    Pollo el crema
    Stephanie S.

An average rendition of some of our favorite things we've had at other spots in Portland. Pollo crema was a good portion size, pretty good flavor and the carne asada chimichanga was just average. The chips were fresh and salsa was very mild. The guacamole was fresh just needed a little salt. They do have margaritas to go. We are just visiting so we would probably never order from here again but it is one of our local families favorite spots.

This is as close to Mexican from Mexico I could find. Not TexMex. Have the enchiladas and Chile releno.

I was delighted to find they have Pacifico on tap. I ordered two soft chicken tacos, which were really good, but far from "authentic." They were great with the beer. The chicken is shredded and well seasoned. I skipped cheese. They topped with lettuce and I loved every bite. I completely enjoyed my experience and will return to experience an entree. I will definitely return for the beer. Prices are good. Huge parking lot. They seemed to have a large local clientele who were all having a great time. I really enjoyed the vibe.

Unfortunately, it fell a bit short in a few key areas. We started with guacamole and a cheese quesadilla for my daughter. The guacamole was passable, but the salsa that came out with the chips was pretty flat and lacked any real depth of flavor or kick, which isn't a great first impression. The quesadilla was a disappointment too. It came out soggy and tasted pretty bland, not something you'd expect from what should be a simple, satisfying dish. For my main, I went with a burrito and two tacos. The tacos were okay, nothing memorable. The burrito was edible but the refried beans inside were noticeably below par, watery and lacking that rich, savory flavor refried beans should have. It brought the whole dish down. To their credit, the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. No complaints there, our server checked in regularly and kept things moving. The bigger issue is the dining room itself. The ambiance is really in need of a major overhaul. It feels dated and uninviting, which makes it hard to fully enjoy the experience even when the service is pleasant. Los Toltecos isn't terrible, but with some serious attention to the food quality and the space, it could be so much more. For now, it's a reluctant maybe next time.

This specific location is always fairly busy but the food is always fresh and awesome. I'm cureently unable to order anything but the steak fajitas. I'm not sure how they season the steak but it's a flavor I'm always craving an unable to find anywhere else (unless it's a nother Guapo's). They have lots of delicious dishes but we both always get the Steak Fajitas. You get 10oz of marinated skirt steak and that marinade is fire. The steak comes on a sizzling platter with a side of Mexican butter. Butter y'all! You 100% want to pour that butter all over the steak and the sautéed green peppers and onions. This was a new thing for me, but the flavor is incredible. This steak just melts in your mouth. I'm salivating thinking about it. This entree is way too big of a serving to eat at once, but I typically do and am way too full. It's that good! The Fajitas are served with Mexican rice, a la charra beans, guacamole, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and homemade tortillas on the side. The charra beans are also a unique touch. They are hearty and flavorful. Must also brag on their homemade tortillas. To me, the flour is where it's at. They are so soft. You can actually watch them making them fresh from your table. When you put all the fajitas components together and take a bite, it's really delish. Chips and salsa is also stellar, as is their fresh guacamole and queso. If you are going to get a margarita just go ahead and get the large size. They are yummy and it's a better deal than ordering two. Their restaurants are large so lots of tables to accommodate small and large parties alike. It's a casual joint so great for families, celebrations, date night. Service is always quick and attentive, even when they are very busy. If you want a great Mexican meal, come to Guapos. Get those steak fajitas. No notes.

It was around 1pm and the place was pretty empty. It was a classic Mexican style restaurant! Our sever, such a sweet lady, was patient as it was our first visit to any Anita's chain. No! This is Anita's, where I question if they've ever actually BEEN to New Mexico? Almost unbelievably, the veggie burrito contained what is without a doubt, frozen vegetables, possibly from from the nearby Lidl's frozen section--where else would they get exactly that combination of small cubed carrots, peas, corn, and lima beans? Yes, reader, you saw that correctly - lima beans in my burrito! At least it was edible, unlike the pictured Chicharron burrito. I took one bite and my blood sodium level rose to cardiologist-shocking levels. Inedible. I tried cutting it with sour cream, but my efforts were wholly thwarted by the insurmountable--I daresay Herculean--quantities of salt in the burrito. Lest you think this reviewer simply has picky taste, I'll point to one incontrovertible fact of the case, that any reader of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would observe: each time after consuming Anita's, my petite wife's neck swells to the size of my not-unmuscled thigh merely from - presumably - the excessive salt ("edema," to borrow the medical term). I implore you...your body implores you...your cardiologist (present or future) implores you...eat at your own risk!
