Unfortunately, HVAC quit on one of the hottest days of the year after 4:00 pm. I sent a request through Yelp to multiple local repair companies. HVAC Direct was the only company able to respond the same day. You do have to work through their after-hours answering service but that worked out great. A technician arrived within 90 minutes of the first contact and was able to quickly get the AC back on (replaced start capacitor). Charge was $285. read more

This is a solid company with an owner & team who take pride in the work they do. I got a new furnace recently and the one day job turned into two days when my house presented unexpected problems behind the ceiling. Scott provided a quick response and broke down the cost of an annual service contract. I called to set up an appointment and was a bit surprised to be charged before I'd even seen the contract or the had the service. However, since I had the basic details in Scott's quote on Yelp I paid for the service in advance. Then I had to request both a receipt and the service contract, which was a little strange. A receipt was emailed but the service contract was only provided in print copy at the time of the service. As far as the service, the tech was excellent. He took time to check everything out completely, including making very clear that the outside unit was mine (clearly marking it in several places for the next visit/tech). After a brief power outage, the fan in my HVAC system stopped working. The temperature in my home quickly rose to 79 degree. I called HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling and they had a technician call me very soon after. Kevin called and walked me through checking and flipping the circuit breakers to the AC unit with no success unfortunately. Kevin was able to make it to my home a few hours later, locate the problem and replace the faulty part. He stayed and provided me with some education and information regarding my system. The workers were friendly, responsive and timely. They are also knowledgeable. The reason they receive four stars instead of five is that they had to come back the next day because the h it failed again. The first worker repaired multiple elements of the unit. One component that needed attention had to be cleaned out. He cleaned it, but did not clean it thoroughly. As a result, my unit went out that evening and someone had to come out the next day to fix it. When the second worker came the next day, he was able to determine that one element had debris in it, and the debris caused the unit to back up and shut down to protect itself. That is how I know the original worker did not do a thorough job. He was very friendly and talking. Perhaps he was distracted. Uf the first worker cleaned that one component thoroughly there would not have been a need for the second worker the next day.I was going to be charged a diagnostic; however, since I purchased a maintenance fee the day before I was not required to make that payment. I do not believe I should have been charged that payment irrespective of me purchasing the maintenance package the day before. In my opinion, if you are taking full ownership of your work, and you have to come out again 12 hours later that should have been comped. Additionally, I had just paid over $1700 for repairs. I was charged $117 for the second repair for labor. No parts were required. read more

I got home from vacation to an 89 degree home! Thinking i just needed to give it time to cool over I started to run my AC system.. only four hours later it was getting warmer. I used the trusty project tool via yelp and sent out an SOS. I love using the poject tool because it sends my question out to 4 or 5 different companies and each one will contact me for a quote. Typically people usually respond saying call me for a quote, they responded with how much their diagnostic fee was as well as what to do if this was an emergency. I was able to get someone out the very next day and and the techs that came to my home were able to fix the issue rather quickly. They were also super transparent the entire time with what cost would be and why. I know that some things just cost a lot and i expect it but i appreciate them walking me through each step before proceeding with the work. His responded to the details in my request and gave a little info on his recommended next steps. He clearly read my request-- it wasn't just an automated stock-response. Then, he told me I could call their number to talk to Brenda about his recommended service. I get a little anxiety when I have to talk on the phone, so I appreciated that he told who would pick up and also provided the correct wording for the service that I should use when talking to her. I'm surprised how much of a difference that small courtesy made for me. I immediately called, and Brenda was super helpful. I couldn't be happier!!! Our furnace and heat pump finally crapped out, leaving us with just electrical heat in the winter. Ouch!!! ($$$) I put out a call on Yelp, and within minutes got a ping from Scott. EXTREMELY responsive, both for the inspection and for the actual install. The installers were professional, no F bombs every third word like some clowns. Put down floor coverings to protect the floors and were careful to clean up afterwards. And the guys, even when alone, were happy to talk glowingly about their mom and pops company. That tells me a lot. I even got some good "on your feet all day" boot recommendations from Scott! The equipment works like a charm. Much better than my 23 year old furnace/heat pump combo on its final legs. While there are folks that are a bit cheaper with crap-quality equipment, you get what you pay for. The overall value was with these guys, and it was an easy choice.
