Very casual and smaller than your usual tacos, but it works. I've come here more times than I thought I would and I really do like some of their tacos on the menu. Especially the crispy seafood tacos (shrimp,fish, oyster(seasonal)). The duck birria quesadilla from the "not tacos" menu is also delicious with a great cheese pull although on the oilier side. I've been to this location twice now and the food and drinks hit every time! This last time I made it for happy hour with some friends and I really enjoyed their happy hour menu! I really enjoyed the chicken flautas I got and the bar taco margarita with a jalapeño and I thought everything was flavorful, the drink was decently strong and the service does their best to move as fast as they can while still checking on you! I love that the ambiance is a bit darker I feel like it's a bit more intimate that way but it does get super busy depending on the time you come. Based on my previous review, I really liked management's response, so I wanted to give it a new try. So food. Still fusion but much less sweet this time The price point has gotten better since they didn't reissue the prices too much over the years. I'm not a big fan of ordering with QR code but the give you the option and I can see how that can keep prices low. The service has gotten much much better. Also, although tube seen the later "party side" of the establishment. The early crowd is very family friendly. In fact they give a great activity book and just not a coloring sheet. They gave us free salsa as a par of their 10th anniversary special and I was actually impressed! The guacamole, ceviche, steak taco, and elote were pretty good. Emily was a great waitress as she was very accommodating for my friend and I's first time here! She recommended some pretty good tacos such at the crispy oyster which I tried and loved. It's kinda like a bite with a burst of the ocean a bit but very flavorful. I ended up getting a second one! The duck taco was very soft and tender. The sesame ribeye was good with the kimchi topping which balanced well. The ahi tuna taco however was a bit too florally fragrant for me so I didn't enjoy it as much. Reasonably priced tacos and a good place to stop while in Mosaic district. Some of the tacos lacked spice/flavor. I like the matchbooks they have up front. The wait was really long on a Saturday night which is fine but we kept getting told unrealistic times. I don't think the server introduced herself/gave a name and started talking about the QR code. Drinks and food were sent and received at a reasonable pace. Our second order of tacos was given to another table and that was corrected quickly when the other table got their order of tacos. Drinks/Food: The aqua frescas were delicious! That first sip of sour and the rest is sweet. :) Ice water is available to drink in their cute bar taco glasses. Our appetizer was the poke nachos. I thought it was interesting they just gave us the large tortilla chips. But it was a great sensory experience during the meal to make my own chips! The poke dip was seasoned well and wasn't salty. For tacos, we tried the: Ribeye, duck, porkbelly, baja, shrimp lime. They were all pretty standard tacos, but the top tacos for me was the pork belly and the baja taco. Deliciousssss. This is the place!! Ambient, vibey, clean, so much attention to detail, and DELISH food! We came here spontaneously for lunch and had the best service. We were sat on the patio, which is the perfect spot, given a fully coloring book and crayons for our toddler, plus a kid's cup of water, which was so nice considering this place definitely doesn't look like they would cater so much to children. We ordered some drinks and tacos, and all were AMAZING! I loved the pork belly and the carnitas The tacos ARE small, they recommend ordering 3-5 per person, but even at that we still felt like this was a very reasonably priced spot given the location and decor. We also ordered some of their fresh pressed juices which were the most amazing and refreshing addition to our tacos! Everything is well labeled on their menu for Gluten Free and other dietary restrictions which was so nice for my GF/DF husband! We came in around 930 after our Musepaint bar session and were seated right away! I've never had a bad experience at bartaco. I remember the first time this place opened, they'd give you a card with a pencil that you'd fill out what kind of taco you want, and now you can sit down and order as much as you want through your phone, and even close out on it too. Went for a double date on a Monday afternoon, the restaurant has fun light vibes with their open concept to the outdoor patio seating. We arrived in time for Happy hour but was dissatisfied to learn its only applied at the bar and not at the tables, nonetheless we were able to still order and just bring over our drinks & food to our table. decided to try this spot as i was visiting virginia for the weekend and saw this spot was popular near me. I decided to order take out as i had a long day. Ordered around 8:50pm, said expected to be finished around 9:20pm. 30 minutes totally understandable. I get there around 9:30, i totally understand it was a saturday night, people go out and service can get more difficult to handle due to the amount of people there. I only ordered 5 tacos, the person doing the takeout orders said 2-3 minutes ( they were finishing up supposedly). 20 minutes go by, still no order packed for me. I understand it's packed. 10:15 STILL NO ORDER. I was truly becoming frustrated as i purposely did takeout to be quick and simple. I received my order realizing none of the takeout sauces were even in the bag that i requested for. I had to go back in as i read reviews their sauce was great. Maybe my expectations are too high but these were truly not great tacos. I started eating 5-10 minutes after picking it up. The tortilla were absolutely destroyed and falling apart. The carne asada was insanely dry and had no flavor. Chicken was super dry and tasted like it had no seasonings. I hate to be harsh on a establishment, i understand some days are stressful but i couldn't help but realize there was quite a bit of servers but there was only one guy finishing up the tacos with the garnishes like onions and cilantro ( based by photo there was basically none btw) definitely need improvements with service and working as a team. This was my first visit to this location. I've walked by it many times every time I came to Mosaic District. We originally started off at Ted's Bulletin, and ended up here. There is plenty of seating at the bar as well as tables. We chose to sit at the bar for a more casual feel. They have a nice food menu consisting of chips/sauces, tacos, etc. For anyone who hasn't been here, they usually provide customers a paper where you check off whichever Taco you want and include any customization . I don't necessarily have a favorite taco, but tend to order whatever I'm in the mood for that day. I tried a couple different tacos: glazed pork belly and seared chorizo. They had a drink line up of margaritas for the month, but I asked if they can make a Jalapeño margarita and they did :) My friends were feeling adventurous and selected different ones from the line up. I wish I took pictures of everything, but we were just so engrossed in our conversation. There is parking across the restaurants, either street parking or the parking garage attached to Target. We sat on the patio and tried the appetizer platter, a few different tacos and the duck birria. I enjoyed the plaintains and the oyster taco the most ! & the green margarita was tasty as well. They don't have sour cream for tacos but did have a creamy sauce that comes with the plantains and on the oyster taco as well. The menu has options for everybody and there are seasonal items alongside yearlong options. This time around I ordered the baja fish, seared chorizo, and glazed pork belly tacos for an after work dinner with friends. Fish tacos are my go to at most taco places and this one is great! It's crispy and refreshing when compared to the other options available, not spicy like it says on the menu. The seared chorizo is pretty good but it's a little difficult to eat because the pieces are cut small. I would highly recommend the glazed pork! The pork is soft, a little sweet, and bite-sized. It's topped with pickled onions which balance them really well. I always love the tacos at Bartaco! I almost always get the glazed pork belly taco from here, and it is so delicious. The pork is super sweet, fatty, and crispy, and the pickled onions are perfect. However, I will say the tacos are quite expensive, especially considering how small they are, and they are a little bit inconsistently made. Sometimes the pork is on the tougher side. Along with the tacos, I ordered the esquites, which were very good as well. They were super creamy, and they had a nice acidity to them. We ordered the guac + verde + roja as well, which was good. I tried the Pina colada, which was tasty, but I have also never had a pina colada before so I am not sure how it compares to others. I have also tried the fish taco in the past, and it is super solid. Some other people ordered them this time and said they were great. I hadn't eaten at the restaurant in a while (I usually pick up from here). The service was really good, better than I remembered. The restaurant is super spacious and has outdoor seating. After getting recommendations for the best margaritas in town, I decided to try bar taco's spicy margarita for my first postpartum drink after 10 months. It was delicious and well blended. The tacos however, were disappointingly small and overpriced. Each one was 2 bites and though tasty didn't justify the price. The spicy cucumber salad was tasty and had a little heat but nothing overwhelming. The plantains were also enjoyable. The chips with guacamole and red/green salsa were also tasty and better than most places. The tacos here are tasty but small for the price. I had three since they're only a couple bites and they recommend 3-5 tacos a person. The chile lime shrimp was best followed by the sesame ribeye then the mushroom but I'd recommend them all. Drinks are solid here as well. The spicy margarita had some heat and didn't have a too sweet flavor like some regular margs suffer from. I can vouch the ingredients are fresh since I saw the poor bartender having to squeeze dozens of limes in a hand press. Service at the bar was fast and friendly. Bartaco has a dining experience unlike most places. There's a lot of room for seating when walking here, it's definitely a good place for bigger crowds on the weekend. Ordering here is through the web browser, something I have never heard of until recently. It's unique as it's like ordering at the bar, you keep a tab open until you close it out. You order as much as you want and the website keeps track of it for you. Definitely no wait if it's busy and you need to flag down a server. I like it. This place is definitely meant for tapas, or small appetizers/bites. They aren't meant to fill you up but if you are by yourself, you'd be better ordering at least 3-5 tacos as the portions are small. It's more suited for groups as people just order so many tacos and everyone shares what they have. It's a great communal experience. I got Salsa Roja and Chips to start off with. They came out pretty quick. While I was a bit intrigued by how big the chips were, they were sturdy and kept their structure as I scooped the Salsa onto my chips. Slight kick but it won't make you sweat. It's a great starter. Then came the tacos and I will honestly say that the fusion tacos really work well here. They are extremely good. I got the Brisket Taco which was my favorite taco of them all. It's tequila spiked brisket served with spicy pickled onions and a habanero hot sauce. It was probably made so well that I ended up getting it twice. The second taco I got was the glazed pork belly. It's pork belly that's been braised but caramelized in a sweet arbol chile glaze with cilantro and pickled red onions. It's a tad sweet but it's also very savory. It's a bit fatty because it's pork belly but so delicious. The third taco I got was the Sesame Ribeye which is pretty much what if Bulgogi was in a taco form. It's shaved ribeye beef marinated in a sweet sesame-soy sauce topped with spicy kimchi and cilantro. This was also so good but I did not order more. I also got the spiced chicken verde taco too. Chicken in chile and herb marinated topped with aguacata salsa? It was not too spicy but enough spice to feel something. I really enjoy Bartaco.
