A friend and I went to check out this location yesterday for a sit down lunch. We decided to sit at the bar and I ordered the mango margarita and he ordered a margarita flight. I think strawberry was his favorite. We took a minute to look at the menu before placing our orders. I got the nachos al carbon with chicken and steak. Everything was very good and the drinks tasted really good too. I will definitely have to check out their other locations in the DMV. read more

I love this Mexican restaurant. Their food is on point and the service is great. Parking is easy and the decor it's just cute overall. Like a "patio" you imagine in a Pueblo in Mexico. I came with three other people on a Thursday night and have to say the service was attentive and on point with chips and salsa to start. Mexican Jambalaya had a good mix of meats and shrimp with rice and chips; ceviche was delicious with plenty of shrimps in a lime juice. The star of the night was the La Tabalita which we shared. This sampler contained a good sampling of grilled chicken, pork carnitas and Al Pastor steak with cheese quesadillas; guacamole, refried beans, rice and other sides. This place was not it. The service was abysmal. Forgot some of the party's food and drinks. Paid for extra queso on the nachos, didn't get it. One persons meal was entirely missed. Asked for waters multiple times and only brought 3 (we had a party of 8) the server walked away with a $70 tip and could not even manage to provide the basics. Had a reservation for 14 people and were seated promptly at our time. Lots of parking in the back. The chips and salsa they gave the table was great. For my entree, I got the chimichanga and it was pretty good. Meat was cooked well, and the portion size was great. My wife ordered the nachos and there was a good amount of everything. Meat tasted the same as mine. I also ordered a non alcoholic pina colada that tasted solid. Food was delish and great service. Complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were on point. Warm chips with just a dash of salt. I ordered the build your own meal, so I selected one beef chimichanga, one chicken enchilada, and one beef soft taco, served with beans and rice. I asked for black beans but they gave me refried. It was fine, but its not what I asked for. We also had fried soft tacos. The margarita flight was tasty. A nice way to experiment with the different flavors. This is a family place that is welcoming, fun and has great food. We were looking for a nice but non-pretentious Mexican restaurant with yummy margaritas, and now we are Senior Tequila's regulars! The strawberry margarita is my personal favorite but everything we've had is good. The overall feel of this restaurant is really nice, i love how it's decorated to show important people in Mexican Culture. It's colorful, fun, and bright! I have been here multiple times and recommend their Molcajetes as they are big and you can share them with someone else. I tried their Queso with chorizo today and i wouldn't recommend, only because the queso us too watery (unless you like a liquidy queso). Usually when i've come the service is pretty fast and the wait staff are very attentive. I came today and the staff was very nice! the service was just slow. Came with large party a month ago and I believe our servers name was Mario , he did an amazing job getting everyone's drinks and food out quickly and correct. Steak fajitas were okay. Steak was kind of boring so would not recommend but my mom ordered the steak entree and It was delicious. Happy hour margaritas were at a great price and tasted accordingly. Im picky with margs but im just happy they weren't too sweet. A mariachi band came out and it was awesome. I also love the decor! I went with a group for lunch at Señor Tequila recently. The service was very slow even though the place was not full. My order, one of their specials , Paella, took a while to arrive. The staff looked confused the whole time. I had to walk towards the kitchen to ask for utensils and for a water refill. The food was delicious, though. The price is reasonable as well. Came here for Cinco de Mayo and as expected there was a wait to get in. Definitely not the restaurants fault, but I appreciated being able to get some drinks while waiting. The crowd is really mixed probably from being so close to the college campus. Music was great and the staff was really nice and had a great attitude throughout the busy night. The drinks are well made and priced right. I don't feel like I'm being ripped off here :D The frozen margaritas are pretty and layered with the different flavors like a slushy. My favorite drink was the strawberry margarita on the rocks. My friends and I started our meal off with a huge appetizer platter that had wings and nachos, totally recommend getting this to start off as I really loved the wings. I came here with my partner on a Friday night without a reservation. We were seated promptly upon arrival. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave me great recommendations. I truly enjoyed the steak and chorizo tacos, even though the dish had no sides, the tacos itself filled me up! We ordered churros for dessert and they were delicious, however I was a bit upset they didn't bring out chocolate syrup (I've noticed most restaurants add a side of caramel and chocolate) to pair with the churros. I've been twice. The first time I stopped in because I was told they had a good happy hour, which they did. I loved the colorful paint, decorations and large canvas art works in the bar area - superb decor. We were mostly there for happy hour, which was inexpensive and okay, with decent food. On my second visit, we again sat at the bar for happy hour, but decided to order some more food than we had previously. On this visit, the air conditioning was blasting - I'm generally a fan of air conditioning, but this was downright cold. Worse, it smelled strongly and mold/mildew - a "sick" air conditioning system that is in need of maintenance. I had to relocate to avoid being in the direct flow of the vent. The bartender seemed pretty engrossed in conversation with others, and we found him to be generally inattentive. We'd wait for several minutes in the frigid gale of the air conditioner for drink refills and to place our food order, then wait again for boxes and the check. We would have hung out longer and had another round of drinks, but the delays and the temperature changed our evening plans. As for the food? It was just okay. There are better places in town, so this will be our last trip to Senor Tequila's. read more

Tried Senor Tequila's on a weeknight because we were craving some good authentic Mexican. The chips and salsa were great, and I ordered the Birria tacos for my entree. The tacos and sauce had great flavor, and the food came out piping hot. The environment was very relaxed and casual. They stop serving food and drinks at nine thirty so make sure you don't arrive at nine thirty and want to get a quick drink or food because they need to make sure all employees are snug in their bed at 10:01. They failed to honor our reservation, though we arrived early and then waited 25 minutes. No comps were offered. Then we were seated at a poor table by the service door, though 3 other tables were open. We asked to change tables, which sparked confusion with the hostess. The new table was "cleaned", but actually wasn't properly wiped. It, and the menus, were dirty. We transferred the set-ups ourselves. Our orders were taken promptly. They then brought food ordered by another party. Our delivery came next. A neighboring table allowed their dog to "visit ". Then another attempted delivery of food ordered by another party. The quality of the food and drinks is only fair. The prices are ok, with a large menu. A request by one in our party for additional guacamole and sour cream (small soupcons come with the meal) brought another pair of small soupcons, and charges of $3 each. That's ordinarily a courtesy elsewhere. Unlikely we'll return. read more
