I found the basic price for service at $99 to be more than reasonable, though I was told that it would take about two weeks for my computer to be diagnosed. I paid the $75 expediting fee and given a timeframe of 2-3 days before diagnosis. I was then happy to get a call from them the next day with the diagnosis and plan of action. The day after that, my computer was ready for pickup, good as new. Overall, very happy with the experience.

In a world where too…read moremany businesses are prone to simply take your money and give you "whatever" service in return (like The Geeks?), Sam & Company stands out as a shining example of how things should be. How many businesses these days do you know of that actually combine integrity and skill to deliver what they say they will - and at a reasonable cost? If you read the About section on their website, it mentions personal relationships with customers. That's no sales pitch - it's true. I've only had sporadic computer issues over the years and, amazingly, every time I've spoken with him, it's like talking to a friend. He knows his customers! Couple that with the fact that Sam broke away from the corporate world to bring his skills directly to the public and he's definitely earned my loyalty.

It wasn't a cheap machine but like so many things in life, it was past its warranty period. Finding good tech help, like finding a good mechanic, electrician, or plumber, can be difficult. I turned to Yelp for help (yes, I am a poet!) and found that DNS, a small storefront shop on Greenmount Ave, just a few blocks from where I live, had great reviews. After showing up a few times when they weren't open (yes, check their open hours, only a few days a week, and then only for a few hours each day) I went by today and met the head tech Jack. He was with another customer who clearly had been coming to him for a while, and I listened as he carefully and thoughtfully ran through her issues, made sure she was clear on what was happening, and then offered to stay open a few minutes late if she needed when her repair was ready. He quickly diagnosed the issue (a charger that may or may not be working correctly) and since the charger I brought with me seemed ok offered to send me on my way. I decided to purchase a replacement charger from him just in case and his price was better than I could have gotten online. A few other notes - he has many services and their prices posted on the wall - this is super helpful. Second, he offers a discount to teachers - something I am always in favor of. Honest, good-natured, reasonably priced? Yeah DNS has all of that. The storefront is easy to miss, but if you need quality repairs for your machine, this should be your first stop. Support the locals.

She and I checked with some other local repair places, and got [phone] estimates of $99 and up, and $80 and up..."depending". She also tried the campus techies, and was told "We aren't licensed to work on Lenovo" (I was not aware a special license is needed to pull a broken plug out of a Lenovo laptop! I wonder who monitors that?! ) Today she took it to DNS Technology Group, a few blocks from campus. Fixed it in a few minutes, 25 bucks! And super-nice people, according to my daughter. So props and a 5 star rec for these guys (but be aware they have somewhat limited hours)

A technician came to my house and in one hour I was up and running with the best access to the internet that I have had ever--in over 10 years. I was so pleased to have a company only a few blocks from my house that could out perform any computer people I have had in the past, including tech-support people on-line. Since then I have had several problems pop up (unrelated to the installation on the first visit) that I was unable to solve myself despite being fairly computer literate. I identified 5 problems and gave Charm City Networks a call yesterday afternoon. We agreed on 10 the next day. This morning they were at my door at the exact time and quickly solved all my problems. Here are a few words I have to sum up my impression of Charm City Networks: KNOWLEDGEABLE, EFFICIENT, FRIENDLY, REASONABLE, LOCAL. I urge anyone within their range of service to give them a try. I cannot imagine you will be disappointed in their high standard of service.

I can't say enough about how amazing the service is here. I have been here a few times already and every time they have been able to get me up and running after everything else had failed. Not only have they repaired my baby twice, but it's always the same flat fee whether it's only repairing the laptop itself (which required tearing it completely apart) cleaning it and getting it in great running condition, or totally tearing it apart again to replace the keyboard while only charging me for the parts and the flat fee. I'll never go anywhere else! Thank you!! I should add that I almost brought my PC back in for another diagnostic run. I messaged Chris about the reoccurring problem that started up with my PC and rather than have me come in yet again for more repair work he walked me through steps I could take to check/repair it myself and it worked!
