Yup! Thank you Roll play for being open late and serving up some good pho. I'm new to VA. This is my first time having pho since being here. So glad it was this place. I don't put hoisin sauce or sriracha because I like to taste the aromatics and flavor what it is. ANAZING! Service was fast, parking sucks. Seating is decent. Cool music and great staff. I got the combination pho and some egg rolls. Proved fair and the great quality meat in my bowl. I'll definitely be coming back. Keep up the good work guys.
I recommended this spot to a friend for dinner ! I always get the beef brisket pho - and it's 48 hours. Definitely will come back again for the vibes and the food
First and foremost, shout out to Andre! He was so kind and helpful when I visited and even though he and his team were moving quickly and efficiently getting orders together, he still went out of his way to make sure I had what I needed. APPRECIATED! This was my first time rolling in (get it?) to pick up an order. In the past, I've ordered online and always been allured by the Uber Eats freebies and offerings. After trying and loving the 100G Protein Bowl at the Falls Church location (which is much smaller, btw), I was excited to perfect my order here. I got the bowl, skipping the bell peppers and onions, adding an egg, and getting double brisket + shrimp. Viet vinaigrette for me ALWAYS. This bowl was $16.66 on Uber Eats (with the extra egg). However, you can also order inside at the kiosks! Verdict? MF BOMB! The fatty brisket is my favorite part. It's flavorful but not overly seasoned and cooked well so that it's moist and tender, complementing everything else. The shrimp is good, too, so you add that to the other flavors and it's heavenly. Vibe inside: very chill - giving fast casual. The team is very much a well-oiled, assembly line type of machine, but they're getting orders out quickly! I also tried the strawberry matcha dessert jars this time around and baybeeeeee. I'm obsessed. They're so good. Can't wait to come back and their hours are amazing!
I love this place. Great: * right next to Rosslyn metro * Modern decoration * Delicious food, Pho broth is great Service is very friendly. My only gripe is it's $19 for a Pho. Pho at Eden center will run about $17 now, so I get it. Pho 75 nearby is $12.50, but I found it oily. I think the product here is better. If this was $15, line would be out the door.
When you experience tragedy, sometimes people offer to buy you dinner. And when you're friend is a famous performance artist, sometimes he does zany stuff. This review is a story about those two worlds colliding. I met my friend outside the Rosslyn location and we both ordered pho (vegan tofu for him, brisket+flank for me) and popcorn chicken. My friend ordered everything on the self serve kiosk and then we sat down at a table. As we sat in the spacious dining area with lots of nice green plants and talked about life one of the staff came from behind the counter with a tray of food and confidently, loudly announced the customer name so he could find the food's owner: "Sorry For Your Loss! Sorry For Your Loss?" Five stars for service because I would not have blamed this kid for being very confused and very shy about an order named "Sorry For Your loss." My friend is unhinged and I had no idea he did that. As I burst out laughing at this insanity, other people in the restaurant looked confused and mortified lol. It had to be extremely weird to witness, but my friend knows me and he knew I would take it well. Oh yeah so on to the food: the pho was delicious and I was pretty happy with it although sadly I don't seem to see many options anymore for rare meat, only well done. The nuggets were crispy and pretty good as well but I have no idea why I ordered that on top of a huge bowl of soup. My friend confirms his vegan pho was awesome as well. I live close to two other pho restaurants but I will definitely "Roll" this place into my rotation. On a night where icey wind bit at my face and grief oppressed my heart, Roll Play's pho was a warm and delicious refuge. I look forward to returning with a lighter heart to try their pho tacos and banh mi!
We needed to refuel after a 3 mile walk and this place was in my Yelp collection. Lucky for us we parked nearby. When you walk in there's another restaurant at the bottom floor so you have to make sure you head upstairs. Everyone was busy working away, hustling. We placed our order on the kiosk, it was easy peasy. We got our food pretty fast, probably within 10 min if not less! Overall, a very delicious and satisfying meal. The only item we did not like was the roll. Aside from that, everything was banging--like oxtail pho?! DELICIOUS! Highly recommend, we plan to make this a repeat visit when we're in the area.
The best mama fried ever I ordered so many times love it ! I never been to the place but im sure one day I will I ordered take out all the packages they're doing with care. Bag , bag of chopsticks, bowl paper ....... Hope they doing very well
Some of the best pho around! Love the veggie broth base - though I hear good things on the oxtail as well. The rolls are another favorite, especially the shrimp ones. Ordering online and in person are both very easy (and sign up for their rewards to earn $ off on future order). Their service is quick even during the lunch rush. I've only gotten food for takeaway, but they have some seating available. From the moment you open the door, you're presented with the aromas of Vietnamese cooking - comfort and deliciousness.
I'll start with clarity by saying that I had a pretty solid takeout deal here; I had heard mixed things about RollPlay prior and was unsure of whether to try them, but was in the area and decided why not? Through their promotion, I ordered two bowls of chicken phô, three coconut matcha strawberry sago dessert jars, and a viet coffee, all for $24 after tax. A pretty solid deal, and I'll try not to let it influence my review too much. Starting out with the service; the staff were friendly but there was confusion with the promo redemption; thankfully, the manager explained that I had to order a bowl and the sago jars through Uber Eats before I redeemed the full promo in person. The promo redemption was a bit convoluted, but I'm glad the management was helpful and apologetic. Now the food; like what I heard prior, mixed: Chicken Phô: So-so. I could tell the individual ingredients were better quality than most; the pasture-raised chicken was savory and well-seasoned, the veggies still fresh, and the noodles a pleasant springy texture. The broth, on the other hand, was quite bland. It didn't taste artificial or anything, just somewhat watered down and lacking in richness and spices. They also served the broth on the side for pouring over the other components (for takeaway), which meant that they didn't really have time to steep and infuse the broth. So points for fresher, more organic base ingredients, but overall execution as a dish was a bit lacking; the entire phô was still decent, just not outstanding. Viet Coffee: Strong. Quite strong. As it should be with traditional viet coffee. And yet also sweet and creamy which made it quite balanced, although I still wouldn't recommend drinking it in the later afternoon as I did, unless you loathe the idea of sleep, haha! Coconut Matcha Strawberry Sago: Also pretty solid; not overly sweet, with a delightful mix of textures from the combination of strawberry compote, coconut jelly, and creamy coconut sago. The mild, floral bitterness of the green tea is a good foil for the sweeter parts as well. Will probably have the other jars for breakfast in the coming days. Overall, I see the vision that RollPlay and its sister location PhoPlay (I do love a good innuendo, lol!) are trying to pull off with healthier, less processed ingredients and certainly respect it, but a few important things do fall flat. Especially without the promotion, I can see the pricing being a bit exorbitant for the somewhat-lacking quality. I also get the appeal of them being open 24/7, but that does lead me to believe that they may be incentivized to lean into convenience over quality, especially if a portion of your clientele are drunk Rosslyn hipsters at 2:30am who aren't paying too much attention to flavor. The broth should be more flavorful and lively, and shouldn't be served on the side so that the protein and veggies can infuse better. Also, some consistency on promos would be appreciated; using a different service for the promo and the ordering makes things overly complicated. All-in-all, there's at least still potential here, assuming the management takes my advice.
This place doesn't feel like a normal restaurant, but a take-out place with open seats to sit if you know what I mean. You order at a kiosk or at the counter, and all your food comes in to-go containers. This is on the second floor of the building, the same as AN Southeast Asian place (on the first floor). You take the stairs on the right to come up here. The interior designs in this building remind me of Bali. It's pretty nice, and the second floor especially has plenty of seats and nice views. You can get almost all the Vietnamese food you can think of. Bahn mi, pho, and spring rolls are all on the menu. I'm not a fan of to-go containers for pho. I saw some people having pho in paper containers, and it felt wrong. I got the bahn mi. I have to say the ingredients and the quality of food are 5/5. The flavor or the way the ingredients were combined in the bahn mi I got wasn't quite hitting the spot. It wasn't the best I've had, so I'm giving it 4/5. The wait was a little long for a pickup place, even when it wasn't crowded at all. The major downside to this place for me is being located in the same building as AN Southeast Asian downstairs. I cannot personally pick Roll Play over AN bowls unless I'm getting both.
DO NOT COME HERE!!! I ordered the banh mi and the popcorn chicken. I found TWO hairs in the food and was immediately disgusted. The banh mi bread itself was very underwhelming and the oxtail was really dry. the egg also was flimsy and didn't find not ONE but TWO hairs in the food. utterly disgusted and will never be returning to this place ever again. popcorn chicken was not flavorful at all and was very dull tasting
I had no time to meal prep and was in a rush to get to work. An hour before my lunch break, I decided to uber eats Roll Play. I've always had a good experience with their food and their ability to deliver my food on time so I knew they would be reliable. I ordered their 3 count rolls as it was 1 buy set, get another set free. My total ended up around $40 for 6 spring rolls with various meats. A bit pricey but enough food for 2 meals. My only complaint would be the quality of their wrap. 2 of the 6 rolls actually came torn. They also offer a complimentary set of chilli flakes and chilli oil when you order delivery. I'm a huge fan of their chilli flakes and I believe it's made in house. Surprisingly, I've never actually physically gone to their restaurant, it's always been uber eats, but I'm pretty happy with everything and I don't think I'd go anywhere else for Vietnamese food.

Power Pho and avocado oil spring rolls tonight. Had spicy oxtail last night... and had to come back. Hearty broth with fresh toppings. So delish and perfect after hotel workout at the Le Meridien. Hip music here with modern decor and super friendly staffers and service. Open until 1AM... for the Pacific TZ travelers, this is a dream come true. read more

Food is amazing, I've only used the takeout option on InKind but both times I've had the absolute BEST experience ever with these guys. I would highly recommend the French Dip with Oxtail add on and the Mom's Special Fried Rice!! They're super friendly and the service is extremely quick! read more
As a Pho lover, I'd been eyeing The Happy Eatery for quite some time now. Finally got the chance to pop in on a Wednesday afternoon. I ordered the Spicy Oxtail Pho and was very excited to dig in. However, the broth and pieces of meat were mediocre. Not too much flavor and not particularly spicy to my taste buds. To drink, I got the Vietnamese cold brew with matcha cold foam, which sounded great in theory. However, the coffee was WAYY too bitter - I prefer my coffee on the stronger side, but this was not enjoyable at all. For this bowl + cold brew coming out to nearly $20, I did not think it was worth the cost. However, the staff was very kind and let me exchange my cold brew for a classic Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The ambiance is a beautiful high rise - one that never gets old! I would come back to Happy Eatery to see if the pho has improved, but this would not be my first choice for a good bowl of pho while in Rosslyn/DC. read more

Feb 2020 we stayed nearby as my son was obsessed with Nando's at the time. To change it up, we found this place - get your boba tea on the first floor but get your pho upstairs. It was delicious so much so that we visited more than once on our short visit. The vibe just made it such a cool place to chill and grab a bite of yummy food. Fast forward to last Wednesday, after touring nearby colleges---this place was on our need to visit list. The first floor changed but the upstairs pho restaurant was even better than 5 years ago. Their menu expanded but the flavors were even richer, generous portions and scallion toppings, and to die for chili oil! We had some leftovers in a doggy bag and are still relishing our last bits of your flavorful chili oil( do you sell this bottled? Can you ship to nyc?). After 5 years of waiting to revisit, we were not at all disappointed and wished we stopped by after the SEVENTEEN concert to grab some more to go! The staff were really friendly and we're already planning our return read more
Roll Play is a go to place for takeout and they have a fun variety of options. I got the chicken thighs noodle salad with the spicy peanut sauce, and it was delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked, but I wish there was a little more sauce since this dish doesn't come with broth. The peanut sauce had a great kick, but I could've used a bit more to really tie everything together. I ordered through Uber Eats and took advantage of their BOGO deal--such a great way to try more food without breaking the bank. The pick-up was quick, too, so I didn't have to wait long for my order. I also got free jars of their chili sauce and fried garlic, which were perfect additions to the dish. Both have so much flavor and definitely elevate the meal. I'll definitely be coming back to Roll Play for more tasty bowls! read more

They had a buy one get one on uber eats for breakfast. I for the breakfast platter. It was decent. Food was a little bland. Not terrible but not great. Service was okay. Food was packed nicely. Can't speak for the ambiance. I'd order from here again maybe but I'd get something else. read more

It was about a week or so ago that I have ordered a shrimp Pho bowl and egg rolls!! When I say delicious I say delicious. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since then I will definitely order again. read more
This place has amazing food and spectacular deals! My friend and I ordered here twice and the first time we loved the food so much we forgot to take pictures! Here's the run down: Thai basil chicken: YUM Veggie Pho with spicy broth: Yummy and very plentiful! Nice portion of broth, noodles and tofu. There were lot of white onions when we first ordered, so we omitted them the second time. Veggie spring rolls: delicious! Good crunch with delicious sauces. My friend and I loved the Sriracha aïoli! If you order off of Uber there are a lot of buy one get one free options for various items. And if you order during happy hour, you'll save money too. :)Definitely a win win! I'll be ordering from here again!! I hope to go to the restaurant too! read more

I was really looking forward to trying The Happy Eatery's pho. Unfortunately, the whole experience was a bit disappointing. To start, the restaurant was dirty, the wait time felt like forever and they weren't even busy. We ordered the beef and chicken pho. The broth was too sweet for our liking, couldn't be fixed with Sriracha sauce. The beef was tasteless, and had a weird texture. The chicken was over seasoned, not like traditional white meat chicken breast. Sadly, we will not be returning. read more

A very nice POS (point of sale) system and the place is located right on the corner. I walked the long way around and it was still easy to find. I got there after the normal lunch rush but the atmosphere felt relaxed and there were only 2 people in front of me. There were quite a few pickup orders stacking up on the counter so, I knew my order would not take very long. The vegetarian egg rolls with vinaigrette' sauce was a nice compliment with the lemongrass chicken bahn mi sandwich! read more

Ordered delivery, thank you UberEats, from this location and my pho arrived piping hot. The veggies and herbs were super fresh and the noodles were bountiful. I love their oxtail broth, especially when I'm under the weather. Service is always top notch regardless of the RP location. I haven't had the opportunity to visit the brick and mortar but online pictures present a beautiful decor with plenty of seating. read more

Was in town for an event and this was the closest place that wasn't a fast food joint. They're renovating but the upstairs is pretty nice considering. Also- tho they have counter service, if you're dining in, you can just go to the table and scan the QR code to order. I ordered at the kiosk not knowing and they still brought the food out to me. Great service. I got a signature bowl with a mix of braised oxtail and lemongrass chicken. It was delicious. Will def be back! read more

Extremely nice establishment, although pricey in my personal opinion. The banh mi tasted good, but I personally found it too soggy. I had my banh mi with braised oxtail meat. I also had the Vietnamese coffee, which was very good, but too small in my opinion. Otherwise, the service and the establishment itself was great. read more
First of all, the Spicy Oxtail Pho for the pho was sooo good. Plenty of meat and toppings. And their Strawberry Matcha Daigona was def up there with my most memorable teas I've had. Food here is great and you won't be disappointed. But... On a casual Saturday noon, place was empty and all I could think about was how run down this place looked and felt. See my pictures from how the place is at lunchtime on a Saturday. Floors were cracked, bathroom was grimy, condiments were empty on more than a couple tables, trash was full. Emphasis on the place being empty, yet the front staff was there for the hour my family were there and didn't empty the bin. Regardless of how much I enjoy their food, unless I see recent reviews of how their interior cleanliness improved, I don't recommend returning. Love their pho, but I'd rather go to a numbered-Pho ol-school spot just for the ambiance. read more

We got here at late night and order a beef pho. The food has been going downhill a lot since the last few times we have been here. This may be the one last time we are coming here. The beef tastes like pork and tough like plastic. The broth is like water with no flavor and they charge you $15. Who wants pho with plastic like pork in warm water? read more
So disappointed to have to leave this review. We have been ordering take out weekly from this restaurant since their opening. I attended the yelp elite opening reception back in 2020 and always loved their food. It's been a few months now that there is a lack of consistency in the flavors, ingredients, portion sizes etc. We usually order to go and there is always an ingredient missing, or the same dish tastes different and way off from the last time, or the portions vary significantly from one week to the other. Today I just had it. my bowl had a spoiled avocado, there were multiple pieces of avocado skin in my food, the chicken was slimey tasting and smelling, and the "garlic" rice tasted nothing like garlic (as opposed to a month ago when I ordered), so I'm sure it wasn't even garlic rice. Needless to say the food went in the trash and I'm hoping I don't get sick from the piece of chicken I ate. There is certainly no quality control and no care to offer good food anymore. I am very disappointed and have made the decision to stop patronizing this place. read more

I wouldn't feed this mystery meat garbage to my dog. And yes, I'm writing this in a hunger fueled rage. Super quick Uber eats delivery of an inedible meal. I'm not sure what meat this is but it's not any type of chicken that should be served at a restaurant. Not only does it look disgusting, it doesn't taste much better. Portion is minuscule for what you expect from traditional pho, but I guess the price is a bit cheaper than other places. The spring rolls weren't much better. The best part of the order (I refuse to call this a meal) was the sweet and spicy sauce that probably came out of a jar. Also, I let the noodles soak for about half hour... tried them again. Still the same consistency and texture as rubber. read more
I came here for a lunar new year event and the food hall was so spacious with many types of seating. They had high tops, tables, intimate tables in the back, cozy stairs, perfect for any gathering! The food was served buffet style but was SO good! My top favorite was the fried rice, cooked to perfection, wok style! The banh mi was good too! It was heavily stuffed with meat and eggs, so YUMMY! The eggrolls were heavy with taro to my liking and reminded me of my mom's home cooking! I loved how there were to go containers by the utensils too! It's nice to have it readily available for customers to take food home. I liked the kiosks to order food which provided a wide variety of food. I'd say the only downside was the upstairs seating that overlooked construction, but still had a good view of the sunset :) It was a nice spot with good food and vibes! read more
I ordered the Garden Bowl w/Glazed Tofu and Vietnamese Vinaigrette which features Vietnamese fish sauce. It is actually $2 cheaper if you forgo the tofu. I chose to have my garden bowl include rice for no charge. As a result of my vegetable, protein, and rice choices, this was a very filling and tasty meal! Especially considering the price for this area. The only thing I wish they did was to fully cut and separate the sautéed onion. I would like to eat some with every bite in stead of in chunks. This place is still a solid lunch spot if you are in the area. Food preparation is quick too with pick-up on the bottom floor counter. Make sure to join their rewards program! read more

A lot of show for mediocre pho. Especially in a place like NOVA with many other superior, less trendy pho places, the soup here was mediocre at best. Plus, my spring rolls were burnt to a crisp. Maybe I just caught them on an off day. read more
