I just kept replacing the sensors until I found the bad one. At least he was honest and saved me a service call charge. I fixed it myself for about $100 dollars. The honesty was that he couldn't help and didn't want to waste my money. I appreciate that.

I'm giving it a bit of time to make sure the repair holds, but so far things seem fine. That said, I do have two concerns: Everything was done via text. The booking, estimate, and payment were all handled by text message. While that's certainly convenient, it also made the whole experience feel a bit impersonal. I'm not old, but I still value some human contact and connection with the company I'm hiring. The tipping prompt felt inappropriate. When I went to pay the invoice, there was an option to add a tip for the repair tech on top of the quoted price. I really dislike this practice. Restaurant servers depend on tips as part of their income; repair technicians should be paid an adequate salary by the company, without the customer being nudged to subsidize their pay. In short, I appreciate that Andy Duck Repair addressed the issue, but I hope they'll reconsider how they handle customer interaction and tipping in the future.

So yeah the story changed a bit. I suspect they just didn't want to work on the appliance or didn't want to order the part from a different distributor. The only reason I give two stars is they looked at something else while they were at my place at no extra charge. But shady/dishonest from our experience.
