Not as pretty looking because it's mixed already with everything. But it was yummy!

Shah's halal food restaurant recently opened about 2 weeks ago in the North point village shopping center. And it's pretty good here!! If you like Halal guys and DCG and wished that there was a place closer in Reston? Look no farther!! We got the combo platter as usual, they give pretty good portions of rice, chicken, gyro meats, veggies, red onions and you can choose other toppings like chickpeas, hummus, diced sweet onions, other types of veggies. Sauces they have the white sauce and spicy red sauce (which wasn't too spicy for us since we eat our food extra spicy) and they also have green chili sauce which we didn't get. Next time I will try some. But for now, this bowl of food was satisfying as it is. Their chicken and gyro meat tasted good, it wasn't overly salty like some places. Their meats went very well with their rice and veggies. Service was quick and friendly! We will be back for more!

Shah's Halal Food is another expansion from a food truck in Queens, NY and they just opened in Reston with a free rice platter at lunch. For those that are familiar with the Halal Guys in NYC, this is very similar and it looks like they are growing just as fast. Lamb, Chicken, gyros, falafel, and even cheesesteaks. My son and I line up in the cold and the line outside quickly lengthens in size to 50+ folks. We wait approximately 10-15 minutes outside and then get inside where the friendly manager/owner (not sure which) chats with folks and talks about the impressive expansion they are doing in the DMV. Nice people working the store... We both opt for the Combo Rice Platter with lamb and chicken. The chicken has a reddish/orangish marinade which is a bit different from other halal places and you also can add numerous toppings - lettuce, cucumber/tomatoes, onions, chickpeas, hummus, fried veggies (onions, peppers), etc. You then must top it off with the white sauce and I also prefer the hot red sauce. There are a few other sauces offered but I didn't partake. How does it compare? Good, solid, tasty food...the proteins are moist and marinated nicely, the veggies are fresh and with the combo of the white and red sauce it is a good meal. Is it the best rendition I've had?? Probably not..but definitely a solid option when feeling a halal meal. Nice to have this new option in Reston...

If you live in Reston and don't want to go out of your way to get The Halal Guys, this is a great and delicious alternative. It was full of flavor and the Falafel had a nice crunch to it.

Went there the other day. It has a huge parking lot so it's not hard to find parking. It wasn't busy when I went in around 5, and food was good! I love DCG, but it's further out from me. This place is just as good minus the extra minutes to drive to DCG. They offer a variety of toppings such as beans, chickpeas, and salad, and they're generous with the sauce. I liked it and I will be back!

Ordering is quick and easy through the iPad, and I went with the Beef Perfect Bowl over rice. The portion alone impressed me. It came piled high with grilled beef, fresh greens, rice, and even an egg roll, making it feel like a complete meal rather than just a rice bowl. The beef was flavorful, the vegetables added a nice freshness, and while I'm trying to cut back on carbs, I have to admit the sticky rice soaked up all the savory sauce and was hard to stop eating. The only thing I would do differently next time is ask for jalapeños or another spicy topping. I like my food with a little more heat, and I think that extra kick would have taken the bowl to the next level. There are a handful of tables if you want to eat there, but I grabbed mine to go. Hidden gem is an overused phrase, but in this case it actually fits. Generous portions, solid flavors, and reasonable prices for this day and age.

I'm a local customer and live just a minute away, so I've visited more than once. I came in for lunch today with my wife and our 1.5-year-old son. After placing our order and sitting down, the server loudly yelled from behind the counter for us to come get our water. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional, especially with a young child. When I placed my order, I asked for extra white sauce, and I asked again when the food came out. Both times, the request was ignored. I also mentioned that we hadn't received our drinks, but instead of addressing it, the server again yelled for us to get the drinks ourselves from the cooler. The food itself was okay, but the bread was very poor--hard and barely edible. I even called the restaurant later in the evening to share my concerns, but was told the server was off at that time. Overall, very disappointing experience, mainly due to the customer service. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to improvement.

I also had the chicken samosa. More flat in presentation then typical types. still tasted good with the green sauce on side. About 6 pieces? You will be stuffed after finishing both. Price $30+

The aushack is like ravioli, but I didn't stand out to me. The Sambosa was crispy but minimal filling--still good taste wise. Ambiance wasn't fancy but was homey and cozy. Really nice portions and plenty of veg options. The seasoned rice options were lovely and my husband really enjoyed his tea. Appetizer was OK but the mains were superb and we were so full we couldn't finish. I got the seib, which was a main dish that primarily featured apples. I hadn't seen that before and I was skeptical before eating but wanted to try something different and it was incredible. My only pro tip is that when you order a veg main it's a lot of one thing, whereas meat mains come with a veg. Next time I will order the veggie combo option to get more diversity. Normally I write longer reviews but in this case I think I will let the food photos speak for themselves.

I came during the afternoon time, so it wasn't terribly busy, so I had a chance to chat with Mo. He told me the back story and how they planned on opening more locations. I ordered the chicken rice bowl and it was made to perfection! Mo also put some chicken on the side with the Fck you cra sauce so I can taste it. It was soooo good, I'm glad the sauce wasn't heavy on the vinegar like store bought hot sauces. I originally chose the fck you cra sauce, but he said I should try the extra hot sauce first to taste the flavor. The toffee cake was so delicious. I couldn't stop eating it! I loved the coconut flakes on the top. The cake itself was so moist. The fries were perfectly crunchy, I ate them before taking a picture. Everything was decently priced with generous portions. We got the RB#2. Two sandwiches with fries. One medium and one Hot. The Hot is like medium compared to other places. The medium is just a normal chicken in my opinion. The size of the chicken is a bit smaller also in comparison and their fries are normal crinkle fries. I also did not like their slaws. It is cut so small that they falls out when eating the sandwich. However, they do have a good variety of sauces. There are limited seating and night we were there it was pretty full. It is probably a good place to go if you live around there and want to get a quick bite. Maybe I will go back and try the Halal Guys style #1.
