I had a deeply disappointing experience here, and it's hard to find much worth recommending. The food was genuinely awful--poorly prepared, lacking flavor, and in some cases barely edible. For the prices they're charging, you'd expect at least a baseline level of quality, but this fell far below that. Service didn't help matters. It felt disorganized and inattentive, and the practice of taking credit cards and holding them at the bar was uncomfortable and unnecessary. Unique Mexican-Indian fusion menu. The butter chicken enchiladas drew me in and they were delicious. Service was quick and friendly. On the Friday night I was there, there was a roving bongo musician and Indian music playing. The only complaint I had was that the music was so loud that it was difficult to talk. Our favorite place closed so we are trying new Mexican restaurants as a replacement. I would pass on this place. 4 of us each ordered different flavored and kinds of margaritas, all 4 were terrible. I ordered a standard frozen, tasteless, tasted like Tequila slushed ice. When waitress asked how it was I told her so she made me an other, second was worse. I like the fish tacos and the daiquiri (raspberry) was good. I had a fried shrimp appetizer. I love the salsa , guacamole and chips, right up there with guappos ( IYKYK) Wonderful staff. Next time I'll try the made table side guacamole. read more

I didn't take any pictures but I came for lunch and the waitress was nice, the place was absolutely dead, literally just my table. I should have taken that as a sign because a dead restaurant for lunch is no good... anyway I found out why shortly after the food came out. It's "Tex mex" but they really should call it what it really is ... bland & tex mex Indian because the only thing Mexican about it is the name of the dish. Horrible I didn't even ask for a to go box, nor did they offer one because I'm sure they know it's not good. Really nice looking place though, they put a lot of effort into appearances. I loved the tableside guac, but the rest of the food was just alright. Came here with a work group and we made reservations. No one else was at the restaurant when we all showed up. I don't think the kitchen was prepared for our party because some people got their food way before everyone else. Some of my coworkers already finished and boxed their food before my table got our food. It took about an hour for us to get our main entree. I ended up boxing mine up after one bite because I had to go back to work. Our lunch outing ended up being two hours long total when it should have been one. If the food tasted amazing, I wouldn't have rated as low, but because it wasn't that good, I give it 2. read more

This place is a total vibe!! Today, NuAxis Innovations held our quarterly all-hands meeting at Uncle Jalapeño in Herndon, VA, and the experience was absolutely fantastic. The staff was awesome one of the owners personally made sure our audio-visual setup worked perfectly so we could connect with our team members in Denver, CO and New Orleans, LA. The seating arrangements were spot-on, and our staff loved being able to get together in such a comfortable, welcoming space. The food? Amazing! The service? Just as great! This location was perfect for our event, and I'm already planning to have more functions here. Visited Uncle Jalapeno for lunch on Tuesday. The decor, especially the booths reminded me of El Paso although the art and lights have their own flare. My friend & I both selected from the $15 lunch menu which includes some soup and several main item options. My friend went with tacos & I selected enchiladas with an slight Indian flavor twist (think Tequila Granda before it moved and become Mama Tigre). They also have margaritas on the lunch menu but we had to go back to work . Because my friend had a meeting coming up we both consumed our soup (tortilla -- tasty) but got the rest to go. Although it definitely caused some confusion we felt they were accommodating of our request. We both enjoyed our meals later in the afternoon. Oh, almost forgot one of the most important things -- their chips are good as is the salsa, assuming you don't mind a nice kick. Not sure if the chips are made on site but I am pretty confident it wasn't part of a mass cheap chips purchase. Also of note it looks like happy hour runs from 3-7PM, something I expect I will enjoy in the near future. Worth a visit. read more

Went for a team lunch on a Friday, the place has a Vibrant look and feel, the owners have taken good care of the ambiance. This is a Tex-Mex-Indian fusion cuisine, and it was on point. The service was attentive and helpful, glad to see that the staff is aware of what to suggest and have a good idea of the menu. Huge space for bar, and I see some good cocktails on the menu The Food was great, we tried tacos, enchiladas, burritos and salads. The tandoori chicken tacos and the paneer burritos offer an Indian flavor, the flavor was mild and anyone can have it without worrying about too much spice. This place was great! We're in from out of town and this was the perfect spot for lunch. The lights were super cool, they had glass birds fashioned into them. The rest of the decor was beautiful too, fun tiling and wall decorations. Immediately when we sat down we had warm chips and delicious salsa, as well as waters. The service was great throughout our lunch, and ultimately culminated with a free dessert in anticipation of Father's Day. The food came out quickly and was delicious. I came over in the middle of the day after finishing at PT. I met a friend and wasn't surprised that no one else was eating at 2:30 in the afternoon. This restaurant seemed very large. I had been to the previous restaurant in this location a long time ago, and at that time, it seemed much smaller. This restaurant is large, bright, and airy, and it probably gets very crowded at a typical lunch hour with all the businesses in the area. We sat down and had the menus in front of us for maybe 2 minutes when he came to take our order. He came back twice more and I figured I better order quickly before he came back again. I ordered the lunch steak fajitas. My friend ordered the steak burrito and a lunch margarita. Shortly after ordering, a cup of chicken noodle soup with cheese came to our table and was a starter for the lunch entree. A few minutes after finishing our soup, the main meals came, and they were huge for a lunch special. Neither my friend nor I finished, and we took boxes. Oh, the chips and salsa were good. The salsa had a little kick but was good and not too spicy. All in all, the prices of a $15 lunch special and a $5 lunch margarita were reasonable. I will come back in the future. I'm curious how they do at dinner time. Glancing through their menu, I saw some dishes I would love to try. I would recommend giving this place a try. The food here is horrible! I wasn't expecting authentic Mexican food but this wasn't even close to resembling Mexican food, not even a Fusion. I really hate wasting food but I found it inedible. Drinks House Margarita - Good Tamarind Margarita with Chat Masala - Not a fan but our friends loved it. Tip- Ask for their spicy dip Appetizers Jalapeno Masala Dip- Must try! Jalapeno Popper (chicken)- Delicious Ceviche - Table loved it! Cauliflower Bites- Okay too sweet. Dinner: Paneer Tika Taco - I loved it. Beef Enchiladas - Friend loved it. Chef's Special Chicken Tikka - Friend loved it. Dessert: Tres Leches - MUST try! Portions are HUGE just like any other Mexican place. Ambiance is beautiful! It can accommodate a large party. Service - Everyone tried their best to be prepared for the dining hours. Our waiter Steven was incredible. Managers Sanjeev & Parul went above and beyond to ensure everyone was taken care of. I suppose I should have done my due diligence before trying this place. When we got there we found out it's Indian fused with Mexican. Wouldn't know that from the name. That's not horrible in and of itself, but the food was close to being that. The chicken tacos were dry pieces of charcoal chicken with zero toppings or condiments on it. No sour cream, no pico, no cheese, no sauce. Nothing except dry cubed chicken and cilantro sprinkled on top. I am giving extra stars for the friendly service and nice decor. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Their Taco Tuesday tacos were pathetic. Tasteless and bland. Their chips were weird tasting and fried in cheap smelly (or old) oil, and served cold (stale). Their entrees were ridiculous and they didn't have half the items on the dessert menu. Plus I was charged more than should have only to realize later despite paying a 20% tip. They gave me a cash refund (after defending their over charge) for what they wrongly over charged me for but I'd already paid taxes and tips on that total about so ended up paying more that I should have anyways. While the Mexican, and Tex/mex space can be saturated, this new Herndon location for "crazy Tex mucho mex" hit the spot for our recent lunch date with husband. Food was fabulous. We came in time for the tail end of lunch and was pleasantly surprised by a wonderful soup included in my meal along with only a $5 lunch margarita added to my meal. () I order the power bowl chicken burrito and it was on point. Full of flavorful chicken, tasty rice and beans, well seasoned and cooked peppers and onions and plenty to go around for even just a lunch portion. Service was attentive and friendly even for an off time. Servers were questioning what we ordered but reclarified to ensure they had it right. And they did!! Beers came out timely, margaritas were made well, soups came out and cleared timely and food was served nice and hot. Atmosphere and vibe.. awesome!!! ON POINT!! loved it and can't rave enough. The space was vibrant and colorful. Upbeat music, bright green chair cushions, great decor and up beat and bright lightening for an overall and great experience and appeal. I ordered take out and overall I'd give it 3.5 stars. It's wasn't bad, but it also wasn't very good either. I had the paneer tikka enchiladas and they were fine. I liked the idea of it and have had Indian/Mexican fusion before so it's hard for me to not compare to mama Tigre which is just soooo much better. I've been here multiple times before and have always enjoyed the food but we have had so many issues with them charging for things that they said were free and also this time with the food item I ordered being "changed". Last time we came they charged us for a refill on the chips and salsa, so this time I let my friend know that it would be a charge if we wanted more...but the waiter came by and offered to bring a refill so I confirmed that there would be a charge like last time and he said there wouldn't be a charge and that they don't charge for refills.....so there's that.... I ordered the Fish taco platter, and when it came out it looked totally different and plain. I mentioned it to the waiter right away, and he says no this is how it is now. Ive ordered it twice before and that is NOT how it is. It is also described on the menu the way I had it before. So he got the menu and I showed him. Then the manager came over and said this is how it is now....well then it needs to be changed on the menu and I should have been told about this change! So they went to the back and came out with some chopped vegetables. I say ALL of this to say that I was so disappointed with the service here and it's not been just once. I will not be back. Charged us $17.50 for a single HOUSE tequila soda. When we asked about the price, the bartender told us it was the charge for the house tequila and "putting together the drink". I have never paid more than nine dollars for a house, liquor with soda water, and I will never be returning back here because these prices are actually Highway robbery. Visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday. The ambiance is beautiful, the staff is friendly friendly, laid back and polite. I was very excited about the menu as they have more variety than other Indian/Mexican fusion spots. I had the paneer tikka tacos. I got the platter so it comes with three tacos, beans and rice. I did not get them with cilantro or onions, I hate both. So literally it was just paneer, but no extra sauce. Pretty dry. And the rice was just a basmati rice, pretty plain. The beans were good! The chicken was tandoori style and cooked really well, it was definitely an interesting blend of Indian and Mexican flavors. HANDS' DOWN, THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES. We were really looking forward to trying this place, but it was beyond disappointing. After putting in our drink and appetizer order, it was apparent that a huge group (75 to 100) cricket enthusiasts -- all seated in the bar area -- had gathered to cheer on one of the teams in the Olympics. It also appeared that it was some sort of social media event, as a female ringleader was broadcasting messages on her phone. As a result, the noise levels at the place were unbelievable. My family and I could not carry on a conversation, period. It was so off the charts loud that we all left the place feeling traumatized. I am not exaggerating. Indeed minutes after leaving the place, our ears are still ringing. Generally speaking, when you go out to a restaurant to enjoy a meal with your family, you don't want to leave with PTSD. Meanwhile, the wait staff seemed completely oblivious to our distress. And at certain points, it seemed like they enjoyed it. One of them laughed, and another one came up to our table and asked if we were "intimidated." WTH?!? To be clear, we have no objection to people gathering, having fun, and cheering for their sports teams. But the restaurant should have been closed to other business or at least had a sign on the front notifying people that noise levels would preclude having a conversation. Where the food is concerned, it was average at best. My young daughter ordered a Caesar salad and got back something that looked like a soggy mess. This place bills itself as a Tex-Mex place, but they have no ground beef or crispy tacos. Also, the drink selection was extremely slim. No iced tea (despite advertising it on the menu), no sweet tea, and extremely limited soft drinks. It was almost comical how much they didn't have that was featured on the menu. And no cheese queso. To top it all off, my young son had to go to the bathroom and when he came back he reported that the restrooms reeked of smoke. At the end of our experience, a joyous manager came by the table to check in and tacitly knowledge the extreme noise levels by telling us that they would take better care of us next time. I told him to rest assured; there would be no next time. We will never go to this place again and we recommend others do the same. read more
