We order their large protein bowls that come with chicken and beef and a ton of vegetables. On uber eats they also have deals where you get free chili oil and crunch which I love to add to the bowls. "Horrible Samwich bydaway" Came here to eat from a reel I seen on instagram. Spent $50 WAS NOT WORTH IT. Got the oxtail pho. I got a half of an ox tail on the entire pho and it was more veggies the noodles. I literally had to search for my noodles as soon as I got the pho. The dish is literally a NOODLE soup. Really wanted to give this place a higher rating it was okay but I would say bad value for the money. Came in at 3pm on a Wednesday. Ambiance - modern Asian restaurant on the second floor. Tables were clean. Ice machine broken (more on that later) and napkin dispensers at the counter needed refilling. Service- good! Employees very friendly and food came out quickly, less than 10 minutes after ordering. Food- ordered the oxtail pho, 2 pc eggrolls, and a Vietnamese coffee. Oxtail pho - rich flavorful broth, oxtail meat already separated from bone and served boneless. Noodles slightly overcooked in my opinion. Added some Vietnamese spice on the side and it added a nice kick to the soup. Eggrolls - extremely disappointing, came out and very obviously had been sitting for a long time. Lukewarm on the inside and completely cold on the outside. Caused eggrolls to be very chewy. Would not recommend. Vietnamese coffee - strong and sweet brewed in house. They come pre bottled which is fine but the real killer was the ice machine was broken so had to drink the coffee out of the bottle. Would think they would chill the bottle more strongly with the ice machine broken but unfortunately mine started barely "cold" and just got worse from there. Grand total for my order plus 4$ tip and a 1$ credit card surcharge was 38$. If the food was perfect that would still be a bit steep for the meal but bearable. After trying and loving the 100G Protein Bowl at the Falls Church location (which is much smaller, btw), I was excited to perfect my order here. I got the bowl, skipping the bell peppers and onions, adding an egg, and getting double brisket + shrimp. Viet vinaigrette for me ALWAYS. This bowl was $16.66 on Uber Eats (with the extra egg). However, you can also order inside at the kiosks! Verdict? MF BOMB! The fatty brisket is my favorite part. It's flavorful but not overly seasoned and cooked well so that it's moist and tender, complementing everything else. The shrimp is good, too, so you add that to the other flavors and it's heavenly. My friend ordered everything on the self serve kiosk and then we sat down at a table. As we sat in the spacious dining area with lots of nice green plants and talked about life one of the staff came from behind the counter with a tray of food and confidently, loudly announced the customer name so he could find the food's owner: "Sorry For Your Loss! Sorry For Your Loss?" Five stars for service because I would not have blamed this kid for being very confused and very shy about an order named "Sorry For Your loss." My friend is unhinged and I had no idea he did that. As I burst out laughing at this insanity, other people in the restaurant looked confused and mortified lol. It had to be extremely weird to witness, but my friend knows me and he knew I would take it well. Oh yeah so on to the food: the pho was delicious and I was pretty happy with it although sadly I don't seem to see many options anymore for rare meat, only well done. When you walk in there's another restaurant at the bottom floor so you have to make sure you head upstairs. Everyone was busy working away, hustling. I placed an Uber Eats order for over $100, and one of the MAIN reasons I ordered from this restaurant was specifically for their Avocado Oil Chili Saté. I love it and have ordered it before. What I received today was completely different from the product I previously received. The new jar arrived unlabeled and appears to be mostly chili with very little visible oil. I still had my previous jar, clearly labeled "Avocado Oil Chili Saté" and "100% Pure Avocado Oil," so I was able to compare them side by side. The difference speaks for itself. I contacted Uber Eats, but I'm posting this here because this is not about getting money back. It's about receiving the product I actually ordered and expected. When someone spends over $100 and specifically chooses your restaurant because they enjoy a particular product, this is incredibly disappointing. I would simply like the restaurant to make this right and provide the Chili Saté as it is normally prepared and sold. UPDATE 09/10/2026 I have to come back and add this because the customer service I received after posting my original review deserves to be acknowledged. Someone from the restaurant personally called me after I reached out through their website about what happened with my Uber Eats order. I explained that I was really disappointed because I specifically wanted the chili satay--I love it so much that I would have happily purchased an entire jar had I known that was an option. When I mentioned that I was only in town for a short time and leaving tomorrow, he actually offered to personally drive all the way to Bowie to bring me a jar. I honestly did not expect that at all. I'll start with clarity by saying that I had a pretty solid takeout deal here; I had heard mixed things about RollPlay prior and was unsure of whether to try them, but was in the area and decided why not? Through their promotion, I ordered two bowls of chicken phô, three coconut matcha strawberry sago dessert jars, and a viet coffee, all for $24 after tax. A pretty solid deal, and I'll try not to let it influence my review too much. Starting out with the service; the staff were friendly but there was confusion with the promo redemption; thankfully, the manager explained that I had to order a bowl and the sago jars through Uber Eats before I redeemed the full promo in person. The promo redemption was a bit convoluted, but I'm glad the management was helpful and apologetic. Now the food; like what I heard prior, mixed: Chicken Phô: So-so. I could tell the individual ingredients were better quality than most; the pasture-raised chicken was savory and well-seasoned, the veggies still fresh, and the noodles a pleasant springy texture. The broth, on the other hand, was quite bland. It didn't taste artificial or anything, just somewhat watered down and lacking in richness and spices. They also served the broth on the side for pouring over the other components (for takeaway), which meant that they didn't really have time to steep and infuse the broth. So points for fresher, more organic base ingredients, but overall execution as a dish was a bit lacking; the entire phô was still decent, just not outstanding. Viet Coffee: Strong. Quite strong. As it should be with traditional viet coffee. And yet also sweet and creamy which made it quite balanced, although I still wouldn't recommend drinking it in the later afternoon as I did, unless you loathe the idea of sleep, haha! Coconut Matcha Strawberry Sago: Also pretty solid; not overly sweet, with a delightful mix of textures from the combination of strawberry compote, coconut jelly, and creamy coconut sago. The mild, floral bitterness of the green tea is a good foil for the sweeter parts as well. Will probably have the other jars for breakfast in the coming days. Overall, I see the vision that RollPlay and its sister location PhoPlay (I do love a good innuendo, lol!) are trying to pull off with healthier, less processed ingredients and certainly respect it, but a few important things do fall flat. Especially without the promotion, I can see the pricing being a bit exorbitant for the somewhat-lacking quality. I also get the appeal of them being open 24/7, but that does lead me to believe that they may be incentivized to lean into convenience over quality, especially if a portion of your clientele are drunk Rosslyn hipsters at 2:30am who aren't paying too much attention to flavor. The broth should be more flavorful and lively, and shouldn't be served on the side so that the protein and veggies can infuse better. Also, some consistency on promos would be appreciated; using a different service for the promo and the ordering makes things overly complicated. All-in-all, there's at least still potential here, assuming the management takes my advice. read more

I have yet to find a good Pho place in Arlington (my favorite Pho place is in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of DC). I ordered on UberEats for context because Roll Play has a promo on UberEats where you can BOGO on select items (Pho included). I'm sorry to say I was disappointed and don't feel inclined to go back. The good: I like that this place is 24/7 -- Arlington is a city where most places tend to close on or before midnight unless it's a bar. Especially if you're not in Claredon. So Rosslyn, of all neighborhoods, having a place open 24/7 is a nice touch. I think the menu is pretty expansive and interesting compared to the menus at other Pho places I've been. I like that they have a BOGO on free items (including Pho). The Bad: Yet the food, unfortunately, wasn't my cup of tea. I ordered the chicken pho because chicken is my favorite protein, and with the right broth and seasoning, it's hard to mess up. But my chicken was bland, and the broth that it came with wasn't very good. The chicken pho does not come in a chicken-based broth (it comes in an oxtail-based broth). A chicken pho in a beef-based broth does not taste good, especially when the broth and chicken are underseasoned. I also did not feel like I got enough noodles and I don't like the idea that I need to order extra to feel like I got a proper portion. I wanted to like this place, but I just wasn't impressed. This place doesn't feel like a normal restaurant, but a take-out place with open seats to sit if you know what I mean. You order at a kiosk or at the counter, and all your food comes in to-go containers. This is on the second floor of the building, the same as AN Southeast Asian place (on the first floor). You take the stairs on the right to come up here. The interior designs in this building remind me of Bali. It's pretty nice, and the second floor especially has plenty of seats and nice views. You can get almost all the Vietnamese food you can think of. Bahn mi, pho, and spring rolls are all on the menu. I'm not a fan of to-go containers for pho. I saw some people having pho in paper containers, and it felt wrong. I got the bahn mi. I have to say the ingredients and the quality of food are 5/5. The flavor or the way the ingredients were combined in the bahn mi I got wasn't quite hitting the spot. It wasn't the best I've had, so I'm giving it 4/5. The wait was a little long for a pickup place, even when it wasn't crowded at all. The major downside to this place for me is being located in the same building as AN Southeast Asian downstairs. I had no time to meal prep and was in a rush to get to work. An hour before my lunch break, I decided to uber eats Roll Play. I've always had a good experience with their food and their ability to deliver my food on time so I knew they would be reliable. I ordered their 3 count rolls as it was 1 buy set, get another set free. My total ended up around $40 for 6 spring rolls with various meats. A bit pricey but enough food for 2 meals. My only complaint would be the quality of their wrap. 2 of the 6 rolls actually came torn. They also offer a complimentary set of chilli flakes and chilli oil when you order delivery. I'm a huge fan of their chilli flakes and I believe it's made in house. My Honey & I wanted some Pho. I saw advertisements for Roll Play and thought that it we'd try it out. We used the kiosk to order our food. The process was simple! We ordered the shrimp pho with spicy oxtail broth, with all the trimmings. We ordered 4 springrolls as well. My Honey added chicken to his shrimp pho and I added salmon to mine. We sat down and waited for one of their staff members to bring us our food. (The wait was around 5 minutes!) The inside is set up with picnic benches and stools. The decor is basic and the vibe is literally eat & roll out! The broth was hot and flavorful! The shrimp were plentiful and the salmon was a game changer! I love, love, love this place! The first time I tried their dishes, it was back in November/December 2024 when a friend was visiting, and we were doing touristy Washington, D.C. things. You order through the kiosk, at the counter or at a table of your choosing using the QR code for the Toast app at the tables. They bring out the food to you either way. My friend and I chose the tiered seats at the back of the second floor where they have floor cushions. The decor is very calming and has a garden-like feel with all the hanging plants and lanterns. It's cutesy. Every time I've gone, they haven't been too busy with dine ins, but always had a steady stream of takeaways and mobile orders. My friend had the chicken pho, and I had the Saigon rice bowl. She also had the hibiscus tea, I think, and I just opted for a regular fountain drink. She enjoyed her chicken pho with the only request of more jalapeños. My Saigon rice bowl was perfect for me. I devoured it, but actually had a few more bites of the protein and the veggies! The deals from ordering delivery were so tempting, almost too tempting so we just had to see what it was. It was such a delight! The pho portions were enough for 2, let alone the bogo deal, we were set with good pho! The flavors are clean and the broth is enriched with pho spices and with good clarity. The bowls are dressed with the proper fixings. The popcorn chicken could have used more of a 5-spice flavor similar to their pho, but it was crispy and well made with the potato flour. However they were missing the Thai basil as mentioned in the name. They offer a lot of what we expect out of a Vietnamese restaurant, but its just so good and warming. Situated in a sleek building with floor-to-ceiling windows and colorful floral murals adorning the walls, you enter and walk up a flight of stairs to the counter where you can order. There's plenty of seating around a corner, and once you order, you can sit wherever you'd like: the layout of the space is a bit odd for now, as it seems they are doing some construction. At around 7pm on a Friday night, the space was around 3/4 full, but not too noisy at all. The menu is great in that it offers a range of Vietnamese fare that's highly customizable: you can choose from some pre-set specials like their Spicy Oxtail Pho or Seasonal Salmon Rice Bowl, or create your own bowl/soup/salad/sandwich from scratch. While this isn't necessarily the most authentic place, I really did appreciate how I was able to tailor my order exactly to my preferences. I ordered their Spicy Oxtail Pho with Chicken ($12.50 for base pho, +$0.99 for spicy oxtail flavoring, +$1.49 for chicken) and Low-Carb Noodles (extra $2.99), and it came out in less than ten minutes! Just as a side note: they are a partner of the inKind/noshd apps, but if you'd like to use those to pay, you have to order directly through the app. The pho itself was surprisingly good, coming from a frequent diner of Pho 75 (my barometer for authentic, cheap pho). The broth itself really did taste of the richness of oxtail, and the spice was a perfect level to be just hot enough to feel it without being overly spicy and unpalatable to most people. The chicken itself was generously portioned: they say it's a quarter pound of chicken thigh, but I think they gave me more! It's quite well-seasoned, tender, and juicy. Lastly, the low-carb noodles were surprisingly good at replicating the texture of real rice noodles: they were a bit bouncier than the real thing, but I didn't mind at all (I love a good QQ texture!). One thing I didn't love was that the pho came in a cardboard bowl, so it went cold fairly quickly. Overall, Happy Eatery is a fun modern take on Vietnamese cuisine, and while it's a bit pricier than your average pho place, I think you're paying more for the ambiance, customizability, and quality of ingredients. This time around I tried the new Beef Brisket Pho and let me tell you, the brisket alone makes it well worth it. Fatty cut and generous helping, each bite of the pho surrounded by the trademark oxtail broth and other fixings made forget the frigid weather outside. I unfortunately had to take this to go because of work, but the restaurant has such a cute seating area with a nice window. Also did you know, the happy eatery has a deal if you order on uber eats to buy one get one free? I cannot imagine a better deal when we are talking about this level of flavor. read more

Swanky spot w/ a unique take on viet cuisine. I like their ambiance and seating area that overlooks the street that leads into Georgetown. Not a fan of their bun thit nuong (rice noodles w beef). Got it with peanut sauce instead of the usual fish sauce and it was dry and hard to swallow... Noodles were also overcooked and soggy. Drinks are alright. Maybe I'll give it another shot to try something else, but their pho was also like $20. Pricey relative to a Californian but I guess that's the norm here. read more
