I went to Best Buy initially (I don't know why, maybe I was feeling particularly stupid and…read morethick-headed at the time) and was told that to repair a broken LCD on a 400 dollar laptop would cost...300 dollars. Also, they would have to mail it in to the repair center. I asked why it was so expensive, and the guy said "well, LCDs are really expensive, so the part alone is 200 dollars". I was thinking, ok, who the fuck falls for this crap from a pasty dickwad like this guy? Who would ever think an LCD screen was more than 80 bucks on amazon or ebay? This is why Best Buy is going out of business. The employees that work there are shit. The products are generally shit (unless you firmly deny geek squad protection, warranty protection, repair plans, 5 year soul sucking plans, etc), and honestly they operate on the assumption that Americans are stupid. Yo, Best Buy, we have wikipedia and google, man. Stop being so 1999. Anyway, I called up Charm City Networks, and they said "yeah the part is like 60-80 bucks, but you can buy it online and bring it in and we just charge for labor". They charged 100 bucks for labor(fair enough) and so I went in to see if it was just the LCD that had a problem. They checked the computer, fixed it within a day, and I picked it up the next day after lunch. It was as easy and painless as possible, and affordable as hell. The guys that work there are very nice and helpful, and generally will go out of their way to make sure you have a great customer experience. Everything in that last paragraph is the exact opposite of Best Buy...which is why I recommend these guys for any computer/laptop hardware repair work.

After browsing with absolutely no pressure to make a sale, we decided we wanted a gaming computer and a curved monitor. Ben was super helpful, asked all the right questions about how we're going to use it, our price range, and what add-ons and capabilities we cared about. Ben answered all our questions with ease, was incredibly knowledgeable, and left us feeling well educated and confident in our purchase. We left with a great ASUS curved monitor and a PowerSpec computer, their personal brand. Can't wait to get this set up and start playing! Thanks, Ben!

I brought a PC with issues in a few days ago. After around 24 hours, I was told my motherboard, SSD…read moreand cooler were showing failures so I decided to let them build a new system. I worked with the combo team to create a package and have them build it. Went home, thinking everything was fine. The next day I called to check for progress on my PC and was told my system was still in diagnostics, which struck me as odd as we had already passed this point. I gave it some time and decided to check again later where I got the same response. I explained that we went and had a new system lined up to build and we were just going to keep my graphics card and my NVME drives. A day later, I was told to come pick up my new system, and as I was paying for it, I felt something was off with the pricing. At some point, they had just decided to put a different motherboard entirely than the notification or telling me which broke the bundle price. After the manager had come over and did some magic they refunded me $200 which was fine and I thought the experience was over and I was not going to leave any negative feedback. That is until I tried playing my system. After starting it up, I had noticed there were some issues instantly. First and foremost, the drive that they had told me had failed and we would not be bringing over to the new system, was in my system. They were supposed to have removed this drive, wiped an NVME, and done a clean install on windows on that drive as they had pitched it to me that this drive that is currently in my system and was in the old system was showing failures and would need to be replaced. I thought that was a strange oversight, but that also was not the end of my issues. I started inspecting my PC and noticed that several of the cables were not plugged in. There was an attempt to plug them in, but they were just left halfway in and bending my pins. I am exceptionally upset at the overall experience as I trusted them and gave them a decent chunk of money in this time, just to be disrespected. I feel like I should just automatically be given an extended labor warranty at this point at the least.
