I join others who have a low opinion of Xfinity. They get two stars because I had a successful contact with their customer service last week. A very friendly support staff member reset my system, which corrected the terrible Wifi I had been getting for over a year. It's fine now. My remaining problem with them is cost. I use only the internet and my mobile phone. So why does that need to cost $175 + $54 per month? When I went overseas recently, the roaming charges amounted to highway robbery and my total bill for the month was over $300. I had Verizon a few years ago and was no happier with the service. There must be something about the industry that allows these companies all to end up with such unhappy customers. America's strong in tech. With innovation, it should be possible to get more services for less over time. There should be better value for money for the customer. I don't feel it. read more

Like others, I would give negative stars if possible. Simply put, if you have any other option for internet service, avoid Comcast at all costs. Besides being unreliable and providing absolutely atrocious customer service, Comcast seems to have a culture of deception and making things deliberately difficult. I attempted to terminate my service only to discover that Comcast forces you through several painful steps - probably as a deterrent to leaving! At another point, I wanted to change payment methods and I was preventing from deleting credit card information in my online account, even though I'd already established another payment mechanism. I could go on but it suffices to say that Comcast is bottom-of-the-barrel and not worth anyone's time, money, or headaches. read more

This morning I was on hold for a 1:57 min. before someone to my request once the tech assisted me my services is still not working and they are unable to get someone over my house today. COMCAST has got to be the worst cable company out there! You guys suck! I was actually going to sign up with comcast as a new customer. My first appointment they "no called-no showed". The second appointment, the same thing happened. Like people have nothing better to do with their time than sit around waiting for the comcast cable guy to show up. I called and insisted on speaking to a supervisor. Who then assured me next day installation for free and blah, blah, blah. The guy came, said the cable pole on my street was too high and they needed to come back with a truck. My question, of course was, when? " Well, tomorrow is Sunday. We don't work on Sunday. Concast's Xfinity X1 system Guide for TV is phenomenal feature-wise, HOWEVER the service and functionality is awful. HEre's what you need to know. If you like pausing and rewinding live programs you will need a DVR enabled box for each set. That's an additional $19.95 for each one. To get the X1 system you will need the Internet bundle. Concast Internet is crap downloads speeds are decent depending on the option but upload speed is pathetic and so is latency (ping response). If you have gamers or are a heavy social media uploader, you will not be pleased. Customer support is hit and miss. you can be assured you will get different information each time you speak with a customer support rep. Shared DVR functionality is sketchy and clumsy if you do have a multiple DVR set-up. DVR boxes see only what was recorded on itself not shared from the other DVR(s). Non-DVR boxes see only programs recorded one of the DVR enabled boxes, not the other ones. Which box your recording ends up on is a bit of a mystery, I think it is just the first DVR seen by the slave (non-DVR box). Programming packages (even the top package) exclude TMC which is $16 per month extra. If you have only 1 TV or don't mind spending close to $300 per month (for 4 or more TVs), you will be happy, otherwise do not waste your time. read more

I really wanted this to work out, but after a week of trying I terminated my comcast / xfinity agreement and returned all the equipment before the first 30 days were up, because this company could not correct its own internal errors. I had ordered a bundle that I selected online, and it came with introductory pricing of $44.99 per month for the first 12 months, and then $64.99 for the 2nd year and so on. For some reason, Comcast entered that into their system as $24.99 per month. Also, I had clicked on the choice that said I'd supply my own modem, and the initial e-mail and order form indicated that the modem would be provided by me and not rented from Comcast. To my surprise, I got a Comcast e-mail saying they had shipped a "self-installation" package that included a Comcast modem that I'd be charged $15 per month for. I called and someone at Customer Service said the e-mail was auto-generated and a mistake; they had it in their system that I was providing a modem and an installation guy was coming with the TV decoder box. No Comcast modem was coming to me, she confirmed. I told her the e-mail included a tracking number for the shipment but she said it was erroneous and I should ignore it. Sure enough, the night before the installation guy shows up, the package arrives and it has a Comcast modem in it. Next day, the installation guy arrives, I tell him the story and he insists on using the new, freshly shipped modem, because he says Comcast must have determined that my old modem wouldn't work. That's odd, I said, because Comcast never asked me to supply any information on the old one, so how would they know it wouldn't work? He insisted that the technology changes quickly and even a modem that was only one year old (which I had) wouldn't work. Anyway, he got the TV working, but he couldn't get either the new modem or my old modem to work. He said there's something wrong with the internet service - we picked up the signal but only got Comcast's homepage, asking us to activate service, and when we "activated" (i.e., fill in account number and phone number), the system then said we had already activated. It just kept going in circles. He called Tech Support and learned that the reason for this was a "billing discrepancy" and that you can't get TV and internet for just $24.99 per month. The installer guy then said he had to leave and that I should call Customer Support to get the billing discrepancy straightened out. He said it would mean waiting on the phone a long time and it would be better for me to do that alone without him hanging around. He clearly wanted to leave. And he wanted me to sign something on a handheld device he had with him, presumably stating that the installation was finished. I said I didn't want to sign because it wasn't working. This made him very agitated and it got very uncomfortable, and so I signed in order to get him out of my house (I was home alone and hadn't given that any thought in advance, but I was now getting worried about it by the end). He left, and I called Customer Service. Thus began a very long odyssey of phone calls. I had five or six subsequent phone calls over the next week, all of them trying to sort out this problem, lasting in total around 3 or 4 hours on the phone. Several of them were very sympathetic but did not have the ability to change anything. It turns out that the only way to get the internet activated was to plug me into "everyday pricing," which meant $77.95 per month instead of the intro price of $44.99 per month. Initially, they claimed that the "retention department" would then be able to discount it down to the original "new customer" pricing, but that never worked. On my last call to try to sort this out (about a week after the installation), I called the local Xfinity Store phone number to ask about what's going on and why my billing hadn't been adjusted to the intro price, and the people on the other end of the line looked up my case in their system and said I was trying to change plans and once you're in the system and change plans you no longer qualify for intro pricing, etc. The whole thing was such a Kafkaesque runaround and such a display of incompetence. Honestly, it blew my mind how poorly managed this company is and how incompetent. I decided I had dodged a bullet by finding this out within the first 30 days, because I was allowed to back out and not be bound to a contract with this company. If this is how new customers are treated, imagine how much they would take me for granted if I was past the trial period and stuck in a contract with them. read more

I join the 205 reviewers that collective rate this company's service a 1 (one). Unfortunately there is not a rating lower than one or I suspect that all 206 of us would select that. The quick description of my plight is, I had a technician service call scheduled for yesterday, after spending 3 1/2 hours (most of which was on the phone with his supervisor seeking advice as to what to do to fix the problem) he left. Approximately two hours after he left I received a phone from him that alerted me that he had learned from his supervisor that one more thing needed to be done to complete the job. Unable to meet last night we scheduled today between 1 and 3 for him to return and complete the job. Well I bet you guested it he did not show. In contacting the customer service department to attempt to learn what was going on, well I bet you guessed it again, they did not have a clue and could not find out. If you have any other alternatives to the Comcast / Xfinity cable service please take it and save yourself aggravation and despicable service. read more

I gave only one star because zero stars was not an option. I have been having problems with my email, resetting my password. I keep my passwords written in a notebook, along with answers to security questions. I changed my password weeks ago and nothing but problems since. I enter the new password and I get messages telling me it is incorrect. I answer the security question (first my home address, the only address I have on file with comcast, and I get an error message that it is not correct; Then it tries another security question to enter my nephews first name, it's Daniel, entered in all lower case, and again an error message telling me it is not correct). So I try calling xfinity a few weeks back. After listening to the long menu, I finally reach someone. They want to verify my account (which is fine), asking for my name, address, and then they want the account number. How on earth am I supposed to know the account number, unless I can log in and get it, which I cannot do because my password does not work. In addition, I quit getting paper bills years ago, so I do not have hard-copies of anything from xfinity. I got frustrated and hung up. I left a poor review of the situation at that time too. So today I try again, and called customer service. This time I had to verify my name and address. She tried sending me a link to another email address, then texting to my phone. Each time it required entering in my password to proceed. If my password worked, I would not need to be making the call. HOW FN RIDICULOUS. So, I was given another number to call for assistance, and again, they want my account number. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW MY FN ACCOUNT NUMBER-A 16 DIGIT NUMBER THAT I CANNOT GET UNLESS I LOG ONTO XFINITY, WHICH I CANNOT DO, HENCE THE REASON FOR THIS FN PHONE CALL. So again I hung up frustrated. For the record, I received a follow up phone call to rate my service, at the start I was asked if I was the person who made the service call, each time I entered '1' for 'yes' and the voice recording kept indicating it could not comprehend my response. Hence I think the system is rigged to ignore poor reviews, which they knew they were going to get. So, now I cannot log onto xfinity, I have no idea what to do. Meanwhile, I tried changing to Fios, but was informed that the city of Alexandria (Virginia, USA) has a contract with xfinity and is the only provider available for residents of this city to use. We are screwed, so xfinity can provide this rotten service and get away with it. FN INCOMPETENT MORONS WHO KNOW NOT A THING ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have been a customer of Xfinity both internet and cable TV for five years. Since the leadership in our country decided to reverse NET NEUTRALITY, as of late my internet is SLOW, GETS HUNG UP, and some sites have gotten so slow I can't continue to use them. Every bit as lousy as you've been led to believe. The worst is customer service, where you can be on hold for 90 minutes before being disconnected, then put on hold when you call back and disconnected after 30 minutes on hold (I guess Comcast considers that progress). The people you do end up talking to seem to have very little idea what they're doing and, importantly, even less concern about it. Horrible experience -- some of the worst overall customer service I've experienced in my life - if I could give 0 stars I would and switch to Fios or something else. Transferred service to a new house and originally had pro installation set up ($60 charge). Received a call from Comcast suggesting a self-install and switched to self-install yesterday. Long story short...after 3 phone calls today and more than 2 hours of troubleshooting on the phone with them they are now blaming self-install and the only way to fix it (they think??? - but who knows...they have cycled through multiple explanations of what is wrong) is to have a technician come out at $60 charge on Wednesday (so we have to wait even longer for resolution). They will credit $29.99 of $60 charge but I find it completely ridiculous that I now after this time and effort I am back to paying them money to have a working product - it should be $0 for all time I have wasted on this. Oh and this after spending lots of time with multiple representatives who said that they reason there were problems was because the transfer was not set up properly by their colleagues. The customer service is extremely poor. We had to spend more than 7 hours over the course of two days on the phone and web chat trying to resolve Xfinity's admitted cancellation of the transfer of our service, which shut off our cable. At the end of the process (again 7 hours of phone/web time - mostly waiting), the best they said they could do was set up a new account. So we had to go through the start-up process again. An extreme lack of customer care was shown by the company as we had to communicate with more than 10 different people throughout the process and still do not have a clear picture of why the cancellation was done. The company admitted that it knew we did not request the cancellation but could not say why it unilaterally canceled the transfer. The most frustrating piece was that it wouldn't simply fix it. The concern could have been easily fixed but the company decided a very convoluted and avoidance strategy was preferable. Poor does not adequately describe the quality of service. read more

I did not have phone service for one year at my apartment and was continued to be charged for it. Multiple phone calls and service visits. Was escalated to William Montgomery in silver springs customer service who stated it was my fault. His rep represented the value of service at $48 per month and declined to provide more than one month credit even though he confirmed I had never been able to make a call from the house. I am so fed up with Xfinity I might get rid of the internet all together. I already cut my service back from tv and internet to only internet. Many times they charged me for services I did not have nor want. Problem is I didn't see the problem the first time. Till I paid over 9 months for it. Then they of course said there is no way they can pay me back but for 3 months. They did this at least 3 times but I caught them faster after the first time. I had enough and got rid of tv because of it. Now I only have internet. They constantly mess with your streaming to try and up sell you to the next package. I have just about had my fill of that too! I've had xfinity in three different states now. New York, Mass, and now MD. This has to be by far the worst experience EVER. I've had the 1GB internet service since December 27th and the highest speed that I have yet to receive is 177Mbps. I have called Comcast and they have sent over 4 different Technicians, but have yet to resolve the issue. The last straw came on the 14th of February. I had an appointment set up with the window of 3pm-5pm. I receive a call at 3:02pm that I miss by one second, and the Voice message stated that they left because of no answer. Mind you I left work @1pm to make sure I was home. I did not get a knock on my door, a door bell ring NOTHING. Just one call at 3:02pm. I call the number back at 3:04pm and they say that they can not send the TECH back. But that due to my situation since I have been going back and forth with them for some time a supervisor will call by 430pm on the 14th. I did not receive this call till 11am on Thursday the 15th. When I call customer service and I give my information the lady said "oh lordd" but did not know I was on the line. Then she starts talking to a coworker about me while I'm still there. Customer service was the worst, Professionalism was the worst, service was the worst. Will take my business elsewhere. read more

These guys are crooks. Stay away from them. I have repeatedly over the past year told them that I do not use their cable box (i use tivo), I do not use their modem - i have my own - and i have sent them the receipts showing that these items have been returned. Each time i have been told that I would receive a refund for the months that i was charged in error - including a longer standing error that i have two cable boxes, which i never had - and that the billing would be corrected. Each time, i have gotten a new bill with no refund and the same incorrect charges on the account. So over the last year, I have paid $360 in charges to Comcast that I never should have been billed and i simply cannot get them to either correct the bill or to refund any money. i wish I had gotten names and recorded the conversations. This is the worst service provider I have ever dealt with. I am through with them, don't even want the money back and have cancelled and moved to FIOS which can only be better. I signed up for Comcast (unhappy with Verizon) May 2012. Frequently while watching tv, my tv would go blank and "detecting signal" would pop up, then 10 seconds later the picture would return. At first I thought maybe it was weather related or something. When talking with Comcast, they said this shouldn't be happening, they'll send someone over to fix it. They've sent a technician 3 different times and the issue still isn't fixed. The problem is intermittent, so the tech never knows if what he did actually fixed the problem. But I've gotten so many different reasons as to why it happens, and each tech assures me, its fixed. Well, its not. Billing said they would give me a credit for the hassle of not having a fully working service, but that someone higher up the chain would have to do it. I've been promised a call back from this higher up person and have never received one. EVER. I just chatted with Comcast once again, and was made the same promise. I used to champion Comcast's customer service which is the reason I switched from Verizon. However, the lack of concern on their part over this issue has made me consider going back to Verizon...where at least my shows don't cut out (and it always happens at the most inopportune time, when something important is about to happen!!!). As of right now, I'm an unhappy Comcast customer. read more

Comcast is the absolute worst company, I went 1 month without internet (while paying premium rates for it) and it took 4 phone calls and 2 house visits to fix the problem (which was a bad wire). Then my next bill was upped $45 without any warning. When I called costumer service not only did I get two different stories about why the bill went up, but no one was able to fix the problem instead they all just kept trying to sell me a new plan (and two year contract). When I finally asked to speak with someone from the corporate office, I was told to tweet about my experience and hope someone would contact me. It has the customer service and product quality of a Soviet monopoly but the way it tries to financially gouge its customers in the most creatively deceptive ways is pure predatory capitalism. I'd give zero stars if I could, and I never take the time to write bad reviews. This was my 1st time getting Xfinity internet service, and the experience was horrible. It took over a month to finally get the WiFi installed. Had three different tech appointments (which means I used the little bit of work leave that I have 3 different times)... the first time, the tech was a no-call/no-show. The 2nd time, the inexperienced tech promised me that I'd have working internet by the end of that weekend, which turned out to be the furthest thing from the truth... two-three weeks later, the third tech finally came and installed the modem. HOWEVER, he then discovered that there was a mysterious problem with my account which prevented completion of the installation. NOBODY - and I mean NOBODY - in the Comcast universe seemed to know what the issue was or how to resolve it. After being on hold for at least 45mins, being tossed between agents with nasty attitudes, being transferred from department to department (meanwhile the tech who was here left for his next job...), some angel in the CSA department FINALLY figured out what the issue was and resolved it. Do not get Comcast unless it's your only and last option. The only reason I'm getting Comcast is because I can't get another provider in my area. I've been waiting at home since 2:30 for a technician that was supposed to come from 3-5. Around 3 I get a phone call that I had missed the appt since no one was home, even though I was home! No one rang the doorbell no one knocked. I called and rescheduled, was told they would be back in an hour, did not happen called again they said they would be arriving soon. No one showed for two hours, I called a third time and was told that no one would be coming that unfortunately the next available time was a week from now!!! They are absolutely ridiculous. This isn't the first time I've experience bad service with them, that is why i switched to direct tv 2 years ago. Unfortunately the new area I moved to only allows me to get Comcast But I have been avoiding them because they are absolutely useless. I started my contract with XFINITY in May. Almost immediately I began having issues with my service. Some channels wouldn't come up and would say "call to subscribe" even though it was definitely in my cable package. When I called, the girl gave me some ridiculous "you need to call each channel individually and ask them about their programming." I was like that's insane. Then they tell me no you need a new HDMI cable. WHY? I just started my service two months ago using the NEW home kit materials provided by XFINITY, but my cable is fried?? Things got better for a bit but now I'll try and watch TV and the screen will go black, and then turn green with a little sign in the corner saying something is wrong with the input signal. It happens every few minutes. I call and again XFINITY tells me that I need another HDMI cord because sometimes they go bad "over time" (it's been six months...) and from "storms sometimes fry pieces of the cord"). WHAT?! Is this 2016? Their materials that they gave me are going bad after 6 mos? And every time they offer to have someone go out to your house but give you these stupid windows like you don't have anything to do all day. He said if you're free tomorrow...tomorrow is Monday. I work, like everyone. I can't sit home from 9a-12p waiting for some guy to come by, and then I have to go to the service center myself and get the box and cord. All because they gave me wonky materials. So annoying. Im' only giving two stars because the service center reps have been lovely every time I've gone. read more

Don't do it. Comcast is awful. We were told the channels we wanted were in a package that cost less than what we were paying at Verizon. We switched and found out the woman "made a mistake" and we would need to upgrade packages to get the channels we wanted. Internet will randomly stop working or get incredibly slow. if i could i wouldn't give them a star at all. i bought a router so i can i WiFi in my house and the router that they gave me was 3 updates behind and wont work in my house, i had them come out to check to see whats wrong and they told me i have an old router. im wondering how can that be and i bought the router from the store sep 04,2019 and its only sep 11,2019. They told me i can go to another store (best buy) and buy one and they will use it but why when i just bought one from you guy????? I just moved into a new house and set up an appointment for Xfinity to install the internet. The first time they came they installed it in the wrong room. The second time they came the guy said he was the wrong type of Xfinity repair technician. The third time they didn't show up. The fourth time I called twice during the day and they insisted they would be there by 3. I called at 3 and they said they couldn't come today because it was too late in the day to send someone. I've been contacting Comcast for 3 weeks to get service in my apartment. On several different occasions the technicians showed up HOURS LATE or DIDN'T SHOW UP at all. I asked for a manager who said he would fix it all and he even gave me a follow up number to contact. Not only did the contractor never show, the manager never answered my return call. Point blank, it is the worst service I have ever experienced. I ended up switching to RCN. My cable was installed the same day I made the call, hence my ability to even write this review. They are ALL EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and might as well be recordings. They only have the same answers for everyone and nothing ever gets done. I did not want to give them a star, I have been on the phone for approx 2 hours with 4 different customer service reps trying to get the boxes the tech removed from my home on Sunday 23rd. He came in to try to put in a new remote and was told I had to get internet in order to use the box. He intern took the x1 boxes i had for approx 5 to 6 years or more. They gave me old remotes that as the same as when comcast first started I did not know before he left. Some programs speak other then english , it narrate and picked up a movie to be paid for. I tried to get the boxes back I had but everyone tells me I need the internet in order to use the boxes I had for all of these years without the internet. Everyone i spoke to tells me I now need to use the same boxes I had for years. read more

If I could rate it 0, I would! If you do not have Comcast and are considering it - run the other way as fast as you can. It is the most erratic service (cable and Internet) I have ever had. In addition to at times being slower than dial up, it goes out often and for extended periods. This the 4th prolonged "outage" in 5 days. Day 1 - went out late morning - estimated up again by 3:30 pm -- continued to periodically go in and out until 11 PM when I turned everything off and went to bed. Next day - went out around 11 am - back up late afternoon. Day 3 - blips - in and out all day. Day 4 - wasn't home, so can't say. Today it went out at around 7 am - estimated time it will be back up -11:30-12. Now, add to this that every day -- seriously, every single day, the cable TV goes in and out between approx. 11 am and 12:30 - get a black screen with white lettering that tells us they are sorry, but are experiencing a "service interruption." And if you've looked into Comcast, you know it is expensive - and don't be fooled by the come-on offers -- once the initial period runs out, the price pretty much doubles!. I work at home, so the cost is escalated by the work I am unable to accomplish when my Interne access is out. We used to have Dish for TV and Verizon Internet (FIOS is not yet available where we live) - we used to joke that every time the angels burped the TV went out. Generally the TV outages were weather related and I guess understandable with a satellite dish. But, you know -- the Dish actually went out less often than Comcast! We pray daily for FIOS to hurry into our neighborhood so we can kiss Comcast a final goodbye! I wouldn't recommend Comcast to my worst enemy! read more

Customer service personnel seem less than incompetent. Long story short, we scheduled a visit four days ago. They were supposed to install our Internet, phone and home security today. The service rep scheduled the appointment incorrectly I and it was rejected by their system. We were not notified, no record in their system. it's like we never called. It took hours on our cell phones today (costing us money) before we spoke to someone who understood how to schedule an installation. We aren't scheduled untill the 20th. Because of our location, comcast/xfinity are the only providers if Internet/cable. And we both depend on Internet access at home for work. We would go with anyone else if we were given a real choice. If you have options, save yourself the headache and go with another provider. read more
