I used Yamashiro to provide appy for NYE celebration. I walked in the day before, asked them to arrange artfully in my beautiful glass serving plates. They were helpful in selecting to provide vegan as well as traditional sushi. Then the offered to deliver so I didn't have to manage walking down the street with platters. My guests were impressed and I told them all the great service I received. They know how good the food was on their own. I have often ordered in Manhattan... for what??? Probably one the worst places I have ever gotten sushi from. I ordered the king crab roll (Dynamite) and crispy calamari through postmates. The calamari is so bland and was lukewarm. The sushi is so bad I'm worried about finishing it and catching food poisoning. It does not taste fresh, it's dry and seems as if it was made in a rush. I'm mad I paid for this food only to be met with something I could've got out of the grocery store or frozen food section. I will NOT be ordering from here again. read more

Really enjoy coming here during my lunch break. Quick service and wait staff is always friendly. The menu is pretty big and has lots of options. I love their sushi lunch combo, you can get 3 rolls for $11.95. I also really like their spicy titanic roll. Everything is made fresh and the presentation is very appealing. Fine sushi. My salmon avo roll was good, fish was fresh. Miso soup was flavorful and yummy. My speciality roll - eel dancing roll- was not great. There were so many tempura flakes it felt like sawdust in my mouth. I couldn't tell if the salmon on top was raw or cooked, which is a bad sign for either. Might return for the more basic rolls in a pinch, but would likely try elsewhere. read more

The place is clean. Small place that seats about 20-25ppl but has a cozy intimate feeling. Nice soft r&b and pop playing in the background. I was absolutely blown away by the service at this place. My partner and I wanted something inexpensive that wasn't completely unhealthy so we stopped in here. The prices were extremely fair. It's cheap sushi, so we set our expectations appropriately. Having worked in the service industry for close to a decade, I was floored that an inexpensive sushi restaurant could get their service, timing, and attentiveness down so perfectly. There were so many small things our servers did that far more expensive restaurants have gotten wrong. Four rolls, a bottle of sake, and two bowls of miso later, I was only $36 poorer. Go to this place. Make the trek out from your bougie soho studio apartment and have an evening here. Skip ordering the same order of Indian food for the four hundredth time. Take out your Metro card and explore. Whatever you do, just don't order it on seamless, because you'll really be missing the most important part of Yamashiro; the heart. read more

There's no way that 24 rolls should have fit in a box that i usually receive 8. The taste was pretty standard tho. The pineapple fried rice was bland. The fried cheese cake tasted 3 weeks old and then was fried in old oil. Both fried food items tasted like the oil was old and had fried MANY things before. I had a wonderful first experience at Yamashiro. A waiter arrived seconds after I was seated, and after I made my order the food arrived pretty quickly. Their menu has a lot of variety of food, and they are priced comparably cheaper to the other japanese restaurants around the neighborhood. I ordered online (Grubhub) The food came fast. It was really good. I order a lunch chicken katsu bento box. The chicken was nicely breaded. The slices were thick and just over all delicious. I asked for regular mayo (not spicy) and it came with miso soup (or salad) and rice. There were 4 pieces of sushi (California rolls) with wasabi and ginger. My favorite part was the shumai! Everything is delicious. Great prices and the staff is really friendly. I especially love the tuna fried wontons with jalapeños on top. So yummy! The plating is also very beautiful. (Seamless order) The Bad: -Delivery took 55 minutes. The estimated delivery time was 30-45. It felt like 10 light years though. I saw things. (This was after gym) -The sushi rice needs more salt/vinegar/sugar mixture. -Can you describe your seamless menu better? I got the Caterpillar roll because I thought it had eel in it. Ok for one thing: you have to try their crispy dragon rolls. Its an unagi tempura with avocado. You bite through the chewyness of the rice, and get down to that crunch of the tempura, feel the smoothness of that avocado and delight with the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce. Its AMAZING.
