Poor Peoples Computer Service (PPCS) In my opinion is one of the best computer services I ever used. You won't find this kind of professional service and support anywhere for these prices. Let me share my recent story and experience with PPCS with you. I'm still amazed and impressed with PPCS service and support. This my reasoning for saying PPCS is one of the best in the business. I recently travelled to Nurnberg Germany in mid NOV 2019. I'm from Silver Spring, Maryland. On NOV 24th I was working on my laptop and getting more familiar with windows 10 and my sound stopped working. I contacted PPCS (Steve) on NOV 25 by phone from Germany. Steve talked me through trouble shooting the laptop's sound system. I couldn't identify or fix the problem. He accessed my laptop remotely (internationally) from the FT Meade, Maryland area. He identified what the problem was, uninstalled, and re-installed the sound driver. While the sound driver was being re-installed, he explained how to use Bitdefender. I previously text him a question about connecting to Bitdefender VPN for additional security. In which he texted me back in a couple of hours that it was safe to do so. Once the sound driver was re-installed the sound was working again. He then, did a quick check to make sure other systems were functioning properly. He told me I was good to go and he did all this in about 30 minutes. And he explained it was taking a little longer because off the distance. I was impressed about the time because I use to stand in line at Best Buys Geek Squad sometimes for 10 -20 minutes and then spend another 5 - 10 minutes at the customer service desk just turning in a laptop. There is nothing worse than waking up one morning to find that your PC has completely gone caput on you.That's exactly what happened to me during the busy holiday time. Frantic and desperate I turned to Yelp to find a place that could get my computer back up and running. Within less than hour Steve responded to my email and told me he could start working on my laptop that SAME day. What's even better is that he was able to meet me at convenient location and saved me a long drive. Mr. Young was a great gentlemen. I needed a new screen for my laptop. The old one was severely cracked in two places. Everywhere I took it to was telling me it would need to be sent out and would take two weeks and cost around $400 or more. Mr. Young was kind enough that he walked me through giving him my make and product number of the screen. Said that he would get back with me that same day or the next. Gave me and invoice for everything parts, labor and shipping of new screen it was less than $175.00 he even called when the screen came in 3 days later. I called Steve when my computer crashed in the middle of a Windows update, which I thought was the problem. Steve picked up my cpu the same day, took it to his shop to diagnose the problem, and called me that evening. He found that the problem was that the motherboard had gone bad. He offered to get a replacement but recommended against it because of the age of my computer. I agreed and asked him to save the data on my hard drive. He returned my box the next evening with my data on a flash drive. Great service at a price beyond reasonable. You hope never to need a guy like Steve, but if you do I'd highly recommend him. read more

I normally do not write reviews but I felt led to write this one. We are a church, Christ Apostolic Church Liberty Center in Bowie, MD, our laptop that transmit to the overhead monitor all of a sudden stopped working on the day before a major problem, I called Steve in the morning, he came,tried to fix the laptop at the location, could not, he took it with him, he even suggested we use his laptop! Needless to say, he figured out what the problem with our laptop within 2hours! brought it back and we were able to use it for service that same day!! Steve is really knowledgeable about IT systems, software, programming, etc. while providing quality services at reasonable and affordable prices, especially when you are on a budget. I needed a laptop for work with very specific systems. Steve found me a refurbished laptop, uploaded the necessary systems, and willing to troubleshot any future issues that could occur. Fortunately, I have not had any issues to report for troubleshot. While trying to download the latest WIN10 updates on my HP laptop, my hard drive crashed. I contacting HP and was told they no longer provided support, so I contacted Poor People's Computer Services. I was told by Steve to ship the product and he would diagnose the problem. Mr. Young is a careful and hardworking former Military, former Federal manager in systems and databases. He "saved my life" with his work retrieving files from a prior PC. I thought I had been backing up my extensive repository of Photoshop files but hadn't. I ended up being caught in a really bad bind. He saved me 100s of hours of past work by managing to retrieve the files. I brought him a huge task and was very grateful for the results he achieved. Excellent! My desktop computer was having some serious issues that Microcenter charged quite a bit for and didn't fix - but Steve returned my call within an hour and was at my house to resolve it for less than what I paid earlier later that day. He's upfront with his costs and gives a nice break to students as well. Steve is friendly and knowledgeable, and he helped me solve my issue easily. I attend school online and my word programs ended where i could not access them anymore without update and key code. I contacted Steve to assist and quote me on prices for new word document.
