Collagen Gomtang-Korean Beef Bone Soup 韩式胶原牛骨汤
Stephanie Y.

Cute little Korean spot in Flushing that gives very traditional, homey energy! Space is small but cozy. Got the collagen gomtang which was so good, and my friends got the galbi tang which they also said was good. Each soup comes with rice and your own individual portions of banchan and seaweed, all of which were tasty. Portions are pretty hearty and they're generous with the meat too, which is always appreciated. Service is very friendly, just a little slow - you'll need to flag someone down to get your banchan refilled. Still a hit overall and would def come back!

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 5 Overall: 6 Everyone seems to love this restaurant and therefore the Yelp rating. However, I have been here on several visits to try almost everything on their entire menu, and have not been impressed much. That's not to say that their food is bad, just nothing special, especially for the higher than average price tag. Here is a list of items I have tried on their current menu items and my take on each. Sogogi-Gukbap (5/10) - I did not find the beef tender as described, they were more lean and dry. The beef broth is light and less flavorful than most Korean versions I have experienced. Galbitang (4/10) - Very familiar with this soup since I order it often no matter where, NYC, LA, South Korea, etc. This is the only place I know that use the end of beef bones (much cheaper cut) instead of beef short ribs (as indicted) for the soup. As for the broth, l found it similarly bland like the Sogogi. Collagen Gomtang (7.5/10) - This is my favorite item here. Due to the richer and more beefy broth, the flavor of this soup is way better. Still not necessarily better than my favorite spots in NYC, but good. I love the perfectly cooked cow's foot and tendon in the soup, but the chunks of lean beef are whatever. Lava Rock Cheese Tteokgalbi (7/10) - These are clearly a modern take on a traditional dish. I don't love them, but they are not bad. Nice crispy crunch with cheese and meat inside. Hard to go wrong. Suyuk (6/10) - As far as I know and have tried in the past, this dish is traditionally made with pork. Usually super tender and moist. However, Woodam uses beef, which seems leaner and drier than my previous experiences. Considering they have such a small menu and specializes in only a few items, I expect more tbh. If you know Parksanbal, then you know what I am talking about. They have done one soup (spicy and not) for decades and I'm still craving it regularly. Unfortunately, Woodam just doesn't hold that kind of place in my mind.

Such a hidden gem in Flushing! I genuinely had to double check that I was still in Queens because it felt like I had somehow wandered into a cozy little spot in Manhattan. It was indeed a verrrry hot day so I appreciated how the AC was absolutely blasting. I almost did a double take before walking in because I genuinely cannot do hot soup in this weather if there's no AC. Thankfully, it was nice and cool inside, which made the meal that much better. Everything was so thoughtfully done. The banchan were dangerously good (I could've kept eating them forever), and the collagen gomtang was rich, comforting, and perfect to share. My friend and I split one bowl, and they still brought us two bowls of rice, which was sooooo thoughtful. The staff is amazing. My friend and I definitely got carried away catching up, yet not once did we feel rushed. Instead, the staff kept making sure we were comfortable and even offered us more banchan. That level of hospitality is so rare and honestly made the entire meal feel extra special. Also... please do yourself a favor and order the Jeju Tangerine Fizz. It was hands down one of the most refreshing drinks I've had this summer and paired perfectly with the meal. Amazing food, incredible hospitality, icy-cold AC, and an experience that made me want to come back before I even left. 1000% recommend!!!

Picked the perfect restaurant for the rainy and chilly weather today. Just had a facial and of course, had to order the collagen bone soup that was simmered for 12 hours. Took a sip of the soup and love how the soup is so flavorful and sticky. A true sign of "good stuff". The soup comes with rice and a bunch of banchan. No matter how cold it is, ordering a Kloud to go with the meal is a must. It even came with a frosty mug. Bonus!

I visited with my unnie on a Tuesday night for dinner and we were seated right away. Service was professional, friendly, and efficient. I ordered the sogogi gukbap (beef and rice soup), cheese tteokgalbi (deep fried beef/pork meatballs stuffed with cheese), and Jeju Tangerine Fizz drink, which I added some Saero soju to. Everything was SO delicious! I loved the cheese tteokgalbi, which were even better with the rosemary lime aioli dipping sauce. The gukbap had a strong, savory broth and rice came on the side, so I enjoyed dipping it into the soup. The beef was cooked perfectly. Our meals also came with plenty of banchan, and the baechu kimchi had a slightly sweet flavor that I enjoyed quite a bit. Woodam advertises as "Korean comfort food," and that's exactly what you'll find here. Korean soups are so comforting, and everything we had was 5/5 perfection!

The food is healthy, and the portions are fair for the price. However, it lacked seasoning and was a bit too bland for our taste. On the bright side, the staff was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. Love the drink!

It is a small store with rich flavored food. I rarely find Korean beer Kloud anywhere else, and finally I tried it here. I ordered collagen gomtang. The soup came in white and dense because of slow simmering beef bone. There are a lot of leg bones inside that good for skin and joints. I definitely recommend it and will come back again!

I was looking for new spots around Flushing and Woodam immediately caught my attention. I saw soy marinated crab on the menu and my eyes lit up, but it's currently out of season. I'll be back for that. What I ordered: - Collagen gomtang (Korean beef bone soup): Very good! The beef ribs were extremely tender. The broth was clean, clear, slightly oily, and overall very comforting. Must try! - Oxtail & short ribs jjim: Generous portion size. We went with the soy garlic glaze, which was decent but the flavor profile was very mild. I would have preferred more sauce for a richer taste. The meat itself was very tender. The banchan is unlimited, which we loved. The black fungus and spicy cucumber was my favorite. Servers were friendly and attentive throughout. Overall, a solid experience. I would recommend it and plan to return. :)

Sogogi - Gukbap

So delicious! They don't take reservations but overall service is really fast and if you come for an early dinner (around 5) there will most likely be seats. They start you off with barley tea and water, and we also got the jeju mandarin fizz which was 5/5 delicious - not sweet at all, fizzy, with a nice iced sorbet situation going on at the top. Here's what we ordered - Lava rock cheese tteokgalbi (5/5): so delicious and not heavy at all if you're worried about that. It was surprisingly not oily, the meat was plump and juicy, and there was just the right amount of cheese. The dipping sauce was also surprisingly light and complemented the dish well - Collagen gomtang (5/5): wow this soup was so flavorful and had so much depth. The meat was so tender too - Gukbap (4/5): I loved the veggies and glass noodles in this one, but the soup itself was on the salty side, a bit salty for me Unlimited banchan refills and the kimchi was some of the best I had!

Excellent food and service. I ordered the tangerine fizz and collagen soup. The fizz was perfect on this hot day. Very refreshing without being overly sweet. The collagen soup was flavorful and very hearty. The ban chan was good too. My favorite was the kim chi and the macaroni salad. The rice cake was good too.

Genuinely thought that Woodam had serious potential to surpass Parksanbal, given their slightly more expansive but still specialized menu, fair prices, and their really aesthetic restaurant. However, after coming back to dine, I can see where they're just falling short. My fiance and I ordered the spicy gukbap, which is the same thing we got the first time around. Here's the thing - it's still good, but there's something about the soup that just lacks depth of flavor. I can't quite figure out what it is, but the overall broth is just very one note. The toppings have also changed a bit - there's less beef slices and just more tendon. Banchan here is still decent, but the flavors were quite muted and didnt' help much with changing up the flavor profiles. Prices have gone up a bit since their opening a year ago; the gukbap is now around $18.50, or $2 more than before.

Sogogi Gukbap - Spicy
Amina B.

We came in on a rainy day and got the Sogogi - Gukbap (Spicy) and the Collagen Gomtang - Beef Bone Soup. Both dishes come with a variety of sides and they are also served hot and hit the spot on a rainy day. The place is clean and new and the food service is fast and friendly. The amount of food was worth the price. Would recommend and come back again.

With the exception of the dirty spoon, dirty table, and undercooked rice, this place has real potential.

Cuisine: 5 Service: 5…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 7 Overall: 6 The short answer? The food is alright. The service is average too. I came here a few times because they have a precious parking lot. However, I wish they could improve upon their food a tad. The namesake tofu stews all lack depth of flavor and the quality of tofu feels underwhelming. Their accompanying steamed white rice also tastes too firm and not glutinous enough. Together, this restaurant does not make a better soondubu than most of the Korean restaurants around, even though they should specialize in it. Also, they don't offer much in terms of banchans, which seems like a common trend in many Korean restaurants. On the other hand, I would say that their Grilled Mackerel and Grilled LA Galbi is decent. Not good enough that I would go here for those dishes because I have many options for those items. I come for the soondubu and sadly I have given it enough opportunities to impress.

Very comfortable space to dine as a family of four and if you are a larger group, they have a great space on the side for larger parties. The bahn chan was delicious, especially the egg. Tofu was soft and good flavor in the plain broth. Grilled mackerel was delicious. Few places make it less salty without asking and theirs was spot on! Bibimbap had good flavor without needing to add the sauce. Enjoyable meal. Would definitely come back.

There's 2 waitresses and one busser, but I felt only one of the waitress was pulling the weight, while the other (maybe she's the owner?) mostly chatted with one of the table customers. I felt bad for our waitress she was so busy with fulfilling takeouts + dine ins and the dishes require a lot of servicing table side. She couldn't catch 1 second of break :( Food wise, we got their 2 person combo of spicy pork gamja tang and spicy rice cake which came with the steamed egg. Everything was so good, egg was extra fluffy, rice cake was delicious and the meat came right off the bones. They take a good variety of side dishes. My partner wasn't a fan of the gamja tang but due to feeling it's a hassle to eat meat with bones, so those who fee sim may agree. We also asked for the fried rice after we finished the gamja tang, for 2 servings I think it was $4.75 or something. I really enjoyed it but I guess I like scorched rice, also something my partner doesn't enjoy so those we feel sim just note. Environment feels very old school, well worn. Feels cozy. It can get loud very quickly on a Saturday night as this place seems to be a hit for large parties. Since the wait staff is short handed, expect a bit of a wait for things. Don't come if you're in a rush.

The pork was indeed very good. My only comment was that the waitress seemed very stressed and frazzled. She was stressing about cooking the food and some of it was getting overcooked but also our banchan didn't get refilled because of it.
