I contacted the business online and received a text AND voicemail an hour or so later. When I called back and spoke to Steve, he and I had such a great conversation about computers. He gave me his address and I took the laptop to him. Imagine my surprise to receive a video by text only 20 minutes later, telling me his diagnosis! The hard drive was kaput. He said he could install a new one for me and we discussed some options about buying one. As it turned out, I recalled that I had purchased an extended warranty which would cover a replacement. So he thanked me for my business and said I could pick it up anytime. He gave me the student discount because the laptop actually belongs to my grandson, who is in 5th grade. :D And at $62.50 I am exceptionally happy. Communication throughout the process was poor, and I was rarely informed about the status of my laptop. In the end, I was simply told that the motherboard was damaged and the laptop could not be repaired. The experience cost me both time and money, and I was left frustrated by the lack of timely updates and clear communication.
