Taiwan Burger, Popcorn Chicken, Braised Pork over Rice
    Michelle W.

This Taiwanese spot is tucked inside a gas station, but it's a solid place for a quick bite. Taiwanese popcorn chicken- Leaned on the saltier side especially since it doesn't come with rice. It also didn't have the crispiness I usually expect from this dish. The Taiwan Burger--It's official name, not a "pork bao bun" as some Yelp reviews mistakenly it for. The bao is firmer than I prefer the but the pork was tender and juicy. Braised pork bowl- A good value for the portion and quality.

Omg yes! We literally went on a roadtrip from northern Va to check this place out and I'm so glad we did. I grew up in the San Gabriel valley in LA, and Taiwanese food cannot be beat there.. so of course we had to go to the best Taiwanese restaurant in the dmv! It did not disappoint. The pork chop bento box was the right move. The pork chop was perfectly seasoned and crispy. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was fabulous. The stewed pork over rice was my daughter's favorite and she even did her yummy food dance. You can't go wrong- it tastes so authentic!

This place is on the pricier side but has the best Taiwanese style stewed pork over rice in the area (we've been to all of them). It's located in a gas station but there's some seating reserved for pickup orders. They also sell boba! Food is fresh made so it takes a bit to get, but I've yet to have a better stewed pork over rice (kong rou fan) anywhere, and I've been to all the Taiwanese restaurants in Rockville.

Taiwanese restaurant tucked inside a gas station with a couple tables and booths for seating. You can order at the kiosk or directly with staff, and the food comes out pretty quickly. The menu has a wide range of traditional Taiwanese dishes, all very reasonably priced. They also offer a nice variety of bento boxes, which make for a great lunch or a balanced dinner. I tried the Taiwanese fried chicken bento box, which came with rice, a bit of pork, fried chicken, and two seasonal sides. Mine included tofu bean curd and what I think was winter melon or gourd, pretty standard, comforting flavors. I also tried the Taiwanese rice noodles. The portion was generous, though the flavor was a little mild for my taste. Highlights: Taiwanese Fried Chicken (5/5): Incredibly crunchy, juicy, and well-seasoned. I think they use chicken thigh bits for the meat. So perfect. The crispy fried basil on top was such a nice touch. Honestly, better than Kentucky Fried Chicken, dare I say. There's also a water dispenser near the drink fridge and a sauce station up front, which is a nice bonus.

Food was mid. Nothing special. It's reasonably priced and in a gas station. I would not order the wings again. The soup was okay. Service and ambiance was below average (it's in a gas station). I would not eat here again.

Mhm, I am always skeptical of gas station foods, could be a hidden gem or not. The space inside is pretty small, typical gas station size, there are about three tables in the center and benches against the window. There's a water station and cups if needed. The ordering is through touch screen and you wait for the food to be called. So the food. I got the popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, and hamburger bao buns. The popcorn chicken was light, crispy, and good flavor and decent portion. Solid 4/5! The beef noodle soup, it was honestly just okay? The flavor a little lacking and the noodles were a little on the softer side than I would've liked. The beef....lots of gristle/fat and pretty thick cut. Honestly not used to having this thick cut of beef with so much fat on it...was a still somewhat tender but just wasn't my favorite or my style. 2/5 The hamburger bao buns were decent, interesting flavor and soft bao. The pork belly was tender ~ish but a little dry. 3/5 Overall, I'd just come for the chicken. The main drawback for me is the lingering cigarette smoke smell that seemed to come from the kitchen which is a huge turn off for me personally. And my personal pet peeve is just the plastics and disposable wear for the food. I feel like the hot soup in plastic just doesn't help with my appetite. But it does fit with the gas station vibe Interesting place for sure, might come back just for chicken and eat on the go

So this is the Amore Eats everyone was talking about. I'm late to the party, I know, but I have to say it was a great experience! It literally shares space with a gas station, so that means two tables for dining and rather limited parking. Otherwise, it's easy to spot from outside. I went in and there was one pair about to order. There are two touchscreen kiosks, and the staff are there to answer any questions too. I decided to try the popcorn chicken, braised pork rice, and 'burgers'... and a friend also got stinky tofu for the table to share. No complaints about anything, except for -- you guessed it -- the stinky tofu. It was my first time LOL. It tasted great, but that smell, whew. And whenever I would burp later, I could taste it in my throat XD. But in all seriousness, everything was fantastic. The menu has plenty of options, so I'm ready to explore more.

Amore is a hidden gem if you didn't know about this place. Yes, it's in a gas station but it's really a solid food destination where you get good food with no frills. I highly recommend the beef soup. It's hard to transport home so you'll have to eat it on the spot, but for a cold day, it really hits the spot. The service is quick and if you could overlook the cheap plasticware, the place is definitely worth a destination eat.

Food: 4/5 For a gas station food spot, this place is surprisingly good. Prices are on par with Panda Express, which makes it a solid value. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was a bit too salty, and since it doesn't come with rice, it was hard to finish the portion. The Taiwan Burger--which is the official name of the item, not a "pork bao bun" as some Yelp reviews incorrectly list it--was very good. The bao on the outside was slightly firm, but still enjoyable. The pork inside was soft, juicy, and well-seasoned, easily the highlight of the order. Service: -- Ordered to go. Ambiance: -- Ordered to go.

Pretty blown away by the food here. You qould never expect a location within a gas station could pump out food this good. The food wont bring you back to Taiwan but I would say it is pretty authentic. There are some differences but honestly I would definitely come here again and try more of the menu. There were only like 3 people working but they were still able to get the food out pretty fast. All the food had so much flavor. The only bad thing is that there aren't that many seats so we had to wait a little bit for people to leave before we could sit, but it makes sense because of the good food.

Ordering was straight forward and pretty easy. Got to try a couple of their popular menu items. Would totally recommend the popcorn chicken. Pretty authentic flavors. Glad we were able to check this place out.

I have heard about this "authentic Taiwanese hidden gem" for a while now, finally got to try it. We got the rice noodle, popcorn chicken, and pork trotters. Honestly, the food didn't wow me, the noodle was good portion but tasted a little bland, the popcorn chicken was crispy but I think I had better? I was excited for the pork trotters, because it's one of the rare Taiwanese/Chinese dishes that you can find here. Unfortunately, they are not cleaned well, the trotters still had some fur on it...I know...I had to remove the fur before eating them. There's no ambiance to mention, since it's in a gas station.

Hidden Gem! Don't let the location fool you -- yes, it shares a building with an Exxon, but the food here is fantastic. We ordered the pork braised rice, beef noodle soup, and Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and everything was outstanding. The beef in the soup was incredibly tender and came in huge pieces, the rice was rich and flavorful, and the popcorn chicken had a lighter, cleaner taste than most places without losing any flavor. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the kitchen really cares about quality. This place deserves way more attention than it gets. We'll definitely be back!

The Food Signature Gua Bao: The steamed bun is pillowy soft and holds up well against the rich, melt-in-your-mouth braised pork belly, paired with the classic dusting of peanut sugar, pickled greens, and cilantro. Popcorn Chicken: Exceptionally crispy, well-seasoned, and tossed with plenty of fragrant fried basil. Even after sitting for a bit, it kept its crunch. Lu Rou Fan (Braised Pork Rice): A proper bowl of comfort. The braised minced pork sauce is savory and fragrant, served over hot rice with pickled mustard greens and a well-marinated braised egg. Cold Side Dishes: Don't skip the pickled cabbage or the wood ear mushroom and cucumber salad--both give a bright, acidic crunch that cuts right through the rich meats. Free Dessert Tip: Scan the QR code or sign up for their rewards program at checkout for a free dessert. The taro sago is creamy, fragrant, and not overly sweet. The Space & Logistics Atmosphere & Seating: The vibe is clean, modern, and very casual. It's set up fast-casual style (order at the counter), and while indoor seating is on the cozier side, table turnover is fast enough that finding a spot hasn't been a hassle. Service: Counter staff are friendly and efficient. Food comes out surprisingly fast, neatly boxed, and piping hot. Parking: Located in a shopping plaza with a large open lot, so parking is easy and stress-free--a huge plus if you're just running in for a pickup.

I thought everything was really good, despite having somewhat confusing descriptions on the menu. The dumplings were super spicy and I only ate a few, and took the rest home. The portions are surprisingly large, the soup came with additional bowls which made sharing easy. The only downside is really the size and noise. It is a tiny restaurant, and it gets crowded, so it can be quite loud.

A solid spot for sharing with a group, and I'd happily return to explore more of the menu. I really wanted to love this place. The soup dumplings are among the better ones in the area. While the wrappers aren't as thin or chewy as the very best, you can tell they're handmade, and I'll always appreciate that. I'd recommend sticking with the pork soup dumplings since they were rich, savory, and full of umami. The crab version unfortunately didn't have any noticeable crab flavor and tasted almost identical to the pork. The duck came in a generous portion and is a great choice for anyone who enjoys sweeter flavors. The watercress was fresh and plentiful, but it could have used much more garlic. We ended up adding the wonton chili oil and dipping it for extra flavor. The cucumber was delicious, but the portion was way too small. The bean curd was cooked well, though there wasn't enough pork for a dish that was supposed to feature it. The fish was another highlight with light spice, a crispy exterior, and perfectly cooked, tender meat. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes. I enjoy the home-style cooking, and it's the kind of restaurant that's especially fun to visit with a larger group so you can sample a variety of dishes.
