    Milk Tea

Delicious braised meats, flavorful fried chicken, and AUTHENTIC boba tea~ Here's what I got: Braised Pork Bento (Lu Rou Fan | 卤肉饭) Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken Momo's Milk Tea The Taiwanese chicken is definitely a must-have, such nice seasonings & texture. You get the savory spices mixed in with a nice crispy texture on the fried chicken, it's something I could eat everyday heheh. Milk Tea (I forgot to add boba) and their other drinks are spot-on as well, it's not overly sweet and definitely gives me that nostalgic Taiwanese flavor profile! Service was friendly and accommodating! The time I went there was only one gentleman working the register, bringing food out, and making drinks. All while keeping a positive attitude and efficient customer service, so props to him for sure.

There aren't many Taiwanese restaurants in the area, so when we heard of this one, we had to try it out! This mom and pop shop is serving up some great comfort food. The popcorn chicken was crispy and juicy and has a great seasoning. The bento boxes were also really tasty as if your mom made them. The shaved snow ice was alright, but made for a cool picture. Definitely try place out and their new location in Fairfax if you are craving Taiwanese food! The taiwanese popcorn chicken is the best! Juicy and fresh, highly recommend! The staff members are really friendly. I don't really like the sauce of their braised pork rice.

My daughter got wind of this Bento Box spot, and IMMEDIATELY told me about it!! So you must know that I took her to check it out. She let me review this time, so the following is what it's hittin on!! . Where I am: @momoscafe_dc . Location Reviewed: 4828 McAurthur Blvd., N.W. Washington D.C. . Their Taiwanese Spicy Pot (with Angus beef, rice, Bok Choy, a crab stick, mushrooms, scalloped tofu, egg dumplings, popcorn chicken, & a blood rice cake $21.50). STAMP!! Fabulous Taiwanese food! We found this hidden gem while visiting and loved the fried beef dumplings and braised beef bento box combo. You get a huge selection of delicious food. Also it comes with a special tea drink as well. We arrived before 6:30 because the staff suggested it would avoid the crowds. Parking is busy so we walked from a street a few blocks away.

What a hidden gem! I was in the area and looking for a place to grab lunch. Decided on Momo's Cafe based on all the fantastic reviews it has received and it did not disappoint. Parking was a bit hard to find, but luckily we found some street parking not too far away. Stepped into this small, cute cafe and we were warmly greeted by the staff. Placed our order and waited not more than 10 min before our food arrived at our table. We ordered the bento box and a side of popcorn chicken. All of it was delicious. The pickled cabbage was a great accompaniment. I also got a milk tea to wash it all down and I was fully satisfied with my entire meal.

This is what we got, far from what was advertised on social media.

We drove all the way from Virginia to have their tea pot dessert, however we were sadly disappointed. Besides not having the dry ice effect that they showed off on social Media, it is also a lot smaller than advertised. Furthermore, they used cheap take out plastic bowls instead of the cold- retaining metal bowls, which defeat the purpose of a refreshing, cool dessert. To add salt to the wound the server didn't seem happy to be there. We also tried the braised pork bento, braised beef bento, and the popcorn chicken bento... all of which were just mediocre. Sad , because we wanted to like this place, but it's not worth it going through Georgetown traffic. Ps. Parking sucks and the location is not accessible to everyone.

Truly a top 5 takeout experience for me. This was insane. Bento box was amazing every single thing was good, popcorn chicken was juicy and spicy , and the milk tea was a good pairing with everything else. Will be coming back.

not too pricey, quick, cute and yummy. but not the best service. its more like takeout with a place to eat inside we got the takoyaki and the pork broth for two, which was perfect portion size! spent around $17 per person.

A quaint little restaurant that gave mom and pop vibes. The service was good-attentive. Food was delicious. We got the combo meal that came with an appetizer, drink and a dish of choice. I feel that was the best deal. We got a bento and a Taiwanese hot pot. Next time we will probably try an iron plate because another customer got it and it smelled amazing! Parking was difficult though because it is DC and only street parking available.

Cute little cafe vibe. Food was p good, braised pork was super tasty and rice was cooked well. Cabbage was surprisingly tasty. Chicken was v crispy and flavorful but a tad on the dry side. Matcha milk tea (not pictured) was also rly good (milk foam delishus).

The only super safe ones are the fries and their fruit teas. The more substantial stuff includes eggs or dairy, but nothing entree-level filling as of now.

    Yes

There's usually street parking in the surrounding neighborhood and also a parking lot across the street for Safeway customers - grab groceries while you're there!

I ordered the Taiwanese style "Popcorn chicken" and once it was done, I sat down right away to take a bite. I took three bites and it was so flavorful and all of a sudden I realized when I looked at the chicken it wasn't cooked and raw. I then thought it was just me and took two more bites of the chicken and realized some of the chicken were raw and some were cooked. I was so sad inside. I let the owners know right away and they said would you like us to make you another one. I felt uncomfortable to eat it again and said no thank you I would just like my refund. They asked me if I wanted anything else and I said no thank you. I was just sad because I wanted to really enjoy what I ordered and my stomach felt sick after knowing I ate raw chicken bites when it ate into the chicken. Sadly it was very important for me to write this review because I did get sick from what I ate and have not felt good for the rest of today till the evening. Pleaseeeeee Check your chicken before you order and see if it was done.

On a mid-Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was about ¾ full. We started out with the Wonton Soup and the Spicy Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is just okay, but the Spicy Wonton Soup is wonderful and highly recommended. For another appetizer, we ordered the Scallion Pancake. It has a nice dense texture and I really liked it. It would've been even better if it came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered the pickled cabbage. It was good, though lacking seasoning. Our first entrée was ground pork in a delicious sauce accompanied by sprouts and thinly sliced cucumber (or was that zucchini?). Recommended! Our second entrée was a Pan Fried Beef Bun. The beef was flavorful but the bread was kinda dry. Our last entrée was the Beef Wraps. These were great! Who woulda thunk that beef and fresh carrots would go together so well?! Oh, the chili sauce in a jar on the table is extra tasty. At the end, before we got our check, we were given a plate with sliced cucumbers in a light tasty sesame chili sauce. Excellent! But the hot tea was an epic fail. It had no flavor whatsoever. Peeking inside the teapot, all I could see was a micro tiny tea bag floating or sort of sinking. One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.

It's usually packed with Asian folks who come for A&J's dim sum-style food. The food is described as "Northern style" Chinese, and it's definitely not Americanized. I've also enjoyed Ma La Er Si (sliced pigs ears with hot and spicy seasoning) and Pi Dan Dou Fu (tofu with Thousand Year Egg) - things I doubt will EVER show up on a menu in my hometown. And the dumplings: oh my. I think I've tried them all, and haven't found one yet I wouldn't order again. The only downside to A&J (besides it being a drive for me) is their cash-only policy. I have kept this place in the back of my mind, with fond memories, however, have not visited in some years due to multiple moves around the country. Recently, my friend was organizing a casual gathering for our friend group, and asked ChatGPT if there were any good recommendations for food in the area that was affordable and delicious, and A&J came up as a top choice. So I came back to A&J after almost 10 years, and the food was just as good as I remembered. The decor remained simple and unchanged, but this is very typical of Asian restaurants. The menu was large, and it's easy to order by circling items you want on the paper menu. We had a mix of noodle soup bowls (so many different flavors and styles) and appetizers, and everything we tried was delicious. Our bill came out to less than $25 per person with tip. I could imagine more pretentious Chinese restaurants downtown upcharging a lot more for lower quality Chinese food (Queen's English, for example). It was so good and affordable, that I actually ended up coming back the next day with a different friend. Overall, excellent experience, and I will be back again soon! One interesting tidbit, my coworker who grew up in the Midwest and only eats meat, potatoes, absolutely no vegetables, started going here for lunch and loves it. I think flour-based items (noodles, dumplings, buns) are really the star of the restaurant, and this can be enjoyed across different taste palates! I hope you will give this place a try.
