Pork dumpling, comes in 6 but we already ate two.

This place reminds me of the 2D cafe in Japan. The place looks awesome with 2D effect. It is a self service shop so you come in and order at the kiosk. The server and host are friendly and the food comes out immediately. I went with a friend and ordered the Tapinyaki, Pork Dumpling and Pork with Rice. The serving size is huge so keep that in mind when you order. Food is awesome. The restaurant is across from Tenleytown metro stop. Highly reco

2D Noodles is a newish fast casual noodle place right off the Tenleytown Metro. The good: -- Interesting interior: The 2D design is cute, and the large chandelier on the ceiling is a nice touch. Ordering at the kiosk is pretty straightforward, and there's a staff member right there if you need help. -- The pho is quite delicious and very very generously portioned. Be prepared to take leftovers home. I had kept my expectations in check due to the lackluster yelp reviews but to my pleasant surprise the Pho is pretty yummy. The broth is a tad too salty at first but adding the lime juice brings it to a perfect balance. -- Staff is helpful and friendly. -- kudos for serving the noodle soups in proper ceramic bowls, not plastic. The Not-so-good: - Cleanliness: The place is quite new but isn't as well kept as it should be. There's visible dirt and debris on the floor especially along the walls. Also, as soon as I sit down, I noticed a faint unpleasant smell, the table smells like dirty rags. It had probably been wiped down with a rags that hasn't been rinsed in a while. - the bean sprouts plate that comes with the Pho has a puddle of water sitting at the bottom of the plate, which doesn't feel sanitary. Please dry the sprouts properly before serving. Hopefully these issues will be addressed. Overall, a very welcome addition to the neighborhood.

The hand stretched noodles are made here fresh and are super thick, long, chewy, meaty and delicious. I absolutely loved them. The noodles do not contain eggs. I got my laghman with tofu and vegetables and it had some wood ear mushrooms. I ordered it at the highest spice level and it was delicious. There was some broth/ sauce and it almost reminded me of a combo of a Chinese sauce and a NM strong red Chilli. It was quite interesting. The decor here was nice too and I really liked their chilli crisp. I had to repeat this spot to try more and tried the Korma chop noodles (I had to get something with those same amazing hand pulled noodles again!). I really loved it. I ordered it at the highest spice level as well. These noodles are best eaten fresh and not as leftovers. I hope to try more in the future in one of their locations (sounds like the ones in CA with same name have different ownership)! My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

They serve coffee during the day where I assume they have their pastries. Highlight was the korma chop - you definitely should specify your spice level. Medium was perfect and not too overpowering. The sauce that this comes with is so yummy. Wasn't a fan of the fried eggplant - it was on the sweeter side and the peppers weren't sautéed long enough. Service was friendly, but it did take a bit to get our check (you can just walk up to the counter to close out). Would definitely come back!

I made RSVP for this Korean restaurant on a Sunday evening...and it was bustling!…read more Despite RSVP for the main room, we got seated in an extended part of the room (more like an indoor patio?)...so frankly, the ambiance was a bit off for me. So was the overhead music. Guess I expected a more authentic Korean experience, but the place was more or less an Americanized Korean bistro. Still, the foods seemed authentic! We ordered a few things to share... Mandu, Dolsot Bibimbap, and this Ssam Board. For drinks, my husband got some beer (?), and I got this fruity cocktail (??). First, the positives! The Mandu was really, really good...and quite meaty! The Dolsot Bibimbap was good in that it came with a generous load of fresh veggies. Now the problems. The Bulgogi in the Dolsot Bibimbap was problematic. It was a bit too fatty...and too chunky...and just hard to eat. It was also a bit bland! They should have cut it up a bit...or provided us with proper cutlery, like a fork and a knife! This is a pet peeve of mine...but nowadays, hardly any restaurant gives you the full set of cutlery. Just fork, or just chopsticks!! Then the Ssam Board. While it looked luscious, I personally had a problem with the meat. While I love Galbi, cuts of Galbi was all-out rare. The waiter didn't even ask for our preference, by the way. If I knew it'd be prepared that red, I would have ordered something else. If it was medium-rare, for instance, I might have liked this dish. My husband prefers a much more rare cut of meat than me, yet even he thought this was too red. Also, I expected something more than raddish for sides. Not sure if this "Board" was worth $42. We also tried this Black Sesame Ice Cream dessert. I loved the flavor...but nothing too special. Service was a bit off as well. While friendly at our table, our waiter wasn't too attentive...especially in the beginning. If he stopped by our table earlier, I might have gotten them to bring back the Ssam Board to cook the meat a bit more. Frankly, I was underwhelmed with the foods, the presentation, even the service. Overall, there were just too many things amiss (or just underwhelming??)...so much so that I doubt I'll pick this place again.

It's gorgeous. The seats are well arranged, close but angled and not overly intimate. We ordered the tuna & salmon tartar, ceviche, a pair of salmon belly tacos, an eel roll, two cocktails, and they gifted us a celebratory small sorbet dessert. Every moment felt perfectly curated and thoughtful. Every member of the staff was kind, swift, and knowledgeable. The prices are high and the portions are small, so be warned. Definitely will feel a bit of sticker shock but it's excellent for a celebration. Above all, the tartar was a crowd favorite and we cannot wait to return!

Shōtō is one of DC's most striking Japanese dining experiences, equal parts upscale restaurant and high‑energy nightlife spot. The moment you walk in, you're hit with dramatic lighting, a sleek volcanic‑stone aesthetic, and a buzzy crowd that's clearly here to make a night of it. If you're looking for quiet, this isn't your place; if you're looking for a vibe, you've found it. The food is genuinely impressive. The robata‑grilled dishes are the stars, especially the short rib with chili‑soy glaze and the wagyu cuts that arrive perfectly caramelized. Sushi is clean, fresh, and beautifully presented; the hamachi and tacos are crowd favorites for a reason. The omakase is high‑quality, though ordering à la carte gives you more freedom to explore the menu's highlights. Don't skip the lobster tempura or the black cod gyoza. These are two of my absolute favorites! Service is polished and knowledgeable, though it can be a bit inconsistent on busy nights. The dress code is enforced, so come prepared...this is not a sneakers‑and‑hoodie kind of spot. Glam up! Prices are undeniably steep, and portions lean small, but the overall experience, food, atmosphere, and presentation, makes it feel like a worthwhile splurge for celebrations, date nights, or anyone who enjoys a lively, modern Japanese dining scene. If you want a quiet, traditional meal, look elsewhere. If you want great food wrapped in a high‑energy, beautifully designed setting, Shōtō delivers. Yes to this place! Over and Over AGAIN!
