Our security camera does not record 24/7 which is stupid. It only records when motion is detected and it barely does that. I don't write reviews, but this company's service and equipment are horrible and overpriced. I have to take the hit of not doing good due diligence. They expect you to be the technician. I thought I was purchasing a professional security system with top-quality monitoring. NOT!!! If you have time in your busy day to play technician with them (which you are not on the payroll for) while they have you troubleshoot your system with them on the phone. I could go on and on, but I'm not. Be forewarned!! For the amount of money I spent with Viviant Equip ($3232.96) and locked into a contract for 60 months @ 53.89/mo for monitoring ( don't let them get you there, be careful. Vivint is an awful service. They wired my house improperly causing my electric bill to be 3 times the amount and cause equipment to be faulty because of a poorly trained technician. Had my car broken into with the outdoor camera facing my car! Vivint offered me $25 for my inconvenience. Stay away! Once our contract is done. We are out! We tried talking to them to make up for all of their failure to maintain their promise of the contract. Which is PROTECT MY HOME and I didn't agree to have an electric bill 3 times the amount. Contacted sales associate, who transferred me to an account manager. The price did not change to agreed price. Don't waste your money I have had this Vivint Smart Home for 5 months. It is terrible. The thermostat shuts off in the middle of the night and my house is hot. It says the battery is dead every few days. I find myself replacing the batteries. The alarm doesn't go off. If I set the alarm and open the door nothing happens.The doorbell camera doesn't work. SOOOOOOO what is the point of me paying them for a smart system that is dumb. If you can trouble shoot yourself and it works you are the smart one! Beware of the Sales Lady aka the stalker. She originally came to my house and was speaking with my fiance in the garage as he was working on his vehicle. Going over her sales pitch. I came home from work and asked what she was selling she informed me it was a security system and they were some how partnered with ADT false. blah blah they could buy us out of our contract; she can cashapp me money today to sign up.(Why do you need to cashapp me money just waive the fee) Informed her I'm just getting in from work after listening to her for 20mins or her over talking me. I asked her if she could come back the next day after I looked up the company because I knew nothing about Vivint. We schedule a 6:30 appointment so the next day I came home at 4:30 my fiance informed be she came at 330 (Because she saw him pulling up) and he already signed up. So somehow he was missed informed and didn't know they were going to pull his credit which could've messed us up in the long run because we are trying to purchase a second property. FALSE ADVERTISING by the company via sales, phone rep, & commercial advertising. The equipment (video door bell) is not comparable to Ring as advertised. Vivint's door bell doesn't record conversations like ring & the zoom in feature on the video is trash (pixel & breaks up). Someone can easily break into a vehicle & not get caught. An accident occurred infront of my house (in an area that's normally picked up via door cam) nothing was filmed. NOTHING. Not even my neighbors & I walking around. It only filmed me walking inside of my house.A motorcycle hit my fence & it didn't record it but it records when a bird lands on that part of my front fence. I have been scammed out of over $700 for a system that is highly subpar to my previous ADT. They advertise that their door cam is the same as RING. That is a complete LIE. This is the absolute WORST home security service in America. They trick you into a multi-year loan with a clause that states that you have to keep paying even if their cameras don't work. And here's the rub, their cameras are always down. Over a 2 year period, we have had at least 6 instances where we needed the camera footage to share with the police to report vandalism that literally occurred in our backyard. The cameras failed to record every time. They make you pay for technical support, even if their equipment is at faulty. The customer service is awful and condescending. This company is predatory. I called Vivint because our home had much of their hardware in it when we purchased it. They sent a tech out to install a new control panel and set everything up. He left without completing the job (our front door keypad would not sync with the control panel) and said that he would return, and asked that I leave a 5 star rating for their service. When we never saw him again, I left a 4-star review because I was happy with what had been done, save the incomplete front door keypad. I then received a. All from the tech complaining that I hadn't left a 5 star review. I explained that I would have been perfectly happy if the job had been completed as advertised, and again was promised a return visit. There was no return visit. I called technical support at Vivint and requested another service tech come finish the setup, and was told that someone would contact me. Nobody contacted me. I called again to complain that nobody had ever come out to finish the setup and was told again that a third party installer would get in touch with me. Nobody contacted me. So I stopped making my monthly payment to Vivint, as I was not able to use the system as I was promised. Now Vivint has no trouble calling me regularly to remind me that my account is delinquent, and each time I answer and explain that all I want is for all of the equipment that we purchased to work as it was advertised. As soon as I get our equipment in working order, I'll pay for their service. But until then, I'm happy to pretend to pay for the service they pretend to provide. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone who values honesty, integrity, or service after the sale. read more

Rude, Lie, Bait and Switch A nice young man came a couple times through my neighborhood selling Vivint, He said many times "we do not monitor" we will give you new equipment for the right to put a sign on your yard, So later, when my wife an I were home at 7:30 or so, he sealed the deal at 9:30pm, BUT, It IS a 30 month Monitoring Package, and you can not Cancel without buying out 80% of the total, The monthly Monitoring is about 25.00 a Month, Way MORE than Ackerman. Worst Or all, The RUDE Part, 9:30 at night He INSISTED it be Installed THAT night, SO the installer came until 11 pm on a weeknight and still was not finished. My wife liked the bells and whistles, So I let her pay for it, Still I feel like a sucker for not kicking the nice young man out when he changed his story after an hour into the presentation. read more

Horrible experience. Been doing business with them for over a year. At first their very expensive equipment worked well. Now it's nothing but a nightmare. For the 80 bucks a month it's not fair and the equipment was 2k. I do not recommend. Also they have a long contract. 5 years. I remember when cable companies forced you to sign a contract. A fast talking salesman came to our neighborhood and talked my husband into trying this. When he talked to me, he said it would cost $34.00 per month, then when he talked to my husband, it ended up being almost $60.00 per month. The system is confusing and difficult to use, and when we cancelled within our cancellation period, they took it out but refused to restore everything to the way it was before they installed it. We still do not have a functioning doorbell because they disconnected the original one to set up their system, then refused to reconnect it. I see most of the other reviews also reference their poor customer service and fraudulent terms. Be very careful and stay far away from these people. FAR away! read more

For two years now this co. products (Vivint ) has never work properly with my existing Dsl service and has left me completely unprotected . The services are over price ,contracts are to long 5 yrs. and cost 65 per. Mo. ,and over 6 thousand dollars at the end of the contract, for cams thats down more then 95 per. of the time. When you call for technical support issues / they tell you that they need to send a service guy, who never in my area ,and almost always won't get there for 3 weeks! So, now you have to suffer with the your cams down and no way to see how's your property doing.... If you're reading this, run from this company like it's a snake about to bite you... there bite is worst then a snake ,because a snake won't charge you 6 thousand dollars for a piece of crap cams, and poor service. Also remember they or ADT won't let you out your contact if you're not happy with it... good luck on tring to get the high school / 1yr. College kids for your technical support, (they're not very good at the job) all they do is tell you to unplug the unit then plug it back in again. Glad I didn't read the reviews before I got this company because I have had a great experience. I initially went with ADT when I moved to D.C., however after trying to schedule with ADT and them messing up my appointment and not being able to show up weeks later, I decided not go with them. I called Vivint, hoping to have my alarm system installed before I went away for a couple of weeks. The customer service was great, they explained in detail what the contract was going to be before installing the system and were very friendly. The technician arrived on time and was very professional. He installed my system quickly and explained thoroughly how to use the system and the app. They even included a free glass break (which was going to be $250 from ADT) along with free automatic locks on my doors and indoor cameras. The installation was also free. The system has worked great for me and I am very glad I chose them to install my system. Thanks for an awesome experience overall! read more

I would rate 0 stars if possible. They are the worst. Vivint does not stand behind its product, which isn't surprising given that it doesn't work at all. My favorite example I've shared with them multiple times is that the camera system didn't even pick up when thieves were stealing items from my front stoop. Conveniently the system went offline at exactly the time when the theft occurred. (Keep in mind the system goes offline very regularly.) This detail continues to be lost on Vivint customer service. I'm also irritated that they have their CEO's Service Promise, which in acutality is completely bogus - just like their product! Don't get Vivint - save yourself a LOT of money and time and look elsewhere, because they're really just going to end up ripping you off with their expensive junk tech that will never work right. UPDATE: As follow up to Vivint's response/comment to my original post, I will make the point to say I have spent literally hours on the phone with their customer service, in addition to the multiple hours-long visits their techs have made to my home in a futile attempt to "make it right." Can I give a zero? Had the system 1 1/2 years. Problems started the first week. Thermostats have been replaced 4 times. Cameras have gone offline a couple of times, and having to get a tech out this week. Equipment is cheap and shoddy. Online/call-in support is 100% worthless -- people reading from screens. The home techs are actually pretty good. Oh -- one of the techs told me they not only recycle refurbished equipment (which they pass as new), they are told to use those first. This company is fraudulent! Long story short, I was quoted and signed for one price, but they are trying to charge me a price double than what I signed for. I did not receive MOST of the items promised but, my cost went up. I called to cancel the next day but I had to call 3 separate times because they refused to give me the answer on how to cancel the service. I had to make them aware I was recording the call for them to provide the info. Still, they tried to offer me a deal - $10.00 off of monitoring for one year but never addressing how and why my costs nearly doubled with less equipment. I'm still waiting for them to come get their equipment so I can move forward with another company. Classic bait and switch. Tell you one thing and change it with the hope you don't notice. Vivint provides good service for a reasonable price however, if you are using them to protect a 2nd home you may want to reconsider. They WILL NOT help you with a problem at your house unless you can be there at the time of your call. They WILL NOT dispatch a technician to your house unless you have first checked the system or issue yourself (physically been there to do it). So, as I have run into on several occasions, a sensor has gone bad or stopped working correctly at a house I have in another state. I cannot be there so they won't help other than disable a sensor or cancel an alarm. I have other homes with other systems where I know the service people and they will go and repair the system/check it out for me while I'm on the phone or available by phone while they are there. Vivint cannot do this. read more

DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACTS WITH THIS COMPANY. We were suckered into getting a security system with them in 2017 by high-pressure door-to-door salesmen. The equipment failed regularly (not picking up important motion detection from the wire-mounted camera, front door bell camera falling off) and were told we could cancel monitoring any time after our equipment was paid off. Per their own instructions, I sent them proof of equipment payoff and notice to cancel early February, yet they charged me again in March and still show my account as active. They have records of each of my 4 phone calls over the last 2 months (showing who I spoke with and the notes about cancellation) but continue to charge. read more

If you are using Vivint as a security for a rental property, I highly do NOT recommend. I have had Vivint since May of 2022, and at least twice a month, the system fails. Specifically, the code will stop working and rental guests will not be able to access the property. This means that regularly, guests will communicate that they are locked out of the home. If you are prepared to constantly have to respond to this at all times of day, then Vivint may not disappoint you, but if you are looking for a reliable security system that does its job, then look elsewhere. Also, the video feed will regularly stop streaming and you will not be able to see the cameras from a mobile device. Lastly, the security panel inside the home regularly disconnects from the wifi (Vivint will say this is a wifi router issue, but it is not, as the wifi works just fine for all other devices in the home and the wifi company ran tests to ensure the wifi was operating at the appropriate capacity and it is - this is just a tactic by Vivint representatives to evade responsibility for poor quality in services). Vivint is responsive in that they will send someone out to the home within the week, but the issue is never fixed. They have replaced my panel, rebooted the system, replaced the locks - nothing works, which means that the issues is with the quality of the system itself. Vivint, if the system were to fail and cause a breach of safety for the residents, you are looking at a lawsuit, particularly in my case where I have such a length history of communication with you regarding these unresolved issues. If you're looking for home security, try ADT. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

Below is an email I sent to the company today. Terrible service, I absolutely do not recommend this company. "I'm incredibly frustrated and disappointed with your company. On January 16th, one of sensors fell off of my window when I wasn't home which set off the alarm. I was never called nor were the police called. I'm a single mother so I'm very busy and I wasn't able to call about the issue until about 2 weeks later. At that time I was told that they couldn't see where the alarm had gone off (I took a screenshot of when the alarm went off) and to call back during the week to speak to someone from the loyalty program. In speaking to my friends and family, all of which have ADT, they pay almost exactly half of what I'm paying with Vivint and their alarm company actually works and does what it's supposed to do. Why am I paying for a service that does not even work? Why am I paying TWICE as much for a service that doesn't even work? I just called customer service again today and they offered to trouble shoot. My panel was restarted remotely then I was asked to unscrew the panel and remove a wire. The wire was not coming out despite several attempts. The rep told me that they could send out an agent at the cost of $50. Why am I being charged additional fees when there is clearly some sort of issue with YOUR equipment?? She said that the fee couldn't be waived but not to worry about paying up front because it would be added to the next billing cycle. Thanks.....that makes no difference at all. I spent 50 minutes of my life on the phone with this rep and absolutely nothing was resolved. On top of that I can't even switch companies to one that actually provides a service because after being in this contract for almost 2 years, I still have 19 months left. This has been horrible experience. We have had several incidences occur at our front door and in the back of the house, and none of our cameras pick anything up. We have to look at our neighbors cameras to see the activity going on outside of our own home. We are not being assisted or are able to get out of the several year contract. I was the one who wanted Vivint and thought the cost would be worth it and I deeply regret my decision. Willing I excepted Vivint's service for installation of produtcs: Home Security and Solar. Like most things we purchase, everything is gravy, in the beginning. Now I'm deeply into service and usage and have encountered a problem with Home Security. My sensor in basement has been going off randomly everytime I warm my house away My initial calls to Vivint became self service with Vivint on the phone giving me step by step instructions. Unfortunately for me, with no satisfaction of a fix. After multiple failures, by me, to solve my problem I asked Vivint to send out a service technician they never did and "flatly stated that don't provide service tech's for sensors, even after I told them I was a senior and could not do the work. Vivint went on to ask me if I had friends or family that would help? No, was my response. send me a tech. Vivint refused and clearly repeated that they dont send tech's for sensors. I expressed my disbelief and reminded Vivint that they have no problem with taking my monthly payments. I also expressed that I would pay for the service visit, but, Vivint still refused. I SAY THIS TO ANYONE THINKING ABOUT USING VIVINT OR ACQUIRING THEIR SERVICE...DONT!!THEY ARE THE WORST. With solar panels you will only see a Tech when Vivint has lost "usage" detection and he or she goes straight to your roof with no explanation.
