I had been a customer of ADT (now Everon) since 2009, a legacy customer they have acquired through various mergers. The quality of service and price led me to search for a more local provider. The will give you the exact equipment you need for your home and not upsell or over-secure your home, the monthly price is WAY CHEAPER than big corporate alarm companies, and when you need something you can pick up the phone and someone who you know answer and help you out. The monitoring relay runs through the same national provider that the big folks use and the equipment is the same that you can get from ADT or one of the big guys. Even among 5 star reviews, these guys are some of the best. I needed an updated/working security system in the house we recently moved into. From start to finish, these guys were great. They do what they say they will when they say they will and they respond to inquiries promptly and thoroughly. Their value, service, and responsiveness is top notch. N&D was able to use what I had in place for sensors (for the most part) and added and updated where necessary. Unfortunately, they had a supply issue which delayed my installation a couple months, but eventually figured out an alternate solution and the system got installed right after they got what they needed. I had a minor issue once installed which they fixed it a day later and I had one sensor they didn't have the tools to install with everything else. They said they would get it done in a couple weeks and did just that. I am really pleased with the overall experience and assume I'll need them to update/upgrade the system down the road if I am here for a while. I know it will be smooth sailing if I do. read more

N&D is a great, family owned security company in the DC area that was fabulous with myself and my roommate in moving into our apartment in NW DC. There was an existing, outdated system that they were able to use, which they updated for cheaper than reinstalling the whole thing, put alarms on every door and window, and explained to us how to use the corresponding app to set the alarm if we needed to be out of the house. Installation was quick, efficient, and when my roommate and I had a question they ALWAYS answered. The one time we had a false alarm (key mix up with the rental company) police were called efficiently, emergency phone tree was activated, and there wasn't a charge or issue on our end with the service. After a year and a few months, the only reason we are ending service is because we are moving, and we will be wholeheartedly recommending the company to the rental management company. I wanted to support a local company when I chose a security provider, and N&D exceeded expectations with their service. I could not recommend them more! read more

I recently bought a home in Fairfax and went through a rigorous process through the "big" players - from Vivint and Brinks and ADT to a handful of others. I spent hours and hours and always felt as though -- well -- something just wasn't adding up: too expensive, too unsure, wouldn't have a person to talk to, etc. etc. There was always "something" that seemed to miss the mark. On a lark, I Googled the name of the company whose sticker adorned my alarm panel "N&D". Well let's just say that was the best piece of luck I've had in some time. From my first interaction with Sally, everyone (Perry, Gary, Francisco) has been attentive, kind, timely, helpful, knowledgeable, generous with their time, reasonable, etc. The list goes on and on. They set me up with exactly the level of security I wanted -- not more and not less -- and didn't hard sell anything. When there was a suggestion that they thought might be useful, they made it, but again without any pressure. And their prices are SO REASONABLE. Use these guys instead of Vivint and save yourself a boatload on the front end and on the monitoring across time. It's a no brainer. After our neighbor told my wife that there was a stranger walking around the neighborhood and taking pictures of home, we decided that it was time to install a home security system. At first, I went the traditional route, calling up reps from the big national providers - ADT, and such. The two biggest problems with what these companies offered were: a) contracts that would lock you in for several years with steep monthly payments. I know based on my past experience how hard it is to get out of those contracts. The low monthly payments that these providers advertise will quickly go up as you start adding necessary features; b) expensive professional installation - they were asking hundreds of dollars for putting a few sensors and a control panel in place. I stumbled upon N&D Security on Yelp and decided to give them a call. I spoke with Perry and was impressed by the customer-focused attitude, quick turnaround on a proposal, and competitive pricing, without the long-term contracts. I recently purchased my first home in Washington, DC and I wanted to have a security system installed before I moved in the following week. I had a not-so-great previous experience with ADT but I didn't know any local alarm system installation companies. I contacted N&D Security for an estimate based on my research on Yelp. Gary was able to come out within two days of me calling to set up an estimate and completed my install a few days later (prior to my move-in date, as promised), along with Andy's assistance. Everything was installed quickly and they were very neat and tidy. Andy was even nice enough to help me change the faceplate of my thermostat once he finished the install, which saved me having to call someone else (I'm pretty handy but the millions of wires were intimidating). By way of update, I've had my system for about two months now and I was having a communication issue with monitoring unit and the iPhone app (did I mention you can set your alarm from your phone? Amazing). I called N&D to advise them of the issue and Andy called me back immediately. He gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him whenever I was home and available to troubleshoot the unit. Given my work schedule, this was at a very random time in the morning about a week after I called initially. He walked me through about 15 minutes of troubleshooting and was patient while I fumbled through getting the faceplate off and cycling both my wireless router and alarm system. Everything is working perfectly again. And, unfortunately for Andy, I've saved his cell phone number in my phone!
