Finally checked out this location and it was super cute! I grabbed my usual classic bubble tea, and my mom tried their mushroom chai - she said it tasted like a normal chai but less sweet which is exactly what she was looking for

Came for lunch today with a couple of friends. Place is comfortable and well lit. Also has outdoor seating. One person got a boba tea, which they said was very good. My bento box (Korean brisket) was delicious. Chunks of sweet potato, broccoli, a nice portion of brisket and a scoop of rice. Comes with a small amount of schiracha, which is nice - the brisket was good by itself and also with the schiracha. Delicious and plenty to eat. Oh, I also got a bowl of lentil soup, which was flavorful and hearty and worth the $6. One friend got the chicken curry, which had a good, and not overpowering spiciness. The other got the Vegan Plum Ochazuke (Japanese rice and tea soup), which I was told was delicious. But the warning on this dish is to make sure you control how you introduce the wasabi, because it's potent and a little goes a long way - don't just throw the whole portion into the soup at the beginning! They have a nice selection of drinks and teas, but I stuck with water. The water is self-serve from a large container of iced water in the front. The water glasses are a bit small for me; I had to go up for a few refills. But it's a small item simply to note it for you. The one disappointment with our lunch is not the food or the atmosphere or the Staff. It's that the place is simply too loud when it is crowded. When we got there at noon, it was quiet and inviting, but by 12:30 pm it was difficult to have a conversation. We all said that as we were getting up to leave from our delicious lunch. The loud atmosphere may stop us from coming back during the busy lunch hours.

PSA they have vegan scones! I was running around trying to find baked goods that were vegan, and Teaism was the only one nearby that had any!! 2 ginger vegan scones for $5.50!

I love love love this place! They have a great selection of teas and the tastiest vegan burger! The service is always great and fairly quick, considering it is a small cafe with a large menu. I recommend the lavender ginger limeade, the ginger scones and the vegan burger. 10/10 delicious and satisfying. I don't believe they have wifi, but early mornings and later afternoons are fairly quiet and it is a cute place to sit, eat and read. During lunch time, it gets really busy.

A must try place in DC. The service is always welcoming. The food is always great for light bites and the atmosphere is always uplifting. Make sure you grab there cookies here. They are beyond tasty

So glad a business meeting suggested this Teaism location. I've met folks at the Penn Quarter location but find this one vastly preferable with friendly servers, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, free WiFi, and (if you can snag the right table) good outlets near seats. The food, like other locations, is delicious and well priced. If you're coming here around noon, be prepared for a lunch rush with a line out the door. It can get quite loud during that time. Very glad I came early to snag a table.

When you walk in you can take a look at the menu and order at the counter. Then you choose whether you are dining inside or taking the food out to go. Once you pick up your order, you can find a seat! You also have to clean up after yourself once you finish eating. We ordered two bento boxes which were pretty good. The panko fried chicken was very nice and crispy, and the beef brisket was very flavorful! Thanks!

My new favorite lunch spot!! Been working in DC nearby for years and never tried this place--I'm sure glad I did because I love this place!! It's a small cafe with plenty of indoor seating (and outdoor). Don't be fooled by the name of the restaurant--it's not just teas here--there's a good variety of food options to eat! I've been here three times this past month just to try a variety of their dishes and so far have not been let down. Highly recommend the "bento boxes" for lunch--it's a huge portion with your meat option and three sides (the broccoli one is so good!). My favorites are the Korean Beef Brisket and Panko Fried Chicken Bento Boxes! If you're not feeling the bento box style, you can order these as "side dishes" which is a huge portion too, and almost half the price. The Thai Chicken Curry is also delicious--tons of chicken meat and well flavored. It's a cafe style--you order at the register, wait for your food and then bring it to your table. Food comes out fairly quick!

Just like their sister location in Penn Quarter, this Teaism location offers great teas in a space close to the north side of the White House. I do appreciate the addition of outdoor dining space, and they have a cozier interior. The menus are the same, so I would recommend their bento boxes.

    Okinomiyaki with shrimp (to-go)

I'll start by saying that I always enjoy a visit to Teaism. This was my first time at the Lafayette Square location. I loved the bright and airy feel of the interior, and there's a nice, cozy outdoor patio for the nice weather days. Onto the food, I ordered the bento box (panko-fried chicken) and the okinomiyaki with shrimp. I love that there's a good mix of dishes that can be made vegetarian easily. For a to-go order, my wait time was short and allowed me a few moments to collect myself. Masks were required and from what I saw, everyone who dined in was properly distanced. The only thing I missed was some tea and the oh so delicious salty oat cookies :-) I look forward to those the next time.

What's left of my THAI CURRY SOUP. I wanted to lick the bowl clean!

This is my first time here but it will definitely NOT be my last. I ordered the Thai Chicken Curry with the Dragonwell green tea. Can I tell you something?! It was sooo delicious I had to apologize to the order taker Lordes because I doubted how good the food was here. The curry was so flavorful and literally packed with chicken. There were huge chunks of vegetables that were prepared just right. Did I mention how friendly the people are here? Lordes was very friendly and humbly accepted my apology after I tasted my delicious dish. Another way you know the food is good here, even before you eat. Come in, take a seat watch and listen. Lordes seemed to know most of the people that came in, even to the point of lovingly chastising some of the regulars who had not been in in while. Right away this tells you (1) the food is great and (2) the folks who work here know the people they serve! You can't lose, you're going to get an awesome meal with a beautiful smile, plus you won't have to wait long to eat. Don't take my word for it, find out for yourself.

I tried the lavender lemon mint tea. It was okay to me. I probably would have liked it better without the mint. My friend who got the same thing loved it.

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10

The toro tacos were a standout -- rich, buttery toro paired with a crisp shell, the kind of bite that balances luxury with a little bit of fun. We rounded things out with several maki rolls, all fresh and well put together, each one distinct enough that ordering a few felt worth it rather than repetitive. Beyond the food, the service made the night -- attentive without being intrusive, which is exactly what you want for a birthday dinner. The ambience matched too: romantic, trendy, dim lighting that made it feel like an occasion without trying too hard. This is not a space to grab food if you're trying to have a conversation. We often found ourselves yelling across the table and when selecting items to share we crammed ourselves on one side of the booth squishing other patrons. Otherwise this would've been a 5 star review. Our waiter was amazing, albeit a bit distracted at times because of his service area, and helped advise us on the items we were interested in. We had: Koika No Karaage - their version of calamari - 10/10 - lightly fried with the most amazing texture and paired with a yuzu mayo. For the price I wish the serving size was larger but that's my only gripe. Kani - 10/10 - snow crab with spicy mayo - 2 came with the order and they were amazing. The Japanese crest was the perfect contrast to softness of the snow crab. It was also seasoned well. Hotate Toryufu - 10/10 - the scallops melted in your mouth. Amazing. No notes. California Maki - 6/10 - my least favorite thing here. It wasn't awful but it didn't compare to the other things we had. Drinks - I WISH I could remember the name of the drink I had. Hands down one of the best drinks I've ever had and was paired with sparkling sake. Bathe me in sparkling sake, put a bottle in my casket, I want it with me forever. I would come back for sure but would opt to sit at the bar. It would definitely be easier to speak to someone sitting next to you than across from you. For the price you will not get full here but if you want to share some small bites of new food this is absolutely your spot.

Out front there's something that looks like a tuk-tuk or rickshaw. Tbh, don't know if it's theirs or the business next door. The restaurant itself is clean and elegant. Also, not as loud as some Korean BBQs (thinking of KPOT off of Randolph Rd), which is important if you don't like being overwhelmed by everyone else's noise. That is one big '+' in Kanpai's favor. The waiter was cool and very helpful. Because of him I now know what the thin meat slices are meant for (which is for the soup), before then I had no clue. The food itself is good. Like, why wouldn't it be? I actually prefer the shabu-shabu (soup), makes me wish I knew how to do that myself so I wouldn't have to go out as much. Yes, the grill meats were great, as was the kimchi. These places are not cheap, but it was enjoyable while I was there. But don't warm your seats for more than 90 minutes, as Korean BBQs tend to kick people out (nicely, nicely) if one overstays. P.S. I'm sure they have some great drinks there, but even if I wanted to I couldn't loiter. That's what Bethesda is for. (Or at least how it used to be.)
