I reached out through Yelp about a leaking dishwasher, and Pablo, the owner and technician, responded incredibly quickly. He was able to come out the very next morning, diagnosed the issue, and had it completely repaired in less than an hour. Pablo was personable, professional, and communicative throughout the entire process. He clearly explained the problem, answered all of my questions, and made the repair experience stress-free. It's not often you find someone who combines technical expertise with such outstanding customer service. I highly recommend Pablo for any appliance repair needs and will definitely call him again in the future. Outstanding service from start to finish! read more

Pablo is amazing! He been fixing our appliances for 6 years now. Saves us money too, because he is honest and will tell us when something worth fixing or need to be rep. While he was here fixing our dryer, I told him about the AC, someone told us to upgrade the whole system, but after putting some freon, our house is 73 degrees again. We are going to have him come back and take a look at it, because I know I can trust him. Anyway, he fixed this old dryer in less than 2 hours and it is like new again! read more

Zapata's HVAC Systems - maytagdryer - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

I really wanted to have a positive experience with this HVAC company, but unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. When I asked what I thought were straightforward questions about the PSI readings before and after Freon was added, the technician became noticeably defensive and agitated. I ended up having to stop the conversation and asked him to just complete the work, which made things feel tense and unprofessional. To his credit, he did apologize later and his tone became more friendly, but by then, the interaction had already left a bad impression. I had no problem paying the $800 freon recharge cost, but at that price point, I think it's fair to expect respectful communication and transparency. I was simply trying to keep track of the PSI readings for my own records, since I'm dealing with a known leak. As a customer, I believe it's reasonable to ask questions and feel comfortable doing so. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won't be using their services again and can't recommend them. read more

Pablo, did my ac repair and now my house is very comfortable. He also performed quality workmanship and not too expensive!

Pablo responded to my request within 24 hours and an appointment was made the next day. He kept me informed as to when he was on his way. He was very pleasant and polite. He could have ordered a new part at a greater cost, but was able to repair it instead, saving me several hundred dollars. I would highly recommend Zapata's HVAC Systems. read more

Pablo was extremely responsive and was able to address the issue immediately. He took his time to explain what the issue was and how things have impacted the building that I was in. The positive is that he does both HVAC and plumbing which I didn't realize not a lot of companies do. Especially for a condo building as I am part of a 6 unit condo building. Would highly recommend! read more

My heater was really loud, like so loud it woke us up at night, and it was the day before a winter storm so we urgently got it checked out. Zapata's price was $325 paid before he even comes out--a crazy high fee but we were desperate and figured it'd go to repairing the heater, which would cost more anyway. Pablo came out and told us everything was fine. We said the noise was not fine and we'd heard no noise at all for the last 4.5 years. He said no it's fine, you could replace the fan but it'd just be noisy in another year. A week later our heat stopped working in the middle of the night in the middle of a very cold run of days. We called somebody else and they found the draft inducer motor was broken. Replaced it and now it's silent again. I requested a refund from Pablo and he refused. read more

Very competent appliance repairman. Pablo Zapata did a very good job fixing bad bearings in my dryer (it was banging loudly). Although pricey, it was much better than buying a new appliance. He also successfully diagnosed my dishwasher as needing cleaning (vinegar et al). While he was waiting for the dishwasher to cycle (charging hourly), I asked him about the upcoming change to propane based HVAC systems for 2026. I had just spent a lot of time with an HVAC guy gaming out the pros and cons of putting in a system in 2025 vs. 2026 and was curious what Pablo thought. He had no idea what I was talking about. Kind of like asking a football player about the Super Bowl and having him go huh? Of course, he may have misheard me. Anyway, I can definitely recommend him for appliances. He's a good guy and quite capable, albeit expensive. For HVAC or plumbing, I can't say, but my general recommendation (not limited to Mr. Zapata) is to remember that in Maryland HVAC techs and plumbers (but not appliance repairmen) are highly trained and must be certified (or serious fines and jail time) after having completed their apprenticeships. In Montgomery county appliance repairmen need county licenses. Before committing to paying someone hundreds or thousands of dollars for some work, make sure their name is listed in the online licensing databases. Our tax dollars at work! read more

Pablo is a terrific mechanic and quality business operator. He clearly takes pride in his work. He also communicates excellently with his customers, something often lacking in other contractors. Moreover, he is genuine, a straight shooter and most pleasant. Overall, I'd give him 6 stars if I could. Fyi, this was my experience with him and his firm. I wouldn't hesitate calling on him and rate him A+! read more

Awful experience in the heat of the summer. He insisted that he could fix my 20 years old system even though I realized it should be replaced. Multiple tries at fixing it; each time it would work for a few hours and then break. Told me he was getting new parts... ultimately I paid him $5000+ for nothing. Got subsequent estimates/evaluations from other HVAC services who said 1) system too old to be repaired 2) parts he used to do "repairs" were used and 3) the Freon he used was not suitable for my system. THe freon that should be used is not widely available anymore (only old stock available( and that is one of the reasons why system should not have been repaired - too difficult/costly to find the right Freon. Very defensII've guy when I tried to discuss. Ended up getting a completely new company and they replaced the system. DO not use him for anything slightly complicated -- he cannot handle it and will lie. Adding post response from company: This is a screen name, not my legal name. I contacted you over a dozen times -- via text, phone, and in person and we have repeated conversations about the issues over the course of a month and you refused to refund even part of the money I paid you, despite the fact that I had a different company come and replace the broken system. read more

Another company told me the compressor in my freezer was broken and quoted me ridiculous. Called Zapata's for a second opinion. Pablo responded quickly and came the very next day on a Sunday. Highly recommended. read more

Pablo is one of the more friendly people you'll meet. he diagnosed the issue with my refrigerator fast and ordered the part that I needed. I'm very impressed by the service. I have an older condo so my AC system is older. I have the older chiller systems. I called numerous companies and they told me they do not service my AC unit type.y one unit was leaking and needed to be fixed. He even took videos of the inside of the Ac system to show abs explain to me exactly what was happening. Highly recommended l! read more

After calling more than a dozen plumbers in our area during a heatwave weekend, we finally called Zapata's HVAC Systems after seeing them highly rated on Yelp. We called so many companies because a pipe in our basement ceiling was leaking and the ceiling was broken from a water bubble. They returned our phone call shortly after and asked us to text to them a picture. Immediately called us back to tell us they were 10 minutes away and can fit us in before going to 5 afternoon appointments. Pablo and another technician arrived promptly. After their inspection, they found three leaks. They advised on what the problems were in terminology we can understand. Less than an hour later, they fixed the pipes with quality work. No more leaks! Thank you Pablo and Zapata's HVAC for fitting us into your busy Sunday schedule in the middle of a heatwave! We will indeed keep Zapata's HVAC in our phonebook for their customer service, sense of urgency, trustworthiness, and quality resolution. read more

Pablo did an awesome job with our refrigerator repair. It stopped working at 5pm on Friday, and I was desperately trying to find a service that would answer the phone. Pablo to the rescue! Not only did he talk with me on Friday night, he agreed to come out and diagnose the problem super early on Saturday morning - I was so relieved! He was super responsive every step of the way when a part needed to be ordered, and came to make the fix at times that were convenient to us, and also explained exactly what he was doing and what was being fixed. Our dishwasher had detached from our quartz countertop. For 3 days I had called about 10 different companies. The few who did call me back put up barriers "we only serve inside the beltway" or "I can come out in 2 weeks". Last night I searched Yelp and sent out requests. Zapata's answered within 15 minutes. I sent him pictures, explained what happened. He was able to come out the next day! He was professional and respectful. He explained to me how it had happened, and how he fixed it. He showed me his work when he was done, and made sure I had no questions. I am definitely going to keep his information for future reference! read more

He is a HVAC professional and didn't tell me that, I thought he was a plumber. Did a less than average job for installing a sink, faucet and attaching dishwasher. He couldn't even find right parts. I had to go to out to get parts twice. First time he was with me and forgot part of the foucet in the shopping cart. I end up with almost 7 extra parts. Anyway I don't know his HVAC work. But I wouldn't hire him ever again as a plumber. read more

I hired Zapata's HVAC Systems to remodel my first floor 1/2 bathroom. It was done very poorly. The paint job was sub-par. I had to hire another contractor to fix his work. The new contractor had to repair the walls and re-paint; repair mirror trim paint; paint the ceiling. In addition, I had to beg Mr. Zapata to take the old toilet that he left in my backyard. After a few weeks, he finally hauled the toilet away. Moreover, I hired Mr. Zapata to install gutter guards in all my gutters. He did a poor job and left many misaligned and sticking up. Some of them blew off. Again, I had to hire another contractor to finish and fix his work. Mr.Zapata said that I needed a new garbage disposal per my inspection report. I read the report afterwards and it did not say that. Beware as this contractor pushes to be paid via Zelle and Venmo. I found out that a previous customer filed a BBB complaint alleging unnecessary work performed and wanting to be paid via Venmo. In addition, like the other customer, he will not furnish invoices. read more

I needed a newly purchased garbage disposal installed and contacted Zapata's HVAC. Pablo, the owner, showed up at my house within an hour and had it up and running in 20 minutes. He explained that HVAC is not his only field of expertise. He also does plumbing and electrical work. Due to his promptness, efficiency, friendliness and very reasonable rate, I've already made arrangements for him to complete a few other jobs that are not in my comfort zone. He will be back to replace all of our bathroom and kitchen faucets, as well as our toilet(s) "guts" and feed-lines. He's also working up an estimate to replace our gas furnace and rooftop AC unit. The a/c unit in my suite had been leaking water from the unit on and off for the last 6-8 weeks, we had a handman that does other work around the house come out clean/blow it out, as he said it was likely due to a blockage. However, not even two weeks later its leaking again... Due to the large amount of water leaking I turned the a/c unit off yesterday and had ceiling fans running which was of no help for me as it was still too hot! I don't know about you but I can't sleep in heat, I like it cold when I sleep. So I pulled an all nighter, so productive playing Soduku and watching some Anime... Soon as it was of reasonable morning hours I told my landlord the issue and thankfully the little lady had someone come out this afternoon! The technician (Pablo) arrived on time, was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable in what he was doing. Pablo answered all the questions/concerns my landlord and myself had. More importantly I have a working a/c unit now that is blowing ice cold air and NOT LEAKING water! I can't want to get a good night's rest tonight. We really appreciate the quick turnaround and the awesome job Pablo did. read more

Pablo and his assistant Leudy did a great job servicing my HVAC mini split English basement system and then installed a nice cover I ordered from Germany on Etsy to make the external condenser look a lot nicer. He had never put together and mounted one of these covers before (and the directions were only in German) but he did a excellent job and even cut a spot for the pipes to enter when it didn't quite fit and applied some clear caulking to some of the rough edges so no one would cut themselves on it.
