So happy and grateful to have found Gadget Guru! Our DJI Mini 2 drone had a bad accident and needed multiple repairs that we didn't feel confident enough to do ourselves. There was a consult/diagnosis fee, but they count this towards your final repair cost at the end, so it's free as long as you are getting your item fixed. Gadget Guru was able to fix our drone for less than the cost of having to buy a new one and we are so excited to have it back and running again :) There were unexpected delays in supplies of drone parts which we would have experienced ourselves as well (the times we live in). They reliably called with updates and thanked us for our patience. Great communication regarding what they found to be wrong and what they would be replacing to fix the problem, with time estimates as best they could :) I will definitely be a return customer with any other electronics in need of repair. Went in requesting a laptop repair due to what I already knew were hardware issues on it (they claimed it was not this at first). Staff were not communicative and they held my computer for over three weeks. They told me over the phone that they had backed up the data on my computer before performing any repairs but when I came to pick up the damage - they let me know that the data had apparently been corrupted. They did not charge me anything for my experience, though I would not recommend going here. read more

When I went by Gadget Guru, just to check them out before I bought my new computer, they made a wonderful 1st impression. All 3 of the Gadget Guru staff that I interacted with while dropping off and picking up my computer were kind and knowledgeable! So many times, people who are good with computers do not have good people interaction skills. The folks at Gadget Guru had great technical and human interaction skills. They had a professional and compassionate attitude and made me comfortable with using Gadget Guru for my new computer support place. As a gift for my 80th birthday, I bought myself a much nicer computer than I ever owned before. It was hard for me to accept that my aging process made me need professional help for set-up work I had always done myself. Gadget Guru did not talk down to me or make me feel "less than" because of my age. So grateful that Gadget Guru was there for me during my aging transition. I was pleasantly surprised by the honesty, reliability, and efficiency of the staff at gadget guru. From the moment i dropped off my laptop, THEY called me almost daily to give me updates on my device. They did their best to ensure I wouldn't have to drive to them for minor issues. Even when changing my password for further repair (which i had forgotten) they walked through the entire process with me on the phone and were very patient. By the time the final repairs came around they made sure to show me the actual pricing of the screen replacement and where to get the parts so i knew i wasn't being mistreated and scammed. And, most importantly, everything was done with smiles and my device was ALWAYS handled very delicately. If it were made of glass it wouldn't have a scratch, smudge, or crack. BRILLIANT! I took my MacBook Pro to the useless Apple genius store to repair/replace the spacebar only to be told it would cost me $700 just to send it out repairs (not including the cost for the repair). I ended up at Gadget Gurus in Columbia. In LESS than one 1/2 hour they replaced the spacebar for $180. Paul took the time to explain the problem and gave me a cost range depending on what would need to be done. It ended up costing the lower end of the estimate and was done in no time. Appreciate the help with my electronics (laptop & Switch) that I took in on separate occasions. GG fixed both and was communicative when I had questions during my repair. They quickly solved the problems I had. I actually used both the Columbia location and Towson location. They were equally helpful. Happy to have a local resource for help vs having to mail things back to manufacturers or big box stores. This is much quicker! Ask for Paul if you want to talk to someone who's super friendly. He didn't make me feel bad for not understanding some of the technical issues and took a long time to explain and make sure I understood what happened with my device. Took my son's PS5 to them to check out why it kept overheating. The PS5 is less than a year old so I was very concerned about why this was happening. Update: After I told Paul that I would be writing a bad review and he shrugged his shoulders, he and 2 other men in the store had a good laugh about the situation when I walked out as I saw through the window. I spent time writing this review and then got a call later that night stating that if I wanted to bring my computer in again they would give me the $250 that apple stated they would give me. Do I want to drive back and forth to this store a total of 6 times and spend another hour if my time on this issue? No. Do I trust that these men would not try to obtain and extort my personal information from this laptop based on this poor experience? Again no. I went ahead and sent it back to Apple. I'm sure I will get barely any money for my trade it but had no desire to go back to this place or give them my old laptop after this horrible experience. HORRIBLE customer service and extreme damage to my computer! I would NOT recommend bringing your devices here if you want them to still work and don't choose to get them repaired with the company. My computer had two keys sticking when I brought it into the store yesterday. Today upon return multiple keys do not work and when I opened up my computer at home it was on a black screen I've never seen before. I had to call the company and figure out how to get it off the screen only to then attempt to unsuccessfully log into my computer. Several of the buttons would not work for me to enter in my password. Upon return to the store, I was told that they would not make it right, and that it was a failing keyboard. Nothing of their doing. I told them that my computer was working properly when I came in, and even was on video setting up a guest account through my computer with one of their employees the day prior. They blamed me because I was able to pop off a key and get it to unstick. They told me that I then broke the rest of my keys. Breaking other keys doesn't come from popping off one key. Whatever damage that they did while they were working on my computer, was not repairable. Now, they're telling me that it would be a minimum of $500 in order to fix my computer. And, I would not get a trade-in of $250 that I was planning to get if I turned it into Apple. Paul, who I spoke with at the store continually belittled me and tried to tell me that I was lying to him, "I could deny it all I wanted" and it was likely water damage...I was the one who made the damage to my keys. He acted like I wouldn't understand what he was telling me continually. Mansplaining is not an appealing quality. Being out $750 is also not appealing. I am absolutely livid to say the least. I will never be using this company again. At this point I feel powerless because I cannot fix my computer, the damage has been done by the company, and they are unwilling to make it right. I am a busy full time working mother who has now wasted 3 hours, gas money, and a $50 diagnostic fee only to come up with a broken computer and out a $250 trade in from Apple. They're Awesome!!!!! I broke my iphone 4s Digitizer screen about two weeks ago and since then it was so annoying to use it... In order to save myself some money I ordered the digitizer screen on Ebay for $22 and after watching couple of videos on youtube decided to replace the screen myself.... It was a really peace of work up to two hours and i figured I pulled the wire which comes from digitizer too much so it broke... After lesson was learned I decided to look up some local places that could get it done for me by experts rather than doing it again and mess more things up... After finding few places nearby and checking the reviews I figured Gadget Guru is the best so far base on reviews on Yelp and recommendations! I called them by 11am and talked to the owner on the phone he was nice and friendly and said just come over we will take care of it! Which they really did! After I walked in the store the owner has greeted me and welcomed me to the placed and asked me how may I assist you, I told him I was the one that called earlier about my iPhone screen, he quoted me $80 for replacing the screen and $20 for extra time to fix all the mess i did on my phone while I opened everything and used wrong screws for the parts.... Well they were so fast and got it done in an hour.... My phone now works perfect and after replacing the screen looks like brand new! Thanks to Gadget Guru for taking care of myself! The guys at Gadget Guru in Columbia didn't just do a great job and replace the screen on my iPod Nano 7th Gen but they offered practical advice on protecting it in the future, called me with questions about my preferences (black screen vs. white screen and respective availability for an older product), and managed my expectations on completion date. When I walked in the store to pick up my Nano, they remembered me and presented a Nano that looked better than new. Really nice, intelligent, helpful, friendly "gurus." This Nano is a recent repair, but I used the same team/store for an iPhone years ago and my screen was fixed and better than new right away and at fair price with a professional attitude. Still a quality operation! If you have a product you need fixed or repaired, reach out to the manafacturer or distributor of that product. I was told they could fix a product to be told they couldn't do anything about it days later. They have no proof that they do a diagnosis on your product. I got my iPhone screen fixed here. They are cheaper than apple's price. It cost more than buying your own do it yourself kit but really, I really don't want to try to the phone apart. I'd probably screw something up. I wanted to get a new phone but not being eligible for an upgrade, a new iPhone cost a lot and I didn't want to chance any used or cheaper phones. I have had iPhones for over 5 years and never cracked the screen. Until now. I almost went to a kiosk at the mall but I'm glad I googled and looked on yelp first. This was closer to my house. During a very eventful St. Paddy's day, my iPhone 6 went for a quick swim in a toilet (oops!). Immediately, I removed the case, and held it under the hand dryer... and it still worked so I kept using it to document the Luck of the Irish on Snapchat for the rest of the evening. I didn't attempt to charge it (which apparently saved it from further damage), but fast forward to the next morning, the screen went blank and I couldn't turn it back on. Of course, accidental water damage isn't covered by Apple Care... and I had travel plans two days later (mobile boarding passes, Outlander on Audible, Spotify Premium...), I definitely needed my phone to work! Option 1 After removing the SIM card, placing the phone in rice, and watching YouTube videos of people taking apart the entire iPhone with tools and patience I don't have... I decided I needed someone to fix it. Option 2 Apple Store? Crowded and slow service, so maybe make a reservation at the "Genius Bar"? On my laptop, I attempt this, and it wants me to enter a code on my iPhone (which obviously won't work since I need the Genius bar to fix it...), so I used a land line to call for an appointment, and it directed me to make the appointment online. UGH. Option 3: BEST OPTION!!! Google "fix iPhone Columbia", found Gadget Guru. Wrote directions down on a post-it since I wouldn't have Google Maps (now realizing how dependent I am on technology). ;) One hour later, my phone was in working order, and they also took care to clean off the camera lens from the inside as well (since the water damage made the lens foggy). iPhone is fully fixed and I'm ready for take-off tomorrow. :D YAY!!! $50 diagnostics, went toward the $120 fix total. :) Totally worth it. read more

They really know what they're doing here. A bottle of water exploded in my bag with my phone inside. I brought the water damaged phone to Paul, the manager here. He not only was able to extract all my pictures onto my USB, but being the magician he is, he even got the phone working again (sans some features which the water permanently damaged). I bought an Ipad about a year and half ago. Paid $500 for it at the Apple store. Just as the warranty expired, I start seeing black lines going across the display. So, I take it to the apple store. They tell me for a mere $330 more, I can ship it off to Apple and they will either repair or replace it. So, essentially,they wanted me to buy a refurbished Ipad from them. Took into these guys. They had the part in stock and charged me $150 to repair it. Originally, they said it would take 3 hours, but they were done in less than two! My husband had water damage on his phone and as someone who never backed up his phone, he was panicking from the possibility of losing all the pictures of our baby. I recently cracked the screen on my new iPhone 5c, so I was looking around for places to fix the screen. I saw the good reviews for this place and decided to give it a try. I tried calling a few times, but no one picked up. So, I went to their store and they said they could fix it within 30 minutes to an hour. Very pleased with the fix, looks brand new again. Took about 45 minutes and costs me $143. Another place in the area said they would charge $125, but they had mixed reviews. Terrible service for Macs. They are extremely slow when you get there with only one person at the counter at a time. It took them a week and a half to call me saying they couldn't fix my hard drive. At maximum that should take a few days to determine. Then they offered to install a new operating system for $100!! That is crazy because that is something that I could do myself for free. Worst customer service I have ever visited. I dropped my phone on Friday, and they promise to call me back on Sunday or Monday to inform the root cause. But until Tuesday they still no call me, so I call them back. They told me they don't know what happen to my phone and they suggest to replace the mainboard which cost more than my phone current price. It is ridiculous. The worse thing is when I pick up phone, I found the huge scratch on my phone and my screen is totally broken. I talk the their staff. and he told me he will talk to his manager and give me a solution. But after 1 week, I didn't get any call back. They just leave it alone and ignore everything. These folks have now restored a laptop and a phone of mine. The laptop had bad RAM installed straight from being "repaired" by Dell. The phone needed the inside camera window cleaned of goop so I could use the camera again. Not that expensive and both items work great.
