I've paid the same low price for almost a decade, and on the rare occasions I've called for tech support, a helpful human answered immediately and resolved my issue. DC Access replaced my expensive, second-class Verizon service. Matt, one of the owners, arrived punctually and got everything working -- except one of my printers which I had had problems with. Wonderful service! Security cameras were installed along with a DVR and viewing app for video generated, a new internet hardline was run, and WiFi equipment was changed and hugely improved. My purchase was to receive free digital TV reception from the local television stations in the DC area. Technician Tony provided excellent service installing my new antenna on the roof which took less than an hour. Tony explained that pointing the antenna northward will allow me to receive Baltimore stations as well. I am currently getting my home renovated which will mean more rooms needing TV feeds in the basement. Tony gave me expert advice of options on what was needed to expand the signal for TV's in future rooms. After Tony left I hooked up one of my older flat screen monitors and it performed its normal scan of "Air" stations. Once it completed scanning multiple digital stations came up with out issue. "Wa-la" free TV. The reception and digital quality of the display is great. I highly recommend DC- Access and I recommend to ask for Tony to do your installation. read more

I keep forgetting to write a review for DC Access, and I am now finally getting around to it. I've been a customer since this past summer when I moved across the street and learned that Verizon Fios was not being offered in my new location. I work online, and so I need to have a reliable connection-- and that's when a friend of mine recommended trying out DC Access. A long time customer of Verizon, I was wary of going with a small, local company. Long story short, I could not be happier. Frankly, I feel like DC Access is better than my previous service with Fios. For one, the internet connection feels much more reliable now than it was before (maybe it has to do with the number of people who are on it? I don't know, but I haven't had -- fingers crossed-- any outages or lapses in quality). The other great part about DC Access is that, since it's a small local company, they are very responsive. I don't have to wait on the phone for ages or swap emails with nameless customer service reps. Anyhow, if DC Access offers coverage in your area, I highly recommend it. read more

Amazing. I don't understand how people in their service area do NOT use DC Access. Friendly and helpful customer service. The person who did my installation arrived right on time. Internet use has been flawless since the install almost a month ago with their least expensive monthly rate (plus they give a discount to my building, which makes my internet almost absurdly cheap). They earned my loyalty forever when I called them to schedule a re-install, and they waived the fee. (I have to move from my current apartment to the apartment next door to escape horrifically loud upstairs neighbors). I have paid the same monthly price and it has never gone up in all these years. No hidden fees. All equipment is included. DC Access is a gem in this age of mega Internet options that charge a fortune, and do not provide reliable service if you live in a basement as I do. I had been a DC Access customer when I previously lived on The Hill at Quorum House and I was so pleased to have reliable, affordable Wi-Fi with excellent service for persons such as myself who have bad computer and tech karma. Not only did DC Access take care of all Internet challenges but Martha and Matt are such lovely people that I knew I would never be left out in the cold. When I returned to DC earlier this year and lucked into a great sunny apartment on The Hill, I didn't think that being a pseudo-basement would be the source of immense frustration with dropped Zoom calls, zero Wi-Fi in the midst of relocation challenges. Then I remembered the great service I had received from DC Access and the rest is history. BTW, when I told my next door neighbor, who had similar Internet Woe, that I was working to convince our reluctant landlord to have a DC Access receiver installed on the roof, she signed up and is now a second very happy customer at our address on The Hill. We've just moved into a house that already had DC Access and chose to keep it because of all of the positive reviews. Martha and co. have already backed up all of those reviews. Martha was extremely prompt in her response to my questions and even answered some I didn't know I had. Before we moved and without us having to ask, she suggested having a technician come in and update the hardware so that we had a more modern system. Mike came out to swap out the hardware. He was kind and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He even gave me some insights into some other telecom issues throughout the house and neighborhood. My interactions with DC Access have been simple and informative and infinitely more efficient than any I've had with other telecom companies. The owner and company graciously (and expeditiously) responded to my prior review, sending out a couple guys to attempt to resolve my issues. They fiddled about on the roof for a bit, swapped out my router for a newer model, and set up the new network for me, too. As noted by other reviewers, this level of customer service is hard to find, so it's worth mentioning. However, the same problems have persisted for me. Intermittent connectivity problems that are both random and the epitome of frustrating are ongoing. When it works, everything is exactly as advertised. Unfortunately, as a graduate student who relies heavily on consistently available internet service, "usually good" isn't good enough. I can't afford to have my internet down with constantly looming deadlines. Couple that with the fact that I spend a decent amount of my limited leisure time using the internet, and it's just not acceptable to wonder "is the internet going to work today?" Would still go with a larger service if I was confident I wouldn't have to break my service contract (potentially leaving DC). read more

I've had DC Access for about two years now, and I highly recommend it. (I had Comcast before and it suuucckkkeedd - the Comcast internet was spottier, went out more frequently, I spent probably a combined 55 hours on the phone with them, was charged for stupid things that they never explained, was sneakily signed up for contracts without my explicit consent, had to take days off work to sit around for 6 hour windows waiting for a technician to show up, and for some reason I'd have to take my router up to the Brentwood office about every third month which doubly sucked because I don't have a car.) Anyway, DC Access is wonderful. Their internet is fast enough for multiple people to be streaming/browsing at once, it is dependable, and they have amazing customer service. For example, a few weeks ago my internet went out completely, no rebooting the router/checking plugs/etc would work. I sent them an email at 10pm on a Saturday night, they responded an hour later asking if they could come by Sunday at 11am. Then at 11am on the dot, someone was at my door, fixed the issue in just a few minutes, and now my internet is back and I've had zero issue. If you get the basic package, you should pay the extra one time cost of $70 to get the Home Plugs (or just buy some on Amazon). My neighbors had DC Access a few years ago (without home plugs) but weren't happy with the speed, so they switched to Comcast (of course they are now unhappy with the rising and sneaky Comcast fees and hours upon hours of waiting on hold to speak to someone who can't even solve their problems). I've literally never ever had an issue with the internet being too slow, even with 7-8 guests all using the internet/streaming videos at the same time, so those home plugs have to have something to do with it. If you are in their service area, you should absolutely get DC Access. It's a great, lovely, local business. It's also worth mentioning that they are committed to Net Neutrality and promise never to limit access to content, despite what laws may or may not pass in the future. read more

Signed up for DC Access last month, maily because Verizon FIOS wasn't in my area and didn't wanna deal with Comcast. I should have chosed them over verizon in the first place soley based on their customer service. They answer when you call, they email you to check up with you, and they answer any concerns or questions you may have in a professional manner. I emailed an employee saying my internet was slow and she gave me honest, solid advice without trying to sell me their better plan. The internet is fine- it is slow when you stream and are trying to use another device. I have the lowest plan so I guess it makes sense. I don't really have anything to compare it to because this is my first personal experience with a internet provider. Again, if customer service is important to you (which it always should be), then go with DC Access. read more

I've had DC Access for around 5 years now and would NEVER do Verizon or Comcast again -- even it they gave it to me for free! Though DC is significantly less expensive than other Internet service providers, I am a loyal to DC Access because their customer service is second to none. When you call, the DC Access Team responds immediately, gets you on the calendar quickly, arrives to your house promptly (at the exact minute of your scheduled appointment and NEVER late and NEVER a time window that you have to sit around waiting for them to arrive), and handles your issue as if it was their personal tech problem. They really care about getting it right. In fact, on a call this morning, I'm pretty sure DC Access fixed an issue with my Mac -- I asked them to look at a data backup problem because I wasn't sure if it was an internet or computer issue and they happily checked it out and fixed it. Matt and his wife are a presence in our neighborhood, you will see them at Eastern Market on the weekends, and at local events (they are huge supporters of Capitol Hill and our neighborhood schools). They are members of our community who stand behind their service because their customers are also their friends and neighbors. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Can't speak highly enough of the service I have received from DC Access. Came home last evening to find my internet was not working. Called DC Access and left a message. They (a human) called back the same evening (a Saturday, mind you, at 6:30 PM) and scheduled a service visit for the next morning (a Sunday). The appointment was for a time, not a window, and Matt showed up early (on a Sunday morning) to find an outdoor cable had been chewed through by some nefarious little critter. The problem was fixed in about half an hour and my router was upgraded because they noted it was the same as when I initially got DC Access a few years ago. I love it when a local company makes moving away from the awful nation-wide behemoths so easy. To show this wasn't a one-time aberration, a couple months ago I emailed DC Access to say my internet was slowing down around the same time each evening. I got an email back within the hour saying they'd already noted the issue, sent out a tech to fix it, and voila it had been resolved before I even told them about it. read more

I've had them for a few months with no problems after bumping up to their pro tier. Unfortunately I sit here now with no internet connection, no notice of an outage and no customer service person that I can reach at 9:30 at night. It's all great until you have an outage. So, before deciding to switch to DC Access, think about if you could tolerate an outage that occurs after their office closes. You'll have to wait until they open the next day before you will even know if the outage is all of their customers or something wrong with your rooftop router. Kinda sucks when you are in the middle of streaming a show after a long Monday at work. read more

I just moved to Cap Hill and was recommended DC access by a coworker. They are priced much better (everything is included for a flat rate, can you imagine!) than xfinity and fios and unlike those companies are actually pleasant to work with! Mike and Tony did a site survey in less than half an hour before I had to go to work and installed a few days later! They were great, stuck around to make sure all my devices were working well, and even set up my smart thermostat! 10/10 service! read more

So let me get this straight...these folks are located on Pennsylvania Ave. SE, maybe half a mile from the Anacostia River, but refuse to offer their services to East of the River (aka predominantly minority) neighborhoods. But of course they made sure to offer service to the affluent, gentrified neighborhoods like U Street, H Street, Navy Yard, Eastern Market, and several other unaffordable majority neighborhoods. Six years ago I was managing two buildings in DC, I live in one of them on Cap Hill and was referred to DC Access for cable to offer to residents as an alternative to Comcast but the owner of the buildings refused to concede. The current manager of the The Morgan fought the owner hard to have DC Access install their equipment so residents could have a choice and now we do. You don't have to deal with long-term contracts either. They are a great alternative to those large expensive ISPs and DC Access values customer privacy and Net Neutrality. I've been a loyal customer of DC Access since I moved to SE DC in 2014. They're a locally owned and operated business with unparalleled customer service. Every time I call DC Access with a service issue, I am connected immediately to a staff member or am called back within 10 minutes. They send a technician out as soon as possible, which last time was within 2 hours. The technicians show up when they say they will, if not before, and call when they're on their way. The hardware (modem, signal extenders, etc.) is included in the cost of the service. And DC Access markets the ACTUAL wireless speeds you can expect and not the UP TO speeds that Verizon and Xfinity say you can get (though never actually do). I love supporting a business I trust and respect and wouldn't go anywhere else for internet. read more

I wish I had made the switch sooner. I lived with the hell which is Comcast internet for three years on the far edges of the hill- I got used to little signal, no connection anytime it rained, and don't even dream of trying to stream something. Finally, I had enough, and switched to DC Access. I wish I had done it sooner. I've had DC Access now for three months- and everything has been terrific. They came out to install the system when they said they would, I know, how novel! And the internet has been consistent. Pages load quickly and I can actually use my Apple TV now. Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO, all load consistently and the video is not chopping. Sometimes with HD movies on iTunes, it takes about 30 minutes to load, but that is due to file-size and not a DC Access issue. Before with Comcast, I could be waiting two days for something to load, if it loaded at all. We are a 3 laptop, 1 iPad, 2 apple tvs, and3 iPhone household and so far, no problems. And I truly believe the staff at DC Access who told us that if we did have problems to let us know and they would be out and address them. With three years of comcast- numerous calls, even to the executive office and numerous routers, it is nice to have, and expect good internet service. To give that business to a local business is the icing on the cake. We are on their mid-priced plan about $54 bucks a month. Definitely try them out- I wish I had done it much sooner. They are great. But, they found a group of trees on 14th Street, NE blocked my ability to get connection and advised me against the service. Five stars isn't enough. That's a metric that someone (theoretically, and I doubt it) could apply to cyber-behemoths like Verizon, Comcast, Sprint, whoever provides your internet access. The boss or his partner or someone who acts the same way: helpful to the max. No icy-cold, forever-on-hold, then wrong-extension-start-over nonsense. Nope. Personal, friendly, fast service. First or second ring-a-ding. Remarkable in this day and age, where the dominant players are nothing more than a vortex that sucks you under, deeper and deeper.
