I had another company come look at the problem 2.5 weeks ago. I called them in the morning and the showed up a couple hours later. After looking at my HVAC, they diagnose the problem as poor air flow due to a dirty air filter. There was a fine white powder on the filter which made it hard to see the dirt. The white powder is a result of using a ultra sonic humidifier with tap water. They suggest to change the filter more often (every 30 days) and buy a different brand filter with a MERV 8 or 10 rating.

Now the previous evening, my husband contacted a large local competitor to check our HVAC system. Technician from local competitor came out and looked out HVAC system, didn't test any components and stated "our compressor was locked & leaking refrigerant and quoted my husband $6k to replace it or we can purchase a brand new HVAC system for $25k!!!" (NOT TRUE!!!). The tech even left our outside power switch unplugged so we couldn't test the system!! SMH!!! We won't contact them for any service ever again nor recommend them to any neighbors, friends and family!!! Joe K, Service Technician at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling contacted my husband within 20 minutes of him contacting the office the next business day and scheduled a visit that evening. He came out to the house, checked the compressor and quickly diagnosed the capacitor as the problem & replaced it. And Joe K. even showed my husband how he diagnosed the capacitor as the issue NOT the compressor leaking refrigerant as stated by local competitor!! No refrigerant leaking at all!! Compressor in good condition!! In addition, Joe K., checked the wiring, fan, all associated parts and cleaned our a/c unit. No issues at all!! Just some cleaning needed!!! HVAC in excellent working condition AGAIN!!! In addition, he checked our furnace, cleaned some our internal components and showed my husband some DIY things to do to maintain our HVAC system throughout the year!! Amazing work & Professionalism by Joe K!!!! I returned home from business travel to a COOL & COMFORTABLE HOUSE!!! ALL Work completed in an HOUR!!! As a frustrated owner of an older home, I have been experiencing the crazy, crazy cost of high energy bills from an older out of date HVAC system. My first thought was to buy a system that was larger with multiple speeds offering the highest SEER rating in hopes of bringing those bills down to normal. To make a long story short, I ordered the wrong system and ended up having to buy a second system that actually fit my space and current construct. AG came in, gave recommendations and replaced that old system with the new system as requested. AG went above and beyond to ensure that I was up and running as soon as possible.
