Crispy chips taste very homemade and yummy!

It had been waaaay too long since we visited this wonderful family-owned/run treasure. Saturday night we popped in for dinner and everything -- EVERYTHING! -- was spectacular. We had chicken and beef dishes at the table , and the meats were "like butter" - tender, marinated and spiced to perfection. The service is always warm and welcoming! And I call their refried beans simply magical! We asked our waiter why they are so insanely good -- his response? "Time." And that is the key! The kitchen takes time preparing every ingredient properly, and you can taste it in every bite. Patronize local businesses folks! This one is a winner! (Parking is limited in their small lot, but (free) spots in the surrounding neighborhood are pretty easy to score.)

Was splendid. The most amazing Mexican food I've had in a while. This mango margarita was the bomb!!! Eat here it will change your life :)

Service was rapid and perfectly executed. Mango margarita bomb! Food was absolutely amazing!!!! The ambiance was incredible very authentic and put me in mood to buss down some food.

Love to support fellow hispanic restaurants and this was definitely a good one to try out! It is definitely a more family friendly cozy atmosphere! the food is priced average, and the menu composed of classic salvadoran dishes! The food was so good and the steak was just to my liking!!! They don't have a bar menu available at the table, you have to ask for drinks and they'll tell you what you can order! the service was excellent very friendly staff!!

Really tasty local place. We ordered the burrito and tacos along with a tamale app. The corn tamale was really good. For the burrito it was huge and pretty good. Would definitely recommend. My husband enjoyed his tacos as well

La Union is a true gem right off Wilson Boulevard a little bit outside Ballston toward Falls Church. Fast service, always delicious food, great portions, and lots of dishes to choose from. The menu is Mexican-Salvadoran and includes things like pupusas, tamales, and various combo platters. I usually go for El Tipico, which is a rib eye steak with sweet plantains, refried beans, rice, pico de gallo, avocado, and queso fresco. I've eaten here many times and will keep coming back. I usually call the restaurant directly to order takeout. During the pandemic they require masks (of course!). The location has a small parking lot in the front, or there is street parking in the area. Go to the back of the restaurant to grab your takeout food, or call and ask them to bring it out. I prefer ordering directly, but they are also on major food delivery services.

Had driven by La Union many times before going up and down Wilson and this was the first time we pulled the trigger and decided to get take out and was definitely not disappointed The pupusas were really delicious. The texture was tender and the flavor really came through, there was also a side of tomato salsa that complimented them perfectly. We dabbed a bit of hot sauce on em for a kick which just brought it up to another level. Im sure they have hot sauce in the restaurant as well. For entrees we got 2 different versions of steak (El Tipico and Bistec Ranchero). Both were cooked well to the temperature we ordered and kept well despite a 15 min drive home. The sides were also good accompaniments. We had a tres leches to finish. I've never been a dessert person but my wife is and she REALLY enjoyed dessert. Only small knock is the prices are a bit higher than what I was expecting. Could be a recent change cause of inflation, but regardless we'll definitely be back to try out other things on the menu and if this quality and flavor persists through all their items, then they'll have earned an updated 5 star review and a couple regulars.

There are some parking spots right in front, although not many. There is a decent amount of seating, but it would be tight if you had a large party. My partner did note that the bathrooms weren't that great. You immediately get served complementary chips and salsa. They were pretty basic, but not bad. We ordered the following: + Papusas (Pork and Cheese & Loroco and Cheese) - Decent, although I prefer the Loroco (an edible flower bud). + Pollo à la Primavera (chicken dish) - Yummy, especially the sauce which mixes well with their hot/spicy sauce too! I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. It did take a while for the staff to swing by so that we could get boxes and the check. Note that credit cards and mobile pay are accepted. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again to try more items on their menu.

It was still good because it almost tasted like a tortilla filled with pink pasta sauce but I knew it wasn't the real deal. The bean and cheese one was good. For 2 pupusas it was a little under $5 and came with the pickled cabbage and tomato sauce. Two was filling but I maybe could have gone for 3. The staff was very kind. This place is located in a convenience store, so when you're approaching the address, it's not very obvious that this place is located inside due to the lack of signage. This place has limited hours and I believe they open early for breakfast and close at 4:00 p.m. I originally wanted to call in my order, but didn't see a decent menu online and/or prices, so I made my way there. I got there maybe about 20 minutes before they closed as I saw the chairs up on top of the tables in their seating area. I immediately just ordered the carne asada tacos, the pork pupusas and the cheese pupusa. I took it to go, brought it inside my car and because I didn't eat lunch and it was almost dinner time, I literally picked up the cheese pupusa and ate it in my car. It was piping hot and delicious. I didn't even put the little salad / hot sauce on top as I was really hungry. Overall it was really good. Of course, I moved on to the taco and thought it was kinda small, but thought to myself I should have ordered one more. I think it was comparable to the price that I paid, but for someone that was hungry I knew that maybe four wouldn't not be enough but thankfully the pupusas filled me up. I didn't finish my food completely as I drove home because I wanted to really sit down and try the food. My overall feedback on the tacos is to probably ask them to make my tacos medium rare if at all possible. Secondly, I would probably order at least five and maybe four pupusas. I think that would satisfy my craving and I would be full. I love supporting small businesses so if you are in the area, please stop by and try out this place.

On top of that, I ordered a steak taco, which unfortunately didn't make it into a picture either because I ate it too fast. What stood out to me was the "shell."
