I can't say this enough -- this Guapo's location has been better than any other I've been to! The whole place feels so lively and modern, with an upbeat, uplifting vibe that immediately sets the tone for a great night. The service was amazing -- super attentive, everything came out right on time, and the staff made us feel welcome from start to finish. You just know you're in for good food when it's Guapo's. We ordered a bunch of different items and everything was delicious. I had the chicken quesadilla (so good!) and the flan for dessert -- yum. I also tried a passion fruit margarita, and it did not disappoint. I wouldn't say it's the absolute best Mexican food I've ever had, but with the vibe, service, and solid food and drinks, this location definitely stands out. I'll be back!

From going to Shirlington back in the day, to Fair Lakes, it's great to see they're still thriving and delivering. This place is super- came last Friday at a busy time with reservations, no delay getting seated. Chips came promptly and so did a refill. Had the large margarita- tasted great (not too strong/not too weak). Service was welcoming and positive, attentive to refills. We had chimichangas, tacos, and all the entrees were great, even the leftovers we had to take home. The dessert was sopapillas and cajeta ice cream, but I did not care for the cajeta. Clean bathrooms. Please don't compare them to Uncle whoever, they're much better. Overall it was a fun vibe, good music, pleasant staff and great food- we would definitely return!

Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Guapo's in Merrifield. Got there about 5:30 on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately. Our server, Angel, came over, introduced himself. We had our drink orders shortly afterwards. Everything and everyone were great. Drinks, appetizers and entrees were delicious. Ambiance was nice. I loved the vibrant colors throughout the restaurant.

Stopped by for early dinner Saturday and although they were busy we were seated immediately. We are outside and it was shaded (there were baby birds walking around the patio and minimal bugs but nothing disturbing). The restaurant is huge and the bathrooms were clean. Our server Karen was very nice and patient cause it took me a while to figure out my order. All of the food was flavorful and the complimentary chips were hot. The calamari was great as were both sauces (the rings itself were just a little larger than I'm used to). My fiancé enjoyed his steak and I lovedddd my chimichanga (also was able to do half chicken and shrimp). The mango margarita was delicious and I liked the actual mango pieces that were in the glass (the standard size was $11, slightly more than I'm used to at home). Overall great experience and would dine here again !

Although this visit was one I was super frantic about, I still have nothing bad to say about their food. We got the happy hour sliders and chicharrón ceviche. I had put my $600 retainers inside a napkin, which was rock hard under a napkin and the barback threw it away. Luckily the man management team and their staff felt bad so they looked through every trash for me. It was bindbinded very well. Thank you to my SP for looking hard as well. Anywho the sliders are cooked perfectly, not over done and still juicy. Most of the time sliders can be extremely dry considering how small in size they are, it's nice that the sliders come with fries too. The chicharrón cevche is very yummy, sometimes when over cooked can be too hard to chew. It came topped with a mango and onion salsa as well as thinly sliced fried yuca which I loved! The salso verde was just the perfect amount of tang, wanted it to be spicier, but it worked! All in all guapos will always have a place in my heart!

    Hair on my rice

I ordered the Mariscado here earlier tonight for pick up. Really good seafood soup. However, when I opened the rice it came with, there was hair on it. Immediately ruined my appetite smh. Disgusting.

I sat outside on the porch and it was a festive environment. The service was quick and friendly. Chips came with two different sauces, cold pico de gallo and warm roasted tomatillo. I really liked the grilled octopus. The fish and shrimp in the ceviche were good quality. However, every dish had the same garnish with lots of jicama and tons of red onions - just different sauces and proteins. For me, the red onion flavor overpowered all other flavors. I did not order anything else for my self. For my husband and son, I bought burritos to go, and the portions were very small relative to the price.

I came to Guapo's three times in one week because it was that good. The food, drinks, and overall vibe had me hooked from the first visit. We tried the tacos and margaritas during happy hour and everything was fantastic. The al pastor tacos were phenomenal and juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The elote and Botana Mexicana are happy hour specials that I seriously wish were on the menu all the time. The lunch special burrito bowls were a solid 10 out of 10. The meat was tender with a perfect char that gave it an amazing smoky flavor. I also tried the cauliflower and was shocked at how well seasoned it was, it honestly tasted like chicken or shrimp. I would absolutely order it again. The drinks were strong and delicious, and the service was friendly and quick. The ambiance and music added to the experience, making each visit feel like a mini getaway. I love it here and definitely prefer this location over the one in Shirlington. Can't wait to come back again!

Margaritas the size of my head, couldn't even finish mine and was feeling good. Dang to my friend for her birthday. Birria tacos that were 5 Star. Incredibly nice staff. Great experience.

What a find!!! I have to mention the amount of flavors bursting forth before anything else. 1st bite- we were sold. Never said this B4 in a review - these tacos could not have been any better, in any way, than they were here. Juicy and tender, we tried 5 types, the beef birria, goat birria, chicken tinga, chicken+chorizo, and beef tinga. All equally great. Then Sopas chicken tinga, beer birria So fabulous too. Loved every single bite. Small place, very casual with several inside tables, more outside. Sat down for some, carryout for more. Carryout was well packaged- self serve some of the 3 sauces to go to try. Green is avocado/tomatillo mix, red is hotter/sharper, orange (kickin/creamy) good. Decent sized menu but not trying to do everything- smart move. Because everything they do they do extremely well. Before we even left, I said "If we lived here , I'd be coming here almost every week". It's that good. We're both retired chefs and cook at home constantly, but this was something special. Do Not Miss.

This is a very nice little shop for some great tacos…read more Food - The birria is definitely the best taco here, the beef consommé for dipping is just great. The lengua and carne asada are good too. Only problem is they are not consistent. One day it is amazing and the next it tastes off. The best quality about any restaurant is in the consistency more so than one off good day. So, I can't vouch for it. You may get a good one or may not!

A gutsy move and worth a visit…read more I always wondered why someone would open a taco restaurant so close to a Taco Bamba. Today I decided to go see for myself. There were several things that set this place apart, and mostly in a good way. The space is clean and open. There's plenty of comfortable seating... on comfortable seats... at actual tables. The staff is friendly and helpful. The setup is use a tablet to enter your order and get one of those round, vibrating pagers so you know when to go pick up your order. To my surprise, a few seconds after I sat down one of the staff brough my plastic soda glass so I could get my beverage while I waited for my food. And a few seconds after I got back to my table with my Dr. Pepper ("No Coke, Pepsi") someone dropped off my food. Now, to the food. I ordered two tacos, a Carne Asada and an Al Pastor, along with an ear of street corn. Of that, my favorite was the street corn, followed by the Al Pastor taco. I was unpleasantly surprised by the Carne Asada taco because it was soaked in grease. They also have a nice assortment of daily specials and happy hour bargains. Such specials and happiness includes leveraging their full bar. I will be coming back, probably for their happy hour and will make a point of not getting a Carne Asada Taco.
