a bowl of soup on a table
    Parvez K.

There are a few types of food that I would, if needed, be happy to subsist upon. Uyghur food is one of them. Bostan Uyghur lived up to our hopes. It has that tangy spiciness of Uyghur cuisine, with a fresh feel to each dish. Everything tasted lovely--the kabobs, noodles, beef, lamb, bread, and samsa. I will say the Chinese noodle soup was good, not great. Its flavor was more flat, even though it looked nice. Intimate place that's great for takeout. Very high quality Uyghur cuisine. Lovely. Highly recommend.

    Lamb kebab

I came in the after on a Sunday and the place was packed ( no empty tables). So, I decided to do a to go order rather than do dine in. I ordered three items: the beef pitot manta (dumplings), a lamb kebab, & dry fried somen with chicken (noodles). The wait time for the to go order was more than 45 minutes. I would have been fine with this if it was communicated to me that that would be the wait time. My main issues were that when I placed the order, the cashier did not let me know it would take this long and that there are only two seats available for people waiting ( for dine in & to go orders). So a good portion of the time ended up being me standing in the narrow doorway. I will note that there was only one guy working as both the server & cashier so I figured there would be a wait, I just wish I knew it would be 40-50 minutes. In terms of the food, the beef manta was overcooked and so my dumplings had burst. Additionally, I wish the actual dumpling itself was slightly more salty as it tasted underseasoned. The lamb kebab had amazing, spicy flavor but it was overcooked and the meat was tough. The dry fried chicken somen was probably my favorite dish. It had very light, subtle flavor and had a very good cook on the noodle. The noodle was amazingly soft and tender so I commend the cook on those. However, I do wish there were more chicken that came in the noodles. Overall, I would only come back here for the noodles as the kebab & dumplings were disappointing and not well executed. Also, if you decide to come here, please note that it is a smaller place with only 4 sit down tables and 2 chairs for waiting guests. If you do opt for a to go order, I recommend you do a call in order at least 30 -40 minutes prior to the time you'll come to pick up the food.

    Eggplant Salad

I am a huge sucker for eggplant dishes, and this one is no joke the best I have had! My only regret is not getting bread to dip and scoop. It is a hot eggplant salad with lots of garlic and spices, sitting in a soy based savory sauce. The kebabs were very flavorful, just a bit dry. I will definitely order again and next time double eggplant and bread. Excellent!!!

    Samsa

It's a really small hole in the wall type place. The price is okay but the amount is not much. Food is good and pretty authentic. Some of it like the samsa is reheated.

For example, the Panfried Pork Bun used to be my favorite item here but they've changed the recipe significantly. The pork filling used to be a lot larger and juicier...but now when you break open the bun, the filling is so small that half of the bun doesn't even have any meat. 80% of the bun is just dough and it's not fried well and quite greasy. Everything overall was way too greasy, including the crueller and the dry noodles were swimming in oil. I did like the texture of the noodles, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the oiliness of the broth it was sitting in. It's really sad to see this place fall short since it opened a couple years ago. I'm hoping that they can improve their quality of food as it's really gone downhill since opening.

They were slammed. And I think they did a great job with the demands of the patrons. Let me explain the 1 star rating. My friend raised her glass to take a sip of her cocktail. The entire bottom broke from the top and spilled the contents over 4 people. Half my pants leg was covered. Another had her purse drenched. Another her shoes were soaked. The one with the drink - her entire pants was soaked. My friends husband talked to the bar manager and he said he would comp us (4) a drink. So we told the bartender what our friends husband said. The bar manager came over and said he is only going to comp my friends drink that exploded. We all looked at him like "WTF just happened?" His bar back cleaned up the mess around us and saw all the liquid on the ground and stools. I don't even think they check to see if we were ok. The 3 of us paid our tabs and left. I haven't been to Tiki Thai much this year but when I had, I never had an issue. The service from the bar manager was appalling to say the least. There are so many restaurants in Reston Town Center that we can spend our money at and we will from now on.

Jinya Ramen Bar offers a trendy, modern, metropolitan atmosphere. The space has a lively energy, with techno/disco-style music playing in the background, a full bar, and televisions featuring sports programming. The crowd appeared to include a number of younger couples, which added to the overall vibrant feel. I ordered the Chicken Yuzu Shio Delight and customized it with spicy bean sprouts, fresh garlic, and chicken wontons (each an additional charge). The dish arrived hot--which I always appreciate--and was exactly what I was looking for: flavorful, well-balanced, and satisfying without being too heavy. My kids ordered from the children's menu and clearly enjoyed their meals--they liked it so much that they asked for more noodles. I ended up sharing some of mine and ultimately ordered an additional bowl. The staff was very accommodating throughout, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is family-friendly, even with a bar as a central feature (which we did not utilize). The host was welcoming, and the staff presented a cohesive, modern look with all-black attire. While the style is clearly part of the restaurant's trendy aesthetic, some aspects of the dress may be a matter of personal preference (too short in my opinion, I would not like my daughters wearing such short attire). Overall, this was a great experience. The food was satisfying without being overly heavy, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was engaging. I would certainly recommend Jinya Ramen Bar to anyone in the mood for quality ramen in a lively setting.

I was here twice over the last two months. The first time, I ordered off the regular menu. The second time, I did the AYCE dim sum/tapas. Obviously, ordering a la carte, you'll get larger portions. It was all fantastic. The server was attentive and friendly. Dishes came out lightning fast. And the food itself was stellar! I'll let the photos speak for themselves. You can't go wrong here, especially if you're getting one of the AYCE specials (there's a similar one at Mama Chang's). I want to note though, three of the dishes have the same flavor profile, just different main ingredients: spicy dry fish, spicy dry cauliflower, and dry fried spicy eggplant. They use dry fried red chili and ground Szechuan peppercorn. If you like this, great! Just know it's the same seasoning across these dishes. I didn't take photos of everything, but if it's braised pork xxxx, get it! I will gladly return to this location or Mama Chang's for another AYCE adventure.

We decided to check it out with some dear friends on a recent Sunday morning and found it among the better AYCE Chinese experiences in the area. We made reservations for our party of 6, which were warranted as the dining room grew increasingly packed during our brunch. Our waitress was friendly, consistently available, and very helpful throughout service. As with any bottomless small plates format, a couple items were forgotten or incorrectly delivered to our table, but we overall found the order accuracy and service here above par. The ambiance here feels more upscale than expected with an open, modern dining room possessing jade green and gold accents. We were able to sample a good cross section of the menu. Any of the "dry fried items" are worth ordering as they arrive shatteringly crisp with an addictive chili-peppercorn dry coating. We tried both the cauliflower and eggplant options and found both excellent. The Sichuan popcorn chicken had tasty, crispy nuggets of meat tossed in a tangy sweet sauce which, while not very spicy, made for a balanced, savory bite. The dumplings we sampled were all solid, including better than expected pork soup dumplings and surprisingly tasty pan fried vegetable dumplings. Some traditional entree dishes are available as small format plates, and we dug the Mongolian beef, spicy Hunan pork belly, and mapo tofu. While the scallion bubble pancake is a Peter Chang signature, none of us much cared for the greasy, dry orb relative to the classic, flaky version available elsewhere. I also found the wontons in chili oil lackluster for its pittance of sauce and gummy wrappers. While elegantly presented, the black sesame egg yolk bao tasted cloyingly sweet, which was very surprising for a Chinese dessert. Despite some misses, at $30ish bucks per person we all ate our fill of a variety of mostly good to great dishes, and failed to sample at least half of the remaining menu at that. The combination of solid eats, attentive service, and appealing ambiance are hard to beat in the area, and we thus look forward to returning to this location of Peter Chang.

The ginger-garlic rice doesn't have enough garlic flavor and was a little dry. Also, I didn't like the ratio of chicken to rice; there was only six pieces of chicken for all the rice that was given.
