First of all, there was a wait for a table the day after Christmas! This is the first sign that this place is lit! The place was tiny and cozy. My friend and I didn't want to wait so we went straight to the little bar that was in the covered patio area- it wasn't bad. The menu had a wonderful selection of diverse Latin inspired dishes! Our server warned us that the menu items are a la carte so we were able to share. We got the 1/4 portion of cabrito, chickpea croquettes with a mango marmalade(to die for), rice, and jalapeño cornbread that had a beautiful subtle sweet taste! I thought that we weren't going to have enough food but surprisingly it was the perfect amount and we had dessert and drinks! Overall, the food and atmosphere was really great! One of my go to happy hour joints. The atmosphere is awesome since it's smaller, you can really strike up a conversation easily with anyone nearby. My friends from LA were in town and made reservations for dinner this past Friday. It had been a while since I came here so I was eager to go back. I remember it being a fun spot for my friend's birthday dinner I attended. But I don't remember it being so loud. It's a tiny place, and boy do they pack it in. Similar restaurants in the neighborhood are small but not as noisy. We wanted to order our food tapas style to share. My friend ordered the brussel sprouts, which were by far, my favorite thing on the menu. She also ordered the large of the mac and cheese, and the chicken wing. I ordered the vegetarian empenadas. We also ordered three of the four desserts. We had the Apple Crisp, the bourbon pudding thing, and I am sad to say I forgot the 3rd item. For our meals, I was shocked that the portion size was so small. Thankfully we had gotten drinks and apps at a different place prior to eating here but I would've been disappointed if I was really hungry. The desserts were really good. The 2 afore mentioned desserts were phenomenal. I do want to come back a 3rd time and try again. I do remember my first experience being much better. Stopped by for late dinner on a Friday night at 9pm and we had about a 15 minute wait. The place is definitely popular and quite loud inside, so loud that I could barely hear the server! Food came out fast & service was pretty good. Things we ordered: -Empanadas ($8)-server told us it was super popular, and it was good, but not great. I felt the flavors were lacking a bit & it was pretty pricey for two small empanadas -Side of mac & cheese ($5) yum!!!! I love mac & cheese & this didn't disappoint ;) -Small orders of the pork, the brisket, and the lamb ($7.75 each) Of all three I only liked the pork. It was super flavorful & moist. the small portion comes with 1/4 lb and it was perfect enough for me, but my BF thought it was too small and left hungry. we also felt the other two were just okay. Nothing special. This place is a little on the pricier side. It was great atmosphere with young people coming to hang out on a Friday night. Overall the food was decent. Every single thing we ate here was delicious. They can not take reservations so be ready to wait across the street at Los Chingones until they buzz you. This place is very cozy, loud, and trendy. Lots of opportunity to meet other people and they're mostly rather good looking. Our server was amazing and I wish I could remember his name now. We started with The massive attack salad and chickpea croquettes. I'm not much of a salad girl but it was an amazing melding of all of my most favorite veggies. (tempura broccoli WHAT, asparagus, spinach, cucumbers & parmesan) This salad blew the chickpea croquettes out of the water. For our main dish we split the roasted goat. The dipping sauce that accompanies this order will make you throw any reservations you had about eating a cute tender delicious baby goat out the window. Bring your vegan friends. I was absolutely ecstatic after only a brief read through of Work & Class' dinner menu, and my expectations were doubly inflated when I saw the type of reception the spot was getting on Yelp. I rushed out with my Dad on a Saturday early evening to experience things for myself, and while it was good, we both left thinking that it was just that: good. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Both the service and atmosphere at Work & Class are noteworthy, with a quick and attentive staff that manage the hybrid seating arrangement both indoors and outdoors well. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Work & Class ain't cheap, but it also ain't unreasonable. My father and I ordered the following: Peppers Five Ways: $14.00 Regular Mac n Cheese: $5.00 Short Ribs: $15.00 Quarter Pound of Braised Pork: $7.75 Quarter Pound of Brisket: $7.75 As you can see, it was a bit of a mixed bag price wise. $5.00 was an absolute bargain for Mac and Cheese, but $7.75 for a quarter pound of meat was absolutely absurd given you can get top grade brisket for $20.00 a pound these days elsewhere. I had mixed feelings about the pepper and short rib appetizers for $14.00 and $15.00 respectively, but none of this was enough to have me withholding stars though. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Our meal was, well, it was okay. The pepper appetizer was the highlight of the show without a doubt, with a nice blend of options for anyone who is pepper savvy. From there; however, things were less outstanding. The mac and cheese was a bit runny and weak in flavor, and both the short rib appetizer and the braised pork were surprisingly plain given their menu descriptions. The whiskey and coke beef brisket was good, although I'm not sure I could really taste either the whiskey or the coke. All in all a good meal, but not a great one. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Work & Class has a great vibe and a menu that's really out of this world - on paper. I had a wonderful experience dining here the other night. They do not take reservations so a wait is somewhat expected during peak hours but they take down your phone number and text you when your table is ready. I like this system because it allows you to wonder around RiNo if you want. Our wait was only estimated to be 20 minutes (7pm on a weeknight) so we got a drink at the bar. I got the cider on tap which happened to be a pear cider and was very yummy. After only 10 minutes I we got a text saying that our table was ready. Our server was very helpful in explaining the menu to us. It is designed to be family style, and with the meats and sides coming from each separately you have a lot of choice. My party of three collectively ordered the beet salad, lemon brown butter chicken, orange-apricot beef short rib, dirty rice, fried plantains, and their special which was some kind of brisket. We got the smallest size of all of these which ended up being the perfect amount of food to make us a little bit too full. All the food we got ended up being delicious, I get the feeling that you can't really go wrong with anything on this menu. The lemon brown butter chicken was definitely a highlight for me, as well as the fried plantains which were a the perfect balance of crunchy and soft, and sweet and savory. The bill came out to be about $50 (excluding drinks and tip), which I thought was super reasonable considering we were stuffed with high quality food. I could not have asked for experience here! The only downside to this restaurant is that I'm not sure I would bring my vegetarian friends here. They could definitely fill up on very good salad and sides if they needed to but their experience might be somewhat lacking. I know this is not the popular opinion of this place, but I have to say as a Floridian, I have had MUCH better Latin-inspired foods. We ordered a variety of meats. The lamb was cooked perfectly. The other meats (Goat, Brisket) were oily and bland. The tortillas were homemade and they were also a bit bland. The service was good for being super busy. I feel that for Denver, this is probably the best Latin-inspired cuisine you can get, however, this is definitely not a measure of Latin cuisine in America. OMG what a great place! The cumin lamb is delicious along with the pork and the brisket! The mashed potatoes with goat cheese is surprisingly good too. Throw in some plantains and corn bread and you have a sumptuous meal for family and friends. W&C is pretty crowded and it can be noisy when full but that shouldn't stop you from eating here. Great pairings with beer and shots of rum, whiskey, or rye. Superb food and great service in a downtown location. Loved this place and will be back soon! read more

The hubs and I popped in on a Sunday night before the theater. We luckily got a table because the place was packed. We told our server that we needed the bill with our food because we were running a bit on the late side. For drinks the hubs got an old fashioned and I opted for the pomegranate/cucumber with whisky. It was very good and perfectly refreshing. The food was incredible. The empanadas were so good we ordered another round of them. We also sampled the brisket, beans and rice and Mac and cheese. The beans and rice were so good that I would order just that and empanadas next time. Mmmmm. The brisket was really tender but there was a pretty decent chunk of fat that was in the half pound of meat that we couldn't eat. We're in love with their $5 half Massive salad (fried broccoli = yum), $5 sides (chickpea croquettes melt in your mouth), portion choice meats (had the beef short ribs... OMG tender) and $5 black lager! Happy Hour is 4-6, but you can get $5 beers and great small side plates anytime. Lots of options, so go go go. The space design is amazing from shipping containers, industrial old conveyor belts and wood. However, it's a little awkward for flow (we thought the bar in back was the seat yourself bar, but it is dining area seating... and the servers have to squeeze between the eat bar and dining tables as the food station is on one end of it. Space can feel tight. If friends are meeting you, come together at the same time or get a reservation... our poor hostess accommodated us perfectly among three different arrivals and moves) Be patient, the place was packed. Cute little restaurant near Downtown. (We were staying at the Embassy Suites Downtown on Stout, and this was a couple miles away... short taxi ride.) Anyways... this restaurant felt like a neighborhood hang out but was more than that.... the vibe was "hip and happening"... "quirky and cute".... "fun and flavorful"... ok, I think you get the gist. Their menu is set up to be shared but you don't have to. Since it was just me and the husband, we did share a number of things so we could taste test. What's great is that they have 1/2 sizes and you can get the meats in varying sizes too. If you're not really all that hungry, get the small size... if you're super hungry, get the largest serving. So, we shared: *1/2 Massive Attack Salad - great salad with all sorts of yumminess in it, and the kicker was the tempura broccoli that were like croutons *1/4 Lamb - served medium rare - had good flavor but it wasn't as tender as I was hoping it would be - in fact a couple of pieces were grisly *Cochinita Pibil (pork) - yummy... savory, pulled pork *Fresh Corn Tortillas - Great with the pulled pork... even better by themselves, I wanted to get another order of these but refrained *Fried Sweet Plantains - these were awesome... and they weren't greasy or hard like you might expect when you see "Fried".... they were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and the dipping sauce it came with was great... i think it was a chipotle sauce(?) *Rice and Beans - we were going for a whole "Cuban" type meal with the pork, plantains, etc... these were good *Cobbler - the offering the night we went was APPLE - it was very good but I'd classify it more as a crisp than a cobbler... it was super sweet... the "cobbler" part seemed to be brown sugar, butter and oatmeal which was crisp and crunchy. Oh and it was topped with homemade vanilla ice cream. YUM! We also enjoyed wines by the glass. They have a very nice wine list and it's great to be able to try a couple of different wines by the glass rather than having to buy the bottle. Ambience: We sat outside at the bar top that faces the sidewalk and side street. We didn't mind, and in fact, I kinda liked it since you could watch the people walking, riding, driving by the neighborhood. It was a different dining experience. The tables are pretty close together and the inside is pretty darn small. There was a bar inside that looked like it was the kitchen bar (where you could watch the kitchen) but that was all full. I think I might like to sit there next time. Service: Very Good. Jen took great care of us! Price/Value: IMO... I think it was a really good value for the price and quality of the food and wine. Pro-tip - many of the tables are family style, so get friendly or look mean! Staff is friendly and helpful and generally don't steer you wrong! The menu is by "the peice" - meat, side, appetizer, etc. Only cons are the seating - very very very close tables, it will be an expensive outing, but enjoy happy hour and the day! This restaurant is sinfully delicious and has a very fun atmosphere. Best dirty rice I've had outside of Louisiana. Lamb was to die for. My partner usually hates lamb but he was stealing bites off my plate here. Cocktails are amazing and strong which is great for the price. The people I came here with all had the carrot cake for dessert and even though I have celiac I had the most tiny little crumb bite and it was so good I got emotional I couldn't have a piece to myself. My partner has raved about that carrot cake ever since. This place is jam packed Thursday through Saturday so plan to come early. Get your name down and visit a bar across the street while waiting for a table. I've heard the wait can be as long as three hours some nights but it's so good people will wait. This spot gets a lot of hype and it deserves it. It is in a very hip part of RINO (down the street from Billy's Hot Dogs). There is street parking but no lot so Sunday evening was a great time to go. They don't seat incomplete parties and only only groups of up to 7. This is due to the smaller space of the restaurant. I like that idea as well as having community tables for people who don't mind sharing space. The waitress Jen was excellent. She gave us great suggestions for everything from drinks to appetizers and main courses. She was attentive and the other staff made sure we had water (served in cool tin glasses) as well as checking on us throughout the meal. I tried the Tart Pomegranate-Cucumber cocktail with whiskey. It was very balanced with some sweetness, some tart and enough whiskey to round it out. I could have had several of these but limited myself to one. For appetizers we tried the green chili cheese fries. The green chili was fantastic. The fries were good but could have been more crispy. It was a smaller portion but priced at $5 so no complaints. We also tried the blue corn empanadas, which were cooked perfectly and filled with cheese, corn and other vegetables and a dipping sauce. Two come to an order and can be cut in half to share amongst 4 people. For entrees I tried the fried chicken special, which came with three pieces and a buffalo dipping sauce. I didn't love the sauce but the chicken was fried well and pieces included a tender, drumstick and thigh/wing. My wife had the 1/2 pound of orange thyme rotisserie chicken. We went with the larger amount thinking we'd had leftovers. It was so good that we ate it all. Definitely a killer bird. For sides we had the chickpea croquettes, which were fried perfectly and some of the griddled goat cheese masa. This was good but I wouldn't order it again (my wife would though). We did try some of the Butterscotch pudding for dessert (served in a small mason jar) and it was BEYOND. Usually I have to eat chocolate to give a dessert the highest marks but that was just mouth smacking delicious. Definitely a must try and not overly expensive. read more

My husband and I just enjoyed Work and Class for the second time last night. I'm not sure we would have ventured out for last minute dinner plans on a Saturday night, but my kiddo had a last minute slumber party, so we quickly scrambled for some good eats. We had the roasted Colorado lamb, the monster salad (I don't remember what it was called), and the goat cheese mashed potatoes. The salad was really good (would love to recreate at home), the lamb was good, and the goat cheese mashed potatoes were SUBLIME. I also had an orange clove cocktail (which is supposed to be a cocktail). Pros: totally yummy food, including great cocktails, really nice staff, including the host staff (do you know how few places have a kind front host staff?). Small plates are great for trying lots of things and sharing. Cons: Food is served in little metal pie tins - plating isn't inspiring. It's a tiny place, they don't take reservations. Honestly, the only good food item on the menu is the meat. We got the goat, and it was delicious, but I'm curious how a less naturally-flavorful meat would come out. Everything else just doesn't have much flavor. My friend got a salad, and the broccoli in it came deep-fried without warning, so she couldn't eat a portion of her salad. My heirloom tomato salad came with a ton of croutons that wasn't listed in the item description (gluten-free, so that wasn't an issue, I just don't like croutons), so when I picked them out, I had maybe half a salad left. I bought one drink, and it was well made at least. The restaurant is small and crowded, so it is VERY loud. Do not come here if you don't enjoy yelling at your table-mates. read more

A friend and I ordered the small orders of: catfish, rosemary chicken, fried plantains, creamy greens, and chipotle mac and cheese, and they were phenomenal. They were "small" orders but for $5, I could not ask for anything more. We finished the meal with the carrot cake with goat cheese frosting and a pineapple reduction -- sooooo delicious. Best of all, the total food bill was $36! Everything about this place was so lovely - except the whole no reservation thing. We went at 6:30 on a Sunday night and had to wait 20 minutes for 2. The odd thing is, dessert sucked. What might have been good at an average place, sucked. Cheesecake, wouldn't recommend it. But the rest of the menu? Off the charts. Apps, the pepper plate, ranging in heat from mild pickled to toasty mild fire, amazing. The sausage with fresh sauerkraut, mustard, awesome! Main courses, pork carnitas, pot roast, rotisserie chicken, and roast lamb...holy crap were these amazing with maybe the lamb (hotly debated amongst the three of us) being best. Sided with tomato, mint, ricotta salad, and a fantastically simple Mac n' cheese...now in happy food coma, chased with reasonably priced wine. Happy place. I ate lunch at Work & Class and it was the best meal I've had in weeks. I ordered the lunch box (which comes with a protein, salad, and side) with the Ropa Vieja (Cuban beef), a spinach salad, and the cilantro beans and rice and it was some of the best Latin food I've ever had. Every element was delicious, perfectly cooked, and memorable. The Ropa Vieja was tender and perfectly cooked and the olive tapenade it contained gave it a robust and unique flavor. The cilantro beans and rice and spinach salad were equally as spectacular with their unique flavors and presentation. To conclude, Work and Class serves up some of the best Latin food in Colorado and if you have a hankering for Chipotle or any other Latin chain, I urge you to up your game and head down to Work & Class. Drinks: They didn't have the Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA so we got this instead: Station 26 Double IPA - this really surprised us with the west coast style but without the bitterness! very grapefruity hoppy smelling. Deschutes Obsidian Stout Nitro - loved the cascading effect!! it had very deep, roasty flavors of a standard, unadulterated stout. very creamy feel thanks to the nitro. Food: Chicken & gravy biscuit sandwich - it was like a cheesy gravy. the biscuit was pretty good (soft inside with a buttery surface) Pulled pork slider - reminded us of our own pulled pork flavor we make at home (which is dry rub with salt, black pepper & sugar), but a bit too salty for us? Chicharrones taco - my bf enjoyed this while I became obsessively addicted to the pork rinds! it went with the beer so well! My favorite meal in Denver!!! We read the reviews so we knew to go early. When we arrived at about 5:30pm on a Friday night the place was packed. We got a seat at the counter in front of the kitchen and had an amazing view! This is definitely the way to dine here! The chickpea croquette amuse bouche was delicious. Very creative. I also got the Peppers 5 Ways dish (bacon wrapped jalapeño, fresno poppers, grilled shishitos, pickled peppers, and pepper jam with gluten free bread) and LOVED it. So unique and playful, with all the flavor to boot. Excellent dish. I also got the 1/4 rotisserie chicken and the fries. They were also yummy and cooked perfectly. For dessert I got the butterscotch pudding after reading the rave reviews. The flavor was subtle and the texture was a little grainy, but I still enjoyed it. It definitely felt homemade and that's really the key. I wish I was a local, this would definitely be my favorite dinner spot. Street parking isn't bad, neighborhood is clearly up and coming, service is excellent, prices are a steal, and there is outdoor dining too. Would come back any time!! read more

My best friend was excited to bring me here on my several day visit with her. She was so happy that I was so impressed! The small space, nice decor, and friendly staff all added to the great food and drink. I love the small plates trend because it allows friends to share and sample more. My best friend, being from FL, loves shrimp and grits. W&C offered crawfish and grits. My bestie has only eaten crawfish once, and her experience wasn't good. These were pretty good though. And she said the grits were great, so I'd take that as some sincere gospel. We also had the blue corn empanadas. I've only ever had blue corn chips, but this was so good -- as was the spicy dipping sauce. For the main course, we had the braised short rib and the veg mix of Brussels sprouts and butternut squash -- both holy yum! We also had the mushroom risotto that was decent, but the risotto was a little too creamy, like they just used some cream of mushroom soup mixture. In retrospect, some potatoes would have gone great with the beef -- sort of like grandma's pot roast and potatoes. Overall, I was impressed and would happily return. read more

Unique, creative, exceptional. These are the words I am using to describe Work & Class. My wife and I had dinner there and the food and service was outstanding! This was our second time visiting Work & Class. The first time, we had appetizers: The Chicharron Taco and the Green Chile cheese fries, and they were delicious. So good, that we decided to visit a second time, and have proper dinner there. Our first course was the chilled carrot curry soup with coconut sorbet, along with the Seasonal Melon Salad. They were so good, we could have had 3 servings of each and called it a meal. For our main course, we had the Citrus Mustard Based Short Ribs, and the Coriander Roasted Colorado Lamb. Now, the way Work & Class offer these main dishes is they sell it by 1/4 lb., 1/2 lb., and 1 lb, and aside from the short ribs and the lamb, they also offer Pibil Pork, rotisserie chicken, roasted goat, and catfish. And I'll definitely be back to try them all. Their sides are just as good as the main entrees. For our dinner, we had the plaintains, and the cilantro rice and beans, and they were delicious! If I could have a meal comprised of side dishes, Work & Class is the place to have them! Work & Class also offers a great happy hour menu, and their drink specials are great, especially when you can have four different drink mixes, along with the liquor of your choice. We got lucky and rolled in right before the happy hour rush. My husband and I started with the pig in a blanket and the pimento cheese. The sausage used as the pig was SO good, as was the accompanying sauce. We've been looking for a place that serves goat and quite by accident found one! We ordered 1/4 of goat which was SO good along with the plantains. The plantains were the best I've ever had. They were like spicy, delicious candy. The sauce with the plantains was also good. So the dessert. Apparently the butterscotch pudding is their dessert claim to fame. I found it tasted burnt. Maybe it was just an off day? The fancy sundae was the winner for sure. Completely overpriced at $7 for the size but I could have eaten myself sick on it. So happy we got to try this place finally! read more

Great meal. Work and Class does not disappoint! My girlfriend and I came during happy hour for a late lunch. We got in at around 330 which was perfect time because we were seated immediately and halfway through our meal there was a line of people waiting and the restaurant was packed. We started with the pulled pork slider and the chicharones taco. Both we very nice. Between the two id prefer the slider but I'd definitely have all of it again. For the main course we had the brussel sprouts, peppers five-ways, duck leg, coriander lamb, and the citrus-mustard short rib. Can we summed up in one word, wow. My favorite would have to be the lamb. Perfectly cook and its bold flavors made it stand out above all else. If you haven't been down here yet you should definitely come check it out. Great decor and helpful, friendly staff. They don't take reservations and somewhat limited seating. The owner was extremely helpful and recommended the lamb and mac-n-cheese. the former was amazing while the mac was kinda bland. Mostly smalll tapas style plates so great for sharing. Everyone raved about the Empanadas but those too were just "meh". Brisket was also quite good. Recommended if you are doing a brewery tour nearby and can stop in for a small bite. read more

Came here tonight as my daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday, sat us way way outside in the fricken parking lot where it was freezing with no heater or anything! Went and asked to be inside as there was a 4 top available and the hostess and then someone who said she was the manager said we should have asked for inside and we would have to wait all over again at least 45 minutes or more after already waiting!! I said it was my daughters birthday and she never would have said ok to outside had she known it was in the parking lot and they should have been more transparent. She got extremely rude which I actually said she was being rude and I needed to make up my mind to wait or not!! Thanks for spoiling her birthday and us paying an extravagant bill amount to sit in a freezing parking lot!! Even Cart driver had heaters on!!!!! Never retuning!!! read more

This place is great and there are so many reasons why it continues to be listed as one of the top restaurants in Denver right now. The wait staff is on top of their game. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a friendly community experience with the chefs and the others at the bar. We learned from the staff that most of them have worked in numerous top restaurants in Denver and after years of industry experience got together to open Work and Class, hents the name. The food is delicous. It's mainly large tapas-style dishes to share. We enjoyed verything we ordered. There is a good drink list and wine list as well. The space is small, but lovely. I really enjoy the community type long table. There are also patio seating and neat chef-viewing tables and the bar. read more
