They'll do the diagnosis right in front of you. If the repair is simple, they'll make the repair while you watch. This openness gives one great confidence in their work. One of my 20' XLR microphone cables failed while I was doing a remote recording session...scratches and crackling from a short circuit. I brought the cable to Elman for repair. He found the problem and fixed it. The "extra mile" was his applying heat shrink to the soldered leads which has two benefits: - stabilizes the leads against strain, and, should they get pulled again, prevents them from touching and should prevent electrical short circuiting.
