Ok I had to see what all the fuss was about. Came by for lunch take-out since I was in the area. Got two 3-taco meals to go: all steak for my husband, and 1 each fish/steak/chicken tinga for me. (It was Tuesday and I wanted to try the Birria special but they only let you order in 2s/3s, so I couldn't just get one to try! Bummer!). Verdict: skip the steak. It was gray and flavorless, cooked to total death. I took a bite and fed the rest to my dog, I'm not even kidding. It was gross. The chicken tinga was ok, but again really overcooked to the point that I didn't even know I was eating chicken. The fish was very good, though. That one I would get again. Chips were pretty good, salsa is super chunky like a pico de gallo type. Also a B+. Service was very fast. No one in line ahead of me at 12 noon on a weekday, and I didn't wait long for my order. That was a plus. I'd like to come back and try the Birria since a) I've never had it before; and b) Yelpers seem to rave about it. I'd also try maybe a burrito bowl or a Chimichanga, just so I could have a few things to compare. But for this visit, it was a bit of a swing and a miss for me. read more

Best tacos in the area, bar none. Staff are nice and helpful. However, we had a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE on our latest order. We ordered chicken tacos and fish tacos, and the boxes were labeled backwards....this would seem to be a minor issue, however I have an allergy to fish products and I started eating what were labeled chicken tacos....needless to say, I had a severe allergic reaction and was very uncomfortable for several hours afterward. We called the restaurant to emphasize the importance of correctly labeling their products, and all we were told was that they would provide two more tacos for free if we wanted. that seemed to be an inappropriate response IMO. read more

Good eatery to pop in and pop out for some authentic Mexican food. It's not far from my house and it's not Taco Bell. Kind of reminds me of when I was posted in Mexico City.. the sitting in a small dining room. Food prices are reasonable for the area. Definitely my new taco spot for Taco Tuesday (well tacos any day!) This spot definitely did not disappoint! My husband got Birria and I got the three tacos option and we got the elote (corn) as well. The first bite of elote was amazing till it's very last bite! The corn was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed all 3 of my tacos very much- barbacola, chorizo and chicken tinga- the barbacola was the best in my opinion. I did cheat and get flour tortillas. The chicken tinga taco tortilla was "toasted" and I wish the case was the same for the barbacola and chorizo. Nevertheless still very good! I took a few bites of the Birria and that was heavenly. Definitely a must get! Will be coming back here often! read more

Best Mexican food I have had in a while! Ordered veggie bowls and they tasted great. Good proportions of beans rice and veggie. Very fresh and flavorful. The sauces are tangly and spicy. Service was great. Plenty of seating inside and a couple of tables outside. read more

I'm not sure if I would come back post-covid, but this taco spot was not very impressive at all. Their menu selection compared to other taco spots I've been to was very limited. I didn't like any of the meats on there because I had a feeling they were going to taste dry and they did taste dry. I would say that the only meat that tasted decent was the BBQ brisket (only because it's hard to make dry brisket). Also got an elotes (Mexican Street Corn) and it was also average. The corn was not juicy and it made the whole thing taste about average. They offer chips and queso as a side too - the chips were stale!! The queso was decent but tasted like it came out of the can. They could possibly add some spice to the queso or some other flavor - a cultural flavor to it, not some plain cheese sauce that you could microwave or cook. Lastly, they skimped out on the salsa, so you're basically eating flavorless tacos. As you can see in the pictures, they give you one tiny container of salsa... I'd say if they expand their menu and add some flavor, I'd consider trying them again. read more

I've drove by this spot so many times and decided to a was the day to stop in! The inside is smaller, but there were plenty of tables to sit at, albeit they were busy and full at lunchtime. I ordered the beef barbacoa and a chicken tinga. The order came out pretty fast given how busy they were. I thought each taco was pretty good. Similar to some other reviews, I found that the meat lacked flavor and wished for more. The toppings were just rather regular and didn't make up for the lack of overall flavor of the meat in the taco. Portion size was good. I would come back to bring a friend who wasn't very adventurous and "just wants a taco." Given the competition for flavorful and outstanding tacos in the area I was underwhelmed. read more

I liked the tacos. I did not *love* the tacos. Despite all the hype, this restaurant has mediocre food at a fairly high price point despite getting a lot inside the taco and a fairly filling meal. Situated in an office complex, it is fairly easy to miss, so get a GPS on hand if it is your first time heading out here. I got four tacos because, yeah, I do that. Tinga (Chicken), Ground Beef, Fish (they use Swai - aka shark catfish), and Chorizo. All of the tacos seem to taste the same, very little differentiation between any of them (except the Ground Beef one, that one tasted like I just went through the Taco Bell drive-thru). Sure, the meat is plentiful and the tacos are stuffed to the brim, but that is about the only positives I can think of when it came to the quality of the food. Another thing that bothered me was the contradictions of the restaurant. Playing Bob Marley and the Wailers in this setting just felt off. Bob Marley and tacos do not mix, I am sorry. To the right of my table was a scenic aerial view of Croatia. Again, why? Croatia has nothing to do with a dish that originated in Mexico. Unless it is a tribute to the owner's heritage, it still confused the heck out of me when I saw it. In my opinion, an aerial shot of Cancun or Mexico City would have worked better. Then again maybe all the smog would have blocked the city out. In my opinion, you can skip this one. If you have been to Taco Bamba, or have not gone there yet, go there. Was in the area so found this place doing a search for food. Wasn't too sure about the place as it was in an empty business area. It was after 6:30 so the nearby offices were closed. I ordered three tacos (2 shrimp and 1 fish) and my husband got the chicken chimichanga. I read that they make their own salsa so decided to try their chips and salsa, too. The shrimp and fish in the tacos were really nicely cooked, not over cooked at all. I usually get flour tortillas cause I don't like corn tortillas. But these came out in the corn tortillas (I'm pretty sure I asked for flour). Not wanting to wait for a redo, I just ate them. These corn tortillas were actually ok. They weren't too thick, as the corn ones can be. Overall, the tacos had a nice flavoring, and it was all very soft. The tacos had some guacamole in them which was good. But I did think it could've had a bit more salt/flavoring. I would order the tacos with the corn tortillas next time. My husband liked his chimichanga and said it was flavorful. However, the portion of the chimichanga was a bit small. It came with beans and rice, which looked fresh and tasty, but always seem more like fillers. The main chimichanga could've been larger. There were small portions of salsa and guac on the plate. My husband and I prob could eat one and a half or a double portion of the chimichanga. The chips and salsa were ok. The salsa is not a thick tomato based one we are accustomed to. We wouldn't order again. We got to-go orders of barbacoa and ground beef quesadillas for my son. Both looked good, decent portions. They came with a small side of sour cream. I tried a piece of each. They were good, but nothing that stood out. They sell canned/bottled drinks from a refrigerator. Coke products and drinks like horchata. Overall, the food was flavorful enough that I'd visit again if in the area. But I'd stick with the tacos. I just stopped in to get a quick bite to eat for dinner. I ordered a bbq brisket burrito and stopped by since it was close by. The bbq brisket burrito was pretty good. I ordered guacamole on it so it came out to $13. Similar pricing to Chipotle. The burrito was good. It could have been a little more flavorful in my opinion but not bad. The restaurant is pretty well lit with signs and colorful markings for the menu. The staff was friendly. Pretty decent Mexican cuisine. I enjoyed it. read more

The hardest part is deciding which two or three you want!! With full eyes and a appetite to match, I decided to go with three tacos. the gentleman was kind enough to pass along the favorites and his personal recommendations. So many choices, actually listed top to bottom on the menu board, my stomach led me to bbq brisket, beef barbacoa and chicken and I can definitely tell you I have no complaints at all!!!! The absolute best part is they all come with guac, standard, no extra charge, no upcharge, nada!!! Where else do they shell out the guac on the taco just because???? Ummm, here they do!!! Now for all the umph they have in taco's they lack in drinks. I can tell you there is no alcoholic bevy's unless I missed them. Drinks are basic, as in Coke, Diet Coke and a few traditional favs. There is seating so you can dine in, you can walk in and the place be virtually empty and by the time you finish your food, the place is packed. They do have tv's so you can get our sports fix and the restrooms are clean. The staff is very attentive as well, once you look like you have finished your food, or scrapped the container clean in my case, they do come by and offer to clean away your trash and even offer up dessert if you still have room. Halal + authentic Mexican? Can't be beat! I've had my share of Mexican here in VA after moving from Cali and of course nothing really seemed to compare. But the tacos and plates we had at taco zocalo was probably the best Mexican we have had in this area so far. We enjoyed all the taco options especially the steak.
