The service over 10 years was fantastic. Fast forward, 2025. we decide to cancel partially financially but home up for sale and wasn't taking equipment with us. Called to cancel, they needed proof equipment was paid off for early buy out promise. We have email proof and provided by supervisor in email we could cancel no termination fees. Two months, no service turned off. We had moved to new place. We call back, we need proof. We did this already, but they say they don't have it but offer two months free hoping our buyer if home would want it. we say okay but if at the end of two months house hasn't sold, cancel. They did not and drafted out our account. We call back, same mess different day. We submit documentation and forward previous emails. Time went by, they tried to draft again but we removed auto draft. Sent bill with late fee. Get on phone again and here we are trying to cancel since September 2025, it's mid April 2026, still not cancelled and they refuse to give us the months back they drafted and saying they have no record of verifying our payoff of equipment or cancellation. So I will never recommend them ever because cancelling isn't option. Seeking legal action now. We have names of cancelling department, emails and proof of payoff. Do not use them. read more

My experience with Vivint Security has been extremely disappointing. I recently sold my home and moved into a rental property where I am not permitted to install the Vivint alarm system. Even though I no longer own the house where the equipment was installed and cannot transfer the service to my current residence, Vivint continues to expect me to pay monthly for a security system that I cannot use and no longer have. I contacted customer service hoping the company would review my circumstances and provide a reasonable solution. Instead, I received very little assistance, understanding, or flexibility. I explained that this is not a situation where I simply changed my mind or decided that I no longer wanted the service. I sold my home, moved into rental housing, and am unable to install the system because of restrictions beyond my control. Vivint has the ability to waive the remainder of a customer's contract under certain circumstances, but the representatives I spoke with were unwilling to help or seriously consider my request. It is incredibly frustrating to be charged every month for equipment and services that are not available to me. A reputable company should consider a customer's individual circumstances instead of hiding behind contract language and continuing to collect payments for a service that cannot be provided. The lack of compassion and practical problem-solving from Vivint's customer service department has completely changed my opinion of the company. Customers should carefully review every detail of the contract before signing, particularly the cancellation and relocation provisions. Life circumstances change, homes are sold, and people sometimes move into properties where installation is prohibited. Based on my experience, Vivint may still expect payment regardless. I cannot recommend Vivint Security. Their unwillingness to provide a fair resolution has left me paying for nothing and feeling completely disregarded as a customer. read more

This is my 3rd review about Vivint. My wife has been on the phone a minimum of 12 times. Probably over an hour each call. She has been told on sevral occasions that our issues have been resolved... lol. This company is trash, we have been trying to swap out our Upgraded panel (that we never approved) $900 charge to our credit card for our original panel that we bought and paid for. These guys are f..g clowns. We finally got one of their tech guys to bring back our old panel ( over 30 days to do so) and swap it out and now we have been waiting for customer service to send us a PU slip so we can return this and get our Fotiva card credited. We've literally gave been told 4 times they would email us the PU order. Im telling you these guys are straight up scammers, every single customer service agent. This situation is going over 60 days we have wasted 15-20 hours re-explaining the same story. On top of it this is hysterical, they replaced the panel and never gave us a new pin.... just another wasted hour of my life to get our system up and running. We were lied to over and over, beginning with the salesperson. He said there would be a small pin hole in our wall for the monitor to be mounted. He said we could try it for 30 days and then cancel with no cost and they would simply fill the pin hole and retrieve their equipment if we decided not to keep it. When we canceled the lies continued. We have huge holes in our door and interior and exterior walls and they offer no resolution. We just purchased our home last August and now there are holes all over our brand new home. I am afraid we may have to pursue this legally or make costly repairs ourselves. I have had this absolute garbage company for over 5 years now( I was locked into a five year contract). Their customer service/tech help is useless they have never fixed one issue I've had always just recommend rebooting the system wtf. Once my contract was up then the relentless sales calls for upgrades started. I was being informed my system was old and needed to be upgraded that why I was having issues lol!!!! I constantly still have buffering issues I can never rewind and find clips that I need to watch my pets etc. This has been one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, please stay away from them they are aggressive and don't care about you once your contract is up. Finally when I put the house up for sale I called to cancel the services completely. I was not moving to another house. I didn't know who was buying the house. I had no contact with them. This company charged me $117.34 without my permission, and this is not the first time. They even billed me for an additional device that I NEVER used, and their own technician can confirm that. Customer service is extremely frustrating. It's hard to communicate, and they keep transferring you from one department to another without resolving anything. It honestly feels intentional. I would rate it lower than 1, if possible. The previous owners of our home left a Vivint system installed, and the cameras whistle every time they detect movement. This annoys us, as it goes off even when bugs fly by, and it's very loud. My husband called to see about the cost of setting up service to use the system and turn off the whistle noise, but as soon as we decided the cost was too high and said no, it was like a switch was flipped in the representative's customer service. My husband asked him if there was any way to get into the panel to turn the whistle off, and Jake (the representative on the phone) said--in the most condescending tone that really took me aback--"Well, no. That's what you pay for service for." Imagine the tone you'd use if you thought someone was the biggest idiot in the world, and you'd have his tone. I've worked in customer service, and it's something I care about. This guy, Jake? He doesn't have it. By the way, he had no interest in helping or staying on the phone to answer any questions. Once we said no to service, he was done. (My husband had even said we might consider activating at a later time. Definitely not, now.) He mumbled something about transferring to customer service, didn't say, "have a good day," or anything...just left. Anyway, still stuck with the annoying whistle. Great. Vivint isn't the best home security system out there. Their customer service has really declined over the years as they've transitioned to mostly text-only communication. There are no reminder calls for appointments, and when you finally reach someone, they often focus more on upselling new products than solving your actual issue. I just wanted to fix a simple problem, but their priority seemed to be getting me to sign up and spend more money on upgrades. That's frustrating and feels like poor business practice. Since the first day I agreed to begin a contract with this company, it has been terrible. The salesman that assisted me sold me a dream which consisted of a lower monthly payment and that they would assist me with paying off my previous company. Their customer service is a 0% and all they do is commit fraud and scam their clients. They make promises and deliver nothing except higher charges. I now have two payments with them that come out to over $100 monthly. They detail it as I am paying for equipment and their services as a whole but somehow they are still robbing me on two separate occasions every month. They have many excuses and lies as to why my services are not meeting up to the costs. Beware of their salesman, they definitely know how to finesse and you will fight for days and weeks, even months, to get out of their contracts. We had their service for many years and when we tried to cancel I had to spend hours on the phone with multiple people telling me they would "do everything we can to help", but would do nothing. I have had time to think over this review. So it is not out of immediate emotion. I am HIGHLY dissapointed by just about everything associated with Vivint. If I were to name a few; - Invisible never mentioned fees that I'm sure are hidden in the contract. - Having to work with 2 separate companies for payments. Yes there will be 2 payments per month. One for services and 1 for equipment. -10% interest on the fat sum that they try and put you on a 5 year plan for - Constant faulty equipment that they charge you to send someone out to fix - Unpleasant customer service on the phone - They say they will buy you out of another contract for home security services AND give a referral bonus. Turns out that they dont buy you out. They just give you a temporary discount on one of their two monthly bills equal to the amount of your old contract. And they do the same with the referral bonus. I had a pretty good experience for most of my time, but then when their app was updated. A lot of my settings were erased. I didn't know that at the time and I started calling tech-support and there's solution was selling me. Updated camera and equipment for almost $1000. I was then advised to get the service plan and basically the tech Support were able to take a deeper dive into my issues and get my stuff working. These guys are trained to sell sell sell sell sell and not solve your issues with your current equipment. Be careful with calling tech-support, and their way of helping you is by selling you New equipment, especially when you're contract is running out soon with them. read more

The equipment sucks! it's constantly going offline or not working. The lag on the cameras is ridiculous. Were constantly having to reboot the panel because something stopped working randomly and even then rebooting doesn't help at all. Dont even bother contacting chat suppor. They will try to upsell you before even fixing the issue at hand and then??? Theyre gonna charge you a replacement cost over equipment that from the morning to the afternoon randomly stopped working. Example: This morning our front door lock was working perfectly fine. Left the house, locked the door, armed the house, no issue. Getting home in the afternoon the same day, the front door lock is completely unresponsive, not working at all. I go on the app which confirms the lock is "offline", I check the batte life? 80% I reboot the hub panel? Doesnt work. Now I'm having to crawl through a window that was, luckily, unlocked, just to get into my own home. I contact chat support and he deadass is only trying to upsell me the entire time telling me to get the "Gen 2" camera instead of helping me fix the issue just so they can take more money from me. THEN to make matters wors!!! He tells me I'm going to have to pay for a replacement!! What a fucking joke of a company. Waste of time, HUGE waste of money. I have turned in the policy to the 3 times. I have called them numerous times to come get this crap. They cancelled my policy and took the cameras offline but won't send a technician out to get these worthless cameras. They said on the 4th that a technician will reach out to me and here it is the 11th and still nothing. The quality of the cameras suck. They play back feature sucks too. Absolutely worst company. The sales rep lied and told me that the 60 month term was for financing the equipment. If I paid off my equipment, I could cancel my service at any time. Now, I am trying to cancel my service after I paid off my equipment early and they are saying I have an early termination fee (if it is true, they are also calculating incorrectly). Over the course of 2 phone calls, I have been on the phone with them for 3 hours. Twice the "upper" manager hangs up on me. They are also charging me fees that are not on my contract. Vivint continues to provide misleading information and inconsistent "customer service," After being told I would be sent keys to the smart lock a Vivint technician installed - but did not provide a key. Vivint sent a new lock with direction to either install it myself or pay for a technician to install . WHY the failure to provide keys to the lock I paid for is a mystery for which I have no answer. ViVINT SAID they would send keys for my installed smart lock. They did not! When I asked for return postage for the lock I did not request - crickets. SO! I am less secure as I have a lock without a key - and customer service continues to fail in its alleged commitment to provide quality service. This in addition to having charged me a monthly fee for coverage I did not receive - and attempting to offer "solutions" that would have cost more money and were not "solutions" - I find this company to be disreputable, untrustworthy and wholly without ANY commitment to provide appropriate, professional service to their customers. I will continue to post details of my journey to extricate myself from this "security" company that has NO commitment to the security of its customers. They are extortionate and play phone tag to the extreme. They pretend to call you back but there's always something wrong with the line. Then they tell you that you paid the wrong amount to close your account. I canceled in August 2024, just received notification that I have a past due amount. Not only have I not lived at the address, they have been providing security for the new homeowners - which makes me liable. Meanwhile, they're reporting you to the credit bureau. The absolute worst company ever with abysmal, incompetent, inconsistent customer service. Literally the worst experience. I'm filing a BBB complaint immediately and will caution everyone to stay away from this extortionate business. Bad service, no value, non responsive - bad form all around. The alarm system is if poor quality. By the second day my sliding glass door alarm does not work. I contacted the person that installed it, the person that sold us the system, and the company its self. To date, no one has come to repair it. I was told they would send me a new alarm to install myself. Mind you I'm disabled and I pay extra for their do call insurance policy to come to the house and fizz what needs to be fixed. Not only do I have a sliding glass door not covered by an alarm, the yard camera does not work either!!! Vivint parent company has adamantly refused to come out!!! This company is a scam! Vivint was the worst experience. Verizon had an outage. Everything in my home came back up except the Vivint panel. After talking to 4 techs for three days I decided to get out of my contract. Vivint was not able to connect their equipment. They refused to send someone to my house. It did not matter because I have had some to never show up. They wanted me to pay 99.00 to schedule an appointment. The customer service is horrible. I was on the for phone for 45 to 50 mins. This includes hold times. I was able to get out of my contract, never to have anything to do with Vivint. read more

The worse security system experience, EVER! I would advise taking your chances at being burglarized or killed by a home invader. Here is an abbreviated list of problems that we had with Vivint (by the way, we were previous subscribers to ADT without issues and currently enjoy Simply Safe which is wonderful). 1. equipment is very expensive & even installed incorrectly by the first technician 2. equipment is temperamental with constant off line and battery issues 3. you CAN NOT get a technician to your house without a literal fight (even with paying for the visit) 4. you CAN NOT cancel (it's like Hotel California....they simply don't want you to cancel and make it impossible to do so, I sold my house and no longer needed/wanted their service and in addition to then asking me to get the new owners to continue the service, they would not process the end of service even after SIX calls and assurances that it was canceled. Even today; 4 months after the initial call to cancel, I received a bill (including late fees) for over $100 with other fees indicating that they are still billing me for services. I've had Vivint for almost 6 years. Over the years I have run into minor issues that just were important enough to complain about. However, most recently I've been dealing with an issue that's lasted 10 months. No one seems to be capable of resolving the issue.
