Had dinner there with my family when we were traveling near Washington DC. Great service and delicious foods!

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The food is awesome very good flavor more than enough portions. The entire staff are incredibly friendly and the place is very clean. The desert that is included with lunch specials is not just a fortune cookie. My new favorite Chinese restaurant. If you like hot & sour soup theirs is the best. read more

Juices are excellent - so fresh and make you feel like you're doing something good for your body. The food... We lived in rockville for 6 years and know Taiwanese food, so we we super excited to try Yen's. We ordered eggplant basil, beef noodle soup, and head-on salt and pepper shrimp. Food was good but not great, and everything was overly greasy. Service was very very good - our waitress' English was limited but she was very attentive and kind, and overall everyone was super nice and accommodating, especially to our two young kids. We will probably be back to give them another try given that the service and juices were great, but we were disappointed with the food this first time around. read more

Best deliver Chinese food in Ashburn and I've tried them all. Food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. The quality is higher than other chinese delivery restaurants- for example, they use white breast meat in their General Tso's rather than cheaper dark meat. Very sweet staff and usually fast delivery. read more

Delicious food! Excellent service! Sweet staff & great prices! We love this place and will be going back.

Food tasted ok, they claim no msg, no salt, but full of soy sauce, so still very salty American Chinese food. customers service is terrible. will never come back again. read more

Very authentic taste of Taiwanese food! Staffs are also very friendly and take your consideration very seriously. It's a little bit pricy comparing other Chinese restaurants, but the cost reflects on all fresh food which I hardly see in most Chinese restaurants. Hope they can open more branches closer to downtown DC. BTW, I was thinking to taste tea but scare by the note that breaking glassware may result $200 charge... read more

Quite pricy but tasty!! Food comes with good portion so don't order too many. People there are very nice. A great place to go.

Amazing food with a large menu and something for everyone! Fresh fruit smoothies and juice and loose leaf tea. They even have these little fried custard desserts! read more

I love their Chinese food. They are very friendly people and are eager to help you! Reasonable prices and a cute little place. I first came because I wanted some cheap chicken fried rice near my house. I ordered from this cafe and I got an automatic discount because I ordered online. This is the best chicken fried rice I have ever had. I went back the next day and ordered it again. read more

Yen's Cafe - Half eaten chicken fried rice. Enough to share! - Taiwanese Near Me - Ashburn, Virginia

The 3 cup rice was great! The Yen's special rice is also good. Great customer service.

My several experiences in this Restaurant were always positive. They're busy but that's just a good signal. Nice people. The food in general is excellent but the fried rice is insanely awesome. Thanks for perseverance in the Ashburn area despite some sad comments. read more

Excellent high quality vegetarian options available. Very nice tea and awesome people.

Top notch chinese food. Thay also had a nice selection of teas. Small but good atmosphere.

Perhaps the chef went on vacation, but this was the worst Chinese food ever. Spring rolls - fine. Soup - different from the normal wonton soup although the wontons spent way too much time in the broth. The roast pork lo mein and shrimp fried rice were both disasters. The lo mein had almost no flavor, and certainly not roast pork I'm used to. The shrimp fried rice was more like steamed rice with poached, undercooked tired shrimp. We tried a little of each and the rest went down the garbage disposal. Our previous favorite Chinese place went under new management and we were looking for a replacement. This isn't it. read more

We have been going here for years. The crispy beef is amazing. Definitely recommend over any other places around here.

Where to start. It's very cozy. It's clean. The people are very friendly. And the food, oh the food, is absolutely fantastic. I've spent years trying to find a place as good as this. The food was fresh (including the fantastic smoothies - try one, seriously) and delicious. When I was little, my Dad and I used to go to a local chinese restaurant in my hometown and have hot and sour soup together. It was spicy, but the broth and the goodies inside were so tasty that despite the tears running down our faces from the spices - we couldn't stop eating it! For the next twenty years I have searched for a place that didn't "over corn starch" their soup or "over soy sauce" it or under spice it for that matter. I have finally found the best rival to my favorite soup from "way back when" at Yen's Cafe, it was fantastic and it brought back so many wonderful memories. Fantastic soup aside, I also very much enjoyed my szechuan (sp) beef, my husband loved his chicken lo mein, and again, did I mention the awesome (and unexpectedly fantastic) smoothie??? Oh, and the pictures in the menu were great. Regarding reservations, as I said before, it's cozy, we've made reservations to go again, but on a Friday night this time - and we're taking friends! read more

Went because I love good Asian food and had gotten frustrated by the quality around my house here. Heard of Yelp for the first time, and agreed with many of the reviewed places. So I went there last night. We had the Orange-Eucalyptus tea - it was about $6 for two - and it was very, very good. The soup (Wonton and Sweet and Sour) were very good. Then, we had Avocado Cucumber salad as an appetizer. I don't usually like anything in that salad, but the dressing (homemade) was awesome, and the ingredients were very fresh - so I ended up having some rather than just tasting. Finally we had the Ma Po Tofu and the Sizzling Beef. Both were good. In the end I gave the place five stars because the services was very good, the waitress was helpful recommending the tea, and friendly, and nothing was "bad" about the experience. I hope they continue to get more business and look forward to going back to try more things! read more

After looking at reviews here, I decided to take my girls and their cousin there for lunch today. Excellent food with very friendly service. We had Spring Rolls, Ma Po Tofu and Lo Mein. Everything was good. Kids loved it (age 4 - 8 and 11). Even heard one of them say, Lo Mein was the best they had. Food had more oil than I am used to at Chinese places. But I will be going back there. read more

Delicious food and quick delivery. This was our first time ordering but I am sure with this great experience we will be back. All dishes were very fresh and the beef and cilantro soup was amazing. read more

Awesome little place tucked away. The food is spot on especially the hot and sour soup! I haven't tried the large tea variety really just their food and have yet to be disappointed yet. read more

Just went there for the first time and the food was great!!! The staff was very friendly and courteous. I'm glad we found this place and will definitely be our favorite Chinese Restaurant. Can't wait to try their entire menu. We had Chicken in black bean sauce and Taiwan ricenoodle combination. Both dishes were great and had enough to take home. A must try place !!! read more

We love Yens, their food is consistently good. We normally order our food online for delivery and the service is fast. If you dine in, beware, the place only has a few tables but worth the wait. Their general's chicken and orange chicken are great! Not heavily breaded like most places. Crab wontons are good too! I always order either sweet and sour shrimp or the crispy seasame shrimp, I'm addicted! read more

Crispy sesame beef was amazing. Ordered carry out and it comes with no lid (very smart to keep it crispy) fried rice was great generals chicken was yummy and the veggie Lo-mein + crab wantons were on point! This place is great, fresh, not too oily, and we will be back! read more

This place is simply the best Chinese restaurant I've ever visited. They are in their own league when it comes to the deep flavors on every dish I have tried. Even their plain fried noodle(just noodles, no meat nor veggies) will satisfy me over a full menu from another restaurant. No really, you should try their plain fried noodles. It is amazing. It tastes so fresh and so flavorful. Also their kung pao chicken and general tsaos chicken/beef/shrimp(I've tried all three, all good). I've heard they have this authentic Taiwanese menu but I haven't got to it yet. Their American menu still got more for me to try. I live in Herndon, but I would always drive 12 miles for this good Chinese restaurant every time. read more

We went to Yen's cafe because of all the good reviews. We ordered a combo Lo Mein and a Pan Fried beef noodles. The food was ok but they were way over priced. The Lo Mein was $8 and was in very small portion, while the Pan Fried Noodles was a bit larger but it was $17! We can go to Good Fortune with same kind of food but is way cheaper. We will not be back! read more

This little place is a gem in Ashburn! The food is consistently tasty, the staff is very pleasant and welcoming, and the specialty teas are very unique. Try any of their teas with the dried honey (no sugar!) Presentation is always top notch too. Love this place! read more

See all

I tried it. I did not like it. I did not like the food very much. Weird soggy General tso, stale tasting fried rice. All cream cheese crab Rangoon. Luke warm food. Lol...I feel I was charged a considerable amount for food that I could have gotten for significantly more reasonable price from other neighborhood restaurants that are tastier for American Chinese food. Not great despite positive reviews in my opinion. Sorry? read more

Food is 5 star. Service is 5 star. Portion size/value is 5 star (LOTS of food for the price!). Taiwanese chicken lived up to the hype for sure. Then the Taiwanese donuts (free at the end)... so good. Go here JUST for the donuts. Seriously, you'll understand when you try them. I could write an entire 8 paragraph review on those alone. read more

Terrible services. When my family arrived, only one table was taken, but we were told that we can't be seated. People came after us who did not make reservation got seats. They treat customers with double standards. Food is salty. read more

The place is small, cozy, and friendly. The food was delicious and it was presented well on unique dishes. The chicken was amazing--this is real stuff!! Annnnd, the finish was perfect; we were given delicious buns for dessert. Perfect for a cloudy day lunch with a friend. read more

I am a fan. Small, family run, Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant with great tasting food. My son and I frequent there and love their Hunan chicken and fried rice. The service has always been great. My favorite Asian restaurant in the DC area. read more

Overrated and pricy restaurant. I don't mind restaurant charging high price but they have to deliver on the quality. I just order 3 dishes for delivery kapow chicken, crispy chicken and Thaiwan noodles with chicken. My god the food was horrendous, it is like they fried everything and delivered. Chicken is like rubber no taste and smelling bad too. Sesame Crispy chicken always used to my kids favorite, but today it was their nightmare. It was fried so much that there any chicken left and when we put the food in mouth forget about crispness, biting one piece of fried chicken is so chewy and hard. I paid $16 odd for this crappy dish. Coming to noodles dish it is equally horrible. The kapow chicken is like eating rubber, so dry. I eat so much Chinese food but this comes one of my all time crapy food. This is my first ever and last time I am going to visit this place. Stay away from this pricy restaurant. read more

Great food!! Went here with co-workers and love everything that we got!! Highly recommend!

Great food must try sesame chicken!!! I was visiting family in Virginia and they said I must try the best Chinese food and they were right about that! read more

Terrible place. They need to figure out how to treat their customers. When a tea pot breaks, you pay $180.00, how do they expect customers to come back after this experience of this. read more

I've come back here multiple times since this review and I want to update it. This food is AMAZING, but only if you get the more traditional Taiwanese dishes. The typical American-Chinese stuff like Lo-mein and Kung Pao chicken is ehhhh. But if you come to this awesome place and don't step out of your comfort zone you kind of deserve it. The portions are huge, I'd definitely get the dishes to share. Their crispy tofu with mushrooms and then spicy chicken with eggplant is my favorite. read more

Around here everything is fake Chinese food, made for the American pallette. Yens Cafe is as close to Taiwan as you can get here, without crossing the ocean. Food is fresh, delicious and they will prepare it to your taste. The staff is excellent, attentive and eager to help you enjoy your experience. Try the Taiwan style spicy chicken or the amazing Taiwan style meatballs. You won't regret it. read more
