A girlfriend and I went to Guapo's for dinner and drinks (failed to take pictures of the food). The drinks were delicious, as was the food. The staff was attentive and on top of things. So attentive that they flip tables so quickly and tried to take our plates when there was still food. Granted, we slowed down and started talking... and catching up with each other... but toward the end of our meal, we felt rather rushed.

Absolutely delicious food. I love the warm tortilla chips and salsa they serve. This is such a fun and festive place. They always get it right. I have never had a bad experience at any of the Guapos on the area. I came here recently on a Friday evening and they were packed! I had the Cuban style Ropa Veja with fried plantain, black beans, rice, and sliced avocado. It was amazing. My friend had the beef steak salad and an order of fresh guacamole. Staff works as a team. So one person will fill glasses with water, and it could be another that brings the chips and salsa, and the waiter takes the order, and others bring the food, refill water and refill chips and salsa, and someone else to clear the food. All fast and efficient. Almost too fast because everyone is rushing. They are busy! It took quite some time to pay the bill. We had to ask to pay 4 times. We enjoyed ourselves. I will certainly go back. The food is great and so are the cocktails.

This chimichanga plate hit the spot - I got the chicken and cheese chimichanga. Every table comes with chips and salsa, so the chips were great with the guac, sour cream, and extra tomatoes on the side. Ambiance was nice, very lovely with all the birthday groups and singing!

ANGELLLL. Guapo's Mexican Restaurant absolutely delivered one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Let's start with our server, Angel -- and can I just say, wow. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely professional. What blew us away was finding out at the end of the meal that it was his first day. You would've never guessed. Every time I took a sip of water, he was right there with a refill like clockwork. He checked in just the right amount -- enough to make sure we had everything we needed, but never intrusive. Angel made the experience feel warm and effortless, and he honestly set the tone for the whole meal. The restaurant itself was spotless -- very clean with a cozy, fall-like decor that made the space feel inviting and comfortable. The ambiance was just right: not too loud, not too quiet, with a nice atmosphere for conversation. Service overall? A 10 out of 5. Perfect. The food -- oh my gosh -- the food. We ordered the chicken fajitas, and they came out sizzling and bubbling in this cute little ramekin, looking and smelling incredible. The flavor was next-level -- fresh, perfectly seasoned, and full of that authentic richness that makes great Mexican food unforgettable. Presentation was beautiful, and the quality was easily the best I've had in a long time (maybe ever). It is a little on the pricier side, but the portion size and quality totally justify it -- we were able to share and still leave full and happy. Plus, the food came out fast -- less than 15 minutes after we ordered. Overall, Guapo's nailed it on every level: service, speed, food, and atmosphere. This one easily earns a full five stars from me -- 9.7/10. Fantastic all around.

I came here for brunch, driving across Fairfax. I was astonished at the decor and size of this location. The servers were helpful, and recommended the chicken chimichanga and I was able to get it with melted queso. The sour crème, guacamole, rice and beans were fresh and flavored well. The chimichanga itself was crispy and the cheese was melted to perfection. I really liked the filling, the chicken was cooked and flavored well. Lastly, I enjoyed the complementary chips that were restaurant style, thin crispy and lightly oiled, and paired with two memorable salsas: a smokey roasted tomato and fresh pico de gillo. The location offers indoor and outdoor seating. With the open concept, I was able to sit indoors while still feeling the natural sunlight and breeze. The location has a very big dining hall in the center, perfect for a large family or friends gathering or even parties. I liked how the chandeliers and walls had Fall themed leaves and decor. Really made a lasting impression on me. I'd recommend anyone who is in the area to drop by!

I came here for brunch with some friends and the food and service was great! I got the steak and chicken fajita and the steak was surprisingly more tender than I expected. The chicken was a bit dry but honestly didn't even get to eat it because the portion was so bug after I got through the steak I was stuffed. The servers were all very friendly and were always available when needed!

This was our first time here with my family of ten with a Saturday night dinner reservation. We arrived in two vehicles. We parked in the mall parking lot. We arrived on time, but the place was packed with customers in line to get taken care of. We had to wait about 15 minutes for them to prepare our table for ten. This is clearly a happening place. I started with and enjoyed my two grande jalapeno margaritas with tajin rim for $25.95 each or $51.90 total. We shared and enjoyed the chile con queso cheese dip served with large corn tortilla chips for $10.95. I enjoyed my three tacos de birria braised beef in guajillo, Monterey Jack cheese, cilantro, onions and consomme for $20.95. It is served with Mexican rice and refried beans. I could only eat two of my tacos, the Mexican rice and refried beans. The staff here were very good in serving our large group. During our dinner they recognized and celebrated several customers on their birthday by wearing a sombrero. My total bill was $557 including an added 20% large group gratuity. We all agreed we will return here again for another large family dinner.

I love Guapo's, specifically Fairlakes location. Food and service are always great. Today's experience was especially good! Came in a party of 25 (20 adults and 5 kids/ babies) around 1 on a Sunday. They don't take reservations on weekends, but they do accept call ahead. Our table was ready on arrival. They prepared our table for 20 but adjusted when more people joined last minute (thank you). Having a ginormous party can be a nightmare for both restaurant and customer, but we had a great time. Our server, Angel/ Angelito, greeted us as soon as we were sat and took our order when we were ready. Food came out within 10-15 minutes. Everything was accurate and yum. Chips/ salsas, waters, tortillas- everything was refilled promptly. He was attentive and enthusiastic about any and all requests. I usually get the chicken fajitas- always good. I tried my friend's beef/ steak fajitas and thought it was a little salty. I also split the nachos with ground beef (picadillo)-- it was good but I thought there was too much cheese (prob unpopular opinion). Ambiance is fun, chaotic, and loud. Interior is Spanish hacienda decor. It was 100' outside and inside was kinda warm too. Guapo's celebrates your special occasions-- if you let them know it's your birthday, they will pop a sombrero on your head and do a big song and dance. So fun. After back to back negative experiences at Uncle Julio's, this was a breath of fresh air. Love you, Guapo's!

Guapo's has the same feeling as the Tex-Mex spots I grew up with, so it's very nostalgic for me. We went on a Friday at 6:30 and there was a 20 minute wait, so be prepared for them to be busy. I got the jalapeño margarita, it had a nice spice without being too spicy. For food, I got the birria tacos. The meal came with three nicely sized tacos with a side of rice and beans. The birria was moist and the tacos were crunchy. They were delicious, I would get them again. The service can be slow, we had to ask for the check a couple of times.

Really pretty restaurant with an arts-and-crafts style interior and a Spanish-style entrance that makes it feel special right from the start. I tried the chicken enchilada and it was really good, plus we got the nacho platter. My only wish is that they put the sour cream and toppings directly on the nachos instead of serving them on a little plate on top--it would've made the whole dish more fun. Overall though, the food wasn't overly salty like it sometimes can be, and everything was yummy.

Ragz and I stopped by for dinner today. Surprisingly we haven't tried this location even though we live pretty close by. The place is huge, pretty clean and massively high ceilings. Our service was pretty quick and our server Kevin did a great job. The maracas and the birthday routine does get very old very quick when it happens 5 times in a span of 30 minutes, but I can see how people love it. We started with the chips and salsa ( obviously). I loved the chips, salsa was okay - if it hadn't been so watery, I would have absolutely loved it because the taste was great. Ragz had the chicken tortilla soup - pretty massive portion and that was his dinner. He really liked it. I got the chicken fajitas and asked to add veggies to it for an up charge. This was okay - pretty standard fajitas. But my chicken was def a little overcooked. Also, the tortillas that came with the dish felt a tad bit too thick for my liking. Also, the Mexican rice could have been so so much better tasting + I didn't like the half cooked peas in it. We also shared the traditional ceviche ( they do have a pretty big list of ceviche options), and it was decent. I'm also wary of ceviche at a restaurant that's not on a coastline, but they did okay. Out to-go trea leches tasted pretty decent when we got home - maybe a tad bit too sweet for me. Spent $100 or so plus tip for our food, which honestly felt like a lot. Will I be back? Sure - if we got bored of all all other restaurants around, lol!

Went in for dinner on a Tuesday night. Got seated immediately but the restaurant got packed fairly quickly. A lot of birthdays! Staff was clean. The water fountain in the middle adds a fun decor to the ambiance. Drinks were good but they are pricy. 12 oz jalapeño marg was $12 and a 24 oz is about $25. Steak fajitas was really good. The dessert trio was delicious! I highly recommend it. However, towards the end of the night the staff was more busy and it did take time to get our dessert and check. Other than that, a nice experience overall.

I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. My wife indicated that it's on the menu so the server lost instant credibility by saying they didn't have it, and didn't bother to say he would go check. The server brought chips and salsa which we thought were ok. The chips were really thin and the salsa was runny to the point I got it all over the table. Despite asking the server for napkins, he didn't bring any after 10 mins of waiting. I ended up going to the kitchen and asking if I could have napkins and brought them back to the table myself. Totally ridiculous that a customer has to serve themself. Restaurant cleanliness appeared to be problematic with napkins and debris on the floor, and tables that took 30 mins to get cleaned after patrons left. My wife had fajitas and thought they were good. I had a burrito that had a very thick tortilla to the point I felt like I was eating bread. Some of the steak in the burrito was medium-rare despite not being asked for my preference of how I wanted it cooked. You would think that would be well done in this instance. Needless to say, my wife said we're not returning and I'm not going to fight her over it. I don't recall our first experience being this way but the service and food have definitely changed for the worst.

We had no reservation, but had no wait and we were seated immediately. Service like that really makes a difference and definitely makes us want to return. We both ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and they were so good. The meat was flavorful and the accompanying broth was amazing. In fact, we ordered a couple of more birria tacos to bring home for later. We also ordered a shrimp burrito which has rice, black or pinto beans, pico de gallo, cilantro, lettuce, cheese, cilantro aioli sauce and red cabbage. The shrimp is fried, not grilled, but the breading is not overwhelming and pairs nicely with the red cabbage and sauces. As other people have mentioned, the burritos are huge and the ingredients are fresh and plentiful. We enjoyed the chips and queso with the chips being fresh and flavorful. The ambience is lively without feeling cramped, which makes it an easy place to settle in after work. Happy Hour: Their happy hour is definitely the main draw. The large margaritas are priced extremely well, and when the mix is right, they're excellent. The only downside is consistency -- sometimes the drinks have a good balance of alcohol, and other times they taste more like lemonade and feel watered down. The appetizer prices are also great. We ordered the fried wings and Mexican rice; both were okay and edible, but not particularly memorable compared to other spots. Service: Service was generally good, but with only one bartender covering the entire bar, there were stretches where he disappeared or was tied up. The happy hour prices are hard to beat, and when the drinks hit right, it's worth the visit.
