    Pork bun

Every time I go to this mall, I have to stop by and get dumplings, specifically the pan fried pork buns! It's in the food court, so it's quick and easy service and good value for your money with the dumpling combo.

Walking through Montgomery Mall, we stopped by Dumpling for Life on a whim as we breezed through the food court and ordered a small (six pieces) Pan Fried Veggie Dumpling. The folks behind the counter were very friendly and the dumplings were out in a flash. Soft, tender, with a veggie mash and a few bits of corn and peas inside, they came with a soy dipping sauce and a spicy sauce (I preferred the soy version). Not bad for a little snack - I'll be back for the noodles soon. Hopefully Dumpling For Life will stick around for awhile.

My waitress said they had taken them off the menu but there was such an outcry they brought them back. The green beans had a very light coating on them and were delicious I can see why people complained about them being taken off the menu It also came with a trio of dipping sauces. The sweet chili was good but the green onion one was amazing. The bulgogi steak was very tender and delicious.

I ordered the Basil Fried Rice, which is described as coming with egg, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. I specifically requested no egg, no chicken, and double spicy green sauce on the side. Instead, I received plain fried rice with no egg, no chicken, no shrimp, and they didn't include the double green sauce I requested. Paying $15 for what was essentially plain fried rice was pretty disappointing. To make matters worse, the "green sauce" they did include wasn't even the usual spicy green sauce you get when dining in. It looked more like finely chopped green onions than the actual sauce. I also ordered Yaki Udon and requested double spicy green sauce with that as well--and once again, it was missing. It honestly felt like no one actually read my order. They seemed to go off muscle memory instead of following the modifications. Removing the shrimp entirely when I never asked for that just reinforces the impression that my order wasn't checked before it went out. The pickup experience wasn't much better. My order was sitting on the pickup shelf, clearly ready, but I had to flag down the host to retrieve it while a staff member stood just a few steps away. It would take less than a minute for the takeout staff to greet guests, confirm a name or order number, ask if anything else is needed, and hand over the order. The food at Hawkers is good--that's why I keep coming back--but the consistency of the takeout service needs work. Reading orders carefully and giving a little more attention to customers picking up their food would go a long way. Great food, but the execution and service didn't match.

We ate family style and ordered the scallion…read morepancakes, the spicy sesame paste tofu, the spicy oil wonton pork, the chive and pork dumplings and the sesame balls (filled with red bean paste). Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

The Caesar salad was incredible so much so that I genuinely think they should bottle and sell that dressing in stores. And the raspberry cheesecake? It absolutely gave me life. It was rich, creamy, and so delicious that I'm still thinking about it. For our entrées, we ordered the Hawaiian pizza, spicy rigatoni, and spaghetti carbonara. While everything was good, the pizza and the rigatoni were my clear favorites. I also tried their sushi and was pleasantly surprised by how much it resembled traditional sushi in both texture and flavor. It was a fun and delicious experience. What impressed me most was the quality and creativity of the menu. There's truly something for everyone, whether you're vegan or not. The restaurant itself feels bright, airy, and inviting. It's the kind of place where you can easily gather with friends, family, or even enjoy a date night. The service was excellent, and our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. I have walked past this restaurant a more than a few times but never have experienced it before. I use the word experience because it was an experience. I am not a vegan but that doesn't matter when you come here. From the moment we entered the establishment it gave off a Scandi, but friendly vibe. We were greeted by a young man with wonderful hair! You know who you are. He gave us menus, explained to us a little bit about the restaurant and allowed us to take our time. After looking through the menu, we decided to sit down. He went to prepare our table, then showed us to a wonderful outdoor seating area. Our server, Ava came out to great us . She was just fabulous and assisting us to try a little bit of everything. She had high praise for the chef and she was right. She was both courteous and friendly. We visited during happy hour. We had two drinks. My honey had Apreol spritz and I had a Mezcal maybe. Both drinks were delicious and well-made. Next came the delicious food. We had the kimchi baos, spicy tuna maki roll, the spicy tuna hand roll, and the summer roll. The last thing we ordered was the udon noodles. All of the food was delicious, but I must say that the udon noodles were a standout. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the creamy sauce gave me my first food epiphany! We didn't try everything on the menu, but I'm sure there are more delicious gems to be had. If you are in the Bethesda area and want vegan food that is full of flavor and deliciousness? This would be my first choice... And I'm not even a vegan!

They seemed to acknowledge everyone other than me who was there for takeout, but I finally got mine. I tried a fried rice and was irritated that there was a no egg option but not a no broccoli option (not a Chinese vegetable mind you), which left me with little more than a colored rice to pick through. The tofu with hot peppers hit a nice heat but not the best rendition of this dish I've had in terms of flavor complexity. The best thing I got was a dan dan noodle dish with some vicious sauce and little tofu bites. Overall though, scant portions for the money, and not quite the experience I was hoping for.

Their entrees are bursting with flavor and at such a good price point for Bethesda. Their menu is on the walk when you walk in and you order from the person at the counter.
