He was professional, knowledgeable, and talked me through everything he was doing. He eventually figured out the problem, which was far from obvious, and looked into repairs (which wasn't possible because of the age). Fred, at Fix Appliance Baltimore County, is an honest, knowledgeable and kind specialist in…read moreappliance repair. I know nothing about refrigerators and felt vulnerable about trusting the opinion of someone I've never called before. Fred was professional, thorough and very well priced. He showed up exactly on time, knew my frig make and model ahead of time, had an arsenal of tools and wore foot booties, investigated the refrigerator thoroughly and gave me a diagnosis and a recommendation. He was at my house about 2 hours and he showed me what was happening with the frig and the problems that were occurring. My frig is 10 yrs old with a leak to a line and he told me I may want to consider a new frig rather than put money into an appliance with diminishing returns. I appreciated Fred's insight and he even gave me some things to consider when buying a new one. Fred knows what he's doing and he cares about the people he helps. I will definitely recommend him to others who want a dependable, honest, knowledgeable appliance specialist who will put the customer first. I recommend him highly. I also felt good about supporting a local business rather than calling a larger manufacturer's technician who has a loyalty to the company and charges significantly more for a diagnosis'.

They offered to come the next day, and I said to text when they were on the way, which they did. Initially they had quoted $75 flat fee, but it turns out that is only diagnostic, and they only accept Cash App or cash. When I said I was not comfortable with Cash App, they called and were not exactly polite, so when I said "no thank you, we will have to use someone else, since I only use Zelle or Venmo and not Cash App for online payment," they hung up on me. I can't speak to their repair abilities, only that it felt rude and sketchy from the start to not call or notify me of their policy ahead of time. Just be aware, it's Cah App, cash money, or nothing - if they show up at all.

My dishwasher needed to be fixed. I wanted to try a smaller company this time, so I gave ABD…read moreAppliance a call. The owner, Mr. Abdullah, came out to the house, took a look, then texted me a quote the next day. I ended up turning the work down, because for the amount that he was asking, it made more sense to just buy a new dishwasher from Costco, which includes installation. Yes I think the quote was very high, but that's not the reason for this 1-star review. The problem is this. He didn't tell me about his $75 service fee until he was at my house and had already looked at the dishwasher (which took all of 3 minutes). I'm perfectly okay with a service fee, but it needs to be explained upfront and not when he is standing in my kitchen with his dirty boots on. I handed him my credit card, and a moment later I see on his credit card machine that he is charging me $95. I questioned him immediately and he simply denied it, saying he said $95. Later he told me on the phone that he has been charging $95 service charge for the past 5 years. That's not true. Looking through the reviews here, he himself stated (just last year) that he charges $89 service fee, and another reviewer wrote (two years ago) that the service fee was $79. I can't speak to the quality of his work, but this is just too much shenanigans. I do not recommend ABD Appliance.
