Ummmmmmmm... it wasn't my favorite.... My mom enjoyed her quesadilla with a rate of 5/10. She said she preferred chipotles quesadilla . And I got sick from my burrito, it wasn't in my stomach that long if yk what I mean. I'm sorry to post this, just a bit disappointed. Definitely form your own opinion but that was just mine. Back today for a slightly delayed lunch (i.e., 1:30PM). There was a staff person named Victoria working. She was extremely efficient and took our order in a timely manner. After the lunch crowd had departed and we were the only customers, we spoke with her for a few minutes. It turned out that today was her first day working here! (She is from Argentina). We had not tried Taco Zocalo in Sterling due to the negative reviews on Yelp, but when the Reston California Tortilla closed, we started trying other nearby places. With low expectations going in, we were pleasantly surprised by Taco Zocalo. And, also surprised to see a former Cal Tort staff member behind the counter. This isn't a fancy place. It is a strip mall Taco store next to a 7-11. But, it was clean, the menu had all the usuals/standard, the prices were not outrageous and we thought the quality of our meals was good. I tried the quesadilla and my wife had a burrito bowl. Both were prepared to order in a reasonable amount of time, tasty and appropriate portions (similar to other area taco joints). We agreed it was better than we expected, and we would be back to try other menu options. Admittedly, we are not "taco connoisseurs," so I will defer to other reviews about "authenticity and tradition".... but for a chain taco place, we had no complaints. Looking for Mexican food led us to Taco Zocalo; we have lived in Reston over a year but never knew about this restaurant. The ambiance is small and plain, tables and chairs with plastic utensils. The food was what was so very good! First the chips and guacamole were fresh, not stale. I ordered the veggie burrito bowl, my spouse ordered 2 chicken tacos. Both were really good; the waitress even came over to ask if I wanted tomatoes and onions added to the order. The meal was delivered quickly to our table, but then no one bothered us to leave early. Next time we will place an order and bring it home as the dining area was small and crowded. Otherwise, a very good experience. read more

I was in Mexico a month ago and every time I was getting tacos over there, I kept thinking how in the heck is Taco Zocalo back home tasting better than most Mexican tacos?? I eventually found a great taco place in Mexico but Taco Zocalo still beats most of them. I cannot recommend this place enough. Every time I'm craving tacos, it's Taco Zocalo time for me. Taco Bamba, Bar Taco, nah nah. It's Taco Zocalo! Insert Drake meme here. The downside of tacos being so good here is that I don't know what else on their menu is good LOL Note that the one by Wiehle Ave is the OG place. There have been a few branches opened since they are doing so well. I've been getting tacos at the OG place for years now and it tastes the best in my opinion. The new branches are great too but the OG place always takes it up a notch consistently. The place is quite small so if you're planning to dine in, it may or may not have open tables. However, know that people usually pick up or get delivered most of the time. My go-to order is a three-taco combo with 1 steak and 2 fish. I switch between flour and corn tortillas from time to time. I like them both. Don't forget to get the chips and salsa. The salsa here is out of this world. Pair it all with tamarind soda! Honestly the food was really delicious. Husband loved his burrito . I loved my chimichanga & the birria tacos/ steak taco were good. Not amazing but good. Anyways what turned me off was the hair pieces we found in our food. Look like small straight black hairs like you'd find on a dog or so.. just ruined our appetite. I found multiple too. This place stays crowded lunchtime and after work hours because they have great deals on their delicious food. This place is kept very tidy. You can dine in or sit just outside. They even deliver individual meals or even deliver catering packages once ordered ahead of time. Business meeting meals they got u covered just be careful to notify them how many will be attending the meeting. Fortunately everyone will want a second round or two from this place. My daughter loves birria tacos - but not the easiest to find and can be pricey. They have birria tacos on Sundays, so we had to come - bonus, at very reasonable prices. I have loved this place since it opened but I have to be realistic here. Their expansion has been the downfall of their quality. The biggest complaint is the new corn tortillas they use. They just are not good. What used to be the best corn tortillas are now my least favorite. They used to yellow. They are now orange. They used to grill them which just made the taco experience the best, now they don't. And the corn tortillas are now soft and squishy and even fall apart when not grilled and when I asked to have the corn tortillas specially grilled they became very tough and chewy which ruins the whole experience. I am sad. I do not want gringo flour tortillas. Double sad. Triple sad is that the tacos are now smaller than they used to be. Boo! I go past this place every day so I decided it's time to give it a try. I get a feeling the land will be seized by the county for more overpriced condos so I thought the time is now. I had a few friends with me so it was a taco fest at out table. I ordered the barbacoa three taco combo with no tomatoes or guacamole. I also grabbed a Victoria beer in a bottle from the cooler. The order came out pretty fast. The tacos didn't have much in terms of meat or toppings. The shells looked about half empty. I understand shortages but seriously for $4 per taco more meat/ toppings could have been put in the shell. No price for the bottles of beer and I guess the $6 a bottle would scare some folks off. I hereby declare thee, Taco Zocalo, a magnificent and deletable location for lunch gatherings. Why you may ask? While the establishment may be humble in its appearance, the food options here are superb. Upon my arrival, I pondered over the menu for at least 3 minutes. Shall I get tacos? Perhaps a burrito? And then... there it was... a chimichanga. While the others employed by the same company as I decide to get tacos, I defy the norm, stand out among the peasants, and order a chimichanga. Ordered to-go, I anxiously await to try this delightful dish the whole car ride back to the office. The elevator could not move fast enough. My stomach was rumbling in anticipation. Once I am seated, I open my to-go container and there it is in all its glory. A beautifully fried (but not oily) chimichanga. The heavens parted and a single beam of light shone upon it - perfectly constructed. The knife glides through the slight crunch of the fried tortilla and inside are divine layers of pulled beef and cheese. Sensational seasonings and a healthy portion of meat - I was nothing but satisfied with my choice. Nachos: Picture this. It's my wedding day. I am about to walk down the aisle and join my fiancé at the altar, as we begin our new life together. He repeats "I object", and it echoes across the room, across my heart, and shatters the reality of the present moment. I have been to Taco Zocalo many times and typically get the three tacos (2 beef barbacoa and 1 chicken tinga) on soft corn tortillas (each taco has two layers of tortillas). The tacos are always packed full of toppings and the meat is well cooked. Other food options like their bowls and elotes are both taste great. Ok I had to see what all the fuss was about. Came by for lunch take-out since I was in the area. Got two 3-taco meals to go: all steak for my husband, and 1 each fish/steak/chicken tinga for me. (It was Tuesday and I wanted to try the Birria special but they only let you order in 2s/3s, so I couldn't just get one to try! Bummer!). Verdict: skip the steak. It was gray and flavorless, cooked to total death. I took a bite and fed the rest to my dog, I'm not even kidding. It was gross. The chicken tinga was ok, but again really overcooked to the point that I didn't even know I was eating chicken. The fish was very good, though. That one I would get again. Chips were pretty good, salsa is super chunky like a pico de gallo type. Also a B+. Service was very fast. No one in line ahead of me at 12 noon on a weekday, and I didn't wait long for my order. That was a plus. I'd like to come back and try the Birria since a) I've never had it before; and b) Yelpers seem to rave about it. I'd also try maybe a burrito bowl or a Chimichanga, just so I could have a few things to compare. But for this visit, it was a bit of a swing and a miss for me. read more

Today I ordered carry out and they forgot to include the meat for our salads (packaged separately for to go orders) I called the restaurant and they immediately brought us or missing food plus dessert.
