I'm not a huge meat eater so I was a little put off by the amount of meat on the menu. The meatballs as a starter were so good. We ordered the salad to offset some of the meat and it was SO boring and bland. Don't order the salad and just come here planning to eat no veggies. The brisket and lamb were also good main courses, but by this time I was meat sweats status. We enjoyed the mac and cheese, goat cheese mashed potatoes, and the plantains (a lot of cheese, I know). I didnt leave saying 'omg so good we have to go back' but it was fine. The highlight for me was the dirty gin martini. I had the house recommended gin and the martini was outrageous. I've been to Work & Class multiple times and the food is always on point. The service is always good and the servers are always willing to help. I've never had to wait for a server to attend to my needs. The drinks are always on point and I'm always happy to order another. One downside is that there is not a lot of table space. Also, if you're hoping to have a nice dinner with just a few friends, expect to share a table. The seating is community seating and on a busy night, the wait can last some time. Not a place for large groups unless you have already made a reservation. The prices are decent. For the quality of the food you are receiving, I'm happy to pay the price. W&C is on my list of places to eat and my favorite to tell people where to eat in the city. The vibe and ambiance are great. read more

Cool, chill vibe. Enjoyed the music selection. Waited about 45min for a table at 7:00pm on a Friday night. Tip: They have a $4 'Wait Drink'. Limited menu, but good options. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable service. Tried the lamb, chickpea croquettes and the brisket. All were good. The lamb was my favorite, served more on the rare side than medium rare. Not sure what the fuss is about here. I was not impressed and kinda frustrated. Only good meat we tried was the lamb which was great in flavor and was very tender. Otherwise everything else is just a mess! I think I was most annoyed by the ambiance of this place. Extremely loud and super crowded. Service was slow but friendly. To give an example how noisy it is in there: the waiter didn't take one of my order because it was so loud that he couldn't hear it! You literally have to scream on the top of your lungs to talk. I was starting to get a headache from the volume of this place. I guess the only way to relax here is load up with the alcohol! Ok if the ambiance is not my favorite, I can look past it for the food but nope! Food not the best either. After waiting what seemed like 45 mins for our food. We finally got to eat. We got the 1/4 lb goat and lamb. Very small portions but I like that since I can't eat much. We also got the rosemary vegetables which was nasty! It was carrots, daikon and celery root? And cook in the worst flavor! I usually love vegetables but this was disgusting! The goat was not good. I was looking forward to trying the jalapeño cornbread but the waiter said he didn't order it. He was very nice, ordered one right away and did not charge us for it. I couldn't wait in there any longer due to drowning headache from this noise but he got it take out for us. I must say the cornbread was decent. The service was great too minus the wait. For those who like to drink a bit and does not care for having a conversation, dining here would be ok. This place was 5 stars all around. Service - fantastic. Food - OUTSTANDING. We came in on a Saturday at 8:45 and were seated right away. We got the shrimp and grits (delicious. Perfect level of spice), the coriander lamb - SORRY LAMB CHOP. THIS WAS FIRE, the carnitas (very good, but not the best on our table), plantains - perfect blend of smoky and sweet. We had dinner plans for a comedy show up the street so we got happy hour appetizers and cocktails. The place was packed but still comfortable and the service was excellent. Our drinks stayed full and the food was delicious. I loved the Brussel sprouts and the sausage plate. The full menu looked amazing. Parking was not the most fun thing I had done recently and I would have loved not spending the time I had to to find a spot, but that's just RiNo at Happy hour. Not the restaurant's fault. I also saw a few friends I hadn't seen in a while in passing there. I always feel like that is a sign of a good spot when you find it independent of your friends, but accidentally meet them there. A few significant complaints: - The banquet seating inside is HORRIBLE. if you're sitting on the bench side it's almost impossible to stand up gracefully ... and I'm a pretty skinny guy. What the hell, man? - The AC was blasting on me. which would have been great if it was actually hot outside that day. - And the music was a bit loud for my taste. Something is amiss... we returned this evening for hh and were pretty disappointed. Service was... odd. We sat for about 15min before being approached and when we were approached, no names were given. Our plates were cleaned up quickly and we weren't offered anything additional. It was just... weird. The food was good (pot pie, tempura broccoli, and empanadas) , but the old fashioneds obviously had campari in them and were just not good. Strong, sure, but not good. This is such a cool place! I came here this weekend with my brother while visiting him in Denver. We had a couple people recommend Work & Class to us for dinner, and I'm so glad we listened. It's a great atmosphere, delicious food, and they have a great happy hour (and happiest hour!). We got the chipotle chicken pot pie, green chile cheese fries, spicy pulled pork sliders, and wisconsin mac and cheese. I particularly loved the mac and cheese and the pot pie. I loved the orange whiskey cocktail I had as well. We finished off a great meal with the butterscotch pudding. Delish! And our server was wonderful. Please do something better with the Massive Attack salad. Frying some broccoli doesn't make a salad great. I can do that $h!t at home. It was literally like eating greens from Costco tossed in flavorless dressing (that I could make at home by combining olive oil, salt and lemon) along with some fried veggies. If you like your drinks heavy on the mixer side and less on the booze side... order up one of these little Shirley Temples. If there's bourbon in the recipe but I see what's in the glass isn't a dark shade... then you immediately know there ain't much shine in yo drink. Last rant... the place is very small. Beginning: you're a fool if you don't sit at the counter during happy hour. The staff is very attentive, and have great recommendations around the board. They offer little bits and pieces to sample of you're indecisive. The drinks were made well, and all dishes that I tried I was very impressed with **get the pulled pork with the fries, delicious. I'm excited that Work & Class has joined the Denver dining scene and is bringing something new to the table. A few tips from me to you: -No reservations, get there early or be prepared to wait -Happy Hour is 4-6 Tuesday - Sunday -Everything is a la cart, proteins and sides alike -The lamb is divine (when I dream I dream of lamb from Work & Class) Service is exceptional, our server was honest about his personal favorite dishes and eloquently described each dish in detail to help us determine what dishes we would like to order. His description of the Poblano "Mac & Cheese" was especially helpful since it was not a traditional Mac & Cheese and the explanation he provided helped us make an excellent decision to give it a try. The menu changes often but I think there a quite a few staples that will remain on the menu for the long haul. If you like lamb, the Coriander roasted Colorado Lamb is not to be missed, cooked medium rare (a little more rare than medium) the flavor of the lamb and the seasoning is exceptional and next time I'll order a 1/2 pound all to myself instead of sharing 1/4 pound with the BF, I'm not sharing this dish again. Sharing is not caring when it comes to this dish. The Massive Attack salad is a fresh way to start the meal and get your daily dose of vegetables. I hope this salad remains on the menu, because every time I make a return visit I want another one of these salads just so I can salivate over the preserved lemon vinaigrette. Other winning dishes include the Roasted Goat, the Blue Corn Empanadas, New Jersey Meatballs, and the Poblano Mac & Cheese. I see a couple new additions to the menu that I'd like to try so I think a return visit is in order very soon. Holy crap this place is good! We ordered: the peppers 5 ways green chili cheese fries HH tacos pulled pork and slaw goat jerk chicken short ribs mac n cheese braised greens Brussels sprouts jalapeno corn bread butterscotch pudding carrot cake Everything was delicious, but our favorite apps were the fries and the peppers. Our favorite protein was a tie between the pork and the short ribs. I actually tipped the bowl and drank the rib sauce. I'm classy like that. The port is definitely lighter, if that makes a difference. Our favorite side was the braised greens, but they were all delicious. The cornbread had that lovely crust and was perfectly moist. Dessert was a tie. It depends on whether you want something creamy and smooth, or cake. The goat cheese cream cheese adds a twist. If you don't like goat cheese this is not the dessert for you. The staff was awesome and so were the beverages. I always love a good limoncello. There is parking behind the building and in a lot next door. Great food and ambiance at Work & Class. We had a party of 4 and sat on the patio. The restaurant is family style, so we ordered a whole chicken with the lemon brown butter, one catfish, and a half pound of lamb, as well as the full massive attack salad, a large side of mashed potatoes (menu says smashed but they are very much mashed), the large pork belly greens, one cornbread and one goat cheese masa. Everything about the food was great, however it is pretty heavy, so come with a big appetite and an empty stomach. The boys were complaining a bit because the potatoes were called 'smashed' potatoes but they were definitely standard mashed potatoes; still tasted good. Our favorite thing all around was the lamb. It was cooked perfectly and came in small pieces so that we could just scoop what we wanted onto our plate. The drinks weren't anything special, but I did like that you could customize them by basically ordering the drink you wanted and specifying what type of liquor you wanted in it. What a great experience! Stopped into Work & Clas on a Friday night around 9:30PM with some of my friends. Short 10 minute wait for a table so we grabbed a cocktail at the bar. The drinks were awesome! We got the blue corn empanadas as an appetizer. Try these, they are great. For entrees we had the brisket, chicken, and the lamb. In order the lamb was probably best, followed by the brisket, with the chicken in last. We got the "spicy" chicken.. they were not kidding! I was the only one of my friends that could eat it, though it was quite tasty. We got brussels sprouts, mac n cheese, and dirty rice for our sides. All three of them were awesome, though that dirty rice was on another level. For dessert we had the carrot cake. This was really leveled up by the use of cream cheese in the icing. Can't recommend that highly enough. Definitely check this place out, it was great. Service was prompt and friendly. Besides Elite Yelp events, this was probably the best dining experience I've had all year! Yes, there is a wait, yes, the place is tiny (no tables of over 7 allowed- ever!), but yes it is worth it. Here is what we got: a few really good cocktails, some wine, the Halibut Ceviche appetizer, 1/2 pound goat, 1/2 pound braised pork, 1/2 pound lamb (my FAVORITE), plantains, their famous chickpea croquettes, and some sort of chocolate tart. I have honestly been waiting for something bad to say, for something I can rip them about, or complain so I am not just sounding like I am on the band wagon, but I can't! I l have got nada, nunca, zilch, nothing but praise and elation for Work & Class. But there's a long wait, you may ask-- and what about how crowded and noisy it gets you may wonder...? Truthfully if you want to experience their great food, amazing, service, and really fun atmosphere-- then you will just suck it up and wait!! If you're noise sensitive bring ears plugs!! A word to the wise, either go early or, simply put on your name/# and someone will call or text when your table is ready. Problem solved yeah...? Here's more options: hang out and have a pleasant conversation with your dining mate while you wait, squeeze in at the bar (which btw- is my favorite spot to dine) have a drink or two, or wander aimlessly until it's your turn. If you're willing to eat outside those tables open more rapidly especially in the winter months as only the brave enjoy the well heated covered patio. Now a word on the fantastic bar tenders-- Max & J.P. Those guys are great!! So great in fact that your lady friends could easily just start taking off their clothes... Opened early 2015, the Mexico native coming to Denver by way of Southern California nearly twenty years ago, Rodriguez's story is one of hard work yielding great rewards in a career that moved from dishes to short-order to a prominent place in the group behind Rioja, the jump to her own restaurant within a converted shipping container speaking to the sort of determinaion that now allows her creative control of a menu that changes frequently, though comfort food with a Latin twist always remains the goal. Buzzing from the hostess stand all the way to an enclosed patio, the kitchen one of the most rapid-fire I've ever had the opportunity to watch as Dana herself works the line intermittently alongside two Hispanic men and one Caucasian lady, Work & Class Sundays feature Fried Chicken in addition to the braised meats, sides, breads and salads but trying best to sample a wide variety without overloading a four-course progression was selected, three quarter-pounds of protein paired to housemade bread plus one side and a duo of desserts. Obviously preparing some elements in advance, the convection oven used to heat breads and the chicken while a grill and stove were used for made-to-order or braised fare, a small amuse of panisse kissed by pepper jam proved an amicable greeting and soon served a bowl of goat stew with vinegary broth made for sipping suffice it to say that the housemade masa is an inspired pairing, each bite entirely appealing on its lonesome but all the moreso when folded into a toothsome taco as the lean meat found a new level of richness atop the lightly melted cheese. Deferring to the server for round two, both the roasted chicken and pork considered but the Whiskey and Coke Brisket suggested instead, those fancying fattier cuts of beef would be well advised to consider this preparation even though the flavor of the meat gets a little lost in the marinade, each bite featuring melt-in-the-mouth texture while the accompanying cornbread is slightly dry yet toothsome and not particularly hot. Served a creamy side of risotto that unfortunately fell a bit flat in terms of earthy tones and spooning it slowly as the final savory round was prepared, I knew from the start that Chef Rodriguez's signature lamb was a destination dish before even entering the restaurant and although expectations were high they were nonetheless exceeded each bite of pink flesh nicely accented by the coriander without ever compromising the animal's characteristic funk. Underwhelmed by the biscuit, a decent showing but unfortunately masking the cheddar with too much a vegetal tone, it was after a somewhat lengthy delay that the server returned to drop the check off but suggesting to him that I'd like to order dessert I was met with no resistance, a thimble of Butterscotch Pudding with whipped cream and almond brittle tasty but not showstopping with plenty of room leftover for steamy Bread Pudding speckled with pears and a scoop of Vanilla Bean ice cream slowly melting on top. read more

The hardest thing in the restaurant business could quite possibly be expectation. I can't count all the reviews that are mediocre of places because the bar was set so high. In this case, it's not just friends but magazines and national lists of best restaurants. What I was warned of going into this place was that there are no RSVP and that it's noisy. I was told the food was absolutely amazing and worth the wait. What we did was get there at 5PM on a Saturday because we had a party of 7. Long story short, but after a couple push backs, we were seated at exactly 8:45PM. Do the math! And now do the math on how much you can drink during that time as we went brewery hopping while we waited! What I personally loved is how small this place was and the loudness just added to the energy. In fact, I thought the noise level was about perfect but I could see why people would think it was loud. I did not look at the menu nor read any reviews nor hear anything about the specifics of the food before I got here. As a result, the waiter helped answer a few questions and I ended up with: shrimp and grits, sweet plantains, lamb and short ribs. The shrimp and grits came out first. I was slightly skeptical because nine times out of 10 they are a disappointment. Let me just tell you if I had known what I was getting myself into I might have ordered 4 orders of this dish! Quite simply the best grits I've ever had, period. The plantains where the next highlight. I love them and I'm picky about them and I don't know how someone could screw them up (i.e. should be an easy dish to make). These guys somehow elevated these to a whole new level and I'm not sure how they did it, but it just happened. I was not thinking lamb but the waiter insisted. I thought it was good and I was very happy when I tried it but that ended when I tried the short rib because I felt the short ribs blew the lamb out of the water. This is not to say the lamb was bad because at 99% of restaurants I'd be raving about it. It's just that the short ribs were just that amazing! And I loved the short ribs this much and they couldn't hold a candle to the shrimp and grits. There you have it... 4 different dishes, all were off the charts. The restaurant has a cool post-industrial vibe, but the tables are cramped and the space is extremely loud. We started off with some house cocktails and they were superb. Located next to Bazaar we stopped in there for drinks before due to a small wait for Friday night. But they texted us as soon as our table was ready which was about 25 minutes. The menu goes like this: Apps Meat Choice of trout, brisket, chicken, goat, & lamb: prices vary depending on portion sizes of 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb and 1 lb. Sides Three of us shared: Massive Attack Salad (half) $6: the broccoli tempura was brilliant mixed with fresh greens, avocado, feta and lemon vinaigrette. Meatballs $9: AMAZING! Served over a tomato parmesan grits seemed odd but such a remarkable and complimentary pairing. Brisket $14.75 (1/2 lb.): a tad dry but bbq sauce was good and tangy. (Being from Tx, I have high expectations about my brisket) Mac n cheese $5: you don't find many places that serve shells so that was an interesting take. Hubs and I loved this place! If we lived closer, I think we'd be regulars. They'd know us by name. They'd save seats at the bar for us, knowing we'd be walking in and wouldn't want to wait to eat the delicious food. We came in during a downpour on Sunday. I'd seen the lines form so I wanted to make sure we were there right at 4:00. I honestly think the only reason it wasn't exceptionally crowded was because of the rain. Anyhoos, I started out with the spicy basil + tequila and I liked it. I couldn't detect too much of the basil, but it was similar to a margarita. Hubs had the Yucatan Orange Clove + Whisky. It was a bit sweet but it was happy hour, after all. (Cocktails are $5 during HH.) We also tried a bit of the HH fare. The Green Chile Fries ($5) and the Chicken-Poblano with Gravy on a Biscuit ($4). Hubs raved about the biscuit. The fries were good too. Honestly, their food is so well-priced, HH is really just a savings for your drinks. I switched to their house wine which is a syrah and it was smooth and pretty good. Then we dove into the regular menu. We had the Blue Corn Empanadas, Chickpea Croquettes, Massive Attack Salad, and the Lamb. The blue corn on the empanadas is so fresh- incredible. Hubs was skittish about the innards (veggies and such) but they were delicious. The croquettes had a great crunchy outside- I was amazed that all of this was gluten free- but I did find them a tad mushy in the middle. This may be how they are intended; I just wasn't a fan of that texture. The Massive Attack Salad is AMAZING! We actually ordered it minus the tempura to keep it GF and it was still incredible. Up until that point, it was my favorite thing of the night. Garlicky and packed with spinach, broccoli, asparagus- tossed in lemon vinaigrette- fantastic! Like I said, my favorite thing...until the lamb graced our table. Wow. I think it may be the best lamb I have ever had. We only ordered a 1/4 pound and though we were full, we probably could have plowed through another because it was so incredible. Perfectly cooked, crusty outside and tender inside, unbelievable flavor. Do yourself a favor and just get on over there right now. Arrive early. And ask for a side of the buffalo hot sauce. EASILY one of the top meals in Denver. The food is AMAZING, imaginative, well-executed, and FULL of flavor. The meats are SUPER tender with tremendous flavor. My favorite was the short ribs, but the braised pork were a huge hit at the table. By the way, if you've never eaten goat - TRY IT HERE. Surprisingly clean flavor, great texture and well-paired with red chile. Not gamey at all. I have to say though (my try or die list): - Sweet potato and bacon hash - WHAT-THE-HELL SO GOOD. - Meatballs - Best in town. No lie. Even better than Luca. My husband (a man with decidedly simple tastes), my boss (a vegetarian), and I came here for dinner last week after reviewing a laundry list of menus to find a restaurant that accommodated everyone. We wound up seated at one long table with lots of other guests, which was a new experience, but not a bad one. After perusing the menu, we wound up splitting a handful of things family style: - Peppers five ways (delicious and delightfully varied) - Wisconsin cheddar mac & cheese (holy god this was so good we got a second order) - Green chili cheddar biscuits ($4 for a single biscuit is insane, but tasty nonetheless) - Blue corn empanadas (good, but nothing to write home about) I legitimately meant to order meat, but the appetizers and sides were so good that we just never got around to it. House cocktails are also creative and delicious. In summary, the place is undeniably overpriced considering the portions, but the atmosphere is super cool and the food & drinks are all worth experiencing. If you're in the mood to splurge and branch out, this is a cool concept, done well that's worth your while. Pro tip: This place gets crazy busy, so expect a wait. The good news is that Death & Co. is right across the street to fulfill all of your hipster cocktail needs while you wait for your "table's ready" text from Work & Class. I'm pretty sure I'll have to hide in my cave after giving Work and Class one of its only 2. Came with a friend last Friday at 7PM and we expected a wait. I was told 45mins. I completely understand they were really busy but we waiting about an hour and fifteen minutes for a table. I did semi appreciate the gave us a free appetizer for the hassle. I had the strawberry rhubarb with tequila which was quite enjoyable, no complaints there. The food was good. Shrimp ceviche was excellent and fresh. The beef empanadas were over done and a little burnt, bummer. The lamb was cooked and seasoned well but luke warm at best as was the cold creamy greens. Polenta was on the money, hot and delicious. Overall for the wait and half of our food luke warm at best, I'd wait a little to head back here. read more

I really enjoyed Work & Class! Good atmosphere and very attentive staff. The food? Hands down great. Came here with my boyfriend for HH/early dinner. We got drinks and started on a few dishes on the HH menu, chicharron taco and a pulled pork slider. The chicharron was great and the pulled pork had a nice sauce to it that I really liked. For the rest of our meal we got the peppers five ways, Brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries, 1/4 of the coriander roasted Colorado lamb, 1/4 citrus-mustard braised short ribs, and Apple cider confit duck leg. Yes I know, a lot! No regrets though! The peppers were so delicious, some peppers were hotter than others so I would suggest the hottest ones first (the fried and bacon wrapped) and calm down your palate with the milder ones. The Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries were great; nicely cooked and well worth it. They give a huge serving of fries btw! For the meats, the short ribs were very tender, loved it! The lamb was a bit tougher than I'm use too but the coriander was wonderful with it and just put it to the top. The duck leg was one of my favorites, especially the crispy skin that held the flavors of the sweet Apple cider sauce. Superb! read more
