After getting recommendations for the best margaritas in town, I decided to try bar taco's spicy margarita for my first postpartum drink after 10 months. It was delicious and well blended. The tacos however, were disappointingly small and overpriced. Each one was 2 bites and though tasty didn't justify the price. I would definitely come back for the drinks but would skip the food next time. Service was prompt and we were well attended to. The ambiance is upscale casual with a nautical theme, which is nice for a date night or get together with friends read more

Bartaco Mosaic - Spicy margarita - Tacos Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

Enjoyable place to grab some food if you're at Mosaic. There was a wait for a table on a Saturday afternoon(I assume due to low staffing since they had empty tables) so we sat at the bar without a wait. The food here is fresh and tasty. The spicy cucumber salad was tasty and had a little heat but nothing overwhelming. The plantains were also enjoyable. The chips with guacamole and red/green salsa were also tasty and better than most places. The tacos here are tasty but small for the price. I had three since they're only a couple bites and they recommend 3-5 tacos a person. The chile lime shrimp was best followed by the sesame ribeye then the mushroom but I'd recommend them all. Drinks are solid here as well. The spicy margarita had some heat and didn't have a too sweet flavor like some regular margs suffer from. I can vouch the ingredients are fresh since I saw the poor bartender having to squeeze dozens of limes in a hand press. Service at the bar was fast and friendly. This place is a little pricey since tacos are $3-4 each and on the small side but they also have other options. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and will be back again. read more

Reagan B. is literally the best server ever! He was so attentative and energetic and made my dinner experience unforgettable!

Bartaco has a dining experience unlike most places. There's a lot of room for seating when walking here, it's definitely a good place for bigger crowds on the weekend. Ordering here is through the web browser, something I have never heard of until recently. It's unique as it's like ordering at the bar, you keep a tab open until you close it out. You order as much as you want and the website keeps track of it for you. Definitely no wait if it's busy and you need to flag down a server. I like it. This place is definitely meant for tapas, or small appetizers/bites. They aren't meant to fill you up but if you are by yourself, you'd be better ordering at least 3-5 tacos as the portions are small. It's more suited for groups as people just order so many tacos and everyone shares what they have. It's a great communal experience. I got Salsa Roja and Chips to start off with. They came out pretty quick. While I was a bit intrigued by how big the chips were, they were sturdy and kept their structure as I scooped the Salsa onto my chips. Slight kick but it won't make you sweat. It's a great starter. Then came the tacos and I will honestly say that the fusion tacos really work well here. They are extremely good. I got the Brisket Taco which was my favorite taco of them all. It's tequila spiked brisket served with spicy pickled onions and a habanero hot sauce. It was probably made so well that I ended up getting it twice. The second taco I got was the glazed pork belly. It's pork belly that's been braised but caramelized in a sweet arbol chile glaze with cilantro and pickled red onions. It's a tad sweet but it's also very savory. It's a bit fatty because it's pork belly but so delicious. The third taco I got was the Sesame Ribeye which is pretty much what if Bulgogi was in a taco form. It's shaved ribeye beef marinated in a sweet sesame-soy sauce topped with spicy kimchi and cilantro. This was also so good but I did not order more. I also got the spiced chicken verde taco too. Chicken in chile and herb marinated topped with aguacata salsa? It was not too spicy but enough spice to feel something. I really enjoy Bartaco. I think it's system is very good especially on busy nights where there's a lot of people dining in. I hope I can swing by for a future visit. The tacos rock here! read more

It's nice to pop into this space late at night after a long day at work. It's truly a perfect venue to give your taste buds a wonderful experience, and your mind a relaxing ambience to rest in. I thought the whole experience from ordering to closing out the bill was super nice all being digital. Flavors I never thought of combining together provided an absolutely stellar journey through the universe of authentic and elegance. This isn't just any taco experience, this is a trip into another dimension. You won't regret going here. read more

I was having a rough day & popped in for some food after a movie. Had some great tacos & tasty cocktails (chicken verde & oyster tacos w/ anejo old fashioned). My bartender was awesome, super chill & helpful with recommendations. Would definitely go back next time I'm in town! read more

I love Bar Taco! I used to come here all the time, and it makes for a wonderful date spot! The service was great, our waiter Kendall was attentive and kind! He brought us more chips to scoop out the remaining guac in our bowl- THANK YOU!!! The tacos were so tasty! Tip: you need at least 4 tacos to make it a meal. What we ordered: shrimp- 3/5 (it came with rice? The consistency was weird) Chicken verde- 3/5 (it used to be good but it was mid) Ribeye-5/5 (tasted like kbbq in a taco SO TASTY) Pork belly- 5/5 (crunchy and delicious! LOVE) Guac and chips- 6/5 (honestly the main character of the meal) ok but seriously the chips were hot and fresh with the perfect snap when you break it apart. It was lightly salted. The guac was very smooth and limey and SO SO GOOD WE NEEDED MORE! Tres leches- 5/5 It doesn't matter if you think you're full, you need to save room for this! It's shareable and so light and airy. I loved the coconut crisps on top! It was amazing! Duck- 3/5 (too saucy and salty) read more

We've been to Bartaco a few times now, and overall it's a great spot. The atmosphere is definitely one of the highlights--really laid back, fun, and a good place to hang out whether you're with friends or just grabbing a casual meal. That said, our most recent visit was a little hit or miss. The tacos ended up being much spicier than expected, and it kind of overpowered the flavors, which wasn't really my thing. I've enjoyed the food more on previous visits, so I'm hoping it was just an off night. Still, the vibe and overall experience keep us coming back. Definitely worth checking out, just maybe double-check the spice level if that's not your thing! read more

Having just arrived from the airport, we were looking for a spot nearby to grab lunch. Boy, did we choose well! Bartaco has the ambiance, the food and the service to make this a five star restaurant. Looking for a cocktail or a mocktail? No problem! They've got you covered with freshly squeezed juices and finely crushed ice. We had the recommended pork belly taco at my with a few others - all were amazing. Vegetarian? No worries! The brussel sprouts taco is to die for. Not in the mood for tacos? Bet! Try one of the many amazing crispy rice bowls. The ahi tuna bowl was beyond delicious. Our waitress was so attentive and David, the manager, even comped a dessert for us! This place is so cute and the vibes are immaculate. read more

Actually my all time favorite restaurant. I've been to this location about 10 times. Everything I've tried on the menu is amazing. I am absolutely addicted to their pork belly tacos. The glaze is incredible and the pork is super crispy. They have a QR code you can scan to start your tab and they get your food to you SO quickly. I am always extremely satisfied with the food and service and the vibes are always great when I'm here! read more

Bartaco Mosaic - Glazed Pork Belly Tacos - Tacos Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

Came back again for a quick bite at the bar. Prices have gone up from 3 years when I last came... What I got: Mojito - well balanced but very little alcohol, for $12.50 you are definitely not getting a bang for your buck Mushroom taco - flavors were on point, good option for vegetarians/vegans Duck taco - ok but a bit overcooked, comes with pickled onions **Pork belly taco- by far my favorite, a bit crispy with a tangy sweet sauce, comes with pickled red onions** Ribeye taco - a twist on Korean bulgogi, has kimchi cabbage, this is ok Shrimp taco - very acidic, pickled onion, carrots - not as good as I remembered Pros: -open seating at the bar -popular spot, packed on a weekday night -plenty of seating overall, good for large groups -tacos have a lot of flavor depth Cons: -portion size is pretty small for the price ~ $4 a taco -I had to constantly flag a server down despite using their card system -cocktails aren't strong -very loud inside read more

Excellent cocktails and top-notch service. The atmosphere is amazing , evoking the sensation of being at a posh beach bar on a luxurious vacation getaway. Their new happy hour menu, named the high tide menu is available on weekdays from 3-6 pm at the bar. When I came in for this deal I noticed that some items on this menu offer no discount whatsoever. Specifically, the prices for small bites match those on the regular menu, failing to reflect any discount during happy hour. There are however discounted prices for the cocktails listed on their happy hour menu. I had the Cazuela and the Fuego de Pina cocktails, both expertly crafted and quite delicious. Yet, the Cazuela stole the show with its perfect blend of grapefruit juice and orange flavors. The tacos, while tasty, are on the smaller side. I'd suggest ordering at least 4-5 per person if not pairing them with a snack. Overall, I'd certainly consider returning, although I hope they'll introduce unique food deals during happy hour that differ from the regular menu. read more

Nice taco place in Mosaic district. I love the glaze pork tacos! You order from the QR code and the food will be delivered to your table. Less interaction with the staff. I visited this place a few times and food quality has been consistently good! I highly recommend you to try this place if you are in the area. Good vibe and good food! read more

4 stars for the tacos and food. After living in California for 8 years, I've had trouble finding tacos in DC for the past 3 years. This place is top 3 so I had to leave a review before the new year as a thank you! We didn't make a reservation and just sat at the bar. Drinks were good, nothing special but did the job! Staff was great. It felt pretty casual. I would come back again specifically for the tacos!!! This definitely wouldn't be a trendy date spot in my opinion. More like tacos with friends, or meeting someone casual to catch up. I'll be back for tacos I'm sure. read more

Bartaco is like going to a tropical beach restaurant while shopping at the Mosaic Center. I can't understand how we haven't been here before. The food was fine and the atmosphere was great. read more

This was an unexpected drop in for lunch. I was able to sit immediately at the bar and they have the best lunch special 3 tacos and a side for approx. $13! The street tacos were surprisingly filling as they were loaded with the goods. The service was quick and efficient for the bar. The vibes are good for a time out with friends or a quick lunch date. There isn't parking close so great to park and walk around a bit before dropping in. I seen a full patio as well. read more

The location is conveniently located between two parking garages and it is a quick to walk to from both of them. I have been here after work on weeknights and it's always busy. You probably want to put your name on the waitlist if you want to get a table. Lots of options of unique taco flavors. You can order food via a QR code from your table and the server brings it to you. It was a nice day so took advantage of the outdoor seating area that is semi covered which was great. Good spot for a get together with friends, coworkers, or a date night. read more

The service is almost always good and so it the atmosphere, BUT my food always misses the mark in some way. I usually get a glazed pork belly bowl. It seems like the meat is sometimes over cooked or the old is mixed with the new. I've experimented with going earlier right after opening and it's the same experience. The meat is never all cooked to the same. Some pieces are hard as coal and others good to go. Please fix this inconsistency!!! read more

Well, I gave BarTaco another shot...and, well, I was impressed! Sitting at the bar and enjoying a perfect Mojito only had a little to do with my five star assessment on this round :-) As I learned, the only way to truly appreciate BarTaco is to sit down, relax, and be treated as a valued customer. As mentioned, the Mojito was perfect with the right balance of rum, mint, lime, and sugar. People were friendly - both fellow customers as well as staff. Unlike with my to go order from my previous review, my tacos were not half empty. This time, the Pork Belly and Squash Blossoms were more than the right amount for the taco shell...and full of flavor. I also ordered a 4 pack build-it-yourself pack of Chicken Verde tacos for later. All were impeccable. I have definitely come to appreciate BarTaco now and will return often... read more

I visited Bartaco on a weekday during lunch and we ended up waiting about 10 minutes for a table because the weather was beautiful. I noticed before we went that you can actually get on the waitlist ahead of time. We were greeted shortly after sitting from one of the managers that introduced herself and gave us a run down of what to expect and how to order. There was a QR conveniently located on the table that gave you the menu and you also ordered through it. The speed in which the food came out was impressive. I ordered the pork belly taco and the cauliflower taco. They are definitely the same size as an authentic Mexican taco so it's only a few bites. With that said, they were both fabulous. I preferred the pork belly, but the veggie option was great too. We also ordered the plantains and they cooked as close to perfect as they could be. I really enjoyed this place and would 100% return or recommend to someone. Actually as I left I snapchatted a friend telling her about it and how she needed to try it. A+ read more

Bartaco Mosaic - Tacos Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

Bartaco is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in Mosaic District! We like to call it "taco tapas" because of all the small plates and 3 bite tacos. Start with a grapefruit Paloma and thank me later. This light, refreshing drink is super tasty. Their spicy margaritas are muy bien as well. For non alcoholic- their Arnold Palmer's are just sweet enough. It's fun to order a bunch of "not taco" appetizers like their Mexican street corn, plantains, chips, salsa and guac and black beans. All delicious! Don't skip the duck birria either - if you're into spicy food. As for tacos - the duck taco is my all time favorite. It's super simple with just pulled duck, their flavorful sauce and cilantro. Perfecto! Other standouts are their Baja fish and chicken verde. If you go in the Spring, be sure to have their secret squash blossom taco - to die for!! There's usually a wait (like every day), so get on the waitlist early. Food comes out super fast and hot. I just love it here. Can you tell?? Gracias! read more

Bartaco is hands down the best bang for your buck! There is a reason the vibes are always high and you have to wait for seating on a typical lunch hour! Everything is priced so reasonably and the ingredients are so fresh. It's delicious Mexican food that you don't feel guilty about eating! Not to mention, all of their juices used in their cocktails are fresh squeezed at the bar. Make sure you order the orange crush. read more

My wife loves this place. The pictures are a collection of lunches over several lunch dates. Ordering here requires a cell phone to take a picture of the QR code. They gave us water, then we ordered and paid on phone before they delivered the meals. Meals never take long to be delivered. The managers and waitresses occasionally stop by to refill water glasses. The restaurant is always busy if not full. The tacos are small but I like the flavor. While the food is not the 'best I have ever had' it is consistently warm, good flavor, and delivered quickly. read more

Still ordering for the QR codes but food comes out quick. Pork tacos had the most flavor, crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. Korean BBQ beef is the way to go if you like teriyaki and soy sauce flavors. Duck taco had gamy earthy flavors. Margaritas had alot of fresh squeezed limes but were on the pricey side. read more

We ate here on Monday, and the food was amazing. But more impressive was the service! We have a newborn and a toddler, so it can be difficult to go out to eat sometimes, but the servers were so kind and accommodating. We had a great experience and will be back again. read more

very good food, service was excellent and fast. cute little place with nice lighting, ambiance was great.

I can't believe it took me all these years to finally visit bartaco!! It was so refreshing to visit a restaurant in the DMV that actually has a wide range of tequila and topo chico! Most restaurants carry tequila that has a bunch of additives (especially those brands endorsed by celebrities ). I was so happy to learn that they had Siete Leguas, so of course I had to order some ranch water . * * * What we ordered and totally loved: guacamole + salsa verde with chips falafel taco baja fish taco cauliflower taco mushroom rice bowl the BEST churros I've had in the DMV * * * While they have multiple locations, I truly prefer the mosaic district annnnnnd they have lots of shopping and parking. Ps. Did you know that the mosaic district has a sip and stroll? If you're planning a girl's night out or a date night, check it out this weekend!! read more

I was meeting 2 friends that I hadn't seen in sometime so we all decided on Bartaco. What stood out to me as we were leaving the restaurant was...what a fabulous "experience" we had. I got to thinking on the way home what made it feel extra special...The food was great, the surroundings, noise level was good but what kept standing out to me was our server Emily. Because we had different requirements (vegetarian, meat lover, gluton free) it was such a pleasure to have someone REALLY know the menu. We had no idea what to order and didn't want to spend 15 min figuring it all out. Emily was able to give us an excellent description of each item, what was good to share, what sides were included, how many we should order for the table etc. She had that special talent that so few staff seem to have now...she knew not to be overbearing but at the same time, check in frequently to see how we liked our orders. Her demeanor and presence set the tone for the lunch. I can't wait to go back as the food was so fresh and tasty with a wide variety of offerings but I think we may check to see if Emily is there before we head over! She had the ingredients that all servers should exhibit! Congrats to the management for finding her! read more

I have to admit a fun concept. The folks who work here are very friendly. Every time I've felt welcomed, and it's a good spot for a date night. Whether getting to know a lady better, or catching a meal with a girlfriend of a serious relationship, this works as it's quirky in a good way. You can order with a QR code, which is odd, but I'm learning to adjust to it. Also you can put a card up and have a server handle it regular style. Definitely A plus service. The beer selection is limited. My recommendation is DC Brau. The food is fairly expensive, but the quality is high. They have a number of small but unique tacos to choose from. My usual choices are pork belly, duck, and fish. I could be incorrect but I think the fish tacos are cod. They are my favorite of all. Definitely go here, but do be prepared for it to be busy. It is a popular restaurant but for good reason, and I'm happy to recommend it. Cozy, clean, and comfortable! read more
