where I take one star off. Very dirty compared to how nice this restaurant is.

JiangNan is a beautiful Chinese restaurant that serves more refined Chinese food. The service is attentive and the dishes are beautifully presented. I love trying Chinese restaurants with my parents because they always pick the best dishes to order. JiangNan offers some different Chinese and Shanghai dishes we don't normally get to have. We ordered a wide variety of dishes and we all enjoyed our dinner. The Peking Duck is a must order. The dish is beautifully presented with the duck sliced and all the condiments on a tray. The duck meat is tender and flavorful with the crispy skin attached. I like the paper thin wrappers. The boiled fish with mustard greens was delicious. This "sour fish" dish is hard to get and it's made really well here. The broth is light, sour from the mustard greens and the fish was very tender and flaky. The salted egg prawns were delicious. The sizzling cumin lamb was impressive as it was lit on fire table side. The pork belly was just ok for me. I thought the pork was just a bit dry. Otherwise, the dishes were well made. We enjoyed our family dinner.

We came for a birthday with 9 people. Felix, our waiter, was excellent, patient, and fun. The food was very flavorful and all different. I will say though there was A LOT of garlic and salt so just a disclaimer. We ordered the duck which was sweet goodness. The lamb skewers with the chili spice were delightful especially the torching at the table. The pork and crab soup dumplings were also a highlight. The crab rice was orange with pumpkin puree which was a unique combination that actually worked. The green beans and pea shoots were delicious classics. The fried mushrooms were also a fan favorite. So many good options! The whole meal and experience was wonderful for the celebration.

People kept telling us to give this spot a try! We managed to snag a parking spot right out front and made it in about 1h45 before closing. The space is super cute, fits right in by Boston common. Service was great, staff continually make sure you have what you need and refills water cups! The food i would say gives me a comfort food type vibe. The flavors were clean not heavy on sodium, but the spice level? Nothing was actually spicy, not even a hint (except for the free salad you get to start in hot oil) Beef stir fry with chili - liked this dish, the beef was so tender it was my personal favorite but wish it was spicier like the menu suggested. Not remotely a kick to the lip or a tingle. Stir fried string beans- cooked well again not spicy but gives the salt and pepper style HK flavor profile. Braised pork belly with bamboo shoots, flavor was savory, somewhat sweet but the down side was our braised pork was DRY. We didn't finish that dish. tofu and crab meat- actually really liked this dish, flavor was balanced, creamy, you can taste the crab meat. Soup dumplings crab and pork - we liked this a lot, a friend said one of the best soup dumplings in the city. Broth was tasty, came out hot and the highlight vinegar you typically toss inside it before eating and slurping the soup within, was fantastic. For the cost, i wish the spicy claims were more realistic, i know it's subjective but even our friend who can't handle black pepper said it wasn't spicy haha. And our pork belly was soooo dry it was just tough to eat.

What a fantastic Sunday evening dinner! Service was very quick to get me seated and take my order. Bright dining room with plenty of seating. I ordered the half Peking duck. Let me tell you... the flavor was out of this world! Best I've had. Nicely thin cut strips of duck, with ample crispy skin. The wraps were good and assembling was fun. If you're craving high quality Chinese at this Boston - NYC Transplant - I'd highly recommended JiangNan!

Overall, very impressed with this place! If you want an easy intro into Chinese food, this is a good spot. I'm not sure if it's exactly authentic, since it's definitely on the more upscale side, but the food seemed pretty fresh and was delicious. They're known for their duck, so definitely give it a try! The vibes are nice, with more polished decor and the restaurant was very clean. Great service too. I'd happily come back!

Had some really great food from an event where they ordered from JiangNan. Some highlights: Sauteed Pork Belly with Green Pepper - the pork belly was so nicely thinly sliced with just the right amount of meat and fat. The pepper added a nice freshness to this dish - making it really balanced! Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin - these sweet and sour pork strips were nice and meaty with a wonderful sauce very reminiscent of King Do Spare Rib sauce. Mapo Tofu - Wonderfully silky tofu with a nice and flavorful sauce! Eggplant - I LOVE this dish - it's the perfect soft texture packed full of flavor without any bitterness. Perfect on rice! Bacon fried rice - This was pretty good - you could tell it was bacon instead of ham for sure, and I mainly used it as a base for the other dishes. Crispy chicken in blueberry sauce - Never seen this before but it's a take on orange chicken or general gaos since it's crispy and in a sweet and tangy sauce. Besides the actual blueberries in this, I didn't not much blueberry flavor, but it was great nonetheless! Really solid food options with tons of really delicious proteins from this restaurant!

Upscale chinese restaurant. It was easy to get a reservation for 10 people! They paid attention to the interior details and it has a grand vibe when you walk in. The prices are steep as expected compared to the normal restaurants. Service was great and our server gave good recs on what to order and how many dishes to get for a large party. The peking duck was great especially with all the accompaniments - i love their thin wrap a lot! Their braised pork belly was classic as well.

    Do the deliver?

You have to order through 3rd party.

How long do meals/service usually take? I have a reservation for 5, but another event 15 minutes away at 7 and I was wondering if that was enough time.

They do serve fast, especially when they just opened.

Do I need to make a reservation on a weekday?

I would suggest making a reservation if your party is larger than 4.

Do they do catering at all. I am having birthday party for about 20 not too far from the restaurant?

Not sure but try to give them a call and I am sure they can let you know.

Do you need to call and order the Peking Duck ahead of time? I don't see it on the menu

Ate there for dinner last night (a Monday night), did not have to preorder Peking Duck server said that had received a shipment that day after they ran out on Sunday after a very busy weekend.

Today is Friday 10/27 and I've been trying to call them to make a reservation, but their phone is always busy. Is there another way I can make a reservation?

Unfortunately no. My recommendation is well try another restaurant. Also, call the another time for example as soon as they open and give the a complain.

    Reservations on open table?

You can only make reservations on their website, and they require four or more people.

    Is there a dress code?

    No dress code.

    Where can we park?

Boston Common garage is close and an easy walk.

Can I make reservations online for the restaurant or I have to call?

To my knowledge it's just by phone

Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory.
